The general mess hall of the base is a massive building set near the center of the base. Occupying one side of the central courtyard it is a rectangular building with both ends jutting forward somewhat to form a square C-shape it cradles a part of the courtyard that contains a kind of outside eating area. The building itself is a combination of recreation room, cantina and dining hall and is generally a busy place no matter what time. Games of chance, holovid screen and other amusements can be found here alongside the usual eating and drinking necessities.

**Zero walked in and sat down. He made sure he sat in the center of the room, so his tactical black Beskar'gam would easily be visible to any who entered. The Spec Ops officer sat down silently and breathed deeply as he focused his mind and body for the meeting to come.**

Myrina strode into the bar where she was due to meet Zero. She was late. She hated being late but the perils of commanding a unit often included being called into meetings and conferences that she had little interest in. She stopped in the doorway and glanced around. She saw him sat by himself, patiently waiting for her. Rina inhaled deeply and made her way to his table. She looked over to the bar and raised two fingers high then pointed to the table. She ignored the nod of the barman and sat, unclipping her grey and gold helmet. She pulled it from her head with a smile as she sat it down on the table between them.
"So, you’re Zero then."
It was more of a statement than a question. She tucked the wild strands of dark hair behind her ears and sat back. Rina eyed him up and down, getting some sort of measure on him but he was closed off and secretive; perfect for the missions he had been previously assigned.
"I’ve heard worse call signs. So, you wanted in on this unit I hear?"
Rina nodded her thanks as the barman brought over two large glasses of ale. She took a sip and awaited her answer. It was rare that new men joined her unit. She commanded a small but tightknit group, predominantly handpicked and Zero was one of the very few that were ever assigned. She made it her business to find out who and why but in Zero’s case, information was very, very hard to come by.

**Zero ooked up at her. It had been so many years, and the time had done nothing to lessen the emotions of this reunion. Seeing her face was seeing that disance fading image that always loomed in one's memories. A memory that one struggled to hold onto, but fear took over that as the image faded you might lose it or warp it forever. Deeply inhaling he let out a tear in the joy at knowing that after all this time, his memory had served well and she was still the same sister he had always remembered. He just wished it could be mutual, but not yet. Their safety depended upon her being in the dark for now. He took a second to fight back the emotions welling within him before responding.**
Yes ma'am. I am Zero.
**He chuckled slightly at her remark before quickly quipping back**
Well now thats because once someone is in my crosshairs, there is zero chance that they make it out alive.
**Nodding at the vod who brought the drinks over, Zero returned the gaze behind the buy'ce to the unit commander and the second part of her question.**
Yes ma'am I have years of training and experience in field and spec ops. I have been in other units out and about on a number of missions and word has it that you're setting up for something, but no one knows what. I'm always up for challenge ma'am and it sounds like your unit has a challenge ahead of them. I live to serve the empire in any way.
**He reached forward and raised the glass in a cheer and then set it back down in front of him.**

She listened intently to him. His words didn’t convince her entirely but he had so far given her little reason to doubt him. She had hoped to keep her intentions as quiet as possible but it was inevitable that word of them were to slip. In a way it was a good thing; those that were betraying her people would know that she was coming for them and if they knew anything of her at all, they’d know she would find them and she would kill them.
Her face grew serious as she leaned forward, her elbows resting on the glass table top. There was no mistaking the clarity of her demeanour as she spoke.
"We’re a family. My unit may not be bound by blood but we fight, live and, if necessary die for each other. If you want in on any of this then I expect the same of you. Betray my family and I, and I’ll make sure there’s zero chance you make it out alive. Am I clear?"
She sat back, glass in hand. The importance and severity of her words still lingered in the air but her body language changed to a more relaxed state. She had made her point.
But do me a courtesy and never call me ma’am again. Ma’am was my mother. Rina or Ri will do, the squad call me most things and I answer.

**Zero tilted his head slightly to the side. She sounded so much like their father when she said that, the resemblance was uncanny. He nodded in the black buy'ce to indicate his understanding.**
Understood Rina. I would expect nothing less from the vode I fight with, and you shall receive that from me.
**He pulled out a datapad with his transfer request and a list of experience and expertise. He was listed as having a ship, though its name and number not being registered. There was a full tactical readout of the supplis that he generally needed, it was an extensive list, but most spec ops members utilized a variety of items and toys.**
I am eager to start with your unit Rina.
**His yearning to remove the buy'ce and be reunited with his twin was palpable to Achyan, but he knew that a time would come when they could be reunited and that was once their safety was secured...just like she said. This was family and they needed to be safe.**

Rina leaned forward taking the datapad from him. She thumbed through it quickly. There was little in the way of useful information. A good eighty five percent was redacted. Some argued that the omittals and struck words were in the interest of imperial security but Myrina didn’t share that view. Details were often struck to hide mistakes. She looked between Zero and his file.
"Are you sure they don’t call you Zero because the amount of useful information in this file is approximately that?"
She arched an eyebrow with a smile then pressed a thumb to the screen, confirming the transfer of Zero to her unit. She would be watching him closely despite his insistence that he would be loyal to her and his newfound family.
"I’ll see to it that you have all that you require. If you need anything a little more hard to come by, be assured that it will be available to you. The rest of the guys are enjoying a little downtime, we have several days before we’re due out."

**A slight chuckle escaped his lips at her joking. Zero knew that things had hardened his sister, but their father's sense of humor still was ever present in her. She had taken after him so much that it was uncanny. He inhaled deeply as pale blue eyes took in the presence of his twin. He took the datapad back from her and secured it in his hip. It was then that he realized he did not look into the others in the squad, just knew who was in command and that had been enough for him to want to join.**
Well I'm sure your file probably has lots redacted too. Perhaps we will have to swap stories later.
Who else is in Tsan Squad of Zeta?
**He cursed himself for not having looked into the others to be sure, but given his sister's cautious optimism there left little doubt in his mind that it would all be fine. Soon was the time when he would have his justice, for the Empire, for his squad, and safety for his family.**

"What is or isn’t in my file is beyond my control, but I’ve no issue with what I’ve done or who I’ve killed."
Myrina shrugged as she twisted the glass on the table.
"There’s six more; five men and one other woman. They’re a solid group, expertise in a number of areas; everything from medicine to communications and engineering to elite weaponry. You’ll get to meet them all in due time and although they’re on down time I’d stake a month’s pay that they’ve not actually left the barracks. Their dedication and loyalty to the Empire has cost them all dearly, so I don’t blame them for wanting to stick around and hone their skills before we ship out."
She took a sip of her ale then pushed the glass away from her. She leaned forward again, staring at him and although eye contact was impossible she knew exactly where she was looking. Her next question would no doubt put him on the spot – She had dealt with Special Ops before and they were as secretive as they came but she wanted, or rather needed to know.
"Tell me, Zero ... What has your loyalty cost you?"

**Zero nodded with Myrina’s words. She sounded just like their father, that carefree attitude. “The past is the past, what matters is now and where you go from here” he would tell them, and she definitely learned that lesson better from him than Zero.
Zero raised his glass once more in agreement, and set it down while watching and listening intently. She spoke fondly of the team, a kinship. This feeling brought back a well of emotions for Achyan as he remembered his last team. The four had been nearly inseparable until that fated day. Could he risk living through that again? Yes, for his family sake yes he could. As these soldiers were part of his twin’s family and so too were they going to be part of his. Achyan resolved himself in that mindset as she finished.
He watched as she leaned in and asked him the question. He had heard the question before, but never had he been so pointedly asked the question. Achyan breathed deeply and closed his eyes. “Everything” he wanted so badly to say, but the answer would prompt questions for which he did not have answers at the moment. Zero would have to ease into the answers later, but anything less than the truth here would be lieing to his twin, something that he did not want to do either. Achyan pondered his options for a few seconds before his blue eyes opened and looked back at her from behind his black buy’ce**
“My Loyalty to the empire has cost me more than I care to admit. I have lost precious time with my family. I have lost dear friends in combat. I have lost any hope of a relationship and a family of my own. The true answer to this question though is not what I have lost; because we all have lost and sacrificed much to get where we are, but the true measure of loyalty comes in what has one gained. I have gained a new family, family dedicated like myself for whom I would die. I have gained experience and skills that are useful in any situation and that cause people to respect me no matter where I might find myself. I have gained a new found appreciation for life. We hear so much about death and killing the enemy, but in order to pull that trigger and live with oneself, one has to truly understand life and what you are taking away from that person and what it means."
**Zero spoke and immediately realized he may have said too much. His years working rogue had lent to a willingness to question orders and analyze the why and whom behind them. He wondered how Myrina would take the answer.**

Myrina laughed at what he said. He sounded just like her father on the day Myrina and her brother started military academy. He made sure that each of his children knew and understood the gravity of life and death. Both had been young when their mother had passed and he had made it a priority to be honest with his children about the world, the evils that existed within it and the necessity of action and its consequences.
"You sound just like my father"
She quipped with a sad smile. He had died not long after her brother’s ill-fated mission to Feenix and the presentation of his son’s weapon to her. Fever had taken him early into his 50s. He had grown tired of the world and the corruption that had existed within it. It had taken his strength, his fight and his family but he knew Myrina would find it in herself to put right the wrongs that had so plagued them.
“Death and loss are inevitable” he would tell us. “it comes to us all whether we want it to or not. It’s a match that ignites our world. Never be afraid to use that fire but if you do, use it wisely. Never shy away from what you do or what you have to do. Haat and Ijaa above all else.”

**Zero nodded in his buy'ce to her remarks about their father.**
He sounds like a wise and honorable man.
**He had missed the funeral and cursed himself for it. He had been chasing some of the team responsible for his freinds' deaths into the inner rim. Achyan had pained greatly at that fated decision, and now wished he had been there, but he knew that his father understood, after all Haat and Ijaa where what he was after. Achyan took a deep breath once more and exhaled slowly. He needed to keep himself mentally and emotionally in check right now. This was a dangerous plan, but as he saw it; the only way.**
To the honored who passed before us!
**Zero raised the glass and tipped his buy'ce back just enough to drink, but still hide the majority of his face as he raised his glass in cheer and then drank deeply and quickly to the memories of those long past.
Upon finishing he set the drink down and rose from his seat, reaffixing his buy'ce and seemed ready to get underway. The meeting had been more emotional than anticipated and Zero hoped to keep it moving in order to help keep his mind focused and in check.**

Rina smiled at his toast, stood and grabbed hold of her helmet by its rim. She looked at Zero and motioned for him to follow her with a jerk of her head. She left the remainder of her drink on the table along with a small stack of credits; enough to cover both their drinks and several for the team when they came in later.
As Zero fell in beside her, the two left the cantina and stepped out into the hazy sunlight. She blinked a few times against the relative brightness and carried on down the path that lead towards the living quarters.
“Your list … speak to Sacha, she’ll be able to hook you up. She’s our go to. No-one asks questions so I suggest you do the same. Like I’ve said, the team is solid, not fond of outsiders so you might be a little … put out in the cold so to speak. It’s nothing personal. We’ve all be burned before so it’s a natural reaction, but I’ll treat you no different to anyone else on the team because you are no different.”
The path weaved through buildings populated by civilians and military alike. Both played an important role in the Empire and one could not function without the other.
As they approached the building her squad called home, a row of three tents became visible. The dark green panels rippled in the breeze. Outside, a bare-chested man sat lounged in a chair with his eyes closed against the sunlight. His booted feet were propped up on a munitions case and his blaster was within easy reach to the side of him. Rina and Zero passed him, with the commander scoffing as she took the stairs two at a time.
“You won’t catch a tan in this light”
The man didn’t move. He knew Rina’s footsteps better than he knew his own.
“I’m just getting the base going. All this haze will burn off by the time the hard work starts.”
He called after her but his only reply was Rina’s fading laughter. She pulled the door open and held it briefly for Zero to enter behind her.
“That was Jax. Token pretty boy but he’s a damn good soldier. Lost his mother and two brothers a while back, rarely talks about them. We were in the same class back at the academy. There’s no formal second in command but everyone falls in behind him.”
She led Zero down a brightly lit corridor to a large room lined with bunk beds; five sets each side. Only a small number of them were made up, the rest still had their mattress rolled and blankets folded neatly beside them. Sacha sat on the floor between two bunks, the pieces of her blaster rifle laid out before her. Looked up, her cheek mottled purple and green with a fading bruise and a dark line on her lower lip. She was about thirty two, slightly older than Myrina with blonde hair pulled into a ponytail. She looked back and forth between Rina and Zero.
“Who’s he?” she asked, speaking to Myrina but looking straight at Zero.
“New guy. Where are the boys?”
“Where do you think? But what do you mean new guy? Since when did we need a new guy?”
“Since I approved it, that’s when.”
Myrina lead Zero past Sacha towards the double doors that lead away from the bunks towards a large room that the rest of the squad used as an impromptu training room. Before they reached the doors, they passed Ellis, a dark haired technical operative in his mid-twenties. He was hunched over a schematic, tracing the wiring and cross referencing it against an exposed piece of kit in front of him. Myrina nudged him with a smile. He grunted and waved her off. Rina continued to smile as she pushed the doors open and lead Zero down the corridor.
“Ellis a good kid. He’s tech ops and coms. He can fix just about anything put in front of him.”
As they reached the doors, Rina stopped and looked at Zero.
“These guys are assholes but they’re some of the most loyal men you will ever call a brother.”
She pushed the doors open to the sound of grunting, crunching bone and the splattering of blood. Two brutish men fought with each other. They were a mass of scarred skin, rippling muscle and traditional tattoos. Caeda was six foot four inches, shaven head with burn scars across his upper torso. He had been burned during a mission long before he had met Myrina and as much as he hated his scars they were as much a part of him as his own beating heart. He fought with his blood brother Aaeron Aaeron was slightly smaller than his kin but built just as heavily. They were watched by Nazaar, the last to join their group. He was just shy of six feet, glassy blue eyes and generally mean looking. Traditional tattoos weaved their way up his arms and peeped from the top of his black t-shirt. The brothers continued to fight as Naz looked over his shoulder at Myrina and Zero. He looked Zero up and down and then looked back to Rina.
“New guy?”

**Zero followes silently behind. His breathing picked up ever so slightly. A team, he was going to be working with a team once more. The thought made him slightly apprehensive especially after what had happened to his last team and with him having been rogue for so long. Zero breathed deeply again to help settle his nerves as he kept in pace behind the slightly shorter team leader.
Upon stepping into the sun and haze, the beskar’gam’s regulators kicked in as the black armor was light but still warm in the Concord Dawn sun. His buy’ce shielded his eyes from the bright light and he followed pace easily behind the commander.**
All requisitions go through Sacha, understood.
**He remarked back as a sign of understanding and commitment to her directives.**
In this line or work, being burned is something we all deal with. I’m assuming there is a, “we do not talk about past ops” general rule that everyone follows?
**He inquired. Each person had their own past and Achyan knew that there were things that he had done in the name of the empire, things of which he was not proud; though he understood that sometimes necessity for the empire took priority.**
Either way, aside from what is in my file I do not plan to share and be overly chummy either so it should all be fine. I will have and follow my orders and that is what matters.
**He remarked very pointedly.
He continued to follow her. He nodded to Jax as they passed, Zero suppressing the urge to chime in too. He was the outsider and his place would need to be earned, best not to try and infuse himself so soon. He did chuckle at Rina’s comments towards the pseudo lieutenant.
When they walked by Sacha, Achyan figured that this must be her as she was the only other female that Rina had listed on the team. He lingered for a second to briefly introduce himself, best to get the formalities with this one done quickly Zero thought.**
Sacha I presume. Name is Zero, I’m the new Sniper.
**He remarked quickly. Lingering only briefly expecting either a curt or no reply given her initial enthusiasm at his presence. After which he followed Rina towards the next room.
Upon reaching Ellis, Zero nodded as he too was alerted to their presence. Achyan was receiving just the type of welcome he was expecting to the new transfer that no one knew. Again he breathed deeply and followed Myrina further into the training room. His pale blue eyes quickly scanned the training room from a tactical perspective, it was habit and he was sure they would notice and they generally did likewise. He quickly stepped up show his presence, these three were the physically dominant members of the team and as such he needed to quickly establish that he was not just a piece of fresh meat.**
So you think I’m the new guy? New guy implies you think I’m fresh and green, but rest assured I know my way around any sniper or assault rifle you have ever seen. The name is Zero because that’s what chance you have of getting away if I see you in the crosshairs.
**He folded his arms across his chest, he knew it was a bit showy, but it would serve to show his own bravado and be obviously a bit inflated, but they would feel little pressure from a sniper at least. He stood his ground and watched. He would obviously be shorter than this group, even in his black beskar’gam.**

Naz looked to Caeda and Aaeron, his finger pointed straight at Zero. The look on his face was one of disbelief. There was no denying that Zero’s words and the way he stood were nothing short of ballsy.
N: “Get a load of him”
He said, jerking his head in Zero’s direction. Rina remained quiet with her hands folded behind her back. Her silence allowed the exchange to continue, but she was ready to step in and put them both in their place should it be warranted.
Caeda and Aaeron made their way over to the small group. Both of them eyed Zero with the same caution that Rina had in the cantina. They had heard Zero warn Naz from a distance and it was Aaeron, the younger of the two that spoke up.
A: “Who’s the one implying, now? He said you were new, not green. Do you really think you’d be stood next to her if you were fresh outta school?”
Aaeron motioned towards Myrina. All of them had long careers, some more distinguished than others but all had proven themselves in combat in some way. He passed Zero and grabbed a towel that was hanging over the chair beside him. He wiped the blood from his knuckles, picked up a small cantina of water and took a generous mouthful. He tossed it to his brother once he was done. The work out had left him a little breathless but he felt good for the bruises.
A: “Aaeron. Caeda and Naz.”
He pointed to the men as he named them then slung the towel over his shoulder.
A: “Zero. Self-given nickname?”
Naz chirped in as quickly as he could. He stood and took a step towards Zero. The dislike between them was becoming clearer and clearer with each passing second.
N: “Please tell me it is, I just need a reason…”
Caeda laughed and screwed the top back onto the cantina.
C: “Turn it in boys”
Rina smiled and moved to speak when the doors came flying open. Ellis slid into the room amid the group. His enthusiasm was tangible.
E: “Who fancies a trip to Rishi?”

**Zero’s expression was hidden behind his black beskar’gam and buy’ce. He moved his head between the trio as they talked and approached, his arms motionless at his side. Well they certainly are smarter than they appear. Zero thought to himself, that was a plus. He stood his ground as Naz approached him, his left hand slipped down and already loosed the bindings to a hidden stun baton attached to his thigh. The baton stayed in place, but was ready to come out if needed, as the slightly taller but still shortest of the trio came in very close.**
My old squad gave me the name, sorry to ruin your day.
**Zero remarked rather wanting to avoid antagonizing them any further. The tension was palpable until Ellis walked in anxiously. Zero resecured the hidden stun baton to his leg and turned to face Ellis.**
Rishi you say. Sounds fun.

Rina looked back and forth between Zero and Naz as the two continued to bicker. She could see her soldier getting more and more agitated and the movement of Zero’s hand to his thigh did not go unnoticed, no matter how subtle he thought it was. She was just about to say something when the doors opened and Ellis mentioned Rishi with an abundance of enthusiasm. She looked confused for a second, she didn’t have any sources on Rishi and neither did the others, at least not that she knew of. Rina looked at the group then followed behind Ellis as he led them back to the main bunk space.
When they entered, Sacha and Jax were already waiting. They were engaged in deep conversation as a holo-projection of the planet rotated slowly in front of them. They immediately stopped when they saw their commanding officer approach. Rina raised her eyebrow at their apparent secrecy.
R: “Don’t stop on our account”
Sacha glanced at Jax, her cheeks flushing slightly then turned back to the projector, hoping to change the subject. Once everyone had taken their places Ellis began to speak.
E: “So, we’ve had confirmation that a group of recently defected vod have shown up on Rishi. Word has it they’re laying claim to a series of attacks and bombings on Kalevala and most recently Manda'yaim.”
Caeda growled and slammed his hand down onto the table.
C: “they’re no vod of mine, that’s for damn sure”
Aaeron slapped his back in agreement but continued to listen.
E: “Well this band of whatever you want to call them have yet to say why only that they have.”
Jax frowned in confusion.
J: “But why they are on Rishi, there’s no Mandalorian outpost there, no target of any value. There’s nothing.”
Rina cut him off quickly. She leaned forward and pointed towards one of the glowing hubs on the planet’s surface.
R: “It’s a pirate’s paradise. Guns, women, spice, you name it; that place has it in abundance. Stable law and order is virtually non-existent. You could be the scum of the earth and you wouldn’t get as much as a sideways glance. If they’re planning anything then Rishi would a pretty good place to plan it”
Ellis enlarged the area that Myrina had pointed to. It showed the heart of the city and the arteries that fed it. A number of spaceports were visible on the outlying areas as well as several high rise landing spots in more central locations.
E: According to my sources, their presence has been increasing in this area. It’s more industrial than residential so civilian casualties would be minimal. Caches of weapons have been spotted going in and out of these two warehouses.”
A: Are you sure it’s not just the natives gearing up for a localised attack against some resident asshole? I mean, I’m sorry, but you don’t exactly have the best track record with sources, Ell.
Ellis shook his head. It was true that some sources in the past weren’t the most reliable but he had learned from his mistakes and he was sure to verify any piece of information, no matter how insignificant it might appear to be, before bringing it to the attention of his superiors.
E: We wouldn’t be discussing it if it wasn’t iron clad.
He turned to Myrina and pointed at the map.
E: It’s solid intel. I promise you.
The insistence in his voice was clear. Rina chewed the inside of her lip as she thought quickly on what to do. Her gut told her to go with Ellis. She owed it to those killed on her homeworld as well as those on Kalevala to bring these men in, in either body bags or chains, she wasn’t fussy.
R: You’re sure?
E: I’d stake my life on it.
She looked at the map; quickly formulating plans of attack, working out vantage points and extraction zones. She felt the eyes of her squad baring down on her with increasing intensity the longer she stayed quiet.
R: Grab your shit. We’re going hunting.

**Zero silently followed Rina into the room where Ellis had the briefing equipment set up. His buy'ce on his head tilted a bit sideways as he watched intently with arms folded across his chest. Zero was at ease but attentive as he watched and listened. His buy'ce indicating his gaze as several people chmed in. These were not Vod, the brothers were right about that, they had turned their backs on the empire and were now mere terrorists. Something, Zero was all to happy to hunt todwn. Though the question of why Rishi was right. Indeed it was a hive for scum and villainy, but it was also strategically positioned along a major Mandalorian trade corridor, so the chances of them being observed was quite high so, they are either dumber than they seem or smarter than they seem. In either case caution was the prudent approach, though Achyan was concerned that if large caches of weapons were moving siwftly than likely something was happening soon, or they were not sticking around for long, in either case they had better act fast. He glanced at Myrina as she called them all to gather their gear and move out. He raised his eyebrows almost as if she had said what he was about to suggest. Zero turned followed suit. He pulled out a datapad and signalled R8 to ready the ship for takeoff to Rishi. He followed the group as he knew the droid could handle the ship even without him.**

Having been met in the spaceport by the Mandalorian Protectors which had been sent to escort them to the mess hall where they are to meet with the Aliit'alor of Clan Fett, Torin and Molan Bralor follow their escorts and patiently wait for the meeting to begin. Aliit'ator. One of the Fett clansman nudges the older Galaar in the shoulder before nodding behind him. The Mandalorian turns to see the men of Clan Bralor standing at the doorway, with a pair of Mandalorian Protectors at their flanks. Galaar sighs as he reaches for his glass of Tihaar and downs it in one go. He hated the politics of clans, but it was a necessity. A necessity that was made all too aware by the late Mandalore, and his blood-brother, Cassus Fett. Galaar wipes his chin before rising, leaving his helmet at the table for now.
He approaches Torin and Molan Bralor. The older Mandalorian looking at the two of them before gesturing to an available table.Take a seat and have some drink and food while we talk. The Aliit'ator walks over with them and sits across from the two of them. What brings Clan Bralor all the way to Concord Dawn these days?
