Ryker was taken back by the man's excitement as he blurted out his questions. He released his grip he had on his drink and leaned back in the booth, setting his left arm on the back of the booth to rest it comfortably.
"Everything always has a price." He stated before taking another drink finishing off the juice. He sighed in content as he looked in the empty cup making sure there was no more drops, after which he set it at the edge of the table for a waiter to pick it up "But, before we discuss price for these pheremones." He gestured towards the vial "I would like to hear more about this Krayt interest."
Ryker wasn't full of knowledge on the subject of Krayts, but he did have a large network of acquaintances and some experience in trapping large creatures for the right price.

*Ovluv rolled his eyes and nodded, more at himself than the man who confirmed that, yes, everything had a price. Curiously, Ryker opted to inquire about Ovluv's "krayt interest" before they discussed price. Ovluv raised an eyebrow, then folded his hands on the table.* "Well, as I've said, I'm a zoologist," *he explained,* "researching various creatures across the galaxy. It all began in the fields of Lothal, befriending Loth-cats and becoming generally fascinated by them. It expanded to other creatures, observing their behaviors, instincts, dietary patterns, mating rituals..." *He gave a lopsided grin as he added,* "Though let me warn you, as I learned the hard way, none of those actually work on sentient life. That's where the 'romantic advisor' part comes in."
*Leaning back, he concluded,* "So why wouldn't I want to learn about the krayt, one of the rarest, most dangerous, most majestic creatures in the galaxy? It would be quite the achievement to be able to study one of those..."

Ryker had a blank expression on his face as Ovluv explained his work until he got to the part about his interest in the krayt dragon. Ryker's eyes widened slightly with excitement and his face showed hints of a small grin. Large creatures usually brought in good money and right now, he and his crew could use it. He leaned in closer.
"So are we talking find one and study or capture and study?"
Ryker's peak in interested could be heard in his voice.

*As Ovluv spoke of the krayt, he noted the signs of excitement in Ryker's countenance. A fellow enthusiast, perhaps? Or, well, perhaps not, considering he hadn't seemed too interested in Ovluv's walk of life until specifically mentioning the krayt. Perhaps it was the desire for adventure or extreme game that drove Ryker's apparent increased intrigue.
Either answer would aid Ovluv.
But to merely study or capture... Ovluv stroked his beard in contemplation, staring at the table and humming softly as he considered the answer.* "If I could capture one, it would be astounding... So much data to collect with easy access to all of my instruments..." *A frown then crossed his brows.* "But the risk to myself, my lab, and Peabody would be great..." *Looking up at Ryker, he added,* "As well as the risk to your own crew."
*He spluttered, still stroking his beard, then finally sighed and lowered his hand.* "Unless you have absolute faith in your crew, I fear the only option is to observe and study."

Ryker nodded silently in agreement as Ovluv spoke of the risk to their crews. It wouldn't be an easy or safe mission if they attempted to capture a live Krayt. Ryker fiddled with his hands for a minute before his eyes suddenly lit up and his face showed that he had an idea brewing in his head.
He grinned mischievously towards Ovluv "So, lets say I have a crew capable of capturing one of your dragons.... would you know how to go about actually getting a hold of one?"
This was a long shot at best, but if it worked it could be the payday of the year

*Ryker sat in understandable silence for a few moments while Ovluv contemplated his own path. While studying a krayt in its own habitat also made sense... any simpleton could do that. Well, not so much simpleton... any simpleton would probably end up dead, but that was beside the point. To capture a krayt, to have it contained with his instruments able to truly study it and learn all its secrets...
Ovluv broke free of his reverie when Ryker, with a mischievous grin, asked how one would go about capturing one. Ovluv stroked his beard for a moment, then answered,* "There is one weakness that I'm aware of. A well-placed blaster bolt straight through the sinus cavity will strike its brain and kill it. It would stand to reason that a similarly-well-placed stun bolt would stun it, would it not?"
*Ovluv studied Ryker with furrowed brows and squinted eyes. The man was either greedy or mad to want to take on a task like this, but then, so was Ovluv. Er, mad, that was. Greedy? Only for knowledge, not money. Granted, funds were important... And Ovluv would have to pay a reasonable sum...*

Ryker thought over Ovluv's idea on the stunning of a Krayt for a minute. He pulled a datapad from a pocket inside his jacket. He held it in his hand without turning it on as he shrugged his shoulders. "Makes sense to me." Ryker spun the datapad in his hand before pressing a button on the side turning the device on from sleep mode. He typed a message of some sort and a slight smile was visible on his face, but only for a brief time.
Ryker placed the datapad on the table and looked back up to Ovluv. "I have a decent sized crew that belongs to an old associate of mine that happens to owe me a very large favor. However, a job this insane would require some bribery for their help." He leaned in closer to Ovluv, placing his arms on the table and lacing his fingers together. "So pertaining to the matter of my contact for your womprat juices and acquiring a rather large beast, what manner of payment do you offer?"
Ryker knew that it wouldn't be easy getting the help needed for this job, but if an offer was good enough, there wasn't a smuggler in the galaxy that could resist the offer.

*Ryker seemed to agree that a well-placed stun bolt would do the trick before giving his datapad some attention for a moment. Research? Sending a message? Whatever it was, it was only a moment later the smuggler returned his attention to Ovluv, explaining that he knew a crew that owed him a "very large favor," but it would require some sort of bribery.
This at last led to the matter of payment. Ovluv had already considered this angle, and had his answer.* "Well, considering just how rare it is for one to successfully capture and study such a creature, I'm sure the studies would be valuable and money would be no object. However, that's if our first plan fails..."
*Ovluv now sported a mischievous smile of his own. He looked around as though checking for eavesdroppers, then leaned forward, explaining in a low voice,* "Krayt dragon pearls... Mysterious gems that form inside the stomachs of the dragons. Incredibly valuable. One alone could fetch over a hundred thousand credits! Of course, it's gathering them without killing the beast that's the tricky part... But, a way shall be found." *He sat up, then furrowed his brows in sudden thought, stroking his beard as he mused,* "And the Tuskens see them as a sign of bravery... perhaps I could use one as a talisman and enlist their aid in future endeavors..."

Ryker's face showed a clear sign of shock but a hint of excitement. These pearls were worth way more than he was expecting, making it less difficult to recall his favor he was owed. If this crazy idea worked, Ryker and his crew could have a new way of making income. Calwell leaned forward, placing his elbows on the table and folding his hands together.
"So what your telling me is that on top of the pearl that is worth a ridiculous sum of money, people will also pay for the research conducted and anything else we could come upon on this endeavor?
Ryker was coming up with an idea how this could help both parties quite well.

*Ovluv started to nod when Ryker repeated the information for confirmation, but stopped at the second half. True enough, the pearls were indeed worth a "ridiculous sum of money," but the paid research, well...*
"I should clarify. I am paid for my research. Apart from a few sponsored sojourns, I am not paid to do the research; I do not yet have that luxury. However, should I manage to capture a krayt and study it, that will be worth a hefty sum of credits to my sponsors, and perhaps truly escalate my status as an esteemed zoologist. If we cannot procure any pearls, then I should be able to easily pay your crew for the money the research itself would bring." *Perhaps an answer the smuggler wouldn't want to hear, so he quickly assured,* "I'm a frugal man, so I will at least be able to pay you an advanced sum, should the latter scenario come true."

*Louie's Tavern was exactly as Carlos had remembered it, and that was a bad thing, because now Carlos was obviously the odd one out with his clean suit. Virtually everybody else, human or alien, was wearing disheveled rags or a distinct uniform. That Carlos had neither made him stand out. And that wasn't a good thing. As eyes followed him, Carlos decided to casually stroll about - try to fit in.
The bartender was nowhere to be seen, but that wasn't a problem... if Carlos could find his contact. Dek Rashal, a local smuggler, was nowhere to be seen either, and all attempts to contact his holocomm earlier had been unsuccessful.*
"Excuse me," *Carlos said as he tapped a friendly-looking Wookiee on the shoulder. His mannerisms were stiff and again out of place here; he couldn't have looked more like an outsider.* "Do you know where Dek Rashal is?" *The Wookiee responded with an aggressive roar. Hardly friendly, then.
Carlos continued to walk around, but the patrons of the cantina were continuing to reject him. Perhaps he should try again later... or just sit at a table and wait to see if anybody would come up to him. This was the sort of place where people would walk around looking for trouble.
He decided to do the latter. Still trying to appear casual, Carlos walked up to the bar table, sat on a stool, and decided to wait. All he needed to do was to look like he was minding his own business while looking around to see if he could identify anyone.*

Louie was in the middle of making a clean glass look dirty, adding to the charm his establishment literally oozed, when a Wookie came to the bar and gestured over to him. Louie was not easily intrigued, but when a walking carpet beckoned for your ear it was hard not to wonder what all the fuss was about. With an ear to the Wookie, and an eye on his register in case this was a distraction to get at his creds, the old man sauntered over. His walk was far less graceful than he intended, but he listened intently as the Wookie pointed out the man in the suit.
Louie eyeballed the suit with his better eye and once again sauntered, in the same graceless manner, over to the part of the bar counter the man was seated at. He placed the glass he had been dirtying up down and gestured to the array of bottles behind him, showing a toothy and discomforting grin at the fancily dressed man. "Pick yer poisun." Louie raised an eyebrow and turned his head back towards the suit wearing man, the same grin on his face, as if he was expecting the man to look upon his selection with awe. Without really waiting for the man to decide, Louie grabbed a bottle of cheap whiskey from the bottom shelf and poured the man two fingers of the alcoholic beverage into the glass. Louie took hold of the glass and shot back the entirety of the whiskey, exhaling deeply. "Ya go' 'orble taste."
Louie procured another glass and a different whiskey bottle, filled with the good stuff, pouring one finger in the glass he had drunk out of, and gesturing to the other glass intended for the suit wearer. Before he poured, however, Louie posed a question to the man. "Why're ya pesterin' my patrons?"

*Carlos noticed the Wookiee he had tapped earlier go towards the counter and beckon a man in rags who might've been cleaning the glasses, only they looked worse when he put them back. Was that the barman? As the man turned towards him, Carlos looked away, so as to not draw suspicion. He did, however, catch a glimpse of the man's disfigured face. The man came over, and Carlos tried to look as if he wasn't expecting him to do so. The man gruffly asked:
Then the man began to pour what could only be described as a beverage for the lowest rats of society, and handed a glass to Carlos. Putrid as it was, it'd be unnatural for a man of Corellian upper class background to decline the bartender's drink offer. As Carlos raised an eyebrow in suspicion but took the glass anyway, he realized that some time had passed without him answering the barman's question.*
"I assume you're Louie," *Carlos said flatly.* "I'm looking for someone called Dek Rashal. He's a local smuggler. Frequents this place." *Carlos took another look around and saw that the patrons were even more repulsive than he had originally thought them to be. Without drinking whatever he had been served, he continued,* "Apparently. Do you have any idea where he is or when you saw him last?"

"En I 'ssume yer an arsehole." Louie replied not missing a beat. "Jus' cause yer some hoity–toity..." He trailed off for a second sizing Carlos up. "Corellian, don make many dif'rnce ta me. As soon as ya step throu' that door yer no dif'rent then any of tha scum in'er... " Louie gave the man a shrug. "So, take it er leave it, I don really care e'ther way." He started to move down the bar, there were scum to be served and credits to make, but he stopped a few steps down. "Wha kinda truble has 'Dilly' Dek gotten inta now?"

*Carlos sat through Louie's deficient rant, still with an eyebrow raised. He wasn't impressed. He allowed his eyes to drift across the cantina to see if anything had happened. When he looked back, Louie had turned around and began moving the other way. The unkempt bartender suddenly stopped and growled: *
*Carlos contemplated his answer. The reality was that he didn't even know what had happened to Dek, as all prior attempts at communication had failed. And even if he did know, there was no reason for him to tell the bartender.. at least, no reason to do so yet.*
"Just tell me where he is. Or when you saw him last." *Carlos paused as he took something out and held it in his hand.* "I have four thousand credits." *Carlos opened his fingers to reveal a stack of credit chips, but held them in such a way that only Louie would be able to see them.* "Maybe if you give me what I want..."

"Ah,"Louie replied, as he made his way back towards the Corellian. "Now we'r talkin'. See, wasn' so 'ard, eh?" He laughed, his means of extortion never getting old. "Now last I saw Dek, hmm." Louie put on his best "thinking face" and waited for Carlos to slide a cred chip to him. This was the way of things; of business. If you wanted information every bit came at a price. Since the Corellian had been so nice as to offer four thousand worth for it, Louie wasn't going to dull it all out and await payment. No, I say, you pay - the Barkeep thought to himself.
"Last he was 'ere, he look'd pretty beat up - like he'd been in'a scuffle. That was'a bout, oh, a week or so ago."

*Carlos knew the man's tactic. He was trying to get Carlos to pay everytime he spoke - even if it was nonsense. But Carlos would only slide the bartender a credit chip every time the latter said something useful. As Louie had just informed him that he had seen Dek about a week ago, and battered as though he was in a scuffle, Carlos decided to reward the bartender with a credit chip.*
"Now, did he speak to you? Tell you what he was up to or where he'd be going?"
*Four thousand credits was a very generous offer - but Carlos had his reasons for it. Maybe after extorting the bartender for information about Dek, he could do the same for information about Fa'athra...*

Louie snatched the chip up faster then a person with sausage-fingers should be able to - it was almost unnatural. "Yah, we spoke," Louie tapped the top of the bar to signify payment would be due shortly. "He was on edge 'bout sumthin'. Real'y on edge, I n'ver seen him so jumpy." Lou scratched at his stubble. "He din't even come in fer a drink. He jus' come in, slamm'd a stack of creds on tha bar for some sticks en lef'. Real'y jumpy..." The barkeep thought on it for a moment before shrugging his shoulders. "As fer where he went ta? I ain't too shur. 'Nowin him, if he wer in trubl'... maybe of'world. But tha syndcats don' jus' let ya leave, so, he's probly dead sumwher in tha dunes."

*Carlos handed him another credit chip. Tragic if what Louie said was true, but that was something for Carlos to deal with later.*
"Alright. What do you know about a Hutt called Voorgaa Fa'athra?"
*The incessant questioning might've been annoying, or even suspicious, but Carlos wiggled the credit chips in his hand to remind the bartender that there was no cause for alarm. As he did so, he looked around the room. Nobody had raised their head or started to move towards him when he had mentioned Fa'athra. Interesting. Usually, a crime lord would have a couple of thugs in every cantina to rough up anyone searching for information about them. That didn't appear to be the case here, so that could mean that Carlos could question Louie safely. Of course, Carlos remained vigilant. There could just as easily be somebody waiting for him to let down his guard and then slug him in the face with a blaster barrel.*

The Barkeep hesitated for a moment taking the next chip. "Vorrgaa?" He said, his beady eyes darting about his establishment before palming the chip. "I don'now it ya shou'd be talkin' bout tha slug out loud like that. I own tha place en fer tha mos' part they r'spect it, but when'na name like that get brung up, well, all bets er off." He warned the Corellian. Tatooine in general was a planet of little qualms for any unlawfulness, and Louie's was part of that system; so, his warning had real weight behind it. If the off-worlder didn't start blending in, Louie was sure he'd be dead sooner than later. "If Dek was runnin' with one'na tha slug's crews... en he dun sumthin' ta piss him off, he's dead'r th'n dead - that'sa fact ther' fer ya."
Lou shook his head and looked up again to see if he was needed, but it seemed to him that everyone in the place was waiting for him to finish. He took a deep breath before continuing for Carlos. "Tha slug runs'a prety tight ship... en since tha mandos jus' cut en run frum tha planet, en that Kulga's synd'cate all but left, he's had full run'nuv tha place." He tapped the bar-top.
