Akulas was not the biggest fan of events like this. Not the war game, that she was excited about. This party before hand was the event she didn't like. She hater the dress uniform, she thought it fit her weird, she prefered her armor or a combate suit. But The Grand Moff had instructed her enough the Akulas could put this discomfort aside. Unlike other squad leaders, she stood alone, waiting for this obligation to be done and freedom to return to her squad and barracks. The other squad leaders sought out people to talk too. Akulas sat holding a still full cup of some kind of drink, and smiled.

Fionnuala Priest of House Bralor, the orange and black buy'ce matching her beskar'gam tucked under an arm, nods and grins as she replies to the question she has been asked, "Yep, you heard me right. A Rancor. And look, she isn't a pet, make sure everyone understands that she's an honored companion of the Empress just like her rider, a'right?" Contacted by Empress Delvardus about an upcoming visit from her, her youngest children, and a Witch of Dathomir and her Rancor mount, Fionnuala had come from Calna Muun to oversee the visit personally.
Nodding, Eimhear Itera of House Bralor, removes his green buy'ce as he says, "Got it. Looking towards the eastern side of the small base situated inside one of Agamar's forests, he says, We can set up some kind of sleeping area for the Empress's guest over there, that way it . . ." The platoon leader currently assigned to manning the small outpost, had been present when the First Order and his clan took Agamar, and though he has never met the Empress personally, had been present during one of her previous visits.
Fionnuala interrupts, "Dawntree. The Rancor's name is Dawntree. I don't think she'd like be called an it, do you? And she's an honored companion of the Empress, not her guest."
Eimhear nods, "Dawntree should be comfortable enough, and close by for her rider. I'll make sure my people have the Empress and her guests' quarters ready, and have patrols stepped up while they're here."
Fionnuala nods, "Jate. Remind them that even though Delvardus isn't too big on etiquette, and will not insist on it, that I want them to . . ."
Guessing where the Morganian is going, Eimhear tells her, "Understood. They'll be respectful, but not overly formal."
Fionnuala claps his shoulder, "Right. The kids will be looking to train, so try and think of who'd be best with them, maybe some of your younger guys closest to their ages. Motioning towards the messhall with her chin, she says, Let's grab some chow, see about coming up with other things to keep 'em all entertained while they're here," and then heads for the messhall with Eimhear.

It was barely the crack of dawn as The Skid Lid Sizzler was gracefully guided through the forest and the Bralor Compound came into view. Buf was no ace pilot, but he was very practised with the Cargo Skiff. He could pilot it as expertly as an ace pilot flew a Basilisk-class Assault Fighter. He pulled the Skiff up to the compound entrance and presented the guard with the credentials Fionnuala had provided to him three days prior. The last day had been pretty hectic as he went about gathering supplies from his various contacts to make sure he was well and truly stocked on. But the work would be well and truly worth it.
After a few back and forths, Buf was waved through into the compound. He guided the Skiff around the compound to the intended landing pad, where he set down and powered the skiff controls off. Without missing a beat, he got to work setting up. He pulled a couple burners out and got them lined up with a spit roast set up. He kept his focus on preparing the speciality meat he had procured for feeding Dawntree the Rancor. He lightly seasoned the meat before racking it on the spike and setting it on the roaster. Setting the burners to a low, slow heat allowed Buf to turn his attention to the next task. The gang plank extended out from the Cargo Skiff, but it looked a bit thicker compared to the stock one. Which it absolutely was, because this one had a very special feature.
Buf swung a set of feet down, before activating a locking mechanism which allowed the gang plank to come detached from the Skiff. Buf pulled down the other set of legs before moving the entire piece into position. Activating another set of controls caused the top cover to come off, revealing a grill surface. His usual business did not require its use much, but special occasions like this were perfect for a much larger cook surface. He hooked in the fuel lines and then started unloading several chests and the wok burner set up. His skills and ability within the Force allowing him to accomplish the work with ease and alone as his kitchen setup came together.
With the set up done, Buf started his food prep. Vegetables were sliced and diced, meat was portioned out, rice was set into the cooker. The monotonous ritual allowed Buf to lose himself to the calm before the eventual storm that was going to be service time. His prep was only interrupted by lighting up the Grill and frying up some breakfast dishes for some of the guards and the trainee's

After doing a walk around of the base to ensure the preparations for their guests have all been completed and going over the plans with Eimhear and the other Mando'ade that she has assigned specific tasks to, Fionnuala heads over to The Skid Lid Sizzler to see how Buf is getting along. After shooing off the few Mando'ade that, drawn by the enticing smells coming from the cargo skiff and the breakfast dishes that Buf is generously doling out, Fionnuala heads inside the skiff to where Buf is busily working away, greeting him cheerfully,Su cuy'gar, vod! Looks like you're pretty much all set back here. I got word from our guests not too long ago that they'll be arriving shortly before noon, so if you want a break or anything, now's the time. Removing her buy'ce and taking up a bowl, Fionnula starts serving herself up a mishmash of the leftovers from the breakfast items Buf had made for the other Mando'ade, explaining with a grin, "Wouldn't want any of this to go to waste, would we?"
Leaning back against the sink and digging in with her chopsticks, Fionnuala asks, "Any last minute things you need? I can send someone out to grab it if so."

Buf had finished serving up the last of the breakfast dishes when Fionnuala showed up and shooed the rest away, allowing him to get to work cleaning up the massive grill plate Su cuy'gar! It is good to see you vod! Dig in all you like... He kept at work scraping up the last of the burned on residue from the breakfast service. As tended to happen at such events he had cooked up quite a bit and there were plenty of leftovers to pick through. Porg Bacon, Fambaas Scrambled Eggs, Nuna Sausages, and Steamed Rice. A decent breakfast feast for anyone. He smiled behind his mask as she started digging into some leftovers you're a growing woman, ner'vod, and need a good hearty meal. I think I am all set up for the time being. Taking a break would be good... He moved across the makeshift kitchen area and dished up some of the leftovers for himself. He got out one of his few ceramic bowls from one of the cabinets and produced a pair of beskar chopsticks. He tilted his helmet up just enough to expose the stumbled chin and his mouth, allowing him to get in his own breakfast for the day ahead

"Vor'e, vod! Ni mirdir ni Keliir vaabir shi ibac!" * Fionnuala tells Buf with a wink as she deftly picks up a bit of steamed rice with a piece of Nuna sausage with her chopsticks and pops it into her mouth. Making an inarticulate moan of pleasure accompanied by a matching expression, Fionnuala points with her chopsticks to the bowl and then rubs her stomach to give Buf her opinion on the leftovers.
Just like the face always kept concealed beneath his buy'ce, Buf himself is a bit of a mystery; no one seems to know about his past, or what he does when not plying his known trade, and even though he and Fionnula have always bantered with a familiarity and ease that feasibly suggests they could be friends, she had observed early on in their acquaintance that he never digs much into her life and so had followed suite despite her curiosity. Before they have any time to start up their usual raillery, however, Eimhear Itera of House Bralor approaches The Skid Lid Sizzler and, offering Buf a nod while Fionnuala gets a salute, tells Fionnuala that he has just received word that their guests have arrived in orbit on schedule and will be arriving soon. Slapping Eimhear's hand away from her bowl as he attempts to snag a slice of Porg Bacon, Fionnuala thanks him, instructs him to make sure everything is in order for the impending arrival, and then shoos him off.
Sighing as she begins rapidly scarfing down the remnants of her breakfast just as she would were she about to embark on a mission with no idea of when next she will be able to eat rather than taking her time to fully enjoy it, Fionnuala tells Buf, "Jor'ad cuyir bat, vod. ** Anything you need from us? Washing her bowl and drying it, she explains, We'll do the whole meet n' greet dance when they set down, then turn things over to you. Tucking an errant dreadlock behind a pointed ear while picking up her buy'ce, Fionnuala tilts her head to the side as she asks Buf, You play Meshgeroya, vod? Apparently the Empress used to play back in her college days, so we were thinking of setting up a game sometime after chow, and could use another player. Shrugging, well aware that the beautiful game is not for everyone, she adds, Or, if Dejarik is more your thing, I understand the daughter is more into that than Meshgeroya and so probably wouldn't mind an opponent."
* Thanks, bro'! I think I will do just that! ** Party is on, bro.

It was always nice to see the reactions his food drew from people. In fact, he prided himself on making the best food possible at affordable prices. Fionnuala was the latest in a long line of very satisfied customers, as she dug into the leftovers. He was grateful for her patronage and her friendship. Her business was what helped him pay the bills, and her friendship had meant a mutual agreement not to pry about each others past unless offered. Not that he had anything particular to hide about what he had done before. But he much preferred to focus on his current career as a chef.
He was finishing up his breakfast as Eimhear approached and spoke with Fionnuala for a moment before being shooed away. Buf got to work cleaning his dishes as Fion confirmed that their guests were shortly about to arrive I'm all good from here on... He got to work doing on last clean and wipe down of the grills, before getting the grill surface warmed up and double checking on the slow cooking chunk of meat intended for the Rancor. He turned back to Fionnuala as she asked about his preference of gaming activity In my younger years, I was quite the Meshgeroya player. But such years are well behind me vod. Dejarik is definitely much more my speed. It would be an honour... He moved back over to the grill surface and started testing out his cooking implements and checking the sharpness of his blades. His tools were made of exquisite materials and would not dull or chip any time soon. But Habitual checks meant any imperfections would be quickly discovered

Remus sets the Wayfarer down on the landing pad in the forest, and starts to do the post-flight checks.
Nechama, a forty five year old Sarkhai, moves from her co-pilot's seat to behind Remus and tells him, "I'll handle those, I'm sure your Mum wants you and your sister to be with her to meet the Mandos."
Nodding, Remus says, "Right, right," and heads aft to join his sister, mother and Mavera as they get ready to disembark.
Faina, garbed in her Imperial Knight armor, is speaking with Mavera as Remus arrives, telling the Witch of Dathomir, "We'll exit from the portside module's boarding ramp so Dawntree can join us. I'm sure she's more than ready to get some fresh air after the journey."
Moments later, Faina and her children, flanked by Mavera mounted on Dawntree on one side and Voshkie Sarkissian, a forty three year old female Atoan Imperial Knight also attired in her armor, walk down the boarding ramp to meet with the Mandalorians they are here to visit.

"Jate koor, * Fionnuala tells Buf when he says that would prefer playing Dejarik to Meshgeroya, and then looks towards the landing platform as the Wayfarer touches down. Tucking her buy'ce under an arm, Fionnuala tells Buf, Haa'taylir gar nusujii, ** vod!" as she jogs off to join Eimhear and the handful of other Mandalorians heading towards the landing platform to greet the Empress and her party.
Fionnuala makes it to the landing platform just as the boarding ramp lowers, giving a low whistle of admiration as she see the Rancor and her mount, impressed by the sight she imagines not many ever get the chance to see. Smiling as she steps forward with Eimhear to greet the Empress and her group, Fionnuala says in Basic, "Welcome back to Agamar, Empress, then kneels to be on their level as she greets Remus and Yvaine cheerfully, Prince and Princess, look how you've both grown since I last saw you. Standing back up, she gives Voshkie a nod, Knight Sarkissian, then sketches a jaunty salute to the Witch mounted on the Rancor, Pleasure to meet you, I'm Fionnuala Priest of House Bralor, then gestures towards her companions as she introduces them since the Witch has yet to meet them unlike the Empress and her children and Imperial Knight companion, This is Eimhear Itera of House Bralor, a male in green and black beskar'gam nods, Ime, Ige and Ife Bralor and their Strill, Prudii, three young female Mandalorians of Chalactan descent, their buy'ce's tucked under their left arms, obviously triplets, dressed in scuffed plastoid armor of mix and match colors and styles that have obviously been handed down more than once each wave identically as they are introduced while the gray furred Strill simply sits protectively near them, Fionnuala gestures towards a group of young male Mandalorians that all wave or nod as they are introduced and appear to be of, respectively, Kaleesh, Miralan and Pantoran ancestry, and last but not least, Cian, Kieran and Colm Bralor."
Motioning towards The Skid Lid Sizzler off in the distance after all of the introductions and greetings are concluded, Fionnuala says, "If you'll come this way, we have a rather unique welcoming feast prepared. I hope, she adds cheerily, you have all brought your appetites!"
* Good deal ** See you soon

He gave a bow of his head to Fionnuala as she headed to the Wayfarer as it descended from the sky and touched down upon the landing pad. With their guests now landed, Buf checked the prepared ingredients and food, making sure it was all there and ready to go. Heaters were keeping reserves of Rice properly heated, piles of Noodles sat on trays while the water sat at boiling temperature. Meats, both pre-seasoned and not, sat on counters and within chiller fridges.
He set the burners to low heats, to begin preheating the woks, pans, and the grilling surface. Once the guests sat down, food would need to be cooked and served up in short order whilst a good show was put on. Menu's sat out for everyone to peruse and make their choices from, which might have seemed odd considering a set menu would have carried less work. But Buf did not believe in forcing people to have no choice. He wanted them to have the full Skid Lid Sizzler experience

Mavera was giddy as she and Dawntree watched the landing ramp lower. It was good that Dawntree was so well taught, or she may have bolted straight for the forest they had landed in. The witch caught little of the conversation happening down below her. Here, mounted high on the back of her rancor, she could feel the breeze on her skin and flowing through her blonde hair. And with it, the living Force, far wilder and untamed on the planet than on the rock and metal world of Coruscant. Both her and Dawntree's eyes continued to be drawn to the woods, but both, bound by custom and duty, remained at the side of the Empress and her children. Soon they would be able to run and hunt, but not yet, first the royal entourage needed to be seen to.
As the Mandalorian stopped speaking, Mavera noticed her own rudeness and with a click of her mouth and some gentle pressure applied with her heels, Dawntree also returned her attention to the armored warriors before them. As one, the pair bowed. Thank you for the welcome. I am Mavera Nako and this is Dawntree. We are of the Dreaming River Clan. Your hospitality is most welcome.

Fionnuala grins merrily and nods her chin when Mavera replies to her greeting, and as she is possessed of an observant nature and has not missed the way both Dawntree and her rider cast their eyes towards the verdant forest surrounding the outpost, motions towards the outpost's southern gate, currently open and looking out onto the woodlands stretching out beyond it, tells Mavera and Dawntree. "If you two need to stretch your legs after the trip, I promise there will still be some chow left when you get back, taking a knee as she tells Dawntree, We even have something special just for you. Smiling cheerfully as she stands back up, the diminutive Morganian tucks an errant blonde dreadlock behind a pointy ear as, knowing from what the Empress had told her prior to the visit that Mavera serves as a protector of the Royal Family, she winks and says, And don't worry, I'll keep both eyes on 'em all until you get back."
Ime, the more social of the triplets, is, after taking a cautious step backwards after Dawntree bows, telling Mavera, unmindful of the fact she is speaking over Fionnuala as she is so used to speaking over one another as it is how she and her sisters have always communicated, "I'd love to learn more about your Cla. . ." gulping as, Ife, ever the prankster, not having failed to note her sister's step away from the bowing Rancor, nudges her forward unexpectedly, causing her to almost stumble into Dawntree before she recovers her balance.
"Gonna have to check your shorts? Ife asks Ime before turning her attention to Yvaine, Wassup, Princess? How've ya been?"
Ige, apropos of nothing, wonders aloud to no one in particular, "I wonder if Dawntree wants to play Meshgeroya? If so, she tells anyone who happens to listening whether anyone is or not, I want to be on her team."
Ife, able to attend to more than one conversation after having acquired the skill by virtue of necessity given her and her sisters default method of communication, listens to Yvaine as she tells Ige, "Nah. Rules, Ige, rules. No Force powers and I'm pretty sure a no Rancors clause is in the book somewhere, then claps Yvaine on the shoulder as she turns her towards the Skid Lid Sizzler and tells her, I'll tell you what to order to get the best show. Wait'll ya see ol' Buf in action!"
While the triplets speak with Mavera, Dawntree and Yvaine, Colm, Kieran and Cian, fortunately for Remus, take turns as they playfully chide him about the boxy Wayfarer he arrived, brag about the Kom'rk fighters they been training on, and make plans to show him around one at the nearest opportunity.

Faina smiles as she watches the antics of the triplets, and then tells Mavera after Fionnuala has suggested that both Dawntree and her mount should feel free to avail themselves of the opportunity to roam the forest after being confined aboard the Wayfarer, and on Coruscant before that, with little need to worry about the safety of Faina or her children with so many Mandalorians about, "Really, Mavera, we'll be perfectly fine if you want to let Dawntree run freely now that we've arrived, adding as she knows Mavera might feel as though to do so would be abandoning her post, think of it as scouting the perimeter to make sure there's no threats lurking about."
After watching her children and the younger Mandalorians chattering together for a moment, Faina asks Fionnuala as they make their way to the Skid Lid Sizzler, "How have you been? How is Roisin?" Stopping to examine one of the menus before deciding what to order, Faina watches the chef work as he starts to prepare the orders of the Mandalorians that had first made their way to the cargo skiff converted into a mobile food stall, understanding quickly why it was that Fionnuala had described the welcoming feast as unique.
Yvaine laughs as Ife and her sisters talk over one another as usual, and then tells Ige, "I'm pretty sure Ife is right, Ige, Dawntree would probably present an unfair advantage to whichever team she was on. Addressing Ime as well as Mavera, she says, It would be cool to learn more about the Dreaming River Clan, Mavera! Maybe you could tell us more about them later?" Chattering with Ife, Yvaine does her best to answer her questions, animatedly describing her Imperial Knight training as well as her most recent academic interests, primarily in the sciences, with history and cultural anthropology not far behind them.
Remus, while usually more stoic in disposition, finds it easy to loosen up a little with Cian, Kieran and Colm, doing his best to defend the Wayfarer and appearing excited to have the chance to explore a Kom'rk when the opportunity arises.

As the first of the guests arrived for lunch meals, Buf started cranking up various burners as cooking pans were slid over burners and oil was sizzled. Prepared meat and vegetables were thrown in fluidly and seared to perfection. Seasoning was dashed about before meals were quickly appearing in bowls and on plates with cutlery readily available. Anticipating that the Witch and her Steed would wish to take a walk first, he adjusted the burners down upon the spit to ensure the meat would not overcook. With that task attended to, he went back to working through the orders as the Empress and Fionnuala made their way to the Skid Lid Sizzler. Waving off a couple of Vod, he flagged the pair down to sit at the bench in front of the grill Su'cuy ner'vod, come the best seats in the house for two lovely ladies... He ran his scrapper across the grill surface to ensure its cleanliness, before spritzing some oil about and going through testing his cookware. The pre-show was beginning as he worked his way along the Grill length to shoo away the older Mando's to make seating for the kids possible

"'Course I'm right, when am I ever not right, right?” Ife asserts with a grin when Yvaine backs up her no Rancors in Meshgeroya stance, and then listens to the Princess update her on what she's been up to as they head for the Skid Lid Sizzler, interrupting occasionally to comment, and then shares the progress she and her sisters have been making towards their verd'goten.
Fionnuala replies to the Empress' question cheerfully, "Been real good, keepin' busy, ya know? When asked about Roisin, her partner, she says a bit less cheerily, She's good too, explaining, She's been deployed to Obroa-Skai to help with the relief effort there. Gathering from the Empress' expression that the attack on Obroa-Skai is not yet common knowledge, Fionnuala is brief in her explanation so as not to undercut the festive mood, Attempted invasion, our people handled it. Glad that they arrive at the Skid Lid Sizzler and are greeted by Buf in his customarily flirtatious manner before the conversation about Obroa-Skai goes on much longer, Fionnuala tells Buf, playfully flirting right back with him as usual, Su cuy'gar tug'yc, vod! Ni aalar guuror vi shi shi payt solus shol'shya, a cuy' briikase at cuyir norac, sa ratiin, * and then sits down and winks as, knowing he knows her usual order, she tells him, Gar kar'taylor meg ni copad." **
Ife, deftly and hastily maneuvering around the older Mando'ade that Buf shoos away to give the younger members of the group spots to sit, hops up on a seat and says, using Basic so the Prince and Princess can follow along, "Buf, my good man! I'll have the number thirteen, she chooses one of the more complicated dishes so they get a good show, adding as she pats Yvaine on the shoulder, and the lil' Princess here will have the number eleven, choosing another dish that is highly entertaining to watch Buf prepare, before wrapping up by patting Prudii, taking her usual spot near to the triplets as though standing watch over them, on the furry head as she says, And don't forget about good ol' Pru', duder, she's always hooongry!"
Ime and Ige, along with Cian, Kieran and Colm all start shouting out their orders as soon as Ife pauses for breath, not wanting her to have the opportunity to start chattering again before they get the chance to do so.
* Hello again, brother! I feel like we only just left one another, but am happy to be back, as always ** You know what I want

Yvaine, giggling as Buf tells Fionnuala and her Mum that they can have the best seats since they are so pretty, waves cutely as she grins and teases him, "Only two lovely ladies, huh? Shouldn't that number be a bit higher? Nudging Ife in the ribs before the most talkative of the triplets gets a chance to get going, Yvaine asks her, Should we be offended, do you think?" Remembering Ife's offer to tell her what to order, Yvaine pauses and learns that what Ife meant was that she would order for her, but, as Ife does not stop after ordering for herself and then for Yvaine, can only nod cheerfully in agreement with whatever has been ordered for her.
Faina gathers from the way that Fionnula steers the conversation away from Obroa-Skai after giving a brief, almost certainly sanitized version of what had happened, that it is not a subject that their hostess wants to linger on for the time being and so files the questions she has away for a more appropriate time. Nodding a greeting to Buf after he has greeted her and Fionnula in what, gauging from the matching light tone that Fionnuala uses when replying to him, is his default conversational style, Faina smiles as she waves a hand towards him and says in a mildly teasing tone and in her grammatically correct but not quite convincingly accented Mando'a, "Sushir at gar,* and then, rather than trying to pick something from the menu when everything sounds so good, tells Buf, Gar gaanader par ni gedet'ye." **
Remus, in between talking about ships and starfighter tactics with Cian, Kieran and Colm, calls out his order along with them and then rejoins the conversation, which has somehow shifted from ships to a debate over whether Buf keeps his face concealed due to horrific scarring, to conceal his identity - which Cian suggests is that of a former Mand'alor while Kieran posits instead that it is that of a famous, disgraced holonet actor that has not been seen in years and Colm proposes it is that of a famous singer that is believed to have died while sitting on a toilet - or (as nearly all of the young Mando'ade seem to agree is the most likely yet least fun to speculate about theory) simply because he is one of the Children of the Watch.
* Listen to you ** you choose for me please

And like that, the group all arrived together, with everyone crowding around and onto the bench seating along the front of the grill. Buf soon found himself in a little bit of trouble from his over exuberance in his playful flirting with Fionnuala and Faina. He clicked and clacked his spatula's as he turned his gaze to the young princess Ah, but you all are still ad'ika, not quite ladies yet. However you are all aliit, and we feed aliit well here... He made note of each order as it was called out by various people, noting their seating position for when it was served up. He checked the menu for a moment as he considered the Empresses request. He tapped the pen against the chin of his helm I have a particularly tender and special cut of Shaak that I think you will enjoy greatly... He made a note of the the order and slid the order note into its place before turning his attention to cooking. He raised the heat on the Grill while serving out several large plates, one for each seat. With the heat now reaching its peak, Buf rolled out several vegetables and gave them several final cuts as he spread them out across the surface. His spatula's moving at great speed to toss and turn the food as it cooked. With the aide of the Force he caused several sections of a green stalk like vegetable to assemble into a person moonwalking across the grill surface, turning and cooking as they went.
He dished out the vegetables across the plates, turning now to the main meal of the teppanyaki. Several Nuna Eggs were rolled out, with Buf oiling up the surface before levitating them as he cracked each egg. Their liquid innards spilling out into a pool and starting to sizzle immediately. He gathered the shells and swept them away into a bin, his attention turning to seasoning the eggs before the spatula's seemed to flash away, cracking the yokes and mixing with the whites before the egg was rolled up and moved to the side where the grill heat was lower. Rice was soon spread across the grill, being combined with seasoning of its own and garlic butter. A dark sauce was sprinkled across the rice and mixed in with a collection of smaller vegetables. The egg was then slid across the grill top and the beskar cooking knife sliced cleanly through it, cross it to ribbons which were added into the rice.
He served the rice out onto the plates requiring it, while the temperature on the woks were raised. Moving in a seamless flow, he dished out several different cuts of meat onto different zones of the Grill. Pre-heated meat irons came out and sat atop some of the thicker cuts, while the thinner cuts were grilled, flipped, grilled again and then sliced into segments to go out. Several baskets of noodles were dropped into boiling water to allow them a moment to cook to the correct doneness while Buf returned to the meat. Flipping and cutting the thicker pieces and dishing out the cuts as required. He then flipped several pieces above his head and over into the woks, his focus shifting again as he pulled the noodles from the water and started sliding them into the woks, with sauces soon following. As soon as each one was done, they were dished into bowls and slid across the Grill to the seat they belonged to. Buf using the assistance of the Force to lift them up and over onto the plates.
He wrapped up the last couple of dishes and served them out to those at the grill before setting up one final trick. Setting several rings of a vegetable in decreasingly narrower rings into a pile, he showered some liquid into the base of it and splashed a little of another liquid around the pile. With a small flick of his wrist, a spark shot out and ignited the grill surface for a moment, the flames leaping up and then igniting the fluid within the cone, causing a large and intense jet flame to burst to life. As the smoke started to rise, he ran the mound across the cook top before slicing it up and dishing the char grilled vegetable remains out Haili cetare! With the main dishes done, he got to work cleaning the grill once more before he could turn his attention to making up some food of his own. He got out a small wrap and grilled some vegetables fast before cooking some Porg meat and wrapping it into a Taco. Leaning back against one of the wok cookers, he lifted his helmet a little revealing his chin and mouth to allow him to eat his own meal. A strong chin with a five o'clock shadow and featuring some scars could be made out by any breaking their attention away from their food to look

"Well, Yvaine smiles cheerfully after Buf has employed some playful semantics to explain why she and the young Mandalorian girls have no call to offended at his count of the lovely ladies present, as long as we're aliit then," and then watches as Buf and her Mum talk a bit after he has told her what her request that he choose her meal for her will be. Yvaine always likes seeing her Mum when she is not in what she thinks of as her mother's Empress or Grand Master modes, when she smiles more often and more easily and sincerely like she does now while talking with Buf and Fionnuala; it has always been the same with her Father too, like he and Mom are two different people - one pair the strong and stoic and cool and sometimes remote rulers of the Empire, and the other the warm, loving husband and wife and parents - and the older she gets Yvaine feels like they have less and less time to be that second pair, so she always likes times like this, times away from Coruscant and the demands their lives there place on her parents.
Yvaine watches with unguarded delight as she watches Buf cook, her eyes widening when it becomes obvious that he is a Force sensitive as he uses it to creatively enliven his already entertaining show. Never having met a Force sensitive Mandalorian before, Yvaine has about a billion questions bubble up in her mind, things like what Buf's views on the Force are and how those views might differ from her own, and what responsibilities, if any, Buf might feel come with being Force Sensitive, or what the Mandalorians of Clan Bralor think about him being a Force sensitive (she glances around at the thought and doesn't see any surprise on the faces or in the postures of the Mandalorians watching Buf's performance, so she gathers it is not apparently a thing they are concerned about), but since Buf is busy, she just files her questions away for a later time.
Remus and the young Mandalorian boys watch the shows with as much delight and interest as Yvaine, but being teen boys they do their best to look unimpressed and uninterested, though they do try and, when Buf removes his helmet, try and guess from the look of his stubbled, scarred chin which of them might be right about who he is, mostly joking as they know that none of their guesses are likely to be right.
When Buf takes a break, Yvaine seizes on the opportunity to talk with him, moving closer to him and, talking with a full mouth and gesturing to her bowl with her chopsticks, telling him, "S'really good! I really loved watching you cook too! I especially liked the way you made the veggies dance across the grill to get cooked. Launching into her questions without warning and in the un-selfconscious way some young do, she asks with little to no pausing between one question and the next, How did you find out you were Force sensitive? Did you get training from anyone, or are you self taught? Do you do other things with the Force than cooking? Do you think of it as just a power you can use or as . . ."
Patting Yvaine on the back and smiling apologetically to Buf, Faina says, "Remember, pet, three questions and then . . ."
Crinkling her nose with a grin, Yvaine recites, the exchange obviously a familiar one between mother and daughter, "And then we pause to give the other person a chance to answer, then looks at Buf and says, Sorry, sometimes I get a little carried away."

It was another successful show and meal, even if some of his audience tried to act as most teenage boys tended to do. But despite their attempted facades, they were easy to pierce through. A win as far as Buf was concerned.
He was almost done eating his Porg Taco as he sensed the sudden movement of the Princess toward him from a mixture of his combat training and a shift within the Force. He finished the last of his taco before letting his helmet slide down back into place as he leaned over the grill whilst the Princess grilled him with questions. She would be his opponent in Dejarik later, so it was a good chance to size his opponent up. Her chaotic child like energy on full display as she ate and spoke, asking him about his abilities with the Force in rapid fire before the Empress intervened for some reprieve to answer No need to apologise, being evaar'la is a time to be excited and full of energy. I'm glad you enjoyed the show and the food, there is no greater compliment to a Chef... Now, as to your questions... I was but a young lad when they discovered my sensitivity, maybe a couple years younger than yourself I'd wager. Quite an accident to be honest, but one without any adverse consequences. After that, I was sent off to train and learn with the Mandalorian Knights, while we Mandalorians have had a very chequered past with Force Sensitives, some still kept our ancient traditions alive even as our leaders misguided us down the wrong paths... There had been a few stints where Force Users were forced to flee from Mandalore as sentiment toward them had fouled amongst the leadership. But despite that, the Knights had existed in one form or another within and outside of Mandalorian held space There was a time when I once used my powers for akaan... for war... but those days are long behind me. I try to avoid using it for anything more than my cooking. But... trouble tends to find us all sometimes and we must all be ready to defend ourselves and protect those less able... There had been a rare few occasions when travelling in which some rougher crowds had wanted to test their luck. But he had turned them all away from such foolishness. His Pistol and Rifle were good deterrents As for what the Force is... Well... that is a complex question. It is not just some weapon or tool to pick up and use without thought. The Force gives back what it receives, you have to feel it... immerse yourself in its currents and eddies... There are a great many schools of thought about the Force, few of which I completely agree with. I came to my own understanding of it, and that's what is most important. Making sure you understand it in a way that makes sense to you...

Contrary to popular belief, and despite all evidence indicating otherwise, there are times when Yvaine is quiet -mostly when learning new information that interests her enough that she takes the time to absorb it and roll it around in her mind as she fits it together with other facts and bits of knowledge that she possesses to see how the new additions to her knowledge might enhance or change her understanding of things - and hearing about Buf's past and his views on the Force proves to be one of those moments where she is fascinated enough by what he says that, rather than peppering him with additional questions immediately, she purses her lips in thought as she says, "That makes sense," in a tone more indicative of mulling over what she has learned than merely agreeing with his assertion that one needs to come to their own understanding of the Force.
Remus, grinning as he sees Yvaine go into what he calls her working things out mode, tells Buf, "Wow, congratulations, sir. I think you just bought us all at least a few minutes of peace and quiet," using the opportunity to surreptitiously peer over the counter to see if he can spot a lightsaber anywhere on the mysterious Mandalorian chef; having heard Buf mention being trained by the Mandalorian Knights make him wonder if he carries a lightsaber still.
Only half paying attention to Remus and the three younger Mandalorian boys start revising their theories about Buf's identity now that they have learned a little about his past, Yvaine thinks about what she was taught about the Force by her Mum and during her training as an Imperial Knight and compares it to what Buf has explained about his views. Having been taught that the Force is an ability, nothing more, Yvaine knew from some of the things their uncle Brock, a former Jedi healer, shared about his beliefs that some Force users believed the Force was more than a skill or tool some were born with the ability to use, and finds Buf's words about how the Force gives back what it receives to resonate within her, making her ponder her own relationship to or with the Force and what she might be bringing into it and whether she should be more mindful of that than she often is.
After being silent for several moments, having found a place for what she has learned among her own beliefs and understandings, Yvaine, apparently ready for her next round of questioning, asks without warning or lead in, "So, since the original Mandalorian Knights were Jedi, do they view the Force like the Jedi, then pauses as she realizes that is a poor question give how even the Jedi have different views of the Force from what she understands, refining her question, Do they view it like an . . . entity that guides them? Or is it more like you said where it has a . . . flow that they try to sense and use to guide their actions? Did you decide yourself to leave war behind, or did you feel like the Force was guiding you to leave it behind? Did being in war ever make you feel like . . ."
"Yvaine. . . " Faina gently prompts her youngest daughter as she passes her three question limit.
Smiling bashfully, Yvaine tells Buf, "Oops. Sorry."
