Despite everything that had happened that day, Fiora was much too excited about the movie to let herself doze off. As her younger sister and step-mother each dozed off, she curled her legs up on the couch beneath herself and cuddled gently against Faina's other side. Her focus fell solely upon the movie, zoning out all other matters as the movie and the story it was weaving filled her thoughts. She almost forgot Remus was still awake as the scene between Petra and Cavra came on. The dialogue and general emotion of the scene was the same as that of the book, but the content was certainly censored for the films rating. Camera angles kept the viewers imagination to fill in the blanks.
But suddenly she was pulled back to reality as Remus spoke up, her cheeks almost a bright red with blush as she remembered her own moment like this with Jin. But thankfully the darkened state of the room would have made it difficult, if not impossible, for Remus to see. She stifled a cough, trying to regain some composure as Remus spoke on, asking for her thoughts and making mention of the casting of Petra. A playful smirk forming on her lips then Oh, is that so little brother? Petra of Arcsea? I should have known you would have a crush on her... A whispered chuckle escaped her then, as she tried to not awaken their sleeping relatives. Petra certainly had quite the fan base of followers of various ages and sexes, with a widely varied content of fan art. Fiora turned her focus back to the screen The casting has been amazing. I heard the actor for Durzan had campaigned aggressively to get the role and get the movie made. It's impressively well adapted. They definitely left out some earlier stuff, but the story beats were still largely kept in, just changed a little.

Remus, rolling his eyes when Fiora says she should have known he would have a crush on Petra of Arcsea, dryly points out, "It is possible, you know, to find a character admirable without having a crush on them. She is strong, independent, smart, charismatic and witty, what is not to like? Waving his hand at her as the scene between Petra and Cavra ends and gives way to a pivotal, exciting scene between Durzan of Kaveldun, the titular Defender of the Night, and his nemesis, Remus says, Now hush, I want to see how well they get this next scene."
One hour and forty five minutes later . . .
Yawning and stretching her arms over her head, Yvaine smiles sleepily as she snuggles back up between Fifi and their mum again, guessing from the way that Remmy and Fifi are chattering excitedly together that the movie she apparently mostly slept through that they are both happy with how the book was translated to the screen. When there is a break in the nerd speak, Yvaine asks, "So, was it everything you both hoped for?"
Remmy, almost immediately making Yvaine wish she hadn't asked the question, starts talking in nerd again, telling her how perfect the casting was, how amazingly well the sets and costumes managed to be both faithful to the source material and to look lived in, and how richly the holovid explored the themes of the book given only dialogue and action were used to covey things that the book had narration to express.
Yvaine, laughing when Remus finally takes a breath, says, "Wow, now I wish I stayed awake for the whole thing, then asks Fifi, What did you think, sis'?"

Ahuh, sure little brother... Totally didn't just prove my point... She let out a chuckle, before acquiescing as Remus decided he no longer liked the direction of their conversation any longer. Not that she could blame him, she was none to eager to address the topic he had brought up earlier about character comparisons to Jin.
When the movie ended, Fiora barely moved as Yvaine expectedly awoke and snuggled back into place. Her hand moving to gently stroke through Evvy's hair, her conversation with Remus broken only by Yvaine's interjection which set their brother off on a passionate tangent. One which Fiora was all too happy let run to its conclusion with Yvaine expressing regret about having fallen asleep. Fiora offered up a small reassuring smile We can always rewatch it when it's not late at night, so your poor little eyes can stay open Evvy... She reached up a hand and teasingly squeezed one of Yvaine's cheeks It has ruined every other book to movie adaptation ever for me... It was quite fantastic, as Remmy has explained. Hopefully they can do the next two movies justice. Maybe they'll do a two-parter finale, once the book is finally finished of course.... Just sad you slept through most of it, ah well... I can also lend you my copy so you can watch it.

Yvaine yawns widely as she nods after Fifi says they could try watching the movie another time, starting earlier, adding her own suggestion, "And not after such a big meal, explaining, Food coma. Smiling as her sister adds her own endorsement to Remmy's, and adds her hopes for the next two holofilms being on par with the one they just watched - in its entirety in Remmy and Fifi's case, while Yvaine cannot be sure just how much of it she and her Mum made it through - Yvaine nods cheerily, albeit drowsily, when Fifi offers the loan of her personal copy, That would be awesome, sis'! I will have to read it too, she says with another yawn, explaining sleepily, I always like the books better than the holovids."
Remus standing up and stretching before getting everyone's dishes from the dessert together to take to the kitchen, tells Yvaine, "You better go to bed before you fall asleep on the couch, then grins as he says, Since I'm doing the dishes, you can handle waking Mom up."
Moaning, Yvaine grumbles crankily, "Both of those things require moving, snuggling up closer to Fifi and giving her the cutest sad Ewok eyes ever as she begs, Do the hair thing again, pretty please?"
Remus shakes his head as he heads into the kitchen, telling Fiora, "Yeah, you're in charge of them now, good luck escaping from the couch before morning ."

Fiora gave a bit of an over dramatic expression as Yvaine mentioned reading the books I suppose I could lend my little sister the book as well, since I suspect Remmy will be inseparable with his own copy... She smiled then, letting her sleepy little sister know her actions had been merely for show and a little fun. Remus then started to make his own escape by taking the dishes from dessert and cleaning them, exclaiming that Yvaine and Faina were now her responsibility Mark my words little Remmy... But her words were cut off as Yvaine grumbled and snuggled up closer to her, putting on the cutest sad Ewok eyes she had seen in a long time. She let out a defeated sigh and ran her hand through her sisters blonde locks How could I ever possible say no to that... Her gaze drifted over to Faina, who seemed quite deep in sleep and did not show much sign of waking any time soon. She turned her head toward the kitchen then Make sure those leftovers are packed properly will you little brother?

Remus, putting the dishes and utensils in the sink and rinsing them off to put in the dishwasher, laughs when he hears Fiora offering to let Yvaine borrow her copy Defender of the Night, warning their older sister, "You may as well just buy her a copy or get a new one for yourself, sis', explaining, I lent her my copy of The Descendant of Yesterday two years ago and still haven't got it back yet. If it isn't a science or psychology text, she reads at the pace of a sedated Kitonak. Oh, he says excitedly, you should treat yourself to a copy of the new annotated and illustrated version of Defender . . ."
"Neeeeerrrrdddds," Yvaine declares with a sleepy yawn, and then all but purrs as Fifi starts doing the hair thing after inevitably succumbing to the irresistible power of her sad Ewok eyes.
"Yes, yes, Remus tells Fiora as she tells him to handle the leftovers with care, then towels off his hands before rooting around in the cabinets to find containers for the leftovers, We wouldn't want Jin to miss out on Aunt Nicolina's cooking would we? Frowning as he sees that there are only a few Lalaren Blooms left, Remus asks, Jin wouldn't mind if we, meaning himself, keep the last of the Lalarens, would she?"

Hush you... She admonished Yvaine, whilst still massaging her little sisters hair, finding it to be the best way to keep her quiet. She looked thoughtfully into space and brought her free hand up to grasp her own chin I suppose I could justify the expense of a new copy for myself... Her thoughtful expression then gave way to a displeased look as she stared over at the kitchen and her little Brother Remus Delvardus, you better pack all of the leftovers or so help me... I will track down Kodo Kale and find out a spoiler for the end of Failure of Winter and ruin it for you! Sure, such a threat meant spoiling the very same thing for herself, but it would be a worthy price if Remus decided to keep the Lalarens for himself. She knew Jin would forget to eat whilst engrossed in her work, and bringing her leftovers was the best way to make sure her girlfriend actually ate. And it would be a shame to deny her any of Nicolina's hard work

Fiora will find that there is no need to hush Yvaine, the massaging of her younger sister, as suspected, accomplishing the hushing without the need for the additional verbal instruction.
Remus, a precious Lalaren already in his hand and heading towards his mouth, scowls when the hand's advance is halted by the threat from Fiora about spoiling the ending of Failure of Winter, looking at the tasty, tempting Lalaren as he considers dispatching it without admitting to it, asking himself softly as he stares at it covetously, "Yes, after all why not? Why shouldn't I eat it? Sighing and deciding it would be best not to court his older sister's wrath even if the threat about tracking down the reclusive author to try and wrest a spoiler from him is more than a little empty, Remus puts the Lalaren in a container with the rest of the few that remain, telling Fiora, Ok, fine. I just hope Jin appreciates the sacrifice I am making here tonight."
Faina, finally summoned from her slumber by the sound of Fiora calling Remus by his full name, rubs her eyes as she asks Fiora, "What did your younger brother do now?"
Protesting as he packs up the last of the leftovers, Remus calls out indignantly, "Nothing, Mom, I swear, emerging from the kitchen with the leftovers all neatly packed up for Jin. Setting the stack of containers on the table, Remus tells Fiora in a tone so mournful that what he says can only be true, They're all there, sis', promise."
Smiling as she sees that Yvaine has been lulled back to sleep by Fiora's massaging of her hair, Faina asks, "Do you need me to rescue you, my little Fee?"

You can rest assured Jin appreciates any and all sacrifices you make towards not expanding your waistline... She chuckled for a moment, before scowling a little as Faina wakes up from her slumber. She forces a smile, a little embarrassed about having ruined her own plan to have just carried both sleeping relatives to their own beds I was merely reminding him of the consequences of not being a good little brother is all. He has generously donated an ill advised midnight snack for Jin to have instead. Thank you Remmy... She maintained the smile as she directed that last comment to her younger brother. With Yvaine now back to sleep, Fiora scooped her younger sister up in her arms and stood up with ease I think I got this one just fine... Sorry for waking you, that... was not my intent... She carefully tread her way around the table and across the apartment space to where the sleeping quarters were. Managing to navigate to her sisters room and through the door without disturbing her sleep. Fiora used a small flick of her hand to cause the blankets and sheets to pull back, allowing her to set Yvaine gently down before pulling the covers back and giving her hair another brush as she whispered Sleep well Evvy... She pressed a kiss to Yvaine's forehead, before heading out of the room and closing the door behind her. She headed back to the living room to find Faina. She offered out a hand to her step-mother You should get to bed as well. A couch will not do your body any good...

Remus arches an eyebrow when his waistline is brought into the conversation, telling Fiora, "My waistline is just fine, I'll have you know. I have, like zero body fat," he boasts proudly.
Faina, looking amused, tells Remus, "That isn't a good thing, really. You could, she crinkles her nose, probably stand to gain a few pounds. More than a few in all honesty."
Remus, who has always been on the thin and gangly side, lifts his arms and flexes his muscles, grinning as he says, "Tell that to these guns."
Trying not to laugh too hard, Faina teases her youngest son, "They're more like twigs, honey. You're my cute little stick figure," she says with a smile.
Remus shrugs, well aware of his less than superhuman physique, then grins as he reaches for one of the containers on the table and says, "That being the case, maybe I should have those Lala. . ."
Shaking her head, Faina says, "Nice try, but those are Jin's Lalarens now, so hands off. As Remus sighs and heads off to his bedroom after telling Fiora goodnight, Faina waves Fiora's apology for waking her away, I should be thanking you, rubbing the back of her neck as she adds, I know my neck will." Smiling as she watches Fiora lifts Yvaine and carry her to bed, Faina's smile fades as the sight reminds of when Nicademus would carry their youngest daughter, who from as early as the age of two would always sneak out of her bedroom when Nicademus was kept away later than usual by his duties as Emperor to try and stay awake on the couch long enough to greet him when he returned only to inevitably fall asleep and need to be carried back to bed.
Taking Fiora's hand when her eldest daughter holds it out, Faina accepts the help up, her knees popping audibly and thereby proving Fiora's point about how much good sleeping on the couch is likely to do her body as she stands, telling Fiora, "You should get to bed now too, my little Fee. Giving Fiora a hug, she says, This was nice, referring to the evening, and smiling as she releases Fiora from the hug and kisses her forehead as she says, I'm just sorry I slept through so much of it. Booping the tip of Fiora's freckled nose, she asks playfully, Can you find it in your heart to forgive me? Reaching down to pick up the containers of leftovers for Jin, she puts an arm around Fiora's shoulders and says, Come on, I'll walk you to the door."

I'll do my best... She promised as Faina suggested she should also head for bed. She returned the hug that her step-mother pulled her into, blushing a little from the forehead kiss, before finally her nose crinkled and eyes squinted a little from the boop that followed it all. She snagged the containers from Faina in both hands and held them carefully, a mock expression of thought crossing her features at Faina's question I don't know... it was my favourite movie that you just slept through... Besides what blackmail would I have if I let you off so easy... A smile broke through it all then along with a laugh Of course you are forgiven. Me and Evvy achieved our goal tonight, and that's what's important... She walked with Faina toward the doors. Her adventure out into Coruscant's lower levels when she had been much younger had undoubtedly prompted the renovation works which gave her younger siblings rooms where they were Even if Octavian couldn't make it, the rest of us at least got to spend some time together...

Fiora's bit of theater involving the teasing mention of blackmail prior to the forgiveness of Faina's crime of having slept through some of her favorite movie earns her another boop on her freckled nose, but also results in Faina joining in her daughter's laughter, her own laughter genuine and, if only for a moment, giving Faina a reprieve from the tidal pull of her grief.
"I didn't, Faina protests, sleep through all of it, smiling in a self-deprecating way as she confesses, only, hmm, maybe half of it? Arching an eyebrow and indulging in her own bit of theater by trying to look aghast as she puts a hand over her heart when Fiora says that she and Yvaine had plotted together to make the evening happen, she says with a shake of her head, My own children plotting against me, how has it come to this? Her mirth fades a little when Fiora points out that Octavian had not been able to join them as well, and Faina sighs as she says, It is a shame he couldn't, I think we all needed a night like this together. A hopeful smile accompanies her next remark, Maybe we can try and get everyone together again before . . . she pauses, the tides of grief coming back in as what she was about to say, her smile more forced as she continues with a slight alteration to what she had intended to say to avoid mention of a subject they will all be made to confront in the coming days, before our duties call us away from one another once more."
Unable to resist the hug Fiora once more when she has had few enough opportunities to do so throughout the years following her eldest daughter's training with the Knights of Ren, Faina hugs her tight and tells her, "Goodnight, my little Fee," before letting her go and nodding towards her guards, waiting at either side of the door when she opens it, in a silent thanks for their diligence in seeing that Fiora is protected.

Yes, no I only slept through the important half where most of the story happens... Fiora teased after the second boop, risking her step-mothers wrath once more. She offered up a playful smile as Faina acted shocked about the revelation of her daughter's plotting against her Well, I mean... you raised a pair of troublemakers is the truth of it... As Faina suggested they could try and catch up again before their duties pull them away, Fiora did not have much hope to give. He smile fading and being replaced a more sombre expression I fear Octavian's duties are already doing as much... But fear not, we made sure he smiled at least once today as well, so... not a complete loss. She managed to carefully juggle the containers as Faina went in for another final hug Goodnight Faina... Take care... She slipped out through the door and headed through the Palace back to her own room

Belle Époque Cabal
Faina's initial warning of the simultaneous strikes upon Fel Tower and the Palace come in the form of telepathic images and impressions sent from the Imperial Knights caught up in the fighting when it breaks out, and are followed almost immediately by one of the Stormtroopers, all selected from the ranks of the Emperor's Talons, that garrison the level of the Palace that the Emperor's Suite is located on, that enter the living area where she and her youngest daughter, Yvaine, had been when she received the telepathic impressions to alert her to what she already knows. With her youngest son, Remus, currently on Bastion with her eldest son Octavian, Faina briefly considers attempting to warn them telepathically of the attack upon the Palace, but dismisses the idea given that the distance is almost certainly too great for the effort to succeed.
Her first thought, naturally, is of the safety of her youngest daughter, and Faina instructs the Imperial Knights that serve as her personal guard - Voshkie Sarkissian, a forty three year old female Atoan skilled in the art of battle meditation; and Nechama Matos, a forty five year old female Sarkhai with pale skin, blue facial tattoos and white hair who is widely recognized among the ranks of the Imperial Knights for her skill in lightsaber combat - to stand guard over Yvaine, having her daughter move to her room, which is situated furthest from the only entrance to the Suite so that she is in the point easiest for Nechama and Voshkie to defend along with the 5 members of the Emperor's Talons that are assigned to secure the main living area situated inside the only entrance to the Suite.
After donning her armor, Faina, accompanied by Lt. Col. Nicolina Foresi, the commanding officer of the Emperor's Talons, and a squadron of her Stormtroopers, heads from the Suite to join in the defense of the Palace.
Nicolina, armored like all of the Emperor's Talons, in the distinctive black armor of Shadow Troopers, and carrying a DLT-19 heavy blaster, has to almost jog to keep up with Faina, who looks more like her old, stoic, focused and determined self than she has since the death of her husband, the late Emperor, asks as they start moving past the State-of-the-art security installed throughout the halls and corridors leading to the Emperor's Suite and the defensive positions her troopers have taken up, We aren't going to be defending this level are we?
Faina, her silver lightsaber hilt already in her hand, shakes her head and tells her old friend in a resolved tone, "No, we're going to head down and help the forces on the lower levels halt the enemy advance."
Nicolina rolls her neck and grins under her helmet, opining aloud, Awesome.
The first 666th troopers that Faina and her companions, having gained access to a stairwell and utterly unprepared for what meets them when Faina lifts a hand and telekinetically throws two of the six Stormtroopers violently into a wall before igniting her lightsaber and, moving with the alacrity her command of the Force grants her, seems to all but disappear and then reappear in the middle of the remaining four and cutting three down in half as many seconds as the final 666th trooper falls to the well aimed DLT-19 heavy blaster that Nicolina sends into his chest and head.
Exiting the stairwell into a hallway currently being defended by Imperial Knights and 501st Imperial Guard, Faina and the Emperor's Talons with her enter the fray once more, soon turning the tide and, leaving the surviving 501st troops and Imperial Knights behind to hold their position, continue making their way towards the frontline of the battle.

Yvaine can hear in her Mother's tone of voice that there is no possibility with arguing her instruction to hide in her room while others go out to defend the Palace, and cannot imagine what it is she would have to offer in terms of a counter argument that would have even a remote chance of convincing her Mother of any other possible course of action than the one she has decided upon, and so does as she is asked and goes to her room.
Looking around her room once she is inside it, Yvaine looks at her tidily ordered shelves of books, posters of famous scientists and psychologists and her dataterminal with neatly stacked datacards arranged around it in an orderly fashion as though any of those objects could tell her what she should do other than simply sit and wait for the Palace to be secured. Having been trained by both her Mother and Uncle Brock in the art of lightsaber and unarmed combat, Yvaine is capable of defending herself, but knows that her skill pales in comparison to Voshkie and Nechama's. Even though she has always been more of a thinker than a fighter, Yvaine goes to the ornate Veshok wood box on one of her bookshelves, a gift from Clan Bralor, in which she keeps her lightsaber and takes the silver hued hilt out, only slightly comforted by it's familiar weight in her hand. Unable to sit still, and trying to remember all she can of her lessons in preventing her fears - for her Mother's safety more than anything as she can feel her unique signature in the Force moving closer and closer to the more dimly sensed violent, chaotic swirling of the non-Force sensitive combatants fighting for control of the Palace - from overcoming her and impairing her ability to be ready for action in the unlikely event any threat makes it way past the security systems, her Aunt Nicolina's Emperor's Talons, or Voshkie and Nechama.

The 12 Death Troopers of Rancor Battalion continued their descent through the Palace toward the residential areas. With the attack on the lower levels by the 666th and 999th Legions drawing much of the focus of the 501st and the Imperial Knight, only the Emperor's Talons remained on the residential levels. Coming down a staircase, the group stopped short of a hallway where Captain RB-21 turned off his helmet comms encryption for the external speakers Hold your fire Talons! I am Captain Arr-Bee twenty one of Rancor Battalion. I have orders from Imperial Intelligence to evacuate the Princess in the event the Palace was compromised... Jammers that had been set up in the days before the coup came online, blocking any radio communications within the Palace. The last thing they needed was the Talons alerting the Dowager-Empress and having her focus pulled back up here. They just needed to get in, inflict a couple necessary casualties, grab the Princess, and get going. Another detachment of Rancor Battalion were on their way to secure Amaris, a task significantly easier than the one RB-21 and his team had to deal with

SSG Anika Solberg of the Emperor's Talons, who has served with their leader Lt.Col. Foresi since before Nicademus Delvardus became the First Order's Emperor, orders her troopers to continue firing as soon as RB-21 calls out for them to hold their fire - were there any contingency plan in place to evacuate the Princess, Solberg is certain Foresi would have made her aware of it - but the damage is already done. Nirav 74, the platoon's Khommite comms operator and leader of the team furthest from the doors to the Emperor's suite, orders the troops with him to stand down even as Solberg calls out the order to continue firing, Nirav 74 so fatigued by the battle that he hears the familiar name of Rancor Battalion and instantly complies with the order.
The confusion in the Talon's ranks that results from the conflicting orders, brief as it proves to be, allows the 12 Death Troopers to lay waste to Nirav 74 and his men with little in the way of resistance, and Solberg and her remaining 10 troops fare only marginally little better, taking out 4 of the Death Troopers before, exhausted and with their backs literally against the wall, RB-21 and his remaining troopers cut them down, leaving only the sealed doors of the Emperor's Suite and the pair of Imperial Knights waiting beyond them between the Death Troopers and their mission objective . . .

There was no way that RB-21 and his team could have known any orders given before they arrived. Their II orders had been the basis to try engage and social engineer their way through this matter. Honestly he had put a good bet on the Talons disregarding it completely. However, he could not have asked for a better outcome as the Orders were ignored by some but obeyed by others.
When the dust settled and the doors to the Emperor's Suite before them, RB-21 took a moment to count their losses, 4 Death Troopers. Not bad against some of the Empire's best. It as just a shame they had not come over to the side of reason. A pair of Troopers got to work setting up the charges on the doors, focusing upon the joints for maximum effectiveness. Their encrypted comms chattered away as RB-21 ordered everyone to switch to stun and get out the gas grenades as they formed up in two groups, one on either side of the door.
With a quick count down, the charges were blown and the doors fell down inwards. Several can sized objects clattered through the doorway and across the room, spewing the Knockout Gas throughout the space. RB-21 counted down before leading the way through the door with RB-25 on the opposite side. Their guns spewed out Stun rounds, with the remainder of the squad moving in behind and doing the same. They were unsure of the exact numbers of resistance they would face, and so shot in fairly wide arcs to cover every angle they could. Silver blades cut through the gas as the pair of Imperial Knights worked hard to not inhale their demise. But Rancor Battalion was not discouraged, their guns focusing more and more upon the two targets and working to overwhelm the pair with sheer numbers.
Eventually though, despite striking out and taking another Death Trooper with them, Voshkie and Nechama found themselves struck by Stun Bolts and the gas seeped into their lungs. A pair of troopers had been about to shoot them, but RB-21 waved them off, instead directing the Squad to the final bedroom door. Cracking another gas grenade, they aimed this one under the seal of the door. But they did not wait long for the gas to do it's work, with RB-23 slicing the door controls and RB-21 sending a well aimed shot in at the blonde haired girl within. He gathered her unconscious form into his arms and made quick work ordering he remaining members of his team back to the roof.
They were soon back aboard the Assault Shuttle and taking off out across Galactic City and away from the Palace, their comms coming back to life to allow RB-21 to report in their status. As with the second platoon, the first Platoon headed for the blacksite where the two royals could be kept safe and under watch. But also to ensure Baltasar's compliance

*It wasn't just strange coming back to these rooms it was completely surreal. As Roland walked the now deserted interior halls of the Emperor's suite he couldn't help but be bathed in memory. Family gatherings had once filled the halls around him with warmth and joy, instead they now felt like an empty tomb. The family who once filled it now at war with each other, broken, or dead. It was a grim day for grim events, and his task here fit the mood of the rooms completely. For what should have been the most secure area of the Imperial Palace there were a surprising number of security flaws. Of course when those security flaws were created by the rebellious side of children and teenagers, they were often not noticed by those adults who they were intended to bypass and so Roland found himself seated behind another desk, once again waiting for his opponent to come to him....*

The security cameras watched as Roland infiltrated the Emperor's suite. The guards weren't present though, only one individual gazed at the holofeeds for a time before walking off to another room down the hallway. His gaze looked through the glass of the viewport as they witnessed the arrival of fresh loyalist ships in orbit. Of course his late brother, the Emperor Nicademus, had kept a secret from them all. That new Star Dreadnought would make short work of the Super-class and ensure its remains were scattered to the stars as nothing inglorious debris of an ill-fated cause. There was nothing left to fight for. Even now, Baltasar had sent all but two Stormtroopers away to fight, to run, or to surrender to the obvious victors. Even with all the seasoned commanders, veteran troops, and the aid of the cabal, they had proven disunited under the ambitions of those that the former Grand Marshal could not keep in check.
Baltasar knew it well, he was a horrible emperor. Better suited to command troops, read reports, and give orders, but to maintain and administrate an empire? Hardly his forte.
And so, he ventured away from the view and headed to where he knew his nephew was awaiting him. The doors hissed as the two Stormtroopers and the renegade Emperor entered. Baltasar looked upon Ferrum for a moment before deciding to continue walking. He grabbed himself a glass and proceeded to pour what would likely be his last taste of Corellian Brandy. The silence continued for now, occasionally interrupted by the shudder of turbolasers hitting somewhere on Coruscant's cityscape. Mostly stray bolts, nothing meant to be focused... at least Baltasar hoped so.
Drinking his glass slowly, it wasn't till halfway finished that Baltasar spoke.
=Baltasar= Amaris and my wife have been sent away to Rendili. A small contingent ensures their security.
Amaris was a Stormtrooper now. a teenager, but an ardent Imperial. The cabal came to distrust her and even Baltasar sensed where her loyalties truly laid. With her cousin, Octavian, and not with him. To save her life and prevent the cabal from grabbing her, the Emperor sent them away shortly before Octavian's arrival. When word of Brentaal's fall hit their news, the clock started to tick and so he prepared for the worst.
=Baltasar= Promise me... that they will get to Octavian... no, to His Majesty safely and that he will see to their needs.
The best he could ask for.
