Romulus nodded, affirming Angel's command. He beckoned Serina to follow, and they walked off towards the Medbay.

Splitting from Coruscus who went right and Decstalix who went left, Tempest walked into a small class of ten, consisting of impatient juniors, eager to test their mettle.
I am Lord Tempest. I will be taking over Lord Mentis' Force Tactics class for today, till he returns from an external mission.
The students' grumbling turned to gleeful anticipation, thinking they could capitalise on this and take advantage of makeshift tutorials. Except Tempest was several steps ahead of them.
Your lesson today is on elusiveness. Computer, input Magnetic Scenario 6-2-1-7. Metal everywhere.
The room buzzed and whirred around them as it transformed into a capacious cavern with metal ceilings, floors, and walls, with several metallic pillars and barricades spaced out throughout the room. He walked right into the middle of the room, and sat down.
Your goal is to hit me. If you can. Timer, begin!
The first cocky oveconfident student, an overbearing brute, charged outright, not waiting for anyone else. Tempest simply sidestepped, and used the iron in his blood to immobilise him to the wall.
He's done!
This student had been studying Kinetite. He launched a bolt at Tempest, who simply raised a metallic barrier from the metal ground to absorb the impact. He concentrated it into a beam and channeled it towards Tempest again, who repelled it by deflecting it away with another barrier. Tempest then Force-pushed that barrier towards the second student, who somersaulted out of the way. Smugly thinking he had defeated an unguarded Tempest, he prepared to shoot again... right up till the barrier turned around and smacked him, dragging him right to the wall and morphing into arm restraints.
A third student, who had maneuvered to a flank movement, launched a stream of Force Lightning at Tempest's back, whereupon he raised yet another barrier to redirect it into the ground, sending it right back to him, stunning him. Tempest then localised the lightning into an electromagnetic storm, carbonising the air around him and imprisoning him within a sheath of rock-hard electrocarbon atoms. A fourth student made the idiotic maneuver of announcing his charge by yelling at Tempest, who simply Force jumped and allowed him to slam right into the metal barricade, morphing it right into a snare that immobilised the fourth student as well.
Three more students simultaneously attacked this time. Sending a burst of invisible magnetic energy towards them, he separated their charge, knocking the middle student down and the other two towards their respective sides. From the ground, he raised more ensnaring coils that wrapped around the student and sent the new package hurtling towards the wall, pinning him there right next to the first student.
The remaining two students recovered and sent a combined surge of the Force towards Tempest, who simply backflipped above the wave to hit the other two students that tried to pincer-flank him again. He descended back down in a dignified Force-glide as he magnetised the latter two to the wall, and without missing a beat, a simple flick of his wrist ripped the first hulking brute of a student from his restraints, and sent him slamming right into the former two students, repinning them together again on the far side of the wall.
That's not going to work on me!
This student had been studying the rare art of phasing. He had phased straight up from the floor in front of Tempest.
It doesn't have to. And I suggest you hold on to this.
Tempest floated above the ground and presented the final student with a metal square as the entire ground beneath the student fragmented into tiles and broke away into nothingness. The student yelped as he leapt while the ground gave way beneath him, clinging to the metal tile to avoid dropping into the void below.
This all took place within the span of several minutes. When Tempest realised that the sparring session had only lasted this short duration, he promptly hovered out of the arena.
Class dismissed. Come find me again when you've all learnt how to tactically use your Force powers collaboratively, adaptively, and with tactility.
Seconds later, all the immobilisation traps holding the ten students in place dropped, and the room returned back to default.

Iridonia - Sith Academy Training Grounds - Two weeks since the First Order occupation of the Academy
Vasari's movements were more fluid now - the rhythm in which she performed her daily drills having well since fallen into a routine. The last two weeks had passed as expected. most of the surviving students had either long left, or remained in their quarters. A few of the more rebellious ones had been either executed or now resided in the dungeons instead. Vasari refused to allow the new 'Sith'ari's' occupation of the Academy to interfere with her studies more than it had already. And yet even with the Academy library cleared and supposedly reopened a guard had been placed on the doorway and only those students of the instructors that had supported the invasion were given access - which left her out of the loop, needless to say.
Her part in the would be defense of the Academy had either been forgotten or gone overlooked, and yet she kept to herself, not yet daring to be seen as a 'joiner' by requesting to join one of the classes which would allow her into the library. It had also gone overlooked that none of her instructors remained and so she had no classes to attend. No teachers to guide her, and no one to speak on her behalf with the Guard placed upon the library - no doubt the order of the New Headmaster, he or she also had been absent. Word had been passed that one had been assigned or rather... placed, by the new Sith'ari, and yet no sign of their presence had been given, just the effects of the regime change noticeable in the change of procedure and the day to day minutia of Academy life. Vasari finished her daily warm up and set her Zhaboka to rest leaning against a nearby wall as she removed her robe and draped it against a bench nearby. She stretched under the gaze of the midmorning sun - now garbed only in black compression shorts and a wrap of black material that made her breasts appear far smaller than they were. It was not her aim to pass a man - if so she would never have revealed herself so - yet under the weight of her robe and her outer cloak she could pass as one. like some of her clan she was tattooed from head to foot in intricate red and black patterns and ever since she had received them on the eve of her 23rd year she had enjoyed showing them off, not a source of vanity within her - more like pride, she was proud of who she was, and where she had come from. Proud to be the only remaining member of the Nightshade Clan. Perhaps that is what kept her out of her dorm... kept her from shrinking under the oppressive gaze of the new first order soldiers that had been garrisoned here - her pride.

Vasari's hips continued to sway as she walked into the Training Area on the outskirts of the Academy's grounds. Having the close proximity to his mind she was well aware that her tactics were having little effect, but that wasn't the point of implementing them. Any assumption he made, any thought he had that was off the point or separate from the truth kept his mind one step behind. She didn't need to intimidate him and she did not need to seduce him - both were far from her mind, but as long as Xakire looked upon her like a common temptress he wouldn't be looking for what she was really capable of. She was well aware her own skills with a lightsaber would not allow her to hold ground against a skilled combatant with practice and experience - her battles during the invasion had proved that to her - hence why she needed the practice. She knew that her greatest weapon in any fight she would get into would be her mind, and her practical use of Sorcery in combat. And for that to be as effective as possible, she had to train against the best, and while waiting for whoever that was to present themselves - Xakire would have to do.
"Oh very well... Thank you dear sir for your kind compliment!"
She smiled a forced but otherwise pretty smile as she half curtseyed - an act that looked about as ridiculous as she intended it to in her current attire - but it was comfortable, form fitting, and would serve her combat style well - to many times had she scorched her own combat cloaks because of their bulkiness on her body as she attempted to perfect the circle of swords technique within her chosen style of Form III. Her smile left her face as she walked over to the training saber collection and picked up a saberstaff before walking into the sparing circle. Leaning forward she planted her foot just at the edge of the circle and leaned forward until her entire upper body was across the line - but her footing stayed behind. Balancing like that for a moment she exhaled closing her eyes and sinking lower into the force and then flipped feet over head once - performing a perfectly graceful handless front flip and landing within the sparing circle. She didn't stop there however and leaned into another diving leap which ended in a tuck and roll and spring to her feet connected to a back flip that brought her heels over her head in an acrobatic flurry of her limbs before she landed on her feet - sticking the landing perfectly before slipping effortlessly into a split - her naked tattooed legs spreading easily to either side of her body with her skirt pooling around her to protect her modesty. Setting the training saber on the ground she leaned forward and began to stretch - the entire affair having a ritualistic and obviously practiced routine - not intended to be a showing off of skills at all but not once did she use the force to aide in the execution of those abilities.
"Choose your weapons Xakire... and attack when you are ready."
She remained in her split stance, her toes pointed, her body leaning forward flush against the ground her forehead upon the sandy stone ground - the saberstaff unlit beneath her body and gave no indication of moving until Xakire made her - the only sound she made after was the calm steady breathing that came from her nose and lifted her off the ground only slightly as her chest expanded to hold more and more air - prepping her body as well as her mind for the fight to come.

Xakire rolled his eyes at Vasari responded with a curtesy and sarcastic response. He wondered what exactly he had expected from her anyway.
While she seemed to be powerful in the Force, Xakire suspected that in combat he would have the upper hand. He watched as Vasari launched herself into an elaborate display of acrobatics before settling down to stretch. She clearly had practiced this, and however impressive it may have been, Xakire doubted that such acrobatics would do well in combat against him. His own style was very much based around his agility and speed as opposed to brute strength.
Deciding not to reveal his real lightsabres, Xakire picked up a training sabre, swung it around a bit to get the feel for its weight and then he reached down and picked up a second in his other hand. Without warning, as soon as he had the second one in his hand, he summoned the Force and leaped towards Vasari, igniting the sabres mid air just before he brought them downwards where Vasari was sitting...

The moment Xakire's feet left the ground Vasari was on the move spinning her legs in a chopper motion to build momentum and by the time the other acolyte had reached the zenith of his leap Vasari had anticipated his chosen course and had already set her movement to avoid the blades by just enough so they slammed into the ground only inches from her body close enough to feel even the marginal heat from the training blades. Her own staff still unlit but the hilt firmly held within her grasp she pushed herself back aided in part by the force - but the blades at the moment were not her primary concern.
Vasari's mind slipped deeper into the force - the first current giving her the read on Xakire's movements, the Second giving her the power to evade them, and the Third giving her the foresight to predict what was going to happen next. The living force surrounded her movements - aiding in the natural skill of movement and acrobatics she had trained into her body since a young age. She skipped back a half a step - her body movements lithe and graceful but her attitude seemed to have changed completely, her eyes now narrowed upon her opponent - her mind now a sharp instrument buried deep within Xakire's mental defenses. However she did not press this advantage - waiting with her unlit saber for Xakire's next move.

Xakire landed firmly on his feet, maintaining balance and awaiting a counterattack from his opponent. Realising that Vasari wasn't going to attack yet, Xakire summoned the Force around him to aid his movements and allow him some precognition. He quickly dashed towards his opponent and launched a flurry of quick attacks with his dual sabres, hopeing to catch her off guard and overwhelm her. While it may have appeared to just be many random attacks, Xakire used the Force to allow his perception of time to slow down, allowing him to carefully target specific points on his opponent in the lightning fast flurry of attacks. He attempted to strike the head, forearm, shin, thigh and other points intended to cripple his opponent. The speed at which he fought was intended to quickly overwhelm his opponent, where he hoped that eventually Vasari wouldn't be able to keep up or defend both blades...

Vasari's head moved out of the way of the incoming blade with only a spare inch - the movement just barely saving her? or perhaps she only moved just the necessary amount to avoid harm. Her movements were fully under her control and when the next strike came a hair of a second later she prepared by taking a step inside the arc of the blade and striking out at Xakire's arm with an open palmed strike to his wrist disrupting the strike just enough to keep it from making contact, but instead of pressing an attack to his open body she stepped forward - her own speed nearly rivaling his as she turned her back to his body nearly pressing flush against his chest her butt against his hips, the movement only took a fraction of a second and as the last two strikes were coming down she angling towards her legs, well inside his defenses now she threw her hips backwards in attempt to knock him off balance before leaping into the air and above him. Everything she did without even igniting her blade - a feat she had hoped would only serve to anger her opponent, set him off balance in his mind as well his body. She landed behind him several paces and waited for him to turn to continue his assault - normally she would taunt her sparing opponents in the ring, but something about Xakire set her more on the defensive than normal, which was next to impossible for the Lady of Soresu - or so she had been teasingly named by the other acolytes in training.

Vasari was quicker than Xakire had hoped for and managed to skilfully evade most of his attacks, however for some reason she still refused to even ignite her sabrestaff let alone use it. She was up to something. Once he found her inside his own guard, he began to worry and knew he needed to get distance from her. Fortunetly, she still seemed unwilling to attack, save her bizarre hip attack, if it could be referred to as such. Vasari was being frustrating and annoying, but Xakire knew that if he became to angry and lost control, he would be at a disadvantage. Instead, he channeled his emotions into a Force Scream. It was not particularly powerful, but still packed quite a punch.

Vasari had expected some sort of lashing out through the force - and she was not at all disappointed. A blunt display of power was expected, and she was not entirely unprepared for it. The kinetic energy released by the scream broke upon her defenses and for a moment she considered breaking through but she allowed the force to carry her back. Wrapping the Force around her like a protective cocoon she flew back towards the edge of the training circle, stopping herself before he forced her outside of the circle. Her head spun from the blast and her vision blurred as she oriented herself and her senses but she was otherwise unharmed. She slipped in closer - her mind melding with his one piece at a time. She was far from ready for what she really had planned and she could not allow him the moment - the lull in the fight to focus himself, she needed him focused on breaking her defenses and nothing else.
"Is this all you can conjure... Xakire?"
Spinning the saberstaff in hand, moving back towards the center of the ring, she activated the twin blades bringing the staff up at eye level in a single hand a modified version of a Soresu salute, her eyes locked on her opponent, the smile on her lips not necessarily taunting - she was enjoying herself.

Xakire was glad to have some breathing room for a brief moment but it was short lived. Vasari was soon close to him again, in the centre of the ring, though curiously she still didn't attack despite finally igniting her sabre.
"Not at all....I have plenty more up me sleeve...but you'll have to come and get it..."
There must have been some reason Vasari refused to attack, and given her use of Soresu, she clearly favoured the defense so Xakire concluded that for one reason or another, she was either hoping he would tire himself or she had something else planed, or perhaps something in between. Either way, he decided to wait and see how she would react as he tried to goad her into attacking.

Xakire's lack of offense gave her exactly what she needed the timing to set herself up - plan her attack. Time slowed around her as the third current of the force wrapped around Xakire giving her perfect clarity on his movements even before they happened. The feeling was strange to her, being the first time she had sank this far into the Force to allow her precognition to take full control of her defenses. Swirling her saberstaff in one hand she took a step forward and raised her other hand towards Xakire letting out a torrent of blue lightning from her finger tips. feeling that he would raise one blade to absorb the lightning she moved towards the other striking out with her saberstaff one handed - a weak attack - meant more than anything to provoke a response - but aimed for her opponents throat.

With Vasari finally attacking by shooting a torrent of Force Lightning at Xakire, he raised his offhand sabre to block the lightning. Simultaneously, Vasari made a relativly weak strike with her sabrestaff towards Xakire's throat which he countered by using his main hand sabre to strike her own sabre with all the strength he could, amplified to an extent by the Force. This move was intended to not only block his opponents weak attack but stagger her. Weather or not his counter succeeded, Xakire knew he needed to strike before Vasari could get any more attacks off. He then threw his offhand sabre which by now had absorbed the lightning, however he fully expected Vasari to dodge the throw - it was a feint. His real attack came in the form of Xakire using Force Speed to charge at his opponent, stabbing and slashing towards her with his main hand sabre...

Vasari's eyes did not even have to follow the motion of the sabers moving between the two combatants, her mind was given over fully to the living force and she felt the movements her own body was making as they happened, not as she willed them to happen. When she held back the majority of her strength from the attack she also was rather unaffected by the ferocity of the block - employing the grace of movement taught by the disciples of Soresu she was able to take the savage and blunt block in stride and gave way under its strength. Paired with a quick step to the side she was able to remain on balance and out of the path of the rapidly descending saber. The next strike came from the off hand - predictable even for an beginner in combat, but the foresight granted to her by the living force allowed her to take advantage of the feinting attack. Moving her saberstaff to block the attack she maintained contact only long enough to stop only half of the forward momentum of the strike, then she spun the saberstaff hilt backwards over her palm - dancing around the deadly arc of both blades intending to send his own blade into his body.
Her plan would only be partially successful as time seemed to speed up for her - Xakire was rushing towards her now, moving at full speed to her mind he was catching up moving faster now than her precognition could account for - taking full control she proceeded her spiraling block with the wall of swords technique bringing her other hand to the hilt and spinning the blade thrice in hand batting away the rapid blows to her body while moving backwards with each strike allowing him to push her - allowing him to feel the advantage of the fight for the first time - wondering if he could keep up this speed indefinitely or if he would be forced to slow his actions to better control them.
A deep throbbing from within Xakire's mind would be the first noticeable presence that Vasari remained well within his Mental defenses. the throbbing would grow stronger and stronger as Vasari's grasp upon his mind allowed her to influence the current of the force connecting him to the abilities he manifested. The Malacia would come in the form of the constriction of blood flow to his brain tightening the blood vessels themselves to the point where they had to work over time - as a result the ache, which would only grow stronger the longer she was allowed to maintain the hold over him - but this was only her first trick, a feint to hide her real purpose - that voice one might call a conscience speaking to ones mind in times of distress or panic would echo within his ears "Break her focus - Fight Harder!" She urged him to fight on through the use of his own mind under the guise of his own consciousness. If he could not match her mastery of the force the only way to break the effect of the spell would be to force her mind to protect her own body, instead of assaulting his.

Suddenly, Xakire's momentum slowed and wavered as he was overcome by a painful headache. The sudden emergence and nature of it left little doubt in Xakire's mind. Vasari must be doing something. He knew he had to step up his game, to fight harder and break her focus.
He pushed through the pain as best he could, using it and his anger to fuel his next attacks. Xakire struck with both his sabres, one aiming for his head while the other aimed lower at and angle he hoped would be impossible for Vasari to defend both strike with her sabrestaffs two blades. He then engaged another lightning fast flurry and barrage of quick, agile and precise strikes, leaving not time for his opponent to follow up and counter. He had to overwhelm him. The longer the fight went on, the bigger advantage Vasari would have.

Vasari had to focus more and more to keep up with Xakire as he strengthened his attack, the twin blades moving with precision, strength, and ever increasing speed. Vasari had never fought against someone so fast before the strain upon her mind had pulled her from the third current of the force and she quickly lost the ease the precognition granted her movements which aided to her defense. Now only the mastery she had been working towards attaining in the most defensive of the lightsaber forms kept her in the fight. The shield of blades she had erected from the principles of Soresu kept the training sabers from finding purchase against her tattooed skin. Her adrenaline spiked and she was working off pure instinct now, batting away each strike as it came her movements never extending more than what was necessary, never dreaming of mounting any sort of physical offense. The offense came within his own mind, the seeds of deception she had placed within his mind, the abilities she had used up until now a weak display of a primitive understanding of sorcery, a little lightning and a trick of blood flow manipulation to induce pain - the real trick was the one she was about to attempt, only once before had she been able to invoke the Qazoi Kyantuska mid combat, and it was done completely by accident. In the dungeons below the academy she had learned to hide her presence within the force, and had begun the basics of energy manipulation, and since she had learned the tricks behind the manipulation of the body through Malacia, but her most powerful tool was the understanding of the methods of mind control through the Qazoi Kyantuska that went far beyond simply mind tricks the jedi employed to avoid confrontation. This form of mind control was successful on even the strongest of minds if the one using it was the stronger. Vasari's mind had spent the last half hour burrowing into Xakire's defenses for this moment, she wrapped tightly around Xakire's thoughts suppressing his own will with hers and the command was issued as a shout over the buzz of clashing sabers, a command that carried with it all the weight of Vasari's considerable mental fortitude.

"NO!" Xakire grunted in defiance, but it was muted. His movement slowed as he was now not only fighting Vasari but his own mind. She'd done something to him. He had to resist and tried but his attacks continued to slow before he dropped one of his sabres, he was loosing this battle in his own mind. He let out a loud yell, another scream amplified by the Force only this one was more powerful and involuntary. He went for one last strike with his remaining sabre, a strike with all his strength behind it and what power he could still draw from the Force, but before he could try and desperately strike again, he found that he had dropped his last sabre.
Now, without a physical weapon, Xakire knew he had to get away from Vasari's sabrestaff so he concentrated the Force around him and pushed it outwards causing a powerful telekinetic explosion towards Vasari. A Force Repulse. He combined this with yet another Force Scream and then launched into a backflip, using the Force to allow him to jump further. He had to get away from her.
"Yet. Out. Of. My. Head." He said slowly and with clear anger in his voice. It was unclear, even to Xakire himself if he said it quietly because he chose not to or could not speak any louder.

The level of defiance Xakire showed startled her and the her shield wall slipped for a moment - rewarding her with a stinging feeling to her arm - a graze nothing more but it would have been far more crippling had the sabers been real. Her plan had worked none the less and Xakire dropped one of his sabers. Stepping along the side of his now exposed body she leaned slightly and tagged the saber with the edge of her blade deactivating it for the remainder of the fight while bringing the other blade of her staff around to block the impending strike coming at her...
The scream shook her slightly and she stumbled a bit while managing to block the next attack, then a third came more powerful the others and the angle was all wrong for any sort of deflection - she was off balance because of the scream and it became a matter of matching her strength against his or taking the hit. Stealing herself she raised her blade for the block - the power of the blow forcing her to her knees under the weight of the attack, should he have pressed it would have been over, but just as her knee hit the ground sending a jarring pain through her entire body he dropped saber. With a gasp of relief she quickly struck out at the blade tagging it with the edge of her sparring staff as well - deactivating that blade as well.
Had her mind been on the battle she would have simply reached out and tagged his chest to end the dual but her focus had been solely upon removing his weapons from the fight, weakening him - not killing him - that was never her first choice and it had burned her before. Her breath came labored as she looked back towards Xakire finally coming to the mind to end the fight but before she could tag her opponent with the saber he released a powerful build up of kinetic energy drawn from the second current of the force - the power exploded outward his body serving as a conduit to allow the powerful and unruly second current to burst outward from him pushing her back and tearing at her skin and clothing. A grunt of pain escaped her lips as she knelt against the current being pushed back against the stone ground of the training circle tearing at her knees and the hand that she was using to steady herself. The singular shoulder pad on her guard arm came lose with the blast and went flying across the training yard leaving only the tattered black wrap that covered her chest and her skirt now in tatters. Had she been wearing a robe it would have been shredded just as quickly but in place of that protection her skin was now raw and tender - having born the brunt of the kinetic attack and more than that she felt a pain in her chest indicating at least one broken rib, probably more.
Gritting her teeth she stood to her feet finding that Xakire had fled across the field. Do to the sheer power that had exploded from him her mind had lost the hold it had upon him - though it would take a moment longer for the Malacia to clear up - the suppression of his own will would be released immediately. Sheathing her saber she grunted - standing to her feet and unleashed a fury of lightning upon her opponent from both hands - the arching white tendrils of agony and pain accompanied by a push that should have been powerful enough to knock him from the ring...

At the apex of the duel, Xakire was finally knocked out of the ring following a torrent of lightning combined with a Force Push. He was knocked to his knee, where he remained for a moment as he rested and reflected, breathing heavily. He wasn't as upset at his own defeat as he had expected. He wasn't going all out, he wasn't trying to kill her. He was trying to assess her, and that had succeeded perfectly. The being said, he wondered if he would have won anyway even if he was going all out. Vasari had fought incredibly well, her powers were more powerful than he imagined.
Finally, he stood again and walked towards Vasari and offered her a hand up, smiling.
"Vasari? Do you know who I really am?" he asked, wondering if she had discovered his true stature through her probing of his mind, if she had worked out her was more than an acolyte, or if she was still in the dark.

The amount of power she had drawn from the second current of the force unbalanced her, she hadn't prepared herself for the tax it would take on her body and the moment she noticed Xakire leave the ring - by academy rules marking her the victor she collapsed upon the ground her bloodied knees taking the brunt of the fall as her hearts raced one another into her throat. She lifted her head to see him already recovered moving towards her and even reaching out a hand to help her to her feet. His stamina was intense - sure he was breathing a little heavy, but he looked as though he was completely unaffected by the battle. A slight look of irritation crossed her eyes but it vanished the moment he spoke. She took a moment - as she took his hand and fumbled her way to her feet - to assess her situation and her options. She knew more than he was giving on that was certain, but there were gaps in what she was able to glean from his mind - he wasn't sure who he was.
"I know you're no student here... I know you probably could have killed me if you wished, perhaps even without drawing those blades you've attempted to keep hidden under your armor."
She moved to brush off her skirt - cringing slightly as her skin was still quite raw from the repulse she had born most of the brunt of. She knew now why the older students wore armorweave cloth even under their cloaks when they fought one another - something she was never really able to afford herself. She smiled softly giving him a soft but amused smile.
"Considering you're here now, months following the BlackGuard take over of Iridonia... One could make the assumption you are associated with them in some way."
