Hangars

*There was something of a renewed vigor in Aerandir's movements as he journeyed from the Residential Towers to the hangar. A small smile never left his face after he left Morgan and Roma in their new quarters to rest. His child was home at last, and he was now a grandfather; few of his days matched how happy a day this was. It didn't even matter he had potentially-unpleasant business to attend to in the hangar.
Of course, he knew about the arrival of Riddick. There was also Ellie Ordo, who'd asked to meet with him. It was easy to spot both once he entered the hangar, but Riddick was chatting with Mike. Deciding to leave them be for the moment, he made his way towards the Ordo ship, greeting Ellie with the same smile he'd left the towers with.* "Aliit'alor Ordo, good to see you, hope I didn't butcher that." *Smiling to the little girl beside her, he said,* "Hello there."
*Almost immediately after greeting the child, his eyes darted back and forth between her and Ellie, the resemblance uncanny.*

As you can see, those attempts to post fifteen days ago only panned out one of the three needed. I've just been having trouble focusing on writing lately. Can I blame work and video games? I'm gonna.
I agree it might be best to wrap up duels and call it, and I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep this first encounter as epic as it could be, but hopefully we can play it as the start of something larger.

If no one else wants to step in, sure.
I'm gonna try to get posts up tonight where I owe them. Fell out of favor with writing in general the past month or so, even with my personal works.

*Roma's response was a telling answer to Aerandir as well, though not necessarily unexpected. Of course Morgan would have trained her daughter in the Force, even if not necessary the teachings of the Jedi. As curious as he was, however, he instead said,* "Before that happens, though, she needs to get acquainted with her new surroundings first, as well as her family."

*Aerandir cupped his chin thoughtfully, knowing better than to doubt Jair's feelings on the matter. Looking back up, he asked,* "Weren't you with someone when this happened? Any chance they might know something?"

*The raid... that felt like so long ago, now. The damage done had honestly been minor, all things considered, and the temple they now stood in was proof that the event had only made them stronger. No, the true damage done had been the loss of Morgan; the raid on the base had been partially responsible for her self-exile, and he knew it.
But she was home now. Apart from that, he was supposed to be listening to Jair explain his dreams. When the door behind him opened, however, he couldn't help but look over his shoulder as Mina, Morgan, and Roma reappeared. Morgan donned one of the very few dresses Mina wore, though it still seemed slightly big on her; a sight that was both amusing and heartwarming, that even as an adult Morgan was outgrown by her younger siblings. It wasn't nearly as over-sized as the tan t-shirt draped over Roma. While it sagged off one shoulder, it certainly was effective as a covering, though the girl seemed to be constantly examining her new trappings curiously.
He returned his attention to Jair as he concluded his words, speaking of an "ethereal" plane rife with the dark side. A place Jair couldn't be sure was a memory.* "A vision, perhaps?"

*Aerandir frowned; long-awaited reunion or not, he didn't have the heart to ignore a friend in need.* "Well if you want to talk—" *Beeping from his own datapad interrupted him, and he barely managed to avoid rolling his eyes. Aerandir was a diligent man, but a father first and foremost, and he'd be damned if his attention was needed just after his daughter had returned home.* "One second," *he told Jair with an upheld finger before pulling the datapad from his pocket and stepping aside.* "Go ahead."
*The message was from Culex, who said,* "It's that Riddick guy. Looking for a landing. Didn't know if— Oh for code's sakes. It's been like thirty seconds, keep your pants on. Unless you're not wearing pants, in which case, please put some on. Unless you prefer skirts. Point being, there's additional steps I'm dealing with. ... sorry, that was for him, he seems impatient. Anyway, didn't know if you were interested, after... ya know."
*Truth be told, Culex was absolutely right. At the same time, it would be an ample moment to address it... but his eyes found the door through which Morgan—and her daughter, his granddaughter—had gone. It would happen, but not yet.* "Let him land, send someone to meet with him, but let him wait, if he wants a meeting with me. Something more important requires my attention at the moment."
"Understood, doing the thing."
*As Culex ended the conversation, Aerandir slipped the datapad away and approached Jair again.* "Sorry about that. Anyway, I mean it, if you want to talk, say the word."

So I was actually thinking about seeing if it was alright with Malvus and Luxeria if I eventually brought in an alt to step in for Maggy since... Well let's be realistic here. Despite her steadfastness and dreams of being like Padawans of the past that could go toe-to-toe with well-trained Force warriors in the past, I know she wouldn't last long. If you two aren't against it, having Jair fill that role would be perfect. I just would like to get in a few back-and-forths with Maggy first, because this is too interesting a setup to pass up.

"I don't know yet. She only now just came back to us." *Despite how overjoyed he was at his daughter's return, he couldn't help but sigh still.* "Been too long... there's a lot to catch up on, but I didn't want to bombard her with questions all at once." *Glancing down at the datapad and looking at Jair again, he asked,* "Something you needed? I can tell this—" *He indicated the datapad.* "—wasn't all you came for."

*Completely missed the point, of course. Typical of Sith, after all. However, following the rebuttal—and even slightly before it—a strange thing occurred, as though the Zabrak was suddenly in some sort of pain. No pain Aerandir had inflicted for certain; his strike had plainly missed. It was immediately followed by wild swinging; if there was ever an opportunity, it was now. He took a step backward and alternated between parrying and dodging the blades, analyzing their movements and awaiting just the right moment. When he perceived the imminent opening for a quick stabbing strike at the Zabrak's right knee, he took it.*

*Aerandir started to answer, paused a moment, then closed his mouth. His initially-planned answer repeated in his mind, as he was still finding the truth hadn't fully set in yet. Finally, with a small grin, he said,* "What if I told you I'm a grandfather?"

"Thanks," *was all Aerandir said as he took the datapad, glanced over it, then lowered it as Jair asked how everyone was doing. Glancing over his shoulder at the closed door, he said,* "Well a lot better now, that's for sure. I'm sure she'd love to say hi just as soon as she's dressed." *He raised an eyebrow.* "You won't believe who the kid is."

*It was almost ironic, the intrusion by Jair. Not like one more "witness" truly mattered, other than the fact Aerandir expected there to be no more in a private home. It wasn't even that aspect that truly bothered Aerandir, but he still stepped between Jair's view and Morgan—even if the former was already diverting his attention.* "Mina, take Morgan to your room, I'm sure you'll have something that fits her."
*Mina nodded and gestured for Morgan to follow, who did so while leading along Roma by the hand, even as the little girl asked,* "What's he sorry for? Did he do something bad?"
*When Mina's bedroom door slid closed behind them, Aerandir took a step back and sighed, a slight smirk on his face.* "Most people knock, Jair."
"Hi, Jair!" *said Lucy with a wave.
Her brother instead bowed, greeting,* "Hello, Jedi Crawford."

Let's strike while the iron is hot then! As I said in that thread, please allow Sinistra to provide further details before posting your interest in that RP, but feel free to use this thread (as in the one you're currently reading) to discuss the format as well! I think most missions will probably have a similar format as this one: Titled with the RP, noted that it's part of the mission board, etc. Only thing I'm hung up on is whether or not to keep an "index" thread as well, with links to each board posting. Maybe a bump every time there's a new one.

Welcome to the first ever Jedi Mission Board posting! The Jedi Mission Board is still in preliminary stages, and as such, we will use this experience to further tweak it as needed for future postings. Consider it a "trial run" of sorts. Scenario: The Hunt for Lord Sinistra Brief outline: As briefly described by Lord Sinistra in chat: "Sith would be looking for her as an asset. The Jedi and FO would see her as a threat to be taken out. And the race is who gets to her first." She will provide further details in a reply to this thread. Location: To be determined. Jedi personnel needed: Skilled Jedi, preferably those with experience fighting Sith, and any military personnel they may deem helpful to the cause. Other personnel needed: - Sith and/or First Order agents, looking to sway or silence her. - Allies to aid Lord Sinistra against her assailants. RP start time: To be determined. As mentioned above, this is our inaugural trial run of the Jedi Mission Board and will also be used as a learning experience. Live feedback is also encouraged, though, to keep this thread specifically devoted to the RP itself, please use the interest thread to discuss or provide said feedback. Also! Please allow Sinistra to provide further details before posting your interest!

Floating around an idea, if anyone wants to take a look. Remember when I made an offhanded comment about running "missions" for the Jedi? This is the discussion thread for that.

Something I alluded to way back when was the potential idea of directing missions for Jedi and others to participate in. Now with the existence of the new Jedi Temple creating a fresh slate for the Jedi Order, I want to try to get rolling on this, but first am looking for input. To get this out of the way early on, as that post states, it'll be a system for all types of writers to get involved in as well. The reason I call it a " Jedi Mission Board" is because each mission will be framed from the standpoint of "there's a happening, Jedi are sent to do something about it," giving the idea that Aerandir or the Council personally assigned Jedi these tasks. The basic idea I have so far is this: - I post a scenario with the basic plot and a general idea of what personnel we need. Say, a couple of Jedi are sent to investigate a criminal ring's rumored mutation experiments. I would need a Jedi team, plus people willing to write the criminal ring, whether the ringleader, or henchmen, or the mutants themselves. - People respond to the scenario, stating their interest and what roles they'd like to play. Third parties, joining out of their own interests, are entirely welcome as well. - A start date is picked, a more solid outline of the premise is established, and the RP begins. - Other than the setup, the missions will be otherwise unscripted scenarios. What I want to see is how interested the community is and if we can get some discussion going on how to refine the formula before we begin. A couple questions I have off the bat: - Should I flesh out the antagonists' scenario more? For example, in the situation above, should I go into detail about the organization and the mutants, or discuss that with the participants, or even leave it to the antagonists entirely to determine? Perhaps a case-by-case basis? - Should we even have some sort of roster for each mission? I want to leave things open-ended despite each specific scenario, i.e. Jedi maybe needing to call in backup, or even the antagonists or third-parties. An "initial roster" might be handy but I'm not sure. - How often should we hold these? I'm thinking perhaps once a month to start, and adjusting based on success. Very eager to hear your thoughts and feedback because I think this could potentially be a great way to liven up the boards. Little bite-sized skirmishes and investigations and stuff to mix in with all of our sweeping storylines. What do you guys think?
