*As her daddy took her shoes, she prepared to turn away after waiting for him to say something else. But what he said was obvious teasing, saying she didn't just prefer bare feet. Part of her wanted to act affronted, but suddenly she had a mischievous smile of her own and put her hands on her hips.* Yeah, you're right, Daddy. Would you take the rest of my clothes too? *She started to remove her shirt, then instantly pulled it back down, beaming and giggling as she retreated a step and shook her head.* Just kidding! I'll see you later, Daddy! Love you! Bye! *She waved, waiting for her father to also say goodbye before turning to Rush and gesturing for him to stand up, sending a soft command through their bond as she did so. He did as directed, and she climbed up onto his back, Lokay climbing up onto her shoulder when she settled herself. She smiled one last time at her father before giving Rush both verbal and mental commands to head into the jungle. They disappeared into the flora, heading on another little excursion into the jungle...*

*Aerandir half-expected Morgan to act affronted and make some sort of retort to his truthful accusation, but instead she played along, and for a moment he almost seriously expected her to just hand him all of her clothes. He was about to stop her, of course, when she stopped herself, laughing and grinning as she announced she was only kidding. After saying "bye" and that she loved him, she waved and ran off to Rush, as Aerandir smiled and laughed to himself, waving back at her.* Bye Morgan, love you too! *He watched her interact with Rush, using both gestures and verbal commands to give him instructions, and he could sense that there was a mental connection between both of them as well that she was no doubt using to their advantage. When she smiled at Aerandir, he smiled back, watching as the akk dog trotted off into the jungle, taking Morgan with her.
Oh Morgan. She loved the jungle so much. It was a beautiful relationship, one Morgan had made without realizing it and then cherished dearly. "Mommy," she called the planet. She'd readily accepted it as her mother, having lacked one for so long. Even when she'd found a human mother in Kory, Morgan still saw the planet as her mother. He wished he could know just what that relationship was like, but then it wouldn't be unique. He was content to let her have that time with her mother, and he could instead focus on being her father.
He turned back toward the base, allowing himself to chuckle and shake his head at a thought, then returned into the base.*

Before he knew it, Mark found himself deep within the Felucian jungles... lost. He was beginning to regret running out of the base like that... his head still hurt too... but he panicked! He couldn't help it. Regardless this was no place to be roaming alone. Oddly enough, he didn't feel alone. Almost as if he was sensing... a presence. Getting stronger as well. He was always able to do this, but he never understood why or how. He continued to walk, but more and more slowly...
"Wh... who's there?"
He asked, gripping his hardwood stick as he asked the question... the only weapon he had, with a round emerald green stone on the top of it. He took it everywhere he went.

*She was such a child. The moment she'd gotten a short distance into the jungle, Morgan had stopped Rush, undressed, stuffed her clothes into her backpack, and climbed back up onto his back to continue her journey. Sure, she'd rationalized the idea that the human body was not something to be ashamed of and shouldn't have to hide... but it also felt awesome when the wind breezed across her bare skin as Rush darted through the jungle.
But then she came to the realization that she wasn't alone out here. There was another presence... and they were headed straight for it. With a soft gasp, Morgan sent a silent command to Rush to slow down and investigate as she also extended her senses to see who else was out there. It was a young presence, not quite as young as herself though... closer to Michelle's age. She didn't recognize the presence, though. It couldn't be a malicious presence.
Relying both on Rush and the jungle to protect her should she be wrong, she gently tapped her heels against Rush's side as though he were a horse as she mentally nudged him forward, into the open. There was a boy there, with a staff. He was dressed like a Jedi. Forgetting her current situation, she slid off of Rush's back, taking a step forward with a smile.* Hey there! You're kind of far out in the jungle on your own. Do you know your way around? I didn't know any other kids came out into the jungle. *It truly was a surprise for her; kids didn't just come into the Felucian jungle on their own. She was a bit of an exception, having bonded with the world and could manipulate nature itself if she needed to, but for other children, it was usually deemed too dangerous without some sort of escort. Now that she looked at him... he didn't seem too bad, but she noticed a couple of very minor injuries here and there. From trying to navigate his way through? With a grin, she jokingly called him an amateur in her thoughts. She didn't brag, but she definitely was proud of her prowess in navigating the jungle.*

Mark gave a start at first when he saw the akk dog approaching him, but noticed that it was not coming after him as it was slowing down. He noticed the girl riding the dog as though it were a mount of some sort. He realized he was with friendly company as she approached him and spoke to him, asking if he knew his way around, which he certainly didn't. He relaxed his grip on his stick.
"I... I was in some base... Jedi, I think. I.. I got scared and ran away..."
Mark admitted. Normally he wouldn't admit such things so bluntly, but he was kind of in a desperate situation at the moment being out in the Felucian jungle completely lost.
"I have no idea where I am..."
Again he admitted. He noticed the girl's emerald green eyes... very similar to his own eyes, whom he shared with his father. His thoughts went back to when he spent time with his father long ago, for a moment, before the pain in his head brought him back to the present. He winced a bit.
"Sorry, I'm really lost... and confused."
He then blinked, as his head pounded again... only to realize for the first time that the girl was completely naked. He backed up a bit, noticing the scars on her chest, and stammered... shocked, but still dazed from his head hurting.
"Oh... I... I'm sorry... I didn't mean to..."
He didn't really know what to say. He was a bit taken aback by it, and he was still confused, and scared from the experience in the medical facilities, and his head was still throbbing.

*As soon as the boy uttered the words "some base," Morgan tilted her head to the side and considered two possibilities: One, he wasn't from around here after all, or two, he was indeed a resident of Felucia, but hadn't been to the base before. But she let him keep speaking, but all he had to say was that he ran away because he was scared, and now he was lost and confused. Smiling, Morgan took another step forward.* Well that's— *As she stepped forward, she didn't have time to register the expression she made. Then her words were cut over when he stammered and apologized, though the rest of his apology trailed off. She stopped and frowned. What was he sorry for? She followed his gaze and— Oh. That's right. Well, this was embarrassing. Not so much for her, but for him. Normally she would have just ignored his apparent averse reaction, but considering his current state, she felt it was better if she didn't. Unlooping the straps of her backpack, she held it in front of her, then smiled without any trace of embarrassment.* Sorry, I'm used to going around naked out here. One sec. *She started to turn, then stopped and instead walked backwards until she was behind Rush, then slipped back into her clothes—except her shoes, of course, as she'd left those with her father—and reappeared beside the akk, again smiling at the boy, thumbs beneath the straps of her backpack.* So, you're not from around here, are you? My name's Morgan, this is my akk dog Rush, and this is Lokay. *She indicated the black and red tailring on her shoulder, who'd always been there but the poor little guy often goes unmentioned despite how awesome he is.* I live at the base! I can take you back if you need me to.

Mark waited for her to get dressed, trying not to seem as shocked as he was. Moreover, he was surprised at how well she seemed to know the jungles.
"I.. it's ok. I didn't know"
When she emerged from behind the akk dog, she introduced herself, and her friends. Mark forced a smile, although his head was throbbing quite a bit, so it probably seemed more like a grimace.
"I'm Mark. I'm not from here at all."
He said before he had to sit down. His headache was starting to get to him.
"S... sorry... my head hurts... I think it's from when the ship crashed..."
Why did he mention the ship crashing? Now she was going to wonder why he left the base where he should have been getting treatment, which he was, before he ran away. He wasn't thinking clearly, obviously. But she had mentioned that she lived at the base, and then he remembered, he had seen her before he went into the medical facilities while he was at the base. He really didn't want to go back to the medical facilities right now though, even though his head was giving him trouble.
"I just... don't want to go back to that doctors room..."
Mark admitted. The commotion going on in there had reminded him of past traumas he had experienced witnessing some of the wars his father had fought in before he was ported into the now.

*Mark was his name, and he confirmed that he wasn't from around here. Then he revealed that he'd been on a crashed ship and Morgan's eyes widened in surprise, not because he'd crashed here, but because he ran away from doctors into the jungle after he'd crashed. And didn't even know the jungle! Even though he said he didn't want to go back to the medical facilities, she shook her head and took another step forward, Rush also taking a couple steps forward to stay by her side.* Mark, you have to go back! The jungle is way too dangerous to be in on your own, especially if you're hurt! *Glancing sideways at the akk dog, she stepped closer to him and put her arms around his neck.* Here, just, just let Rush take your scent so he'll know who you are, then get on his back. That way you don't have to walk back to the base. *She was getting ahead of herself. She was trying to help, yes, but maybe she should have found out why he ran away in the first place. She definitely couldn't guess on her own, other than maybe he was just afraid of doctors, which was something he'd just have to get over. Unless... there was something else happening? She frowned, then released Rush's neck, but kept one palm pressed against his red, scaly hide.* ... why did you run away?

Mark cringed at the idea of letting Rush take him back to the medical facilities so soon, but it probably seemed evident that he didn't like that idea so much, as Morgan eventually backed down. And then she asked the question. Why did he run away? It was a reasonable question, of course, but the answer... the full answer... was complicated. A lot more complicated than just being scared. He was scared for a reason.
"It... reminded me of... bad things... My dad used to fight in this war. We were all caught in it... that's why he took me out. He brought me to this place... this, galaxy... no it's... the same galaxy... I don't know, he... moved me somehow. Away from the war."
Mark didn't quite understand what his father had done but in truth, he had somehow moved him from an alternate dimension that was going through a harsh war.
"There were a lot of people sick and hurt in that room, in the base. It... reminded me... of the war before my dad brought me here... I... haven't seen him since..."
Mark trailed off at that thought, his mind dwelling on his parents. He hadn't seen them in a very long time. He had no idea where they were, or even if they were alive. He exhaled deeply and lay down gently on the ground next to Rush. For the first time in a long time, he felt like he was in good company. With people he could trust.

*Mark's explanation made sense at first, and it caused Morgan to frown sympathetically. She could relate, having been involved in or a victim of some war or battle throughout her life. But then he confused her, talking about this galaxy as though it were different, but the same. She tilted her head to the side, trying to consider what he was trying to say as he laid down on the ground. Surely he wasn't from an alternate dimension? Still though, Morgan now understood why Mark was afraid of the medical facilities, but strangely, she only smiled as she sat down next to him.* It's okay, Mark. I've seen a lot of wars, too. I've seen hurt people, and been hurt myself... *Morgan's gaze drifted away and her expression went blank for a moment as the scars on her chest burned. She clutched at them, only finding herself grabbing a fistful of shirt, and gasped softly, then relaxed. She let her hand fall to her side, and she smile and continued like nothing happened.* But it'll be okay. Those people are just there to help you and everyone else feel better. You don't have to feel afraid. *She wasn't sure if he could be so easily swayed, but it was worth the shot. She wanted to help him after all, and if he was still injured, well, he needed to get better. She couldn't help; best she could do would be to recommend some native plants that could act as bandages or stave off bacterial infection, but she didn't have any healing abilities. Maybe she should ask her father to teach her some next time she thought of it...*

Mark knew deep down that Morgan, was indeed, right. The people in the medical facilities were just trying to help him and everyone else there. The reason he ran away was more of a gut panic reaction based on triggered memories of past traumas. He was too young to comprehend all of that, but he knew that there was no war going on at the base. But why then does he still feel uneasy about going back? He let out a long deep sigh.
"I... yeah... you're right. I just... don't know why it reminded me..."
Mark thought for a moment, deciding if he was really willing to go back just yet... he was still a bit shaken up by all the emotions and the panic. He finally decided.
"I'll... I'll go back. But not just yet. And... when I do, I don't want to be alone..."
He admitted, but didn't feel any shame in doing so. Because he felt like he could trust Morgan and her friends. He felt like he didn't need to be ashamed, for the first time in a long time.

*When Mark admitted that she was right, Morgan smiled, not out of pride but because she was happy he'd accepted that truth. Then he announced he would go back, but not yet, and not alone. Morgan frowned this time, watching him as he continued to lay there. Well... what now, then?* So... why don't you want to go back yet? *Morgan would normally have been suggesting what to her were the myriad ways of spending time out in the jungle, but the fact that Mark was injured to a degree she didn't know and his head hurt made her hesitant and unsure. She didn't want to take anyone injured on a tour of the jungle; it just didn't seem like a good idea. She had Rush, yes, but she also didn't want to risk Mark getting any further injuries. Or not be able to enjoy it because of a headache...*

Mark thought for a minute... knowing there was a reason why he wasn't ready yet, but he didn't know how to put it into words. Of course, he was still a bit distraught from the experience he just ran away from, so facing it again so soon seemed scary to him. He knew he had to do it, but he had to muster up the courage first. But there was something else... he felt... at peace here. The fact that he was with company that he felt he could trust... that was huge for him. He wasn't used to that. He had always been uneasy with people because of his past, but there was no such uneasiness here.
"I don't want to go yet because... I've never really had a friend before... but now I feel like I do."
Mark tried to explain as best and simply as he could. He couldn't fully understand his willingness to trust Morgan, but, it was there. And so he spoke his mind.

*Morgan tilted her head to the side at first when he gave his reason. He didn't want to go back because he felt like he had a friend now? What was an odd reason— Oh! He was talking about her! Morgan couldn't exactly say she could call Mark a "friend" quite yet, since they'd only just met and Morgan wanted to know more about a person before she could call them a friend. But she smiled anyway, not wanting to say so and hurt his feelings.
But now what? Even if she, like him, could call someone a friend so quickly, she wasn't sure what to do. Maybe get to know him better? Yeah, that would probably be a good idea. He mentioned his dad... was he still around? And if he wasn't... well, that would make this first question awkward, but she didn't know what else to start with, so...* So, where's your dad now?
|

Where was his dad now? Oh, that was a question Mark asked himself over and over and over again... and oh how he wished he knew. He hadn't seen his father since he brought him here, and that was years ago. Mark sat up a little, his head feeling a little bit better at the moment.
"I... I don't know. I haven't seen him since he brought me here. He said he had to go back, and I'd be safer here. He told my mom to take care of me... but..."
Mark sighed.
"She didn't. And I haven't seen Mom in years. And when I did, she didn't care... I don't know where she is either."
Mark had an obvious hurt look in his eyes when he talked about his mom. He was way too young at the time to understand the trauma that his mother was going through... she was so surprised... and so young... and so tormented... there was no way she could have taken care of him. But he was practically five when that happened, and he was still only ten now. How was he supposed to understand why his own mother couldn't take care of him?

*Mark was finally sitting up a little, and Morgan's smile grew a little, glad he had the strength to do so. But her smile gave way to another frown when he revealed that his father had gone back, leaving Mark to his mother. And her frown deepened when she learned Mark's mother neither took care of him nor, if she understood Mark right, seemed to care about him at all. In fact, he hadn't seen her in years—
The implications of that hit her. If he hadn't seen his mom in years, then he hadn't seen his father in years, either. Where had he been? How had he gotten to Felucia? She wanted to ask, but when she saw his eyes and the pain within, she balked. Maybe things were too painful to talk about now. So what did she talk about? This was tough. Then she decided that she had to know something about his presence here, but she had to keep it discreet.* Do you have anywhere to stay, or someone to take care of you?

Mark shook his head. It had been a while since he had any particular person taking care of him. He had hopped around for a while, from place to place, but, he couldn't quite put his finger on why. It would probably come back to him eventually, once his head was doing better.
"No. It's been a long time."
Mark said with a shrug. Though he was here now, and honestly, he felt at ease.

*Mark shook his head and said he had neither a place to stay nor someone looking after him. Morgan frowned, but she knew how she had to ask how he got here, or else she wouldn't know what to do or offer him.* How did you get here? Who sent here? Do you know anyone at all that you could find and talk to? *There had to be someone. How could he have no one else? He crashed here in a ship... Who did that ship belong to? How did he get in it? These were the burning questions, these would reveal more about this mysterious boy, who may have been suggesting he came from an alternate universe. It wouldn't have been the strangest thing she'd ever heard of, true, but it would still be quite surprising if it were true...*

Mark thought for a moment... that was a tricky question to answer. He didn't really have anyone in particular. He had some help from various people along the way, but he never stuck to any one group. And with his last experience he wasn't so lucky.
"I don't have anyone... no. I've been looking for Mom. I heard some people say they were coming here, so I snuck on their ship. I didn't know they were gonna crash..."
For some reason, when Mark overheard the smugglers mention Felucia, he felt led to go there. He didn't know they were smugglers, of course. He just sneaked aboard.
"But for some reason I like it here... I don't want to leave. And I can feel when some people are close. Like... I knew you were near before I saw you. It was weird."
This feeling was not completely new to him, but he sensed it much more here on Felucia than anywhere he had ever been before in his life. The only other times he ever sensed this was when he was near his parents. He didn't know what it was, or how to explain it.

*No one? And he was still looking for his mother? Morgan frowned. He was not only lost, then, but alone. Now Morgan had no clue what to do; best idea she had was to go back to her father with Mark and ask him to find a place for the boy to stay, and put him into classes, or at least learn what they could about his mother so they could find her.
When Mark revealed he'd gotten here by sneaking onto someone's ship, Morgan blushed a little, recalling how she'd done that... twice... accidentally... then she frowned. She thought she could free her mind and not think about what had just happened, but the topic of stowing away on someone's ship was starting to bring it all back. She shut her eyes tight, inadvertently baring her teeth and shaking her head once, then held her eyes shut until the thought passed.
Opening her eyes, she knew that must have been an odd gesture, but she only stared expressionless at Mark. But she finally smiled again when he revealed he liked it here; that always made Morgan happy, to hear someone else say they liked the world she loved so much. When he said he was able to sense her coming, she was briefly confused; she thought that ability was simple and everyone who touched the Force could do that. But she still only smiled.* I'm glad you like it here! I love this place so much. It's dangerous, but that's not a problem to me, because Felucia is my mommy! *Oh boy. She got to explain this to a kid this time, instead of an adult. A kid that was older than her, sure, but sometimes adults had difficulty grasping the concept, so would Mark grasp it? Well, no telling until she tried...* You see, the first day I came here, I opened myself up in the Force to the planet somehow, and we kinda linked together. A Felucian told me about this, and how they said the planet was like their mother, and I didn't have one, so she became my mommy, and one time— *Slowly, a hand reached to her chest again. Better leave that story about Psallo and the attack for another time... She could glance over it with a vague alternative.* One time I got closer to her, and she even showed up, and gave me new powers, so I'm even stronger when I'm in the jungle, and can talk to Felucians, and even control animals! Well, not big ones yet, but I'm working on that. *There. She kind of dumbed it down a little, whereas often she would give the full story, uncensored. ... maybe that was why some people seemed to have a hard time understanding it, because she made it harder to understand. By accident, of course. She should try dumbing things down more often, and explain them in more detail when asked to or if the moment was right...*
