The student does what he can to encumber the Kel'dor's arms with his own. The battlemaster stood up from his low stance and dropped his guard to allow Kahn's arm to fall back down. Shri Yarl turned and strolled back. "Get up....The Mandalorians believe we are natural enemy and a threat because they think it cheating when we operate in one with the Force; we do what we can to surrender to its will. They are their own will. Try again." With a small flourish of his own saber, he is back in his square strong stance with both clawed hands on the hilt pointed out front.

I will happily fight more than one if you since I conceivably won't be standing alone, also I'm pretty sure Will doesn't have a dance partner yet Truth. 3 of the most senior members of the Jedi order are in the council chambers. kind of a dangerous concentration, if you asked me. I'll take on whoever wants some.

The Battlemaster felt the Force surging in the student-- but only for just a moment; the Kel'dor shook his head just briefly a bit disappointed. .until he felt a sharp tug in his wrist pulling him towards the ground.
Quickly, Shri Yarl found himself plummeting face first into the training mat. The Kel'dor instinctively tucks his head into a tight role, and reaches to disengage the the cable from his wrist, freeing the bond between the two duelists. He finds himself in a low athletic stance, rising from a knee. He is just within a few feet of the student who still lies on the floor. The Battlemaster brings both hands to bear on the practice saber, and with a strong overhand sweep brings it crashing down aiming broadly for Kahn's chest. . .

Just my 2 cents. I have been struggling to keep the enthusiasm and lead by example (and fail everytime) for some years now. But my main reason to lose spirit are 2 simple problems that don't have simple solutions.
The pace we work on getting storylines off the ground. We used to be so 'johnny on the spot' when it comes to community responses. But these days, even with fewer writers, it takes us soo long to get SLs moving, and we all are slow to respond; forcing us to create split timelines in order to keep our personal writing paces up. For me, I create split TLs and sometimes forget where I am because posting is so slow. Then I get a reply and forget to check back. Then as a writer, I find it a big challenge to jump back into the emotional mindset in order to provied that thread justice.
And because there are so few of us posting so infrequently, it's hard to get new writers engaged. I volunteered to take on 2 last month, and I lost one-- luckily Mikey helped me with that.
Then the bro networking and Discord planning. I jump on Discord and a lot of is just jovial funplay among old friends; but sometimes creativity pops up and plans get hashed out on there. Great to get things moving between 2 or 3 writers. But big narratives. .not so much.
Just my 2 cents. But I am trying to keep up.

As the force of the kick forces Kahn backward, requiring a moment for the student to recover-- the Kel'dor does a wide pivot widening the distance just a bit; a clawed hand reaches to the opposite wrist gauntlet as a long cable shoots out heading straight towards Kahn's shins in an effort to wrap up one or both of his legs. . .

Kahn easily parried the thrust easily with a rudimentary block and a slash to the Yarl's waist. The Kel'dor twisted the blade toward to meet the slash before it could pass between the two duelists, and brought his front boot to bear in a powerful standing front kick to Kahn's chest. .

The Battlemaster returns his focus to the present, though his eyes hidden behind the rebreather afixed to his face, Shri Yarl addresses the learner that now sits in front of him; his voice as deep and thunderous as the storms of Dorin. "Learner Kahn. Welcome to your capstone lesson in the martial arts. As a jedi in the darkest of times, you must be prepared to defend the Light."
Yarl rises and offers one of the sabers to Kahn and braces his own saber with both hands; pointing the tip out and forward in an aggressive stance, his feet shoulder width apart. "Mandalorians, as you well know, are fierce warriors who see strength as an invitation for challenge. They see the Jedi, therefore, as natural rivals in the balance of the universe. They are courageous and honorable in combat, but see the assistance of the Living Force as as an unfair advantage and, as such, will not hesitate to marshal every sort of tool level the playing field. It was not too long ago in history when this very academy, and Jedi Order as a whole, found itself at war with the Mandalorians; and they remain a constant threat. Now, we will see how well prepared you are to defend against such a threat." With that, he waits just a moment before lunging forward with a diagonal thrust swinging downward towards Kahn's left shoulder. . .

In an adjacent training room, a Kel'dor battle instructor strolls in with a pairing of sparring blades; circling the room, taking stock of space and everything that resides within. After a minute or so, he sits cross-legged in the middle of the room. Straight backed, with the blades resting in his lap, he meditates in the middle of the room and awaits for the student Deputy Isra Bel had assigned to him yesterday. . .

Isra looks away a bit uncomfortable once more, but quickly fixes the hair that falls by doing so and squares her chin with regal resolution. "No, Kahn. Not me personally, but the academy faculty will train you so that you will be better prepared for . .what comes next." She smiles sweetly. "You will report to the training hall tomorrow and demonstrate your capabilities with a saber; first and foremost."
Resolute, she folds her hands in front of herself. "Are there anymore questions, Kahn?" The Deputy Administrator asks. A tickle up from her neck has been nagging at her a bit; making her tickle through the conversation. Her jade eyes spares a glance at an unfamiliar visual seeming to. .be doodling her and Kahn?. . .

Hangar

Kriff.
Will rocks on the balls of his ankles as his lackadaisical eyes track between Mike and Serrin, confused how the conversation suddenly became about him, he already had his 'come to the Force moment' not too long ago. . and in this very hangar. His visions have been plaguing him the whole time he has returned to duty at the academy; even though he has actively been ignoring his traditional duties.
Master Son'tir takes a centering breath, and burps involuntarily under his breath-- Corellian ale wofting between all parties concerned. .After a moment, Will untucks one arm from being crossed against his chest-- one finger raised in a declarative fashion. .until his mind reminds his heart what brought him back to Serrin. Without saying anything else "It will be as you say, High Councilor." Will hiccups. "I live to serve. . whatever that means." Will bows, and nearly tips over under his own weight.
In a moment not his most sober, Will takes the order to mean immediately, and begins to lightly hobble to the nearest ship to make the voyage comfortable-- an aging YT-2400 light freighter bearing the old emblem of the Corellian Jedi Academy. Son'itr points with the same finger towards Mike as he walks towards the vessel."But you'll have to pilot-- I am in no shape to drive; oh, and bring that 'shipment' you came to pick up. We could use it on the way over, and Mum won't let you keep it in the house." With a vague waving of his hand. he makes his leave of the conversation and onto the boarding ramp of the freighter.

The young Hapan Knight nods knowingly, and points to punctuate a point that Kahn had made. "Yes, it can be difficult to feel your worth when the Masters seem to be coming and going, distracted. It lifts me to know you have not been disheartened. Many of our Masters have elected to not take on Padawans from the Academy in this time of. . uncertainty." Isra Bel's brow furrows just a bit as she struggles to speak for the High Council of the Jedi Order that is largely silent on the subject of the future. "Despite the misgivings of the galaxy, there is more need then ever to train the next generation of Jedi before--" Isra breaks off, and clears her throat before she completes her thoughts. "the Headmaster, High Councilor Serrin Roma, is personally leading a referendum of practice here on Corellia; she has made it clear that we are to train our eldest students to completion by any means necessary. Therefore, as her Deputy, it falls on me to gather those who are most prepared and begin as soon as possible" Isra Bel smiles wide as she continues "Your meditations and clear serenity, and your years experience here in service to Ashla is testiment. Now we, as an academy, must begin to serve you. Councilor Roma will assign you a Master; but if you are to be assigned to the Master that she has in mind. . ." The Hapan knight blushes a bit and scrunches her nose at the thought "you must be fully prepared." She giggles just a bit as what that could mean.

After a minute of serene patience, Kahn acknowledged her. With an regal decline of her head, she wrinkles her nose with an embarrassed smirk on her face. "Master? Come now, Kahn, am just a knight; assigned to assist Master Roma with any administrative tasks she might need executing here at the academy while she focuses on the high priorities of the Jedi Council. You know this, you're one of our oldest students-- why must you tease me so?" Isra chides the Learner a bit as she replaces rogue strains of raven hair away from her face. She folds her hands in front of herself, a physical prompt for her to regain her serenity. "To the end of serving Master Roma in stewarding our students, she has assigned me to task our oldest students." The young Hapan's eyes dart downward toward her hands, searching for what next to say, or to say anything at all. "How do you feel your time here at the academy is going? Or with the Jedi Order itself?" She raised her jade eyes to meet those of Kahn's searching for the intent behind them as she awaited with a serene smile on her face. She exuded patience and trustworthiness inside the Force; a diplomatic technique that serves her very well working with people, and treating dignitaries from through out the galaxy. .

I am planning to have layers between the 2 Apprentices and Will.
Will is a High Master of the Jedi Order. Recently returning to the academy and re calibrating to life at an academy place while also deciphering what the Force wants from him. So the students will deal with a few NPCs, learning from the academy staff, or at least 'proving their worth' to a bit pretentious and a very distracted Master. You guys will sort of serve as a centering for Will.

A young beautiful Hapan Jedi Knight in the customary green robes of the academy staff, strolled through the gardens. Her flowing black hair a contrast to her fair skin as it flows with the gentle breeze of the garden, jer jade eyes searching for a student. With a slight smile, Isra finds who she is looking for; with a patience and serrenity that would rival Master Roma, the young deputy administrator awaits Kahn to complete his morning meditations. . .

If someone else comes along, We can push one of you off to have a traditional pairing. But there is canonical precedence of a few Padawans on loan to one Master, or a few pairs of jedi working the same missions etc.

Jedi Master Will Son'tir shuffles in just after Grandmaster Aerandir Calmcacil, looking a bit awkwardly stiff in the traditional jedi garbs. Will's icy blue eyes investigates the room, making note of the slight similarities and differences to the othe council chambers that Son'tir has occupied before; including the High Council chamber that both the Aer and Will has sat on together in the not too distant past. . Will was always a dissenting opinion on the Council, arguing against rigid caste systems, stretching the Order too thin over the galaxies problems. His zeal got the better of him as the Council took a closed door vote to have him removed from leadership. To save face, the High Council appointed him as the head of the Watchmen Corps and liaison to the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, Cihlbar on Mon Calamari. There a Secret sect of Sith corrupted elections, assassinated the Chancellor, and began the dissent of what was the Republic. Son'tir chased the Sith to the outer rim and the edge of the Unknown Region, where he discovered that these Sith were just pawns preparing the galaxy for the rise of the First Order.
It wasn't until very recently that Will Son'tir returned to debrief at his old home assignment, the Corellian Academy, battered and bruised in more than one way. High Master Serrin Roma, eager to put him back on the right path, got him back in to teaching lessons, taking Padawans, and now dispatching him to diplomatic meetings. But Will's own pride is the least of the two masters' problems.
As Will's eyes scans, he makes not that they were indeed alone. His fingers slide absent-mindedly across the arm of a council seat; scoffs to himself as he hears Aer say,
"First of all, you seem a little more tense than usual," he noted with a look of concern. "Anything the matter?"
With a bored raise of his eyebrows, and heavy eyelids, Will says "You want that chronologically? Or Alphabetically?" He allows the question to set unanswered as a rhetorical one. He breathes in exhales heavily as he sits on the same arm of the council seat, crossing his leg out in front of him, clicking the toes of the knee high boots together a few times. He rubs the closely shaven sides of his head; then through the longer parted on top. Will exhales again.
"The galaxy has changed. The First Order has taken the galaxy, the Republic has fallen and the GA is sinking. I read the debriefs, and I have seen your transmissions, the members of the Order are not responding to the recall; the cows are not coming home to graze. Are numbers are dwindling and our enemies are multiplying." Will shrugs matter-of-factly; seeming very resentful of what he has to say. "The Force, for one reason or another, has . .plagued me with visions. As much as I fought to ignore it, Darkness is coming for us. All of us. And I don't have the answer to what comes next; one thing I do know, Aer: what we are doing now-- isn't working." Having leveled with Aer, he folds his arms across the flowing jedi robes, and rubs the fine sand paper that is the scruff of his face; seeming to fidget at something. The Force will not let him go. . .

We can play it as Twin Padawans? If you want? if Quill doesn't mind. Me and him have hashed out a slow (couple posts a week) pace, where we will just start from the beginning of training/assessment, training him in the Light. You can be the competitive student that pushes each, tests each other. Perhaps a conflict can arise, darkness from one of you, the other helps defeat-- or succumbs to it. However you want to play it.
But ours is a fairly enclosed SL, and we have freedom of movement and free of outside consequences.
