"Bureaucracy is beneath the Sith...you should be involved in more important things..."
The familiar voice was deep, filled with rumbling bass, yet at the same time crisp; years of military involvement gave men such voices. The voice came from the back right corner of the room- the area that Mercedes had her back to. Spinning to find the owner of the voice with a hopeful smile, she would soon realize that the man was not who she had expected. This man she saw was tall and lean, clad in black robes that had tattered ends. His hair was as black as his robes, and flowed to his shoulders as an obsidian sea. Half of his face was hidden by a bone mempo which guarded his expression, though it revealed his eyes. His eyes were all she needed to see.
They were Ice blue, filled with a chilling predatory nature, yet deceptively friendly. She knew those eyes, though they belonged to a man unlike this one- they belonged to a beast of a man, the Lord of Chaos, who was a titan in both physique and the force. She probed the man with the force, discerning his aura yet he was but a mere fraction of the power that her old master was. When Nexus walked upon Byss he could be felt, yet this man seemed to blend in with the malicious aura of the planet- all but invisible until focused on. All logic said that this man was not Nexus, and yet those were his eyes, and that was his voice. The man remained silent and still, watching her with those eyes of his, awaiting her reaction.
A few hours ago
Home at last. The Dark Lord emerged from the tunnel and into a dimly lit hall with obsidian walls lined with mysterious etchings and glyphs of languages no longer spoken. The air was stagnant here, smelling of musk and old incense; no one had been here in a long time. He knew this place- it was the oldest part of the castle, and the only one to survive the wars- this was his temple. The tunnels in which he had just ventured were known only to him; it was the only way to enter the castle discretely. He looked around, drinking in the familiar site of the room. Built deep within Byss, the temple was a massive area which contained his ancient library, forge, laboratory, meditation chambers and alter, all connected by a massive antechamber which Nexus had just entered. The antechamber was a cavernous pentagonal room with walls of black stone, which lead to a great domed ceiling. Running pale fingers over the glyphs, he closed his eyes, allowing his mind to open to the room around him. The dark side filled him, as did memories of this place. Walking over to the obelisk which lay in the center of the room, black, just like the walls around it, this device hummed with the darkside- built directly upon a nexus of the force, tainted by the Dark Lord's black magic- he brushed his fingers over the cool black surface, as he did with the wall, though this time he spoke out.
"It has been a long time..."
With that, he turned towards the portal that barred this temple from the rest of the castle. The pair of great black metal doors with depictions of battle and death was impressive to behold. He did not push it open- he knew that it would not open with a push, instead, he reached out to the door with the force and impressed himself upon it- only one being could open this door, and the man was he. The doors swung open on invisible hinges and the man pressed through, entering the sub-basement passageways of his castle. No one roamed these passages- the lowest levels of the castle were the sanctuary of the Dark Lord- few ever saw this place. His footsteps never made a sound.
He began to make his way through the castle, using ancient passages that were not wandered for many years- he knew this castle, he had designed it and helped build it; it was easy for him to slip past the guards and workers unnoticed. He made his way through the castle, moving to the upper levels. These areas were newer and much harder to navigate without being noticed, yet with the assistance of the force, Nexus passed through unnoticed. Finally he arrived at the door of Mercedes' office- he entered, as silent as death itself, moving past his apprentice as a shade while her eyes were shut. He settled himself in the corner of the room and waited.
Then Mercedes stirred and began working, and Nexus watched without a word- no sound could be heard from the area, not even his breath- while he did not take pleasure in the ways of stealth and the force, he was far from a stranger to it and implemented it here. He would not make himself known until the time was right. That time came after she called for food. She leaned back and began to ponder- Nexus could sense it, pride, yet shame at the same time. She was pondering her role; she had been guided off the path with his absence, and he would ensure that she returned to it.

The sith sword cleaved through not flesh, not blood, not bone, but air. And then it was kicked, and Reaver descended to the ground without the slightest hint of ceremony. The crowd booed at the sith lord, disappointed- he felt a tick of annoyance, but he did not let it show. The boy child said his words and showed his showmanship, as the arena was engulfed by a cloud of sand. Then the darkness came.
For most combatants, there would be a moment of confusion, however Nexus was not most combatants. During his exile, when hunted by the Warriors of the Iron Fist, he took refuge on the planet of Tattooine. He was no stranger to sand and stone, nor when they obscured vision. He had long since stopped relying on his eyes for sight. As the cloud of beige raised, the Dark Lord -acting purely upon instinct- closed his eyes allowing the force to see for him. They were in a sea of red, surrounded by a shifting wall of red- blood shed by combatants, as demanded by the surrounding crowd who now had blood on their hands.
Within the blood however, was another being, who shone a bright blue. Jedi- or at least a lightsider- a beacon of hope in this sea of death. Unfortunately for Cassel, however, beacons worked both ways. He was an easy target, as he commenced his speech, but Nexus didn't move, not yet. Instead, he allowed himself to blend with the area. It was not hard- in one life he was a gladiator, and the arena was as much a part of him as he was a part of it. Though not invisible, using the dark energies of this blood soaked stadium, Nexus made himself harder to detect. As he did this, he reached for the longest of hilts, which hung on his right hip- pulling it free, he did not ignite the weapon, but instead waited.
Then the beacon lunged, and Nexus lunged out to meet him. Kicking off the ground, the Dark Lord leaped in a trajectory that would bring him parallel with Cassel's left side. While he was far from a master of trakata, Nexus was versed in the basic tenets of the form, and implemented them in this move; Mere milliseconds before they crossed, the Dark Lord ignited his lightsaber, birthing a bright crimson beam which burned through the sand. He held the blade in a reversed stance in his left hand, blade held as a horizontal bar moving outwards from the weilder at mid-torso height. If Cassel didn't shift his course or ignite his own blade he would very likely be cut in two by a horizontal blow to his mid-torso.

The voices in the Dark Lord's mind cheered and roared, filled with blood lust, as the jedi came to his knees. "Kill him", they said; "Crush him", they said; "Destroy him", they said. "Wait", said one voice, that beckoned the other voices into silence- the voice of a master of lightsaber combat, Darth Sanctus, speaking in his element with the authority that could silence the maelstrom of other voices and entities. "Never rush in", the voice said, "Never do what they expect- deceive them and attack them where they least expect it".
The jedi got up, but did not approach, instead choosing to hold his ground- it was no surprise to Nexus; they tended to act as defensive fighters, rather than offensive combatants. He could detect Rutil's harnessing of the force- a warning sign that most, if not all ranged attacks would probably be futile. Even so he could taste his enemy's pain and frustration; it was sweet on the tongue of a practitioner of the dark side.
It was time to attack once more, but Nexus decided against charging his opponent- while he could seize the moment, his opponent would be far from surprised by that course of action. Instead he heeded the words of Darth Sanctus. He flourished his saber in a quick spin, before holding it in a Makashi-like stance.
Turning side-face once more, Nexus' left shoulder was aimed towards Rutil, with his lightsaber held at waist level, angled towards the sand. While the stance matched that of a form II user, Nexus did not intend to attack with the saber form; it was a form of trickery, using the stance to misguide Rutil into a sense of specific expectations.
Taking steady steps, Nexus approached the jedi, bracing himself for an attack with the force or the saber. Closer and closer he stepped, walking straight to Rutil, believing the jedi would not budge, though he was not so ignorant as to be unprepared for unorthodoxy. Three meters, two meters, one meter and a half, all the while his blade poised and ready to ward off an enemy attack. As he came nearer he placed both hands on the elongated hilt of his weapon. Then he was within striking range of the jedi. Unless the jedi had made the first move, Nexus would have.
(If met without resistance) Once Nexus was within striking range, he would move with fluid grace. Rather than going for a typical arcing swipe or stab, as was commonly associated with Makashi, Nexus abandoned the stance and drew back his right arm, bringing his blade from his waist angled downwards, to his right shoulder, angled straight and outward, poised to strike. This switch changed potential targets for Nexus' strike, a switch that required compensation in the opponent's defense.
Ferocity filled the dark lord, as he suddenly thrust the blade outward and slightly to the his left (Rutil's right)in a feinting stab aiming for Rutil's right shoulder. The blade moved no more than three inches before Nexus suddenly altered its trajectory, bringing it to Rutil's left side in short arc which would bring the blade from Rutil's right shoulder, over his head, and down onto his left shoulder in a violent diagonal cleave. The weapon moved in a red blur, striking with well practiced speed. If the blade met it's target it had the potential to rend Rutil in half, cleaving from his left shoulder to right hip.

Damn...Alright, well if I end up being elevated to you gent's level, I suppose I will be a lord without a title. The wild card/ enigma- I think it suits Nexus.

Do you know any OE'ers IC? Unless Dearg is a different character, I knew him back in the IF. I also believe I have met Dragus once or twice. I am sure there are others that I am just not thinking of- anyone that was involved in the IF, DJO, or Dark Tide really.

-Planet: Byss -Link to Planet: jedivsith.boards.net/board/8/byss -Title of Building: Black Stone Citadel -Description: Formerly known as the Dark Legion Castle, Black Stone Citadel is doubles as a fortress and a palace, housing the planet's government facilities as well as acting as a major military stronghold. Built over the ashes of it's predecessor, the citadel is surrounded by the Leviathan Rift, a great mountain range, and is rumored to have a labyrinth of tunnels and facilities beneath it. -Person who will use the building: Nexus (myself), Mercedes Asari, and who ever decides to rp on Byss -Extra Info: This is a carry over of one of the most active locations on Byss. It is a nexus of activity, making the planet more than an unknown rock in the deep core. It would be ideal if I could create topics on it, as I did with the old location. I can understand some hesitance but I believe the ability to diversify the forum is one of the things that makes it useful. (Link to original: jedivsith.com/the-dark-legion%CA%B9s-castle-f1038.html )

Well, I am sure a few of you know that I have a thing for wars. Like full scale wars. While that is preferred, I am up for any combat oriented role. I am already equipped with a military and bastion in Byss (though I haven't requested it to be created as of yet). I am not a teacher, just a warrior. If that can be applied in the OE count me in. I also want to work with Mort on some toys.

His foot passed through thin air as the old jedi evaded the strike. Nexus was about to continue to press on his attack, but instead a force push ripped his balance from him, causing him to stumble backwards, but Nexus was quick to return to his feet, as he turned his fall into a backwards roll. His saber left a black scorch in the ground where it turned sand into glass.
He rose in a crouched stance, facing Rutil. He did not miss a beat, lashing out with his free hand, he made a crushing gesture, bending the darkside of the force his will as he attempted to engage a force crush on Rutil's right knee cap. At the same time, he held his saber ready in his left hand, aimed slightly away from him at an upward angle.

The crowd burst into laughter and cheers, as the man-child flew and flipped across the arena. He hit the ground with a soft thud, which intensified the mocking. Nexus did not join in with them- but instead watched his opponent with those chilling eyes of his. The force ebbed and flowed through him, the arena was a massive nexus of emotion which he drew upon- it gave him strength.
The boy returned to his feet, frowning. Nexus lifted Reaver with one hand, holding it at level with his chest. As Cassel charged, Nexus braced himself. The boy began to blur as the force aided him with speed- fortunately he was far enough to give Nexus time to react. And so the sith lord did.
Allowing the force which he had been gathering since Cassel's fall to be free, he released the hilt of Reaver. Rather than falling to the red earth, the blade defied gravity and floated, before suddenly lancing straight at Cassel just as he reached the climax of his speed, prior to jumping.

Red kissed Blue. The blades met with a shower of brilliant sparks and light, eye candy for those who didn't comprehend the deadly power of the weapon, and for those that savored that same power. Nexus was a part of the latter category, though he did not take time to admire it. His opponent favored speed and Nexus refused to give him the upper hand.
He shifted his posture, giving favor to his left side, which was angled towards Rutil, while putting his weight on his right leg. With blades locked, Nexus pushed against the Zabrak's blade. He used this tactic as an attempt to lure Rutil's attention to the deadly weapons in their hands rather than around him. As he pressed against the jedi's blade with his own, he slid his right leg forward slightly, and kicked outwards with his left, sending an armored boot towards the kneecap of the jedi.

Lightning met blue plasma with a sharp sizzle before dissipating into nothingness. The Dark Lord ceased his barrage as the jedi approached, aware of its futility, though he did not step back. Instead, he held his ground. Locking both hands around the elongated hilt of his weapon, he lashed out with his crimson blade, seeking to meet the blue blade of the jedi and lock against it.

Nexus did not flinch as his enemy charged. As still as a stone, Nexus resembled a great dark statue, crafted by a great baroque artist, with brutal detail. He soaked in the darkside, letting it ebb and flow within him, waiting for the jedi to make the first move. He did so, bursting forth in a blur of force speed, bringing with him a wave of sand and dust, which was clearly intended to blind the Dark Lord.
He succeeded, but it was for naught- Nexus had spent many years in Tattooine, and he grew accustomed to the harshness of sand and dust. When the sand hit him he immediately closed his eyes, ignoring the stinging irritation and allowed the force to become his eyes.
In a sea of darkness, Rutil glowed brightly, as jedi did. Taking a step back, Nexus pressed the ignition switch on his lightsaber, birthing a blood-red blade in a snap hiss, though he did not use it. Instead, he reached towards Rutil with his free hand, allowing arcs of sith lightning to blast from his finger tips, towards the glowing jedi.

Malevolent energy was nearly palpable in the arena, as the boy-child giggled and jabbered. Nexus decided not to wait for his opponent to talk him to death. Suddenly the dark side spiked, and Nexus' empty right hand lifted and summoned a weapon far deadlier than his sith sword- the force.
It came in the form of an invisible wave of surging telekinetic energy, which erupted from the Dark Lords hand, crossing over the gap between himself and Cassel just as the boy child ignited his lightsaber. Patience and tolerance were the traits of a jedi, and Nexus was no jedi.
As he released the Force Wave, he lowered his right hand, wrapping it around the long hilt of his sith sword, gripping it tightly, drinking in the weapons power. He looked back at Cassel, with a glimmer of something evil in his eye. The time for words was past.

Once more into the fray...
The maelstrom of voices in Nexus's mind fell silent for a moment, as the powerful voice of Darth Sanctus spoke out from within. Darth Sanctus was a master of lightsaber combat, and preferred to combine forms, rather than sticking to one. This unorthodox combat method made him extremely deadly, and the voices respected that. After all, this was his element.
Nexus felt the power of the force, and natural strength, coursing through his veins as he charged towards Ishmael. There was a moment of brief respect as the man saluted- Nexus noted it but gave no response. Instead, as he closed, he focused on his next course of action, channeling the force deep within himself. Then it happened.
Ishmael's blade snapped outwards, seeking to carve a burning hole through the flesh of this new vessel. Some would shy away from the challenge, but not Nexus. He channeled the soul of Sanctus, using his memories, experiences and impulses to guide him. As he closed in, Nexus felt instinct taking over.
His blade remained deadly still until the end, then suddenly shifted with sudden purpose. Nexus brought out his left arm ever so slightly, slapping his saber against the middle of Ishmael's blade, pushing against it in a forceful parry to his left (Ishmael's right), attempting to guide the blades away from them. As he parried, he twisted slightly, bringing his right shoulder slightly forward, then pushed his right hand outwards towards Ishmael and unleashed arcs of lightning from his finger tips, hoping to catch the sith's unguarded torso.

And so it began. The thunder clapped, the opponent's blade flashed into existence, and battle commenced. There was a moment of silence after the proclamation- a moment that Nexus did not allow to go unnoticed. Then came a ripple, which he felt as his opponent summoned the force to bend to his will.
Nexus did the same, tapping into their combined auras. Most would use this moment to prepare a defense mechanism, but the dark warrior believed that the best defense was a good offense. The offensive began just as Ishmael's will made the force extend in his direction. As the grip clasped his head and began turning, Nexus' right hand shot forward, releasing a torrent of kinetic energy. The force push was not extremely powerful, yet it was enough to potentially break Ishmael's concentration, and ideally cause him to stagger.
If success was granted in breaking concentration, Nexus would take the opportunity to press the attack. Bringing his left arm up and slightly outwards, he tucked his left elbow back, he brought the searing crimson blade up at level with his upper abdomen, poised forward like a lance, then he charged at his opponent, ready to strike at his opponent, or parry a potential strike if need be.

It was said among some wise men, that the fiercest of battles and the greatest of wars occurred when darkness clashed with darkness. This saying was ancient, yet proven time and time again in history, and today it was to be proved once more.
A challenge was given, one that was graciously accepted. It was the way of the Forsworn to challenge, to test- the sith believe themselves forged by fire, but the Forsworn believe themselves to be the flame.
And so the battle began, with the arrival of the challenged, a sith by the name of Ishmael, who awaited the test. He did not have to wait long. The challenger game from the west, under the guise of black robes. He walked, though if asked from where, or why, the man would not say. He drew closer to Ishmael, and as he did so, his darkness became more and more tangible.
A fire- chaotic and deadly, yet useful in the correct applications, that was what this man was, and his aura defined him. To a jedi, a chill would be felt, followed by a wave of nausea, then a blurry mind; yet to a sith, power could be felt, raw and untamed. This man was a walking nexus of the darkside, such was why he was granted his name.
He drew closer, close enough for Ishmael to note his features. The man was pale, tall and lean, standing at 6'2" with ice blue eyes and obsidian black hair, wearing a pair of black slacks, with matching black boots, and cloth hand wraps. He was a shade of darkness. The lower half of his face was covered by a bone mempo, which guarded his expressions, though his ice blue eyes conveyed the man's true expression. It was a sinister sort of joy that shone from the blue, the sort that could only be found in the eyes of a being that loved chaos.
He slowed his stride to an eventual stop, seven meters away from his opponent. He stood with his feet a shoulder length's apart, facing his opponent. It was now that Ishmael could see the lightsaber in his left hand, as well as a second hilt hanging from his left hip. Both hilts were longer than normal, however the length of the second hilt suggested that it was a double bladed weapon.
Angling the hilt away from him, the man's thumb slid over the pressure plate, igniting a blood red blade of heat and light with a snap hiss. It was a wordless challenge- for men like Ishmael, Nexus had no words, only actions.
