The Dark Lord would have smiled at the calculated response from Panno, had he not lapsed into the mindset of war. Now was not the time for admiration or appreciation. Now was the time to fight, and kill or be killed. As their blades locked, Panno made the mistake of presuming that talking would further him in the fight; whether he was terrible at Dun Moch, or if he simply presumed Nexus cared for his opinion, it worked against him. In those seconds where he could have continued to press the attack, he allowed Nexus to take another step.
Suddenly the red glow of his saber was gone, and the weight against Panno's saber was lifted; depending on the reflexes of the military trained force user, he might be able to level the playing field on time, yet that remained to be seen. As quickly as it was gone, the crimson beam was seen again, though this time it was aimed in the opposite direction, arcing up towards Panno's incoming fist. [/s[am]
The Dark Lord had many tricks up his sleeve. This was one- combining the use of Form Zero with a double bladed lightsaber, he extinguished the blade engaged in the saber lock, and ignited the free secondary blade. Removing his right hand from the hilt, he twisted the weapon, guiding the newly ignited secondary blade into Panno's attacking hand with a sudden, unexpected ferocity as the second blade sparked to life.
With the current trajectory, the blade was meant to meet the wrist of the Imperial Knight. Nexus was no fool- he knew that his bracers were almost definitely infused with cortosis. The attack was meant to be a warning shot; Panno needed to stop talking and start focusing on fighting. However if his bracer wasn't infused with cortosis and the Dresellian wasn't quick enough, he would be short one hand. Nexus was also mindful of the fact that the barrier between his body and Panno's lightsaber was now gone, and raised that free right hand up to his midsection; the hand that was previously closed in a fist opened and moved forward in a thrusting motion, unleashing a force push that was only strong enough to potentially move Panno back a few feet, with the intention of actively pushing him out of striking range, and ideally cause him to lose balance.
The whole while, the Dark Lord's eyes were bold, seeming to glow with the glee of battle.

The Dark Lord twisted his lips into a sinister grin as the Imperial Knight readied himself for combat. There were ways to end a fight quickly and brutally, yet that was not what Nexus wanted. He wanted to stretch his muscles and feed his blade with the heat of battle. This would be a good long fight, with a predetermined end in mind.
The Dark Lord's armor covered his forearms, shin, thighs, torso and one shoulder. The asymmetric plates seemed to form a dark, perversely beautiful mosaic which allowed Nexus to move faster than if he was fully clad, yet grant him a substantial amount of protection on the battle field. Yet this was no battlefield. This was his domain, and as such, he reached up slowly and unfastened the breast and back plates, as well as his thigh plates; leaving only his gauntlets and armored knee high boots. They fell at his feet with a loud clatter. Then, the Dark Lord stepped over them with a patient, yet ominous step. As he stepped over the armor, he reached behind his back, procuring an elongated hilt that almost certainly held a second emitter. The hilt itself was wrought from a black metal, laced with veins of electrum.
He held the blade in his left hand, bringing it at level with his hips. His thumb slid over the activation plate. With a firm click, the all too familiar snap hiss of a lightsaber was music to his ears. The room was basked in a crimson glow. He held his ground for a few seconds, then, he charged with a burst of speed that seemed unnatural for a man of his side.
As he bolted towards Panno, he was mindful of the Dressellian's lightsaber, ready to ward a preemptive defense. Bringing his second hand onto the hilt, he brought the weapon from his left side to a high striking poise on his right. To the untrained eye, it appeared that he was going for a diagonal, over hand strike for Panno's left shoulder. But Panno had trained eyes, and Nexus wanted to make sure that he used them. As he brought the blade down, he shifted its course half way through the strike. A feint. Instead of going for Panno's left shoulder, he swung the blade in a tight arc, adjusting its course to aim for the midsection of Panno's left thigh. The feint was as swift as it was precise- no more than a blur of red to the untrained eyes of a non-force sensative. But Nexus hoped Panno would see it coming, or else this would be a very short fight.

The piercing shriek of the wounded beast was drowned out by the booming laughter of the dark lord, who was clearly enjoying the show. Then both ended, with the sound of a sickening crunch as the beast's head snapped into an awkward angle. The limp corpse fell to the floor, soon to be engulfed by a blanket of fog. In that brief moment, Nexus' aura amplified, as the pain and suffering of the animal was consumed by the darkness within him. He was no longer laughing. His eyes were locked upon Panno and his lightsaber. The Dark Lord made no move for his weapons.
"Thank you for the show, and the sacrifice. Now it is time for you to leave with a message for your empire..."
The air around the shrouded man seemed to shimmer with malice, and his ice blue eyes seemed to be much more vivid now. The time for talk was over. Shrugging his shoulders, his cloak fell from his body with a soft rustle as it hit the ground, disappearing beneath the fog. Now Panno could see the man he was dealing with. Standing at an impressive 6'5" and weighing in at 245 lbs of raw muscle mass, which could be seen even through his armor.

The teeth of the shadow could be seen, shining in the darkness. Straight and white- shown in not a snarl, but a smile. It seemed that Panno amused whomever he woke. He let out a deep chuckle from the throat, then slowly took a step back. When he smiled, Panno could feel a pulse of raw darkness- what was it that he was meddling in? Who was this apparent fossil that sat on an old chair in an older ruin. He did not make any threatening movements, yet his aura and size could assure the Imperial Knight that he was very much a threat.
"One man? No. I am not one man...I am something else..."
The darkness seemed tangible- it was hard to fathom, yet surely Panno, as an Imperial would know that he stood upon the soil once tainted by the Abomination that Darth Sideous had become. They stood on a force nexus, which reacted to the mysterious figure. Sight of the ground was lost to them, as a low hanging fog crept from the walls, covering the floor. The occasional arc of energy could be seen, climbing up the walls. The figure's posture seemed to change, growing straighter and more threatening than before.
To the trained eyes and senses of an Imperial Knight, the darkness was not the sheer terror that it was to most- instead it was a stomach turning, mind numbing fog, much like the one at their feet. Had it been only the knight and the shrouded figure, the darkside nexus' effect would not be as dangerous. Yet they were not alone. A low whimper echoed throughout the chamber, as a dark figure whimpered in the corner. The vornskr was far more susceptible to the lure of the dark side; their potent connection in the force, coupled with their feral nature made the nexus a very terrifying place. While in Pannos eyes, they stood in a fog filled room with nought but a throne in the center, but to the Vornskr, there was much more to be seen.
Tendrils of black smoke crawled up the wall, squirming and slithering, akin to serpents summoned from hell. Then the whispering slowly bored its way into the creature's mind. The whine turned into a low, angry grown. The shrouded man laughed once more.
"Quite the companion; a true apex predator. Did you know that when Vornskr evolved to hunt through the force, they developed a particular taste...one for force users. The funny thing is, here, in my domain, she cannot see me- which leaves only one force user to sate her hunger..."
And just like that, the beast lunged, turning on the hand that fed her- the vornskr made for Panno's throat. All the while, Nexus laughed.

A low chuckle reverberated througout the room. It sounded more like a rumbling of stones than laughter. Then suddenly, the behemoth shrouded in darkness, who was previously several feet away from him, was now inches away from his face. He cast a shadow over the large Dressellian; the darkness was nearly overwhelming at this point.
"Does the empire teach you nothing of its roots? Of the ones who gave it the true power which it once held, centuries ago? Children of Fel are but a shadow of what the empire once was...and I am the source of that ancient power."
The Dark Lord watched Panno, his eyes hungry for conflict and violence. He sought to push the Dressellian to violence. Standing so close, tearing old wounds open once more. The Sith were what he meant. The sith were what gave the Galactic Empire true power. Now, true sith were few and far apart. The Dark Lord towered over Panno, seeming larger than he was. He spoke out, in a low, yet thunderous voice.
"Your pathetic shadow of an 'Empire' allowed me nothing. I am not given anything. What I want, I take; your masters simply know better than to stand in my way...luckily for them, I have not wanted anything in a long time, but I sense that will change soon..."
He let out that low chuckle again. His eyes pierced the veil; the force felt for him, and in this abode, it bent to his will; it was broken here, subservient to one being. Him.

As the shadowed figure rose to his feet, Panno could hear the sound of polished metal plates rubbing against one another. Armored. Even without the added imposition of his armor, it was clear that the man who resided within this catacomb was an impressive specimen for humanoids. While tattered linen covered his armor, the vague outline of heavy plate armor could be noted, depending on how sharp and attentive Panno's eyes were.
A deep inhale could be heard from the hooded behemoth that rose from the throne- one not unlike one that the vorsknr at Panno's side would do when hunting prey. The figure was probing. Testing, or perhaps merely sensing- could the potency of those ice-like eyes be a deceptive cloak for blindness? No, though the man who owned them considered them to be more of a weakness than anything.
"I sense the force in you, Dressellian...and you reek of Imperial Standard paint and cloth. What is a child of Fel doing so far away from home? Dare you seek to claim the final frontier of the Deep Core?"
The figure took a step towards the imperial knight; suddenly the force felt almost pungent, as though corrupted by the presence of the dark figure.
"Or perhaps it is freedom that you seek...that is the ideal that your kind admires, is it not? Quite the ironic sight, a dressellian lap-boy for the Empire..."

Alt time line from Fael's post
The dying fortress welcomed the intruder with a hungry maw, as the main doors to the hanger had been blasted open, leaving only a mosaic of jagged metal where the door once stood. There was a cold so foreign that it could make even the reptilian Imperial Knight's skin crawl. There was a soft whisper, sounding no different than a light breeze, but if one focused enough to listen, they would hear an eerie spectral voice beckoning them forth.
The darkness that permeated on Byss' surface ebbed and pulsated, spiking occasionally as a subtle hint to Panno that he was heading in the right direction. Were it not for these spikes in the force, it would seem that the Citadel was all but abandoned. The crumbled walls, once adorned with majestic banners were now covered in tatters of faded cloth. The marble floor had several cracks and dents that ran deep, suggesting that time was not the only perpetrator for this decay. The force pulled at Panno, drawing him deeper into the fortress. So much destruction, yet there were no bodies to be seen. The once proud statues were the only remnant of the life that once filled these halls.
Deeper still, the force pulled, beckoning Panno into smaller corridors, and more obscure passages- ones that could have easily been missed by a looter. Eventually, the darkness grew in potency, as Panno found himself standing before a set of darkened doors, untouched by the time and destruction wrought on the rest of the fortress.
>>Come to me...<<
The spectral voice seemed to itch at the back of Panno's mind, urging him down a narrow set of stairs with no end in sight. If he made it to the bottom, the stairs would eventually widen, becoming less constricting. The stairs led to a massive subterranean chamber, with a high vaulted ceiling. The room's walls and floors were made of black obsidian, which was oddly warm to the touch. It bore none of the regal decor of the fortress, but instead held only a large jagged throne. In the dim light of this chamber, Panno could see little as far as detail to the throne, though there was something on it. A person, large in stature.
Then the cold came, as the figure on the chair stirred, lifting its hooded head. Even in the darkness, his ice blue eyes seemed to shine with a malicious gleam. A voice called out, deep and filled with power. As he spoke, the room seemed to reverberate in awe. A light crackle of energy could be heard as though there was an exposed wire somewhere.
"Who is it that breaks my slumber?"

Some believed the force to be a sentient entity- not only did it flow through things, acting and reacting, but it gave subtle nudges. Destiny, some called it. No one can truly know whether the force had a collective consciousness, but hints would suggest to it from time to time. This was one such time. The darkside pulsated from the forgotten garden world, slow yet deliberate- consistent for a time, until the Imperial Knight focused his thoughts on the Dark Lord of Chaos. The reaction was sudden; a low, thrumming roar, heard in the ears of all on the planet, or near it. Those who could feel the force would notice a sudden spike of potency; nausea came suddenly as the ebbs of darkness became a tidal wave of pain, misery and death. Chaos.
Then, as quickly as it had come, the sensation was gone, and the force had returned to its usual ebb and flow, as though nothing had happened. Byss' communications remained silent- the planet was long since abandoned, yet somewhere on the surface, a great darkness stirred from a long slumber.

The world of Byss was no stranger to the deathly silence of peace. Such was the irony of its nature; in war, when all surrounding planets knew fear and death, Byss knew prosperity and life, yet in times of peace, it would grow stagnant, wilting and withering, until it was nothing more than a husk of a world- a distant memory. This nature was birthed by its ruler, a man feared by his title; Nexus, the Dark Lord of Chaos who made the planet the seat of his throne, built upon the bones and carrion of those ill fated enough to stand before him on the field of war. Under the reign of this Dark Lord, Byss learned to embrace the cycle of war, peace, prosperity, and silence. Yet never before had such a lengthy time of silence occurred. Ten years had passed since Byss grew silent; ten years of peace. Yet that era was coming to a close, and Byss would soon wake from its slumber once more.
The age of silence had left its mark on the garden world. It was no longer filled with the armor clad legion of chaos, nor the neon lights and deafening sound of prosperity. Today, Byss was a husk of its former glory, and at its heart was the crumbling remnants of Black Stone Citadel. Once the seat of power, built upon the ashes of numerous predecessors, this fortress had not fallen victim to bombardment and battle scars; instead, the Black Stone Citadel was dying from a much slower parasite- inaction. With the legion disbanded, and the galaxy at peace, the Dark Lord of Chaos lost the seat of his power. In a time of war, he was a necessary force, yet in a time of peace, he was none more than a remnant of the dark history of the galaxy.
Deep beneath the bowels of the long forgotten tower, the Dark Lord sat on a throne of bones and memories. Here it was that he slumbered, awaiting the next great battle that would call towards him. Until then, the stagnant nature of peace kept him in a stasis of sorts, for he was a being of war, and a harbinger of death; one that was necessary for the galaxy.
Without order, nothing can exist; without chaos, nothing can evolve.
Upon his throne, the Dark Lord did slumber, awaiting his time to roam the galaxy, leaving behind nothing more than a path of bones and blood, riddled with myth and legend.

Breath fogged before the emperors lips. A cruel smile graced them. Darth Sidious, ruler of the galaxy, happened across a new champion- a champion of great power. Here, in his thrown room, he had the pleasure of putting that champion to the test. Little and less was known of the champion himself, a warrior who claimed many names; Nexus, Apocalypse, Malakaii, Absolom.
There was a great, terrible silence in the throne room, one that Sidious dare not break. Instead, it was broken by the echo of footsteps; slow, deliberate footsteps, which echoed from the western corridor. Darkness shrouded these steps, the same very darkness that seemed to surround the champion. Finally, he stepped into the light of the throne room.
At first glance, there was not much to this man. While he was tall, and carried himself with an intimidating demeanor, he was shrouded in tattered robes that had seen too many journeys. The shrouded man walked to the center of the room, hands concealed within the folds of his robes. There he stopped and stood. He did not meet the haunting golden eyes of Sidious, but instead stood utterly still.
He was waiting...

Well, I know way back how the I.R was interested in consolidating the entire deep core- though Byss never joined. We could have a story that has the established peace between Byss and the IR broken (preferably with you lot as the aggressors) and go from there. I was thinking something along the lines of the IR capturing what they presume to be a Byss scouting vessel that wandered too deep into IR space and gets shot down. In actuality the vessel was to negotitate a peace and with the crew being executed Nexus gets pissed and attacks the IR

Hey guys,
For those of you who don't already know me, my name is Nex. I am on and off with JvS since I have a busy life, but also because I can't seem to find an RP that enthralls me like the old days. I love war and violence, but I can toy around with other themes. I am not looking to join a faction or pick up an apprentice- I just want something that interests me.

"I have carried many names in my time Jud'dayus. Ensure the galaxy knows them all...not that it will save them."
He watched as Jud'dayus retreated from the encounter- the silence hung in the air, the sort that came before the storm. Then the storm came, in the form of profane confusion from the child. Nexus looked at Lux, noting the anger, confusion and annoyance in her eyes. Good. She had potential.
As Jud'dayus began his long ascent from the depths of Byss, Nexus sheathed Reaver and approached the holocron, looking at it in silence. This was the silence that came after the storm- the silence of uncertainty. Was it over? Or had it just begun. He let Lux simmer in the silence- he was not going to grant her an answer just because she demanded one. She would learn that answers were granted to those that earned them.
The Dark Lord stood before the towering holocron, basking in its eerie crimson glow, which pulsated faintly. With each glow, he seemed more and more evil, as though he were basking in the blood of the slain. His eyes gave no emotion away, nor did his stature. Still and silent, the harbinger of death and the paragon of chaos watched the obelisk.
