Simulator - S-22. Assessment Training: Ryan WalkerDoctor Seymour smirked as the Lieutenant fidgeted in the suit. Clearly he wasn't comfortable in such an intimate setting. The biometric suit was an engineering marvel, but in a suit like that, the man had no secrets....not that she was purposely looking over the man by any means. Shaking her head, she replied to the Lieutenant's request."Lieutenant, I believe you underestimate the realism of our simulations...besides, the simulations are preset programs. I do not have the clearance to alter them in anyway, and our operator, 'Buck', here, can only power up, run and power down the simulation as required. But I'm sure you will find the obstacle course to be more to your liking than you think...when you are ready, please proceed to the turbolift. It will take you down to the base level and then we can begin." Seymour motioned for Walker to make his way to the turbolift. The Good doctor had motioned for him to enter the turbolift, so Walker made his way over all the while fidgeting in the biometric suit. He really disliked how uncomfortable the suit was and could wait until he could change back into his trusted combat gear. He was curious to what the doctor had said about the obstacle course being to his liking. Walker thought about what that could entail the whole ride down inside of the turbolift, and while he was thinking about it another thought popped into his head. One that he hadn't thought about in while, as he was always in battle but with the free time he had while waiting for real combat the thought returned to him. It was more like he was remembering the last time he saw his family before his last deployment with the Galactic Alliance and how he said his goodbyes to his family a wife and son, then the turbolift dinged and the door opened and just like that Walker snapped back to the present and exited the turbolift. Simulator - S-22. Assessment Training: Ryan WalkerAs the lift doors parted, the simulation shimmered to life, replacing the stark white walls with a realistic image of Bogano, a forgotten world that played an important role during the Imperial Era. The massive sinkholes, towering mesas and virtually impassable terrain would prove to challenge Walker in ways he could only have imagined. A loudspeaker crackled to life, allowing Doctor Seymour to explain the challenge to him further.Your objective is clear, Lieutenant. From the "landing pad", you are to navigate your way across the terrain and reach the vault on the other side. Simple, yes, but be warned, there are active dangers you will have to contend with as you traverse across the map. The Biometric Suit will monitor your vitals and is capable of administering bacta should you be injured. How you navigate the terrain and deal with the dangers is entirely up to you. Good luck. And there it was. The objective was simple and straightforward. The terrain, however, was rather unforgiving. And the chatter of Splox, a native insect of Bogano, as well as the other wildlife that inhabited the planet could be heard. The humidity from the standing water and the sunlight overhead would make strenuous activities all the more exhausting. All in all, it certainly was a challenge worthy of Walker's abilities.

With the introduction of the Organization's infiltration suit, Aedon knew he would have the tools he needed to gain the upper hand on the droid units. He was already beginning to form a plan in his mind, although that plan hinged on a few key components being available to him. He'd need whatever EM ordnance he could get his hands on, and ion weapons. Maybe they'd have something he could use in the ready room? He'd need to move forward in order to find out.Aedon rocked forward, standing as soon as his feet hit the ground.
"All right then! Wish me luck!" He looked over towards his jacket, then gave it a quick point "Do ya think they might be able to fix...? Nah, nevermind. Forget I said anything. I'll be back!"
He exited the observation deck, heading down the hall and the subsequent stairs toward the ready room. Once he entered, he noticed that it was little more than a locker room, with a few droid attendants - which looked like some of the Rampart droids he was set to take on in the simulation. One of them stood, waiting, with the infiltration suit in hand. As Aedon approached, a disembodied, soothing female voice came over the ready room's intercom.
Welcome to the Combat and Tactics Simulator, Simulation Two-One-Eight-Seven: Felucian Jungle; Satellite Data Retrieval Tactical Assessment. My given name is "Azura"; I am the Virtual Intelligence assigned to this installation for the purpose of preparing operatives - such as yourself - for their assessments by both equipping them and offering them any and all information regarding their loadout as necessary. Before we begin, did you have any queries regarding your pending assessment?
Aedon slowly removed his shirt, being careful with the area around his wound, revealing his bare torso. He still looked to be very fit, his musculature was lean and quite cut, with very little fat to speak of. Where he showed his weathering was in the scarring on his body. Despite having more than a few bacta baths in his life, there were still plenty of scars on his skin that served as a reminder of all the things he had survived. Most of those, he had received before his sixteenth birthday. Living his early life in the Coruscanti slums was a very..."educational" experience. The remainder of his years held even further "lessons", sure, but he was able to avoid the bulk of them because he learned one of the most-important ones early on - don't get caught. If he had managed to put that lesson to use when it came time to face the Syndicate, well, a very different man might have stood before this VI and her droid compatriots today.*
*Aedon stepped toward the Rampart droid holding the infiltration suit, accepting it with a nod and a word of thanks, before turning toward the nearest speaker where he heard the voice coming from.
"I'm pretty clear on the assessment itself. I guess my main 'query' would be regarding this suit and any other tools that I'm being allowed going in; what all do I have available to me?"
As Aedon removed his boots and - subsequently - his pants, he looked around for the closest medkit so he could finish bandaging and preparing his arm for the tight-fitting infiltration suit. The VI continued divulging the answer to Aedon's query while he worked.
In addition to the infiltration suit, you will have a standard slicer's kit along with a backup, two ion grenades, one thermal detonator, a Laser-Hone vibro-kata with shock variant, and your option of your current Model 434 Death Hammer blaster pistols, but there is also the option of the newest Merr Sonn modified ion pistols, which can be useful against droid opponents.
At the mention of Laser-Hone, Aedon looked down at his vibro-rapier. In this situation, the weapon would likely be more of a burden than an asset. The vibro-kata would likely serve just as well, and Aedon could practice his Verpine martial skills while wielding it. Setting the blade to the side, he looked over his wrap-job on his upper arm before taking up the "high-tech onesie" and stepping into the legs. He noticed that the whole thing was surprisingly-roomy; baggy, even. It was likely meant for a much larger being.
"Uh...anything you can tell me about this suit here? It seems like it's not fitting properly."
The disembodied voice seemed to acknowledge his voice with a "chirp"...or maybe that was it accessing the information on the suit? The displays in the ready room all suddenly lit up with different views of the suit itself.
Organization R&D Project IS-15: Infiltration Suit, fifteenth variant. Also known as-
"-'Project Isis'? Really?"
Aedon's suspicions were confirmed when the name flashed across the screen. The name - "Isis" - was either just a clever moniker, or it was a nod to the deities of Zeltros. Whereas Endymia was the goddess of light, life, fertility, and hedonism, Isis was the goddess of darkness, death, barrenness, and...hedonism. Zeltrons were big into hedonism and "feeling good". They owed it to their empathetic tendencies. If they could afford to avoid negative emotions, they would, so keeping everyone "happy" was usually the best method. Aedon wasn't one to spit in the face of millennia of culture, but he tended to march to his own beat.
Indeed. Project 'Isis' was the culmination of years of research and field testing to ensure maximum effectiveness in the field. The suit is designed with a phrik and crystalline spider-silk weave, and has a tertiary stranding of fiber optic cabling. This makes the material both blaster-resistant and able to use the Defel Mimicry feature, providing the user with near-flawless active camouflage for precisely fifteen minutes at a time. When the Mimicker is inactive, the IS-15's external observation sensors identify key elements of the local area and color-shift the pigmentation of the suit itself. This allows for a self-adjusting camouflage that is normally unachievable by conventional military uniform designs. Grouping these efficient technologies with the sound-dampening and temperature-suppressant features makes the IS-15 the de facto leader in its field. It, of course, comes with a sealing helmet with internal Heads-Up Display capabilities. These features are controlled by an internal suit VI, which also acts on both verbal and ocular cues, once the VI has had an opportunity to become accustomed to the user.
Aedon seemed to be nodding in a frustrated manner. He took in the information gladly, but the suit was still ill-fitting.
"Right, right...that's all really nifty, but uh..." He motioned to the sagging areas around his arms, and pulled on the exceedingly-loose material on his leggings "...do ya think you might have gotten the sizing wrong a bit? I can't move around effectively in this!"
There were a few beeps, acknowledging Aedon's commentary, and then a chime as the VI answered.
Of course. On either side of your hip joints, there is an activation dial. Please grasp the mechanism and apply one quarter rotation to the dial itself toward the front of your body. The suit will then--
"--HOLY!!!--"
The "activation dial" was meant to make the suit constrict upon itself to make the IS-15 a form-fitting suit. The VI didn't quite make that a point of explanation, so the suit's constriction came as quite the surprise to him. Especially when it clamped down on certain...areas. Aedon stood, awkwardly bracing himself on the lockers as his knees were nearly knocking together.
Is something the matter, Operative?
His voice was strained a little as he struggled to respond "No...no, no. All fine. Con-...continue, please!"
Very well. Has the suit acclimated to your form sufficiently, Operative Montrose?
"Oh, you're trying to be funny now, aren't you?"
Humor is not included in the span of my core programming, sir.
"...Of course it isn't. Anyway, are there any other functions that I need to be made aware of in the suit?"
Your suit is designed to be an infiltration tool, and thus, has several terrain-traversing tools at your disposal. The liquid cable-launcher located in your left forearm holds over three thousand yards of cable per disposable cartridge. Your gauntlets also have enhanced grip strength for scaling, and the boots of your suit contain a morphing carbon tread that will help you traverse steep or even vertical terrain, with assistance from the cable-launcher, itself. The IS-15 also contains a biomedical suite that can administer tolerable levels of necessary acuity and battle stimulants, as well as three applications of bacta gel that can be administered via the suit's gloves. Your HUD will be able to identify the application apparatus via the highlight function in your AR visor. Please take some time to become accustomed to your suit's Virtual Intelligence suite before initiating your tactical simulation program. It will increase your overall effectiveness and chance for success in this mission by a standard variant of ~11.34%. Do you have any other inquiries before finalizing your preparations, Operative?
Aedon had been taking stock of his other weapon options, and had finally chosen to equip one of his Death Hammer 434's and one of the Merr Sonn ion pistols, placing them in the thigh holsters on either side of his leg. There were also tactical hardpack modules that held the slicer kits and datapads necessary to complete the mission, as well as the rest of Aedon's ordnance all spread out on a nearby surgical-grade durasteel table. The great thing about the modules were that they were designed to go with the infiltration suit, so he should be able to place them anywhere that the suit had a lock point installed on the suit. Aedon placed one slicer kit on his left thigh, just in front of the holster for his Death Hammer. The other, he placed on a panel in the center of his lower back. He mag-clamped the three grenades he was allowed to carry in the cannister that settled on the backside of his right hip. The coolest thing to Aedon was the vibro-kata. It had a lock clip that could be used on any of the points on his suit as well. He chose one that was on the waistline, just below where he'd installed the backup slicer kit, horizontally along his lower back.*
*When "Azura" had addressed him again, he was just finishing up adding on all of his chosen gear. Holding the helmet to his suit in his hands, he looked down into it as though he were peering into a dark, terrifying future for himself.
"...At the end of all this...do you think I'll still be a good person?"
There was a small series of beeps, and then Azura responded.
...I'm not sure that I understand your query, Operative. Wo--
Aedon chuckled mildly.
"--It's okay, Azura. I don't think any of us understand sometimes. All 'queries' completed. Initiating final weapons check and completing VI integration tutorial. Be ready to begin the simulation in T-minus five minutes."
The VI beeped and confirmed the timer, and the droids went about their work securing the remaining weapons and cleaning the rest of the ready room. Aedon swept his long hair back into a loose ponytail around back, folding the end back in on itself so it would fit inside his helmet. Once he slid it on to create a seal, the Heads-Up Display activated, and he spent the remaining time going through the process of "getting to know" the suit. That was the suit's VI's words, not Aedon's. After fiddling with the VI's settings, Aedon had decided to give the program the moniker "Isis", allowing it to embody the persona and seductive tone of the dark goddess, herself. There was an additional security feature that Aedon was implementing, although he didn't know why he cared to. He decided to use the Zeltros language setting. At first, Aedon was a bit rusty using his native tongue. After all, he'd grown up using Basic and a guttural form of Verpine-Basic chatter. He hadn't learned most of his native tongue until his teenage years, from his first mentor...kriff, that seemed like eons ago, now.*
*After Aedon had done his part integrating with the suit and its VI, he decided to set out to the simulation's door. The countdown was just rounding out, coming down to the last 30 seconds before it would initiate. Aedon waited for the series of beeps and chimes, mentally going through his checklist of what was necessary to complete the mission. If the ultimate objective was the recovery of that data, then Aedon really and truly didn't even have to take on the droids guarding the site. He merely had to provide sufficient distraction to get to the site and initiate the download. His priority would be securing the weapon's cache on the far side of the valley. After that, he could work on his plan to secure the site.
With the final chime, Aedon stepped through the ready room's doors onto the "terrain" of Felucia. His suit's readouts were being fed the topography and climate data from the simulation's computers, but, Aedon was taking it all in from the normal, biological standpoint. The Felucian jungle spread out before him. It was nighttime in the simulation; the HUD displayed that they were about two hours from dawn, and the scenery was simply breathtaking. Most of the plants were bioluminescent, glowing in shades of bright oranges, greens, and blues. Yet, as much light as they were giving off, the darkness that filled the spaces between was nearly pitch-black. So, Aedon activated the helmet's low-light vision suite, as well as adding in a thermal readout for temperatures above a certain point in the gradient. The world around him was suddenly enhanced, and he was able to see the trail ahead of him with little to no problems. His thermal readouts were minimal; as much as the simulation was keen on making things as real as possible, smaller lifeforms simply weren't necessary in its programming, apparently. The HUD outlined the surrounding flora as it came into its view, and Aedon continued forward down the path that was marked for him. In the very far distance, he saw a fixed point with a distance marker -- the secured weapons cache, no doubt. He set the waypoint as his primary objective, and spoke into the helm in his native Zeltron tongue.
Translated "All right, Isis, give me telemetry data for the downed satellite, and lay out known patrol patterns for our opposition; adjust course to give us a wide berth from their routes. Also, adjust the suit's camouflage to match the terrain as we go, command confirm?"
"Isis" acknowledged the commands, and soon, his HUD was being lit up with markers being displayed to the left of his view. As he looked in that direction, he realized he was quite a ways from the supposed patrol routes already, and his current objective wasn't set to cross their paths at all. Glad that he wouldn't have to put too much more work into his supposed trek, he made for the waypoint at a steady jog.
He had made good time, leaving only about 45 minutes until dawn would be coming over the valley. The suit was constantly making adjustments to his changing field of view; the bioluminescence of the plants slowly fading in lieu of the sun's impending arrival made it so the area around him was even more difficult to discern with the naked eye. Luckily, the temperature control system of the suit was working perfectly. Aedon had hardly broken a sweat getting over here. As he approached the marked waypoint, Aedon began to see the hillside where the cache rested. It was a large, rectangular chest. There was foliage growing around the base, the planet already seeking to claim that which was given to it. Aedon made a mental note of the programmer's attention to detail, then went to work accessing the chest.*
*Upon opening the chest, Aedon had a smile cross his features that he was glad wasn't going to be immediately-viewable on the simulator's view-screen, thanks to his helmet. The cache held a tactical backpack with a muck kit - a short-handled spade, detonator kits, spare cable refills for his launcher, laser tripwires, everything a growing boy needed if he was staging an ambush. There were also ion mines, backup ion and blaster pistols, and some heavier weapon options that Aedon wasn't too keen on using. He did, however, tuck a single-use handheld grenade launcher into his pack. There was also one last device that he saw in the crate that he was all too happy to bring - an automated mini-rocket turret. It would be easily-programmable, if Aedon took the time to set it up right and allowed Isis to fill in the gaps where he would surely be lacking.
The trek back down the hillside was preceded by Aedon using his vantage point to observe the valley and attempt to spot his downed satellite, along with his opposition. The area surrounding the downed satellite was still a bit of a smoldering crater. Apparently, the idea of the simulation was designed to be an immediate retrieval situation. Smoke rose from the satellite, itself. Most of the area surrounding it no longer held any effects of the event, save for the evidence of impact in that of the crater that spanned every direction for about 25 meters, as well as the disheveled earth on either side of it filled with mud, rock, and the local flora. On the south side of the crater stood Aedon's largest and greatest opposition - the Ogre battle droid. It was practically a walking tank, complete with thick armor plating and the weaponry on its chassis that was meant to tear such armor apart. If Aedon was going to best it, he needed to plan carefully.*
*Looking on, he followed the HUD's outline of where the supposed patrol routes were. As it stood, he couldn't see the droids that were meant to be advancing along those routes. He did, however, notice several pairs of tracks that seemed to travel along that route. There was a clearing, not too far from the crater's edge, where Aedon noticed a singular tall Felucian tree with no major flora around it to speak of. The patrols seemed to pass right by it, according to the tracks. That was where the Zeltron operative would make his move. He packed up all of his supplies, and began making his move down toward the area that he was sure he would stage his assault. When he was within 100 meters, he stopped short, activating the suit's stealth suite and rendering himself invisible from the naked eye and most scans. The temperature control unit was still in use as well, so, Aedon was all but undetectable at this point. The HUD brought up a small timer, indicating how long the suit had left before it would drop the shroud effect. Just under fifteen minutes. Aedon would need to observe and act fast.*
*The clearing was coming up, so, Aedon began making his approach much more cautiously. His HUD hadn't picked up the patrol just yet, but, that didn't mean it wasn't due anytime soon. He was a few meters from the clearing's edge when he spotted a viable spot to set up the mini-turret. Just enough cover to keep it from being spotted directly, yet clear of any obstructions that would keep it from firing its payload. He began setting it up when his HUD reacted with a proximity warning. Coming in from Aedon's right was the first patrolling pair of Rampart droids. Aedon instinctively lowered himself below the edge of the fauna, and did his best to observe the droids in their passing. They seemed to carry blaster rifles, although Aedon couldn't discern the design just from looking. He had to assume they had decent range, though, lest he underestimated them. When he was sure the pair had exited the clearing and would be far enough away, he got back to work on setting up the turret. He deactivated the stealth feature and let the camouflage come back on for the moment, allowing the suit to recharge itself for the fight ahead. After that, the next ten minutes or so were spent using "Isis" to help him set up the turret and link it to the datapad he stored on his leg. He managed to finish the setup just in time for the next patrol to come through. Marking the time on his HUD, he realized the patrols were a mere twelve minutes apart. That was enough of a window for Aedon to set up the next stage of his ambush; and as soon as the droids had cleared out, the Zeltron went to work on doing just that.*
*His first move was using the muck kit's spade to set down one of the ion mines and prime it to activate with the use of the same datapad he had set up for the turret. That took all of five minutes, and he had to move quickly to do the same thing with another mine on the north side of the tree in the clearing, just a few meters from the edge where he was sure the second pair of droids or even the Ogre droid would be coming from. Once he had them set down and covered, he quickly made his way into the foliage on the other side of the clearing so he could wait for the patrol to slip through again. Noting the droid's walking path as he did so, they seemed to be passing within two meters of the ion mine. That was well in range of the proximity sensors, so Aedon felt confident that his plan was at least going to work for the opening phase. Once again, when the droids had cleared out, he began his next preparations. Setting up laser tripwires near the tree he was centering his attack around. These tripwires would be linked with the cannister on his hip, releasing the grenades from a perch up in the tree that he was about to ascend. He only had the next five minutes, though, before the patrol would sweep the area again. Using the cable launcher after activating his stealth module, he zipped up the side of the tree and into its branches, deftly landing on one of the larger limbs as he did so. This was where things were bound to get interesting.*
*The next patrol was sweeping through, and Aedon felt the anxiety welling inside of him as he watched the duo walking just past the tree he was using to perch in. The droids' heads were on a constant swivel, and they had looked in Aedon's direction more than once as they kept going by. Luckily, they continued on, and Aedon felt a little more confident in his suit's abilities than he had before. He still had over six minutes of stealth time, and with each drop and recharge of the suit, he would gain back another three minutes between patrols. Whatever Aedon was planning on doing, he would need to do soon. So, once the cannister was ready and programmed to drop the two ion grenades when the laser was tripped, he retrieved the lone frag grenade and made his way back down the tree. Choosing to stage himself on the south side of the clearing, Aedon settled into position about fifteen meters to the right of the mini-turret he'd set up. It wasn't far from where the droids would enter the clearing from. He realized that was a bit of a gambit, but, it also kept him from getting caught in the crossfire once the turret would be discovered.*
*Aedon's plan was simple: take out the first pair of patrol droids with the primary ion mine. When those droids were down, either the second pair or the Ogre droid would come in, and hopefully enter the clearing within range of the secondary ion mine. "Pop" it goes, taking them out. Then, if he could draw the remainder in, he would use the turret to take them out. Barring that, the turret would draw them in close enough that the laser trip would drop the grenades from above, and Aedon could easily pick off whatever remained by his lonesome. As it stood, Aedon would wait for one more rotation before he set his plan into motion, allowing his suit to continue its recharge for one more round, also.*
*The next patrol walked in the same manner as the previous ones had, and Aedon was right about their route being somewhat-close to his staged position. However, the suit's camouflage seemed to work well enough even without the stealth feature, and Aedon was able to gain precious minutes back for when the attack was sure to happen. As the droids exited the area, Aedon took a deep breath, activating his countermeasures with the push of a few buttons from his datapad. Each one of the bits of ordnance registered in the green as "Active" within seconds, so Aedon waited there in silence, his heart beginning to quicken with the thought of the battle to come. He heard the crack of branches off to his right, the rustle of foliage against droid chassis, and activated his stealth feature. Twelve and a half minutes sprang up on the timer. Anything beyond that, and Aedon was on his own. He drew the ion pistol from his thigh holster, and the single-use grenade launcher from the muck kit. He then watched the droids enter the clearing, and eased up to the edge as they walked into range of the mine.*
*As the pair walked past, a jet of air shot up from the ground, clearing the soil out from where the ion projectile was set to spring. The droids quickly turned, but were just in time to see the pellet which held the ion dispersal launch upward around a meter before exploding in a torrent of violent electric arcs for meters in every direction. Tendrils of bright white electricity shot through the droids repetitively, and their bodies quaked in a gruesome display before falling lifelessly to the ground as the mine died out. Aedon found another tree not far from him, and quickly ascended it with another shot of the cable-launcher in his left wrist. Once he had landed on a branch there, he looked in the direction of the crater, barely able to make out the Ogre droid seeming to go on alert, yet remaining at the crash site. He used the suit's magnification feature to get a closer look, and saw two much smaller shapes crossing the field and looking to be heading in his direction. It was all well and good, he thought. They would fall victim to his next traps.*
*The pair of droids seemed to burst forth from the edge of the clearing with malicious intent, their blaster rifles sweeping the area as their heads turned back and forth, attempting to find the assailants responsible for taking down their two comrades. Their approach was hazardously-close to the second mine, though, and Aedon's luck seemed to hold out as they triggered the second explosion, rendering them both inert as well. Now would come the true test - what would the Ogre droid do? Aedon watched from his perch, observing the hulking tank from a distance as it seemed to pause for a moment. Then, raising its weaponized arms into attack position, it began its slow advance toward the foliage between the crater and Aedon's trap-filled clearing. Aedon took the few moments between the droid's advance and arrival to activate the mini-turret via his datapad, setting it to scan the area that Aedon assumed it would be entering from. He deactivated his stealth so it could recharge while he was getting it ready, hoping to add precious moments to his timer so he could complete his mission in the safest way possible. In that span of time, he could begin to feel the ground quake beneath him, the trees seeming to vibrate as the massive behemoth heavily trekked through the jungle towards its supposed prey.*
*It broke through the edge of the clearing just as Aedon's turret had fully activated, and the datapad had registered the target, but, couldn't seem to manage a lock on it. It was then that Aedon realized - the droid had an energy shield.
"Fierfek!"
Aedon adjusted to manual controls, but intended to watch from his tree as the tank droid seemed to scan the area for him. He heard the gears and servos grinding and whirring as the droid's torso turned on its axis, the legs still walking it forward as it drew closer to the tree. The tree! Aedon paid attention to its advance, and how it was drawing ever-closer to the laser tripwire. He readied the turret in case it failed to make its way over, but the droid showed no signs of altering its course so far. It was mere meters away now, and drew closer with each gargantuan stride it made. And with its latest step, it managed it. The front tip of its right leg planted down just into the path of the trigger, and the cannister in the tree popped open, dropping the two ion grenades right at the feet of the Ogre droid. Both of the charges went off, and the hemispheres of ionic energy danced about, sending arcs of electricity to and fro. Aedon watched the droid's shielding flicker and falter, and the droid itself even took some damage from the grenades. It now stumbled and staggered in several directions, its arms flailing as its droid optic "eye" darted back and forth. With the shield down, Aedon allowed the targeting system for the turret to reactivate, and it was able to quickly acquire a target lock thereafter. Aedon depressed the button for it to take action, and it quickly launched one, then a second rocket from its berth. The droid couldn't seem to counter it quickly enough. It fired its arm-mounted Gatling-cannon wildly, yet was unable to hit either rocket as they found their mark. Aedon cheered to himself as the payload exploded, sending showers of fire and shrapnel in every direction. Clouds of smoke erupted outward, obscuring the droid somewhat as Aedon was unable to see much beyond a flash of white here or a shadow there, the machine obviously reeling from the unexpected attack. Aedon readied the last of the turret's ordnance, watching from its viewfinder as it tried to gain another target lock. The smoke and dust began to settle, and Aedon saw the ragged hunk of armor staggering to find its footing. It was still affected by the pairing of attacks, and Aedon was certain that would be just about the end of it.*
*The turret managed another definite lock. Aedon decided it was time to put the machine out of its misery. He fired the first rocket, driving it home right in the optic port of the massive droid. The explosion was grand, and Aedon watched the flurry of white armor pieces flying everywhere as the droid fell backward out of the smoke to unceremoniously slam into the ground. And with one more rocket, the Ogre droid was no more.
Aedon descended from the tree, making his way over to the downed tank. It was a smoldering heap of fire and metal now, and he was suddenly quite glad that he didn't have to face the beast outright. He doubted he would have survived such a fight, much less won it. Regardless, that was all of the supposed opposition that he was meant to face in this scenario. So, with that done, he made his way toward the crater. He still remained vigilant. With all of the droids down, he wouldn't put it past Miranda to have "reinforcements" suddenly appear in the scenario. As the crater came into view, Aedon was quick to maneuver himself down to the satellite. He used "Isis" to scan the device, finding its nearest access point where he could begin the work of retrieving the data. Within moments, he was accessing it, and hooked it up to the datapad from his back to complete his mission.*
*Sensing that this was the end of the scenario, the simulation began to power itself down. Aedon breathed a sigh of relief. This had been a tumultuous few hours, and he was ready to see what Operative Strahovski had to say about his work he had done here.
**Enemies remaining: Zero. Objective: Accomplished. Assessment Complete.**

Simulator S-12: Testing Interval: Aedon Montrose. The A.I, Azure and Operative Strahovski were still going over the latest results from Aedon Montrose's most recent test. Since a time limit hadn't been a factor in this simulation, the length in which it had taken Montrose to complete the assessment was irrelevant. No, the scoring came down to the more detailed analysis of how he performed. Ranking his stealth, technique and gear utilized affected his final grading. Though at this point, Montrose had blown initial expectations out of the water and then some. His initial test had shown a keen tactical mind, resourcefulness as well as a tenacity that was nearly unrivaled. With that in mind, Strahovski had been eager to see just how well Aedon performed in the second assessment. She had expected a professional level of proficiency, but he had taken that to an entirely new level. As Azure complied his results and forwarded a copy to The Illusionist, Miranda turned to greet the Zeltron as he arrived back up on the Observation Deck."Your assessment was exemplary, Mr. Montrose. Despite your rough exterior and relaxed personality, you've shown several impressive characteristics that we were looking for. Your candidacy for The Organization is all but guaranteed. And, if The Illusionist's flagship project is to move forward, adding your skills and expertise will be greatly beneficial. But, there will be time to discuss that later. For now, it is getting late and, after completing two assessments in the same day, surely you must be exhausted. We've taken the liberty to assign you temporary quarters within Refuge. Your quarters are located in Zakera Ward." Handing the Zeltron a datapad with a small holo-projector attached, Miranda continued. "Azure has been assigned to you and therefore can guide you though the Nexus. Go, rest and heal up. You've certainly earned a break. Normally we'd continue your assessment, but a recommendation from myself to The Illusionist has granted you a twelve-hour reprieve. And since you've already displayed resilience and tenacity in your back to back assessments, both myself and The Illusionist want to see you at peak abilities for your final assessment. Any questions?"Protocol was normally something that was strictly adhered to, within The Organization. But there were exceptions to the rules. Aedon's assessment being one of them. And, given what his third and final assessment was going to be, being fresh and rested was preferable to a worn and weary participant. Though, if he had any questions before he decided to take his leave, Miranda would happily answer them. He had definitely earned some answers.

It wasn't as though Aedon didn't like what he was hearing; every joint in his body was screaming at him from the impact of the several hours he had ran, dodged, climbed, shot (and having been shot at, with success). Twelve hours to unwind and gain his bearings would be a welcome reprieve, honestly. He just didn't want to lose any momentum, honestly. So, if this place had a certain spot he could go to relax and keep his edge that he currently held, he'd go for that.Nodding to Strahovski, he shook out his helmet-matted hair and gave a bit of a grin as it wildly flew across his face. Sweeping his bangs back over his head, he shrugged.
"Heh...if you've got some sort of rejuvenation center, I'll take some downtime to bring myself back up to one-hundred. Grab a drink, maybe take a nap...who knows?" He paused for a moment "Actually, y'know what? Scratch the drink. I'll save that for the Victory Dance. Azura?"
Yes, Operative?
"If you wouldn't mind setting me up with a route towards that facility, I'd be...ecstatic, beyond words."
Of course, Operative Montrose. Please, follow the indicator lights in the hallways adjacent.
Aedon looked back to Miranda.
"If you have anything relevant regarding my final assessment that I might need to know, could you forward it to me?" He offered a little wave as he made his way toward the door, still sporting the IS-15 Infiltration Suit. "I'll give it some thought while I'm recuperating."
He paused just shy of the doors, turning toward Strahovski as they slid open, as if waiting for her go-ahead to leave...

Simulator S-12: Pre-Assessment Briefing: Aedon Montrose.Once again standing in the control and observation room above the Simulator proper, Operative Miranda Strahovski was busy speaking with another operative trainee fully armored in a white and black suit of armor with red-hued eye slits that seemed to glow. Attached to the operative's back was a simple long blade. "Gizmo", the green-skinned Twi'lek was also present, seated in his usual spot at the center of the control room in his workstation. Two more members were present too. One being the dark-skinned, black coat clad man known simply as the "Director". Acting as the direct overseer to all ongoing projects, assignments and assessments, the "Director" reported directly to The Illusionist, and acted as the go between for the operatives and The Illusionist. The final member present, a candidate prototype from the Ascension Program, the pale-skinned, silver-haired man known as Martin Harper. The geometric glowing blue implants on Harper's face pulsed steadily, though he was merely gazing out to the white sim room ahead, uninterested in anything that was transpiring in the room around him. All in all, this was quite this gathering, for a simple initial assessment. But it was one of the few times that lethal force was authorized. That tended to draw a crowd. Nodding to the armored operative trainee, Miranda spoke."Operative Selkirk, you're objective is clear. Proceed to Ready Room one and await further instructions."The operative merely nodded and moved to the turbolift on the left side of the room, the one Aedon himself had used previously during his prior two assessments. At the operative disappeared, Miranda spoke to the Director."You are certain this is how you want to proceed? Either way, we're sacrificing a potential operative's life with this assessment."The Director held up a hand to silence her and chuckled. His silvery voice rang out."Please, Miranda. Stop acting as if you care about these people. Until they have officially been recruited, they are merely numbers. Do you not remember how you were recruited? Do you even know the amount of trial and error that went into that endeavor? You may be The Illusionist's top lieutenant, but do not assume you know what's best for our trainees. We cannot protect them from the horrors of the galaxy once they venture beyond these walls. Utilizing more aggressive measures in our training regiments will allow us to better prepare the...next generation of operatives and soldiers. Besides, The Illusionist was quite clear. He wanted a field test of our current methods against someone who was experienced by outside influences rather than our own. Rather than letting our trainees loose on the galaxy, we can at the very least, contain the damage here, should things get out of hand...and Mr. Harper is here to ensure that if the situation get out of hand, it is dealt with quickly and effectively."Rather than continue to argue with a superior, Miranda huffed a sigh, and strode over to where Gizmo sat. Once Aedon arrived, they could begin.
