*Completely missed the point, of course. Typical of Sith, after all. However, following the rebuttal—and even slightly before it—a strange thing occurred, as though the Zabrak was suddenly in some sort of pain. No pain Aerandir had inflicted for certain; his strike had plainly missed. It was immediately followed by wild swinging; if there was ever an opportunity, it was now. He took a step backward and alternated between parrying and dodging the blades, analyzing their movements and awaiting just the right moment. When he perceived the imminent opening for a quick stabbing strike at the Zabrak's right knee, he took it.* The wild swinging, the undisciplined movements and the searing pain within his skull. All of it was a side effect of his Force-Walking ritual that had taken place on Iridonia nearly a year ago now. Six force ghosts had been forcibly bound to him. And since then, he's used their combined power to build up the Blackguard into what it was. But the price of such power was evident. He was beginning to lose control of his mind... And this was merely the beginning. It would deteriorate much more before finally killing him, provided he didn't manage to get himself killed before that. Though he knew the risks. And in hunting down his father, he used the power for his own gain. Much to their dismay. And it clearly showed. As the strike to his knee came, the Zabrak managed a moment of clarity to deflect the blade...though not perfectly. The Jedi's blade seared the flesh on the inside of his right knee as it passed by. The smell of singed cloth and sizzling flesh greeted his senses, as did the white hot pain of the fresh wound. Jarring him back to his senses, the Zabrak roared angrily in pain and loosed a sudden, uncontrolled burst of Force energy, shoving anything near him backwards...

Patience is a valuable skill to strengthen.Cao's hands tightened around the Sith's gauntleted fingers, but it seemed he wasn't even trying to pry them apart. True, he was grateful for the lack of additional pressure, and the darkness had proved a useful distraction, but he needed a plan. An idea. Anything."You're-.." Silence. For once in your life, stay your tongue.Really??The darkness swirled again, turning away from the light looking inward, and turned its attention wholly outside. The inevitable has come for me time and again. But not today. Today, I finally leave this festering hellhole of light-side do-gooders.Cao grinned, then frowned almost immediately after. Where had that..Oh no.I think you can help me with that. Sensing the swirling darkness within the young man, Akrak's grip loosened slightly, but did not release the Jedi currently in his grasp. Beneath his mask, the scarred human grinned."I sense much confusion in you...you are conflicted...distracted, divided. And that weakens you. There is a darkness in you. A darkness that could feed your potential and grant you unimaginable power, if you let it..."Perhaps he could turn this Jedi? With the amount of conflict within him, surely he wouldn't be difficult to turn. And if he wouldn't turn, then the alternative of slaughtering him was still on the table at the moment. But maybe, just maybe...

A cloaked figure walked with calm, slow footsteps back from the balcony. Wasn't there a ship there, to save those looking to escape? Perhaps a question that would be asked by those of calm mind within the hell that unraveled within the Jedi Base. Mariah was certain that very few could hold that ability. A Jedi Master, perhaps, but even then, the Jedi were slacking these days in training their young how to keep a cool and collected disposition within the fury of war. The future generation was almost laughable to the stories of the past. They were sprawling, failing in their futile attempts to push back their attackers, and with a bomb somewhere within, she knew it was only a matter of time before victory would be claimed.
With a deep breath, she felt out behind her for a presence she had hoped would follow. However, Mark had made his decision of the opposite, to train among those she despised and considered weak. For what it was worth, she wasn't surprised. It was the same decision as his mother once did. The question now was would she pursue him as persistently as she did Aria. A bitter laugh exhaled from the woman as she picked up her pace through the corridors. Perhaps she would. Perhaps not. The wheel of time had turned again, repeating the actions of another moment, and she knew what would next come to pass. Only now, she refused to fall victim to its course. She would choose. She would be in control as to those she would settle among: those who achieved that which she sought all those years, these Sith that brought the destruction she dreamed to this Base.
She had no desire to join the Sith, but the enemy of her enemy would be her ally. No doubt, when she reached Nar Shaddaa again, the stories would be passed through shadowed whispers of this feat -- the fall of the Felucian Jedi Base. Her connections would lead her to them, in time. All she needed to ensure was that she stayed alive and not get caught up in the blast. Without a weapon exposed, she would be of no concern to the Jedi. That is, if they still held to such teachings. The Sith, though...? Unpredictable. Regardless, her ability to maintain that hazy cloak over her form and aura was nearly expended. She had no other choice if she wanted to get out without issue.
With a growl, Mariah rushed through the Base to find the same hole that provided her entrance into this warzone; however now, the dark side flowed through her every movement, leaving a chilling wake within the Force behind her. She felt eyes upon her as those who were Force-Sensitive, as that realization washed over them of this disturbance. She heard shouts from behind, but she only continued to move, away from the chaos, away from the battle. This was not her war to fight nor her victory to claim part in, as much as she would have gladly offered her blade to them here and now. Make it outside the base. That was her mission. Make it to her ship. Ride out the storm and make it off this damned planet she continued to swear she'd never return to time and time again.
Today, she achieved what she came for. Nothing more. Nothing less. Tomorrow, she would begin her journey to locate these Sith she planned to call her unfortunate allies.

The fight between the Sith'ari and the Jedi Grandmaster had been one of the most grueling duels he had ever participated in, if he were to be honest. Though, he was at a bit of a disadvantage. Due to Force Walking on Iridonia, he was slowly starting to lose control of all of his powers. Something that needed to be rectified lest everything he had set out to accomplish be all for naught. Injured and exhausted, the Sith had managed to disengage from the Grandmaster by using the environment to his advantage. The crumbling entrance had given the opportunity to impede the Grandmaster's advance. Pulling large stone blocks from the ceiling and walls, the Zabrak had managed to collapse a section of the entrance and allowed him the opportunity to escape. Pushing through the pain, the Zabrak limped his way to the exit, while Rampant, his A.I, chimed in his ear.
My lord, the bomb in the hangars is problematic. If we wish to vacate the premises before it detonates, we should evacuate our forces now. The storm conjured by Malvus is dissipating and destabilizing. It will not provide cover for our retreat much longer.
Through gritted teeth, the Zabrak replied.
"Understood. Signal the retreat. We've made our point here and managed to sack the base. Have Petrovsky be ready to meet up in low orbit."
Acknowledging the order, the A.I opened an encrypted channel with all Blackguard forces in the area.
All Blackguard forces, pull back. The Sith'ari is signalling the retreat. I repeat, all Blackguard forces, fall back to the LZ. Priority Alpha.
And so, the raid on Felucia was nearly concluded. Information had been stolen, the Base had been ransacked and wrecked. And to top it all off, there was a large bomb in the hangars, ready to reduce this place to a smoking pile of rubble. While not able to route the Jedi, it was still largely successful, and it proved what the Blackguard was capable of.

Falling back the way they came, she kept in close step with Malvus, at least until they exited the building. The moment they were free, she changed direction, moving towards her previous battleground. Still lying there among the fallen Jedi Brutes were their weapons. Ever since Vandelhelm she had begun collecting trophies from her fallen enemies and this would be no different. Grabbing two of the saberstaves, she quickly made her way to regroup with the others to be extracted.

His encounter with a young Jedi had been...intriguing, to say the least. Perhaps something would come of it, or perhaps not. At this point, it mattered not.
Escaping from the service corridors and into the main hallways, the armored Sith had encountered a few soldiers and one or two support staff. All had been mercilessly cut down as he made his escape. Knowing that when the Sith'ari's A.I had pinged them to retreat, it meant move your ass or die, Akrak had no intentions of dying on this world. Moving as fast as he could muster, the Sith tucked his head down and plowed into the crumbling stone wall before him. bursting through to the other side...

Pulling himself onto one of the waiting AAL's, the Sith'ari slumped into one of the seats along the side of the passenger bay, panting slightly. He was drenched to his core from the rain. Both of his hearts were pounding within his chest and his knee was throbbing in pain with each pulse of his heart. And still, the Sith was conscious and able to press forward, at least for the time being. Sith Troopers had managed to set up a defensive barricade near the LZ, allowing for the Blackguard Forces to withdraw from the engagement zone with minimal harassment from the Jedi and their soldiers and security forces. Comm chatter was near constant at this point as the Blackguard forces surged back to the LZ in the torrential downpour of rain. Though the ferocity and intensity of the storm conjured by Malvus had lessened, it was still raining heavily. Soon they would be off this planet and back in Blackguard space, then they could relax...

Gathering himself up, the armored Sith retreated with the Sith Troopers that were falling back to the primary LZ. Lightsaber in hand, the Sith deflected shots aimed in his direction. Keeping the pressure off of the Blackguard's troops while they retreated was important, as they had the reach that a Force user generally didn't. His muscles ached and burned from the strain, but he kept pushing himself. He did not want to be here once that bomb went off...

*The battle had been devastating to the base, but not only superficially. All things considered, the Jedi had managed to prevent major loss of life in the defense. Whether it was due to their own ability, or due to the Sith merely wanting to send a message, was another matter. They had no time to dwell on it, however, and immediately assessed the damage. After some consideration, concerning the extent of the damage as well as the original purpose of the base, it was decided that they would instead build something new, while restoring the base to its original purpose.
Basic patchwork was done to the base first, restoring it to a working condition, and they would continue to use it as a home while construction began on a new, dedicated Jedi Temple. Upon completion, restoration efforts for the old base began in earnest, stripping out any features dedicated to Jedi training and accommodations so that they could be returned to their purpose as a military establishment. The Jedi aided in this endeavor, however left any rebuild plans to military personnel so that they could customize the establishment to their liking.
Thus, the former Jedi Base was returned to its original function as a military base established many years ago by Commander Belac.*

[ Gwyn | Cockpit | Morninglord-class light defender (unnamed) | Hangar | Military Base | Felucia ] Attn: Jair CrawfordGwyn had little trouble landing the ship, as before, but she definitely felt perplexed by the vessel.
“I...think this ship is...very advanced...or alive,” she said once she powered down, “The ship opened a comm channel to the surface below just before I even touched the comlink, you saw that. It almost felt eager...and I'm not very good at flying yet, but this ship seemed to...operate on its own at times.”

"Odd for sure... almost like it knew this was precisely where I was intending to go next..." Jair explained, a bit surprised by this, as he got up and got the essential things he needed.
"This used to be the Jedi base, before the raid. The Force is calling me here specifically, for a reason..." He explained.

It was stated as fact. After all, the base hangar operator knew Jair personally. She too rose from her seat. Lacking anything better to do.
“I would like to accompany you...will your droid be coming along?”

"You are more than welcome to accompany me." Jair looked over toward where the hangar bay was.
"Oh! Well, R9 kind of does his own thing. He tags along when he wants. He stays behind when he wants. He's well programed and does self maintenance so I don't worry too much." He explained.

“When was the last time you gave him an oil bath?”

"Oh... um... that's a good question... let me find out."
Jair pulled out a personal hand held com device he kept on him. R9, when was the last time you had an oil bath? A few beeps and whirs could be heard in response, before Jair nodded satisfactorily.
"Two weeks ago. He is overdue, but I've been gone away from the Jedi Temple since then. At the Temple, he is programmed to go to the oil baths at regularly scheduled intervals. The R9 units have very good self maintenance programmed in."

“Tell him that there's a droid maintenance bay on Deck Two, and there's a oil bath with his name on it. The service droids there will make him feel good as new.”
She stood attentively at the boarding ramp, allowing him to disembark first, and she would follow behind him, nearly six steps behind.

Alright R9, if you want an oil bath, you're cleared to go to the maintenance bay on Deck Two. Cautious whirring could be heard on the other end. Yes, R9, I made sure to get permission from the owner. Otherwise I would not have told you that you were cleared. Happy chirping and excited beeping could now be heard on the other end. Jair smirked. "He's gonna love that."
When Gwyn showed him to the boarding ramp, she allowed him to then take over and lead the way, which he did.
"The old gardens... if they still exist... is where we want to go..."

[ Gwyn | Hangar | Military Base | Felucia ] Attn: Jair CrawfordGwyn trailed after Jair, and soon found herself scampering to keep up. Evidently she was used to walking very slowly compared to Jair, and she was now trying to remain apace. While they were inside the base, Gwyn could yet see a lot of the planet's flora and fauna all around. Felucia's terrain was very rich in browns, and blues and purples. The ground and rocks were mostly tan and dark brown in colour, but the mushrooms were gigantic, and very rich vibrant blue. She also thought she saw a gigantic bipedal creature in the distance, yet due to its size, was still easily visible to her. She gasped, and quickly moved to walk beside Jair, no longer wanting to be far from protection.
“How long has this place been in existence?” asked Gwyn, “you speak of things like they happened a long time ago, yet you are surely not so old...”

Jair didn't have any difficulty getting into the base. The commanders there trusted him, and recognized him. Gwyn might have been surprised that they did not ask either of them any questions regarding why she was there or what she was doing there. The military on Felucia trusted Jair enough to know he was not going to bring anyone problematic into the base. Besides, they were not going to be going into any restricted areas. As they entered, Jair pondered her question.
"The base itself? It's been here for a long time. I'm not even sure how long, exactly. But under its current state, ten years. The raid on the Jedi Base was ten years ago, and after the Sith were repelled, we decided to build a new Temple." Jair explained as he casually led her to the place where the old gardens would have been. A lot of things had been changed, and updated, but surprisingly much of the foundational blueprints were still the same, so it was easy for him to navigate from memory.
"It's actually a bit odd because, my memory goes fuzzy right before that raid happened. I know I am missing a lot of memories from right before that event... and clearly going back, my memories of a... specific person have somehow been compromised..." Jair's tone became wistful, and longing, with the last part of his explanation. They also reached an open courtyard.
"This is it. This is where the gardens used to be."
It was a fairly simple courtyard now. The distinctive plants that once adorned this place had all been transplanted to the new Jedi Temple.

[ Gwyn | Open Courtyard (Former Gardens) | Military Base | Felucia ] Attn: Jair CrawfordGwyn paused and stood still. She had hopes that there was still a pretty garden to admire, but that was not what she got. For the first time, Jair got to see disappointment and even annoyance on Gwyn's countenance. The redhead, knelt down, pressing her palm to the ground.
“There is no grass here,” she whispered, “such a shame. What garden is a garden without grass?”
Sighing, she ignored her feelings and glanced at Jair, “What will you do now?”
