[/ul][/ul] *The group of Thyrsians make their way into a relatively roomy shuttle cabin, and take their seats. All except for one, a male named Kavaun Denth, who obtusely insisted on remaining standing and holding on to a straphanger.*
*High-speed maglev shuttles are a necessary component of Kuat Drive Yard's infrastructure. The planet Kuat is a mid-to-small world at only 10,000 kilometers in diameter, but in order to remain stable, the orbital station is suspended an average distance of 1,000 kilometers past the outer reaches of atmosphere. So the station itself is more like 17,000 kilometers from end-to-end. And, somewhat unfortunately, the location of the main commercial spaceport is on the opposite end of the structure from the business offices of KDY. That's where the high-speed transport comes in. Housed in an evacuated monorail tube traversing the perimeter of the station, the passenger transport reaches starfighter-esque speeds and turns the equivalent of a multi-continent spanning journey into a question of a half an hour (maybe a little longer, once you take all the stops into account).*
*As the faint whine of the vehicle screaming through the magnetic fields surrounds them, the group of Thyrsians make little conversation. One of the females sitting on the bench runs a hand over her head, tracing the palm from forehead to the base of her dark brown ponytail. Her lips twist slightly as a thought has occurred to her. She addresses the group.**The team contemplates for a second. The lad who had pulled up the holocaster earlier is the first to nod his assent. The rest then fell into agreement. The woman who posed the question pulls out a small device from her utility belt - a CQ-3.99 holograph projector. She browses through a few screens on the GUI before evidently finding what she had been looking for. With a click of a button, the CQ-3.99 shares the active data with the sister devices on all the others' belts (which light up in turn). Each pulls out his or her projector and mounts it in a devoted spot on the belt buckle, and activates it.*
*In turn, a holoshroud shimmers into existence. Rather than the overt brutalism of wearing a suit of armor into a business office, the shroud casts a smart-looking three piece formal suit over its bearer. A knowing smile is passed from one to the other. A holoshroud is really a versatile tool; one of the best out of the many ways to avoid cultural insensitivity that the universe has produced. And they don't even have to shed their armor for it. (Still, those suits of armor really start to smell terrible after a while so the Thyrsians have to be diligent about sticking to a good cleaning routine, and holoshrouds are no substitute for a regularly-scheduled laundry day)*
[/ul][/ul] *The Thyrsians stride into the open-concept floorspace of the business face of Kuat Drive Yards. Five in front, and five in the back, formation staggered, immaculately-rendered tailored suits perfectly accenting the dark skin distinctive to the Thyrsian race (except, of course, for Callum, who is Echani): this looks like a high-profile business team. What might catch the notice of someone with a keen eye for detail (such as Administrator Voss, if he weren't in a meeting at the moment) is the fact that the entire group walks in time. Partly due to the military training of this group, and partly due to their culture of reading body language to such a degree, it is purely natural for Thyrsians to step with the same leg at the same time as those they are walking with. That is not something that one expects to see from a business team. Small details.*
*A much more likely-noticed, large detail, is the fact that the warriors have slung their distinctive Sun Guard helmets on their backs, making use of shoulder straps that (naturally) complement their suits. Large details. Yes, that's not a thing that most business people have; but somehow, they're making the odd accessory work with the ensemble. Fine-looking warrior race businessmen. The group makes their way towards the next available receptionist to state their business.*

The Imperial sat in his office attending the meeting with the other First Order administrators at the other shipyards. In her youthful wisdom, Grand Moff Thul had presented the idea for the shipyards to specialize in what they produce for the First Order. He could see her thinking with Rendili now under her direction. There just really wasn't a way to do it with the companies still maintaining a semblance of privatized ownership. But the Grand Moff requested the investigation, so he and others would look into it. As the meeting was finishing up, the Administrator noticed some new arrivals to the business lobby. Wealthy military types by the look of them. The Administrator smiled, these were the types coming to buy a fleet. He maintained a watch and waited for one of the receptionists to meet with them. If they were the spenders he was expecting, he would get a call soon.

*The next available receptionist turned out to be a young male Zeltron. He had just gotten off of a routine comm call - somebody who needed re-routed to Kuat-Entralla Drive Yards' service center. The man makes a bit longer than a standard blink as he replaced the comm unit to the receptacle. Customers always seem to dial the first contact they find on the Holonet without stopping to think about who they actually need to get a hold of. With a slight jog of his chin, the customer service smile returns to his lips and he makes eye contact with the Thyrsian group to indicate that he would accommodate them now.*
*He was mildly taken aback to note that they were already moving towards the desk by the time his gaze fell upon them. Undeterred, his professionalism demands him to deliver the standard greeting.**One of the female Thyrsians stepped forward. Setting forward an identichip onto the countertop between them, she speaks.**Yaevac nods, and accepts the identichip.**He stands up and walks away from the front desk into the adjunct room (out of view of the Thyrsian guests), where he slides the identichip into a databank terminal. As the information is uploaded and the computer system begins pulling holonet data on Thyrsus, Yaevac glances up at a wall display. Holoportraits of the latest batch of employees-of-the-month are proudly displayed - but his name is not among them. His gaze alights on the likeness of a Twi'lek man, Office Worker #7, Raloren Sondragg. A scowl envelops his visage.*
*A soft beep indicates completion of the data search. Yaevac withdraws the identicard, visually scans over the summary screen, quickly inserts his employee data cylinder, and makes a cache of the data. Walking back out into the main reception area, his beaming smile greets the Thyrsians. Sliding the identichip back to Nola Jir, he bows his head slightly and sits back down in his spartan swivel chair.**He pulls up the internal comm and dials the Business Department.**He looks up at the Thyrsians.**Callum's head droops slightly and Kavaun pats his shoulder sympathetically.**The rest of Yaevac's cookiecutter spiel is cut off by another buzz on the comm.**Callum's head perks right back up at these words. Yaevac concludes the call, and then addresses the group at whole once again.**And just like that, the entourage was on their way to see Administrator Voss. Following a 9PO-series droid, the group makes their way to the elevators. Per usual, the group is nearly silent. Tight-lipped, all about business, striding with purpose and power. They look awesome. A short trip later, and the 9PO droid is ushering them into a spacious room with excessively panoramic window views over one of the manufacturing lines. At their entry, Administrator Voss and his entourage turn themselves away from the scene of magnificent construction work, swiveling with dramatic flair to greet the Thyrsians.*

The adminstrator secived the somons and looked at the information uploaded from the data card. Big spender, was the main thing he got from it. These kind of clients were why a member of the board was always on duty. These types of clients weren't looking to buy ships, they were looking to buy fleets. He stood up and straightened out his uniform, gave his Lieutenant Colonel bar a quick buff and made sure his rank cylinders were straight. He smiles as he greats the gathered group in the conference room. Greetings, I am Administrator Voss, on behalf of Kuat Drive Yards and the First Order, let me bid you welcome. Please, have a seat and tell me how we can help you.

[/ul][/ul] *It was the first time that the First Order had been mentioned by name, but it came as no surprise to the Thyrsians to hear the affiliation between that empire and the KDY business. All over the station, there had been on-and-off-duty stormtroopers milling about here and there. Moreover, the star destoryers in orbit and the TIE/fo fighters in their hangar bay racks further stood to reinforce the point. Administrator Voss's brazen admission of membership did not reinforce the truth so much as it did expose by its matter-of-factness how far from his mind any other notion was: Kuat Drive Yards is under the oversight of the First Order. Ten pairs of eyes stare alertly but silently back at him and his compatriots as his greeting echoes around the spacious room.*
*Nola Jir is the first to approach the oval-shaped conference table. Onyx, mirror-polished. Delightfully elegant. She speaks up.*

The Administrator smiled and forced himself not to laugh. Everyone that came in wanted to see behind the scenes, everyone felt entitled to it. No one ever got to see it, not the real view. There were too many secrets back there. Most of the ship yards of note were under First Order control, but there was still competition between them. Even Rendili, a system in the same over sector was not beyond looking for insider secrets. Because of this, a tour rout was set up, it showed nothing really. It would show each ship that Kuat produced and some point in construction. The tour designer did not think it was of note that the tour had space views from all around the station, anyone that took it would get a view of the yards built in defenses, and the array of ships in orbit. Guardian Jir, thank you for coming to Kuat for this. We are the best choice, we do have the most complete line of ships available in the galaxy. I would love to take you on a tour to see every ship class we are producing at the moment, unfortunately no one is allowed on the production floor.

*Nola's gaze remains fixed on Voss. She slowly places her left hand on the table, palm down, and curls her index finger slowly forward and backward. The natural skin oils leave the slightest of streaks on the polished black surface in the wake of the motion. She tilts her head slightly to the side and continues.*

Just a standard waiver and non disclosure agreement. If you are a spy from Bilbringi, anything information gained will be subject to suit. The Administer laughs jokingly. He hands out data pads linked to the tour, they will explain and expand on each ship as they go through the facility, costs and features mostly, some explanations that really didn't say anything but sounded good.Right this way.

*As Voss moves to deliver the datapads to the Thyrsian ensemble, the group rises in unison from their seats. Each is handed his or her own pad, and nods a wordless 'thank you' to the Administrator. And, after receiving, each datapad flickers on with a soft blue glow and a barely-perceptible hum as the screen comes to life. Some of the Sun Guard are content to gaze at the screen, or at the Administrator, or at the other attendants to the tour; but one, the youngest, is fixated on the datapad itself. He turns it to and fro in his hand, swipes the screen, presses all the buttons at least once, and so forth. Without wrestling his eyes from the device, he and all the others gather at the door of the conference room, ready to be escorted through the facility. In the slight hubbub from chairs being rolled out and pushed back in, one of the Thyrsians inclines his head towards Allan and murmurs.*[/ul] *As the group now stands ready, Nola addresses Voss once more.*

This way then.He begins the tour, most of it standard drival, some dates of additions, changes in corporate direction before they get to the first window overlooking a construction bay. Inside, a dagger-shaped corvette is taking shape. This is the newest model to be produced here. This is the Hereb-Class Executive Transport. This Is one of, if not the fastest ships Kuat produces, both in flight and in hyperspace. It is moderately armed but is more than capable of holding off and fighters it cannot outfly. It is complete with the best communications array anywhere, allowing its commander to be in constant communication with anyone in the galaxy. Grand Moff Thul has told me herself that she has used it to cut through the Chaos in the unknown regains as easily as we are talking now. Many think that it is only the big Destroyers that can turn a battle, and that is what we have built our reputation on, but we like to remind people that the small ships can be even more important. A leader can be all places with this in their fleet.

*At right around 100 meters in length, the Hereb-class Executive Transport does not rely on a dominant stature to strike its chord. Rather, the sleek frame - unmistakably reminiscent of its Imperial predecessors - boasts a colossal engine array that, even without the specs being announced via the tour-link datapads in the hands of the Thyrsians, supports the claims being made by Administrator Voss. This is, without a doubt, one of if not the fastest vessels on the contemporary market.
Most of the tour until now had been exposition rather than showcase. Accordingly, the Thyrsians had not spoken much, but rather exchanged knowing glances and gestures here and there as appropriate. This was the first time that a question had been raised so far.**The asker was a young man who had introduced himself at the onset of the tour as Dexton Shear. He was also the same lad who had been the boldest about exploring the features of the datapads. Prior to posing the question, he'd raised his left hand in the classic schoolboy means of signaling for attention; as his statement ended, he brought it in a slow arc back to the frame of the handheld tour device gripped by his right. There was an unspoken question behind his question.*

The businessman smiles as the tour continues. Not yet, it is a relatively new design. Those that have heard of it and seen it, demand it. Unfortunately we are still trying to get the word out on it. Its many also feel its light armament keeps it from being a true warship, but I feel those people lack vision, there is more to war than shooting. The most high demand has been the same ship for years. The Imperial II, when you make the standard that all other ships are judged by, that standard tends to hold. Everyone knows that ship well, so we do not normally spend much time looking at that. They continue moving to a new window. Outside this one a Star Frigate sits under construction. This ship is one of my personal favorites. The real main reason was it sold many fighters as well making it incredibly profitable. The Maxima A- Heavy Cruiser is possibly the best carrier ever produced. Solid weapons base, but it can carry 18 squadrons of fighters, the presence of one of these allows for more specialized ships in a fleet.

*'Best carrier ever produced' might be an understatement. 18 squadrons, or 216 total starfighters, works out to a litle more than 1 starfighter for every 4 meters of length in the 800-meter-long ship. 'Most efficient carrier that will ever be developed' is probably more accurate.
A glance is exchanged between Nola Jir and Kavaun Denth. A beat elapses. And then Kavaun spoke up.*

Like most Kuat Drive Yards products, it was built with flexibility in mind, we can build them to your needs. However, TIE variants do seem to work best, especially the one we manufacture here. Our Predators can be used for mock up to make sure everything fits correctly. TIE variants also allow use of rack systems for faster deployment. In fact...The Administrator had an idea. He reached and grabbed his priority com-link. He turned away as he imputed he command codes and spoke to someone on the other side.Commander, this is Administrator Voss. I was curious if it was time for an emergency readiness drill for your fighter squadrons... Yes... Only if it is no trouble... He did? Wonderful! Thank you for this, I will send you a bottle of Reserve from my family stock. Thank you. He put the commlink back in its place on his belt, smiling. I was able to arrange a demonstration of what they can do, please follow me.He lead the group to another window looking out into open space. The fleet was in orbit past the drive yards. The outline of the Maxima A was evident.I asked for a readiness drill. You will see orange lights light up on the hull of the Maxima A signaling the alert status, Internally all pilots will be ordered to their ships at that point, feel free to time it from there.

*At first, it was not entirely clear what Administrator Voss's play was, here. But in the context of the evolving comm call... As the ensemble was led to the transparisteel viewport, and the drill explained, Nola nodded. She brought her left hand to her chin, first two fingers extended, and then swept them down across the upper part of her thigh.*[/ul] *In perfect answer to their attentiveness, a veritable fusillade of starfighters screams past the Kuat Drive Yards station. The majestic sight of fighters and bombers darting by in immaculate formation is a sight to behold. In the background, a group of passerby, including Office Worker #7, Raloren Sondragg, momentarily pauses en route to their next appointment and stares at the display. The Thyrsians have seen TIE/sf Fighters and TIE Predators before, but the other models (the Nssisi and Demolishers) are unfamiliar. As the acrobatics unfold, their focus is entirely devoted. And at the conclusion of the 8-minute cirque du planète, their scrutiny is returned to Voss. Kavaun speaks up once more.*

They may not be Kuat designs, but we do work closely with others. To push the replacement of the older designs, the Grand Moff has helped facilitate contracts to make many of the newer fighters where there is room. There is also an understanding. We make capital ships that work bests with certain configurations of fighters, and Sienar and other manufactures continue to make fighters that fit that configurations. They aren't all Sienar, the Nissi class interceptor, for example, is a recent design out of Rendilli. The administrator was very pleased with the display, and the performance of the fighters. There was a competitive partnership, selling one would benefit the other and visa versa.

He beams with pride at the first question. Coming from a Kuat family, he was very proud in his world, and saw it as a jewel of whatever collection of planets it was in. He wouldn't trade his place her for a station in the imperial palace its self. Severyn, my friend, this is Kuat Drive yards. We are one of, if not the largest production center in the galaxy. If it can be manufactured, we can and likely have manufactured it at one point. We have means here that no one else in the galaxy has. We have manufactured armadas and armies for centuries. Space and land wars are won at Kuat. He did pause a little, there was a surprising amount of interest in the inner workings of Kuat. The Administrator brushed it off. He enjoyed talking about it and just attributed it up to curiosity. It depends on the contract. Sometimes an entity will accept a bid to produce a certain number of products that they cannot meet. So they contact us and we negotiate a deal. Sometimes it is a piece of the original deal, other times it is an agreed upon price. The Emperor and Grand Moff encourage cooperation, and most embrace it. The might of the First Order comes from order and cooperation.

*If you were to ask the Son of Suns, order and cooperation are qualities that follow might, rather than precede it. The mighty have no need to cooperate with the feeble, and the imposition of order demands a tangible threat to enforce. This is why the stars, not the moons, are what deserve adulation. This is why the children of Eshan are misguided, and what brought about Callum's apostasy.*
*A subtle silence befalls the assembly at the conclusion of Voss's terrenialist soliloquy. A delicate, knife's-edge balance is imperative in the question of pride in one's own race and heritage. The Kuat system has a rich history and a magnificent reputation earned from its namesake planet. The Thyrsians have all heard what they needed to.*
*Nola Jir is the one who shatters the blanketing stillness with an attempt to re-focus.*

He continued the tour taking them by some of the larger command ships. The smaller ships like the Arripio and Conservator were under construction in orbital bays with floors. They were still held up with tractor beams and repulsers, but the floors allowed easier construction under the ship. The larger ships, the Autarch for example, had to be assembled and constructed in open bays with tugs, arms, and other vacuum equipment doing the work. We do of course still manufacture our more famous ships, but you of course have seen them before. Needless to say, we can produce anything you wish someplace in the yards. These our some of our command ship bays, these are ships to build a fleet around. The best choice depends on what you are hoping to accomplish.
