But they are already looking for me. It is a lot to risk hoping you find someone high enough in the organization that is still public but knows where the leaders have gone to ground. The old man sighs a bit, knowing that the plan is a good as any other. If you feel it is good, go for it. See where it leads.

How do you know he has information of value? Putting yourself out there exposing yourself is a risk. In your eyes is it worth it? Mir was fine with the risk and was ok with the plan. He had thought about sending the kid undercover but this could work. He would get to learn more about his new student. This line of questions would also let him teach the kid about thinking everything out.

Possibly, but as you hinted at. Our information can no longer really be trusted. The captives will have been moved to new locations, and they will likely take their operations dark until they find out who is hunting them. Moving without information gets people killed. Mir had a plan but wanted to see what the kid could come up with. How do we change our standing my new ... apprentice He was trying to make a joke with the end, but the word tasted funny in his mouth. He hadn't had an apprentice of any sort in almost 50 years.

Mir could feel the young man's conflict. In a former life, Mir would have pressed the issue, sought to resolve it. Now, he would accept that the youth was willing to go with it. With my information possibly compromised we need to see what still holds true. The slavers are shaken, they know they are being watched and hunted, but they don't know who is hunting them or how powerful we are. They should be looking for information now on me. Instead... I wonder if we should give them different information... Mir looks at the young man, a plan forming in his head.

Your master taught you better than that I think. You are focused on other things, not what is right in front of you. You seek to be effective in the grand, but have you proven you can handle the small? Correct me if I am wrong, but last night a single sith almost ended you. Now you wish to go face an army of them? Do you think you are ready for such a task? Do you think you will be of benefit to the Jedi there as you are?

Tell that to the families that have lost children to this slaver! Tell that to the people he and his organization have hurt. The dead his spice imports have left., the orphans they have left behind! The big picture is made up of many small ones. The big picture never changes. There is always some large threat, some evil that will take the place of the large one you just defeated! The only ones that can be helped, saved are individuals. You speak like a Sith. Focus on the grand, forgetting the important small.

Don't know yet, but we are both still here. Might as well at least pretend you are. Mir had gotten some sleep, not enough but that was normal. There was caff waiting for the young man when he woke up. Mir was sitting at a desk looking at notes trying to think about where his target would go into hiding.

Fair, you can get fully rested now. I still have to figure out if you are worth my time, I want you without excuse. The old Jedi moves his hand and uses the Force on the combination lock on the inside of the door. It opens to a medium sized room. 4 Murphy beds line one wall, a small kitchen, and a work bench take up 2 others and the fourth was the door to the fresher. A meditation matt sat in the middle. The wall above the workbench had case files on it. That and kid you honestly look exhausted.

Old Jedi masters that get slowed down become dead Jedi masters. After the effort the old man is tired but he would never show it to the kid. He uses the Force to replenish his muscles and lungs. When was the last time you had a good nights sleep kid? Truely?

The Jedi Master doesn't return to his main safe house but makes his way to a makeshift secondary location. It was supplied and maintained enough. Mir made the trip very difficult, changing directions constantly, and never staying on the same elevation for long. After an hour of moving, he arrived at the safe house.

Well you are right about needing a teacher... The old man grumbles See if you can't follow and keep up with an old man.Mir doesn't wait for an answer, he gathers the Force around him and leaps back to the roof of the building he was on before. He takes off at breakneck speed.

You need to work on your negotiating skills, only a fool would insult the person he is trying to get something from. Then again if you weren't a fool, you would not need a second teacher in the first place. Fine, if nothing else it will put you close enough that I can end you myself if you are truly lost. The Jedi looks around, the slavers were still active on the planet and he had to re-plan everything as it is. Do you have gear stored up anywhere or a safe house?

The old man couldn't hold back a snort. Teach you? To what end? Why should I spend the effort and years? When it is very likely you will fall back into your ways. Despite is curt response, the old man didn't say no.

The words the youth spoke struck a nerve. They didn't make him angry but they did require a response. He reached out and gave the young man a hard fast shove in the Force, pinning him the facade of the building behind him. His voice bellows, echoing off the buildings and in the Force. You speak of things you don't know or understand, choosing to view events through your own narrow lense. Your Master was a good man who was devoted to his duty, and I will not allow you to besmirch his sacrifice. Choices are made because they have to be, and understanding of those choices can take a lifetime. A slave to your own point of few locked in a selfish desire for what your warped mind defines as justice, and you call me a Pawn? I know who and what I serve, and acknowledge them. They are things greater than I.

Not most, just the ones that won't learn. Even more than getting killed some are abandoning what they were taught, and disgracing their masters... He looks with knowing eyes full of perpous Would you know anything about that?

Mir lets the light fade away and looks down at the young man from his perch on the roof. I am sure you did, just like every other young headstrong and overconfident Jedi Knight before their last fight. Please tell me, at what point was any of what happened tonight under your control? Even a little? He jumps down before the young man. The force making the old man still an imposing figure. He well worn black armor adding to the image.

His presence filling the area and the light makes the old man impossible to pinpoint precisely. He uses the Force to augment his voice, making it come from everywhere. ENOUGH! BEGONE SITH! This child isn't worthy of your time and you and I have no quarrel. I am here to catch slavers, not Sith. He sees and feels Synar throw a shove to the Sith. Mir grabs the young man in the Force and throws him back.

As he nears, the Old Jedi's fists began to glow a bright white light. He stands on the building above the combatants. He lets his presence fill the area. He would be impossible to pinpoint. He would feel right behind both fighters, and at the same time, he would feel far off. He illuminates the area with Force Light. The walls of buildings and the ground itself explode with intense3 bright white light.

Being as open to the Force as he was in that moment meant two things for Mir. The first he felt the repulsive presence of one steeped in the Dark Side. And two, he knew that this new player knew Mir was around. There would be no sneaking up on this new combatant. The Sith's focus was on Synar, Mir could feel. What had the kid done? At first, he was content to let the Sith have his pray. Synar had turned his back on the light and would now have to face the consequences. The old Jedi started to walk away.
He heard the voices of the other masters in his head. It was his duty to deal with Synar, to bring him back to the light, or to put him out. He couldn't let some Sith do it. Reluctantly he turned. Still in full armor, he headed towards the two. He knew he couldn't hide, so instead he did the opposite. He filled the area around the two with his presence. He would feel in the Force, not hidden, but he would feel everywhere. He made his way to the future fight. He did nothing to hide his motives. The Force would tell them that he wasn't coming as Synar's friend or willing savior. He was coming to help, and was determined to do so.
