Elav'passik, after assessing the enemy forces' disposition on the surface of Lessu, had sent the Sesk'nabsilai to the western front of the battle, where the Sesk'vati have made the most progress towards breaking through the invader's defenses. Ayy'teska, despite her intent to accompany the Temple guardians into the fray, had finally relented after much debate with Elav'passik, who felt that the Sou'kiva's importance to the governance of Ryloth far outweighed any contribution to the battle she might make, especially in light of the fact the temple leader has virtually no training or experience in battle. Elav'passik had, however, felt that Ayy'teska could contribute in another way, by contacting the other Sou'kivas and suggesting that they send as many Sesk'nabsilai as could be spared to other Sesk'vati positions throughout Lessu so that the Force sensitive Temple guardians might add their might to the Sesk'vati in hopes of repelling, if not outright destroying, the invaders.
The skies over Lessu begin to clear, as the enemy leaders apparently not willing to risk losing further ships which might be required in the event retreat becomes a necessity, and the Sesk'vati, who have suffered their own losses, begin to utilize their LAATs more sparingly. Sesk'vati AT-TEs continue to send fire into enemy positions, using intel from observation points throughout the city.

The tide of the battle, already having begun to turn in favor of the Sesk'vati after the invading forces had lost the element of surprise, turns truly and irrevocably once the Sesk'nabsilai join the military caste on the field; the Force abilities of the Temple Guardians coupled with the resolve and battle prowess of the Sesk'vati proving too much for the enemy forces to stand against. The enemy does not give up easily, however, and both sides pay heavy tolls in both loss of life and, less importantly, physical assets such as ships and vehicles.
Once some invisible point has been reached, and the enemy leaders decide that the prospect of victory is no longer worth enduring further losses in personnel or materials, the invaders adjust their strategy to making a withdrawal from Ryloth. Making use of the remaining, utterly expendable rakghoul hordes their twisted command of the Dark Side enabled them to create, the enemy leaders throw the former citizens of Lessu en masse against the Sesk'vati and Sesk'nabsilai lines. Having communicated the withdrawal order to their fleet in orbit, the enemy forces also have the covering fire the fleet maneuvers to send down towards the Sesk'vati positions, forcing Lessu's defenders to focus on maneuvering out of the danger zones while also contending with the rakghoul while the invaders begin using their drop ships to transport their forces back to their ships in orbit.
Once it is clear that the enemy forces are withdrawing, the Sesk'vati and citizens of Lessu feel a muted sense of relief rather than any triumph; not only are the Sesk'vati still dealing with the last of the rakghoul, but the loss of lives, and the fact that the surface of Lessu has been heavily damaged make any sense of having won a victory difficult at best.
As the battle ends, and order begins to be restored in Lessu, Ayy'teska, as well as the other Sou'kivas of the Council of Kivas and the Sou'koras of the Head Clan are brought to a subterranean make-shift headquarters from which they intend to begin the long, arduous task of restoring Lessu.

The days following the end of the attempted invasion are, for Ayy'teska and her fellow Sou'kivas as well as the Sou'koras they all advise, long and exhausting ones, nor is the work ahead of them likely to offer much respite from the demands of their positions in the foreseeable future.
The surface of the city of Lessu had suffered the most extensive damage in the attack, making the effort to search for the many citizens reported as missing in the aftermath of the invasion difficult at best, the task complicated further by the fact that the biological agent released by the invaders had transformed numerous citizens into rakghoul, some of which have yet to be accounted for. With the Sesk'vati of Lessu having suffered grievous losses in the opening attacks of the invasion, the Sesk'vati from Kala'uun had temporarily reassigned several of their own numbers to aid their sister city; some aiding the volunteer search and rescue parties searching the rubble on the city's surface for survivors or the bodies of those killed in the invasion while others were assigned to patrolling the city's subterranean levels, where many of the surviving rakghoul were observed retreating to in the aftermath of the invasion.

The lights of the funeral pyres are reflected in Ayy'teska's brown eyes as she watches them burn after her part in the mass Mi'sou - the Twi'lek ritual ceremony of Passing - has been completed. It is neither the first nor the last of the Mi'sou Ayy'teska knows she will be participating in as the city of Lessu mourns those who died in the recent invasion through the ritual honoring of the deceased by the sharing of memories, and though she believes that the fallen travel now into communion with Kika'lekki, Mother of All, Ayy'teska cannot help but feel bitter at the loss of so many lives, young and old alike, in such pointless violence.
Turning from the pyres when she feels a hand gently fall on her shoulder, Ayy'teska turns to see that one of the Fire Temple's guardians, or Sesk'nabsilai, has come up from the shadows behind her. Recognizing the Sesk'nabsilai when she emerges from the shadows and into the light, Ayy'teska reaches up to pat the familiar guardian's hand as she greets her, "Hirani'eyan. Is something amiss?"
"No, Sou'kiva, the young orange skinned Tolian Twi'lek says in an almost apologetic tone, It's only that the father of one of the victims being honored tonight wishes to speak with you." Like other servants of the Fire Temple, Hirani has seen how hard Ayy'teska has driven herself since the invasion - her duties as one of the advisors to the Head Clan and to the Fire Temple often filling her nights as well as her days with little opportunity for rest - and would spare the Fire Temple's leader from yet another demand upon her time were it possible.
Seeing the expression on Hirani's face and suspecting some of what motivates it, Ayy'teska smiles as she says, "Don't worry so, Kika'lekki asks no more of me than I am able to give. Take me to the father."
Later, after she has given the father what comfort she could, and has also spoken to others seeking her out for counsel or comfort, Ayy'teska makes her way to the small room she has taken for her personal chambers while the Fire Temple serves as a temporary home to some of the citizens of Lessu who lost their homes in the invasion. Though she would like nothing more than to sleep, Ayy'teska has other matters she feels require her attention before she can in good conscience consider rest, and it is hours before she finally permits herself to sleep briefly before waking once more.

A brown skinned Darian Twi'lek, Chom'racor was born into the Sesk'vati caste, and, as he has always loved what he does as a member of Ryloth's warrior caste, would have it no other way even were it in his power to choose another caste to have been born into. Even his current assignment, leading a team of eight other Sesk'vati into the subterranean levels of Lessu to hunt down and eliminate the remaining rakghoul in order to prevent them from spreading their infection to others and enkindling a plague that could threaten all life on Ryloth if left unchecked, is one that Chom welcomes despite it's perils and tragic notes; for he knows, as all have learned in the aftermath of the attempted invasion, that the rakghoul were once citizens of Lessu, transformed by the sorcery and science of the invaders. It is, Chom's firm belief, mercy that he will be bestowing upon the rakghoul who were once Twi'lek, and who deserve release from the fate cruelly forced upon them.
On the first day of their mission, as they reach one of the entrances to Lessu's lower levels, Chom turns to take a look at the sun as it rises over the ruined city he loves and has sworn to protect, hoping it will not be his last, and then adjusts the sling of his blaster rifle and motions for his two scouts to enter the lower levels and take the lead as they begin their hunt.

Setting her Whitecloak fighter down at the temporary landing facility she had been directed to, Trishna powers the ship down after a cursory post-flight check, and then pops the canopy to drop gracefully to the ground.
The air that blows her robes and the headscarf covering all but her eyes smells of sand, old smoke, and even older, heat baked stone as Trishna turns in a slow circle to look out upon one of Ryloth's capital cities, Lessu now a scarred, battered, and wounded sister to unscathed Kala'uun, left untouched in the recent attempted invasion. The lilac colored robes and darker lavender hued headscarf that Trishna wears are not the traditional attire of a Jedi, though the obi and shortened surcoat comprising parts of the robes are obvious enough stylistic nods to that Order's quasi-uniform to make Trishna's occupation seem apparent even without the lightsaber hilt worn openly on her right hip.
Her turn completed, and having oriented her enough to make her path towards the structure where she has been directed to meet with the Head Clan clear, Trishna sets out towards the next stage in her journey towards assuming her role as Watchman of the Ryloth star system, a role which, like all that she calls hers, was not hers until she took it, and the life and name of the Jedi she took them from, two days ago on Coruscant. Her steps calm, even, assured, and steady, Trishna unhurriedly makes her way through the city towards her destination, having time enough to get a closer look at the ravaged yet rallying city before the designated time of her meeting with the Head Clan.
At the appointed hour of her meeting, Trishna arrives where she had been directed, and introduces herself to whomever is there to meet her in a voice that is as tranquil and calm as the air about the woman who speaks with it.

With so many other matters demanding the attention of the Head Clan, as well as of the Council of Kivas that advises the Head Clan, in the aftermath of the foiled invasion of Ryloth that left much of Lessu in ruins, it is decided that halting everything bring done by the members of both the Head Clan and Council of Kivas in order to meet with the newly arrived Jedi Watchman would be impractical, if not irresponsible, and so instead a single member of each is selected to act on the behalf of their respective group.
Ayy'teska, dressed in a wispy, red garment that is wrapped around her waist with one end draped over her left shoulder, and Vuren'dira - a small, thin, and eerily composed blue-skinned Rutian Twi'lek dressed in dark blue robes - arrive in the make-shift lobby of their temporary base of operations shortly after Jedi Watchman Menon's arrival is reported to them, with one of the Sesk'nabsilai of the Fire Temple, Hirani'eyan, accompanying them.
"Kah'lehalle so fendoon, Ayy'teska greets the Jedi, bowing respectfully at the waist. Rising from the bow, the orange-skinned Tolian Twi'lek smiles warmly as she says in Basic, Welcome to Ryloth, Watchman Menon. We apologize that not all members of the Head Clan and Council of Kivas could welcome you today, and hope that you understand no offense or slight is intended."

Answering the bow of the female Twi'lek with one of her own, Trishna clasps her hands behind her back once she has risen, reassuring the Sou'kiva and Sou'kora in a tranquil, light, and airy tone, "Oh, there is no need to offer apology to me. Just as tranquilly, yet with compassion now lending a weight to her voice that had not been present before, Trishna says, Please allow me to offer my sympathies for what you, Lessu, and all of Ryloth have endured. Her eyes revealing her sincere sadness that the timing of her arrival is not as timely as could have been hoped, Trishna adds, Would that I had sooner been named Watchman of the Ryloth star system, and had been here to stand with your people against those who would do them harm." So completely has Trishna immersed herself in the role she forcibly took from the one for whom it was intended, that her sincerity when speaking is wholly genuine, born from a lie though it may be; for there are self-prescribed rules binding the woman who is now Trishna, and total surrender to the roles she assumes, along absolutely and whole heartedly embracing the mindset required of one truly called to those roles, is foremost among them. At least until another role arises to be stepped into.
"It is not my wish, Trishna continues after a pause, to keep you from your duties long; I only want to present myself to you, and by extension to all of Ryloth, and to place myself humbly at your disposal. If there is anything I can do for Ryloth, you need only ask it of me, for I come not only to watch, but to serve."

Ayy'teska has never met a Jedi before now, her experience with that Order or its members limited to what she has learned second or third-hand from sources ranging from the holonet to tales of Twi'lek's from several castes that have encountered the Jedi that have come to Ryloth in the past for one reason or another. Watchman Menon carries herself just as Ayy'teska has imagined a Jedi would, just as she speaks with all of the diplomacy and humility that she would expect from an Order known to instill those qualities in its members, though the lack of anything unexpected or surprising in their first meeting is not disappointing to Ayy'teska.
"We appreciate your offer, Ayy'teska says, her uncertain smile perhaps revealing that she is not sure whether they are being asked to task the Jedi with something immediately, or if the offer is a more general one. Moving onto more certain ground, Ayy'teska says, It is traditional for guests of Ryloth to be presented with gifts, and so we would give you a place to stay while you are on Ryloth. With the damage that Lessu has suffered, our choice is limited at present, and so for now you are welcome to stay in the Fire Temple until a residence for your use is found or constructed."
Vuren'dira adjusts the sleeve of his robe as he adds dryly, "We will also offer a feast in your honor this evening, so that you can see more of our culture while meeting the rest of the Head Clan and its advisors, as well as leaders of the Sesk'vati, whom I imagine you will be interested in working with as they protect Ryloth."

Having given no thought to where she might stay whilst going about the business of being Watchman of Ryloth, Trishna is pleased to learn that she will not be required to give the matter any thought as a place to stay is given to her before the need to have one, obvious as that need would have become eventually, even so much as occurs to her. Having had her first taste of what it must be like for Jedi to find that, as they, like Trishna, more often than not carry the entirety of their wealth and worldly possessions upon them at all times, meager as those things may be, what they need is often provided by circumstance or, just maybe, the will of the Force, Trishna offers another now to the Twi'lek duo as she says, "I graciously thank you for your hospitality, and for the offer to stay in the Fire Temple, which I accept. I also look forward to meeting with the other members of the Head Clan and Council of Kivas, and the Sesk'vati."
Not wanting to keep the Twi'lek from their duties any longer than necessary, Trishna says, "I would not want to detain you any longer than I already have, so if you will let me know where and when the feast will be held, and how I might get to the Fire Temple from here, I will say farewell for now."

Before Ayy'teska can answer the Jedi's questions, Vuren'dira speaks, having thought of an opportunity for Menon to prove the truth of her claim to be here to serve. "Before we part ways for the moment, the blue-skinned Rutian Twi'lek says while his right lekku swishes behind his back, it occurs to me that there is an opportunity for you to serve us, or rather the citizens of Ryloth, and which will also allow you to work with the Sesk'vati."
Nodding as she realizes what Vuren'dira is considering, Ayy'teska explains, "Those that sought to invade Ryloth most recently unleashed a vile plague upon the city of Lessu that . . . transformed a large number of unfortunate residents into rakghoul. While many of those unfortunates were released from their fates during the battle to push back the invaders, some survived and fled to the lower, subterranean levels of the city. The Sesk'vati have sent a team into the subterranean levels to hunt the rakghoul that remain, and, she gestures towards Trishna, I am sure that they would welcome the assistance a Jedi Watchman could provide, should you feel up to the task."

The woman who is now and for the foreseeable future Trishna Menon, Jedi Watchman of the Ryloth star system, listens carefully to all the Twi'leks say while presenting her with the chance to fit deed and action to words. While she has heard tales of rakghoul, Trishna has no direct experience with the abominations; though that concerns her hardly at all, so great is her confidence in her abilities, and so she does not hesitate to say with the calm, dispassionate resolve she imagines a Jedi should possess and so resolves to cultivate within herself so that she can be the type of Jedi she hopes to be whilst she seeks to inhabit her new role, "Then my assistance they shall have. Where should I go in order to join the Sesk'vati their search?"

"Ayy'teska will see that you are patched through to the Sesk'vati so that you can link up with them, Vuren'dira tells the Jedi Watchman, and then bows as he adds, Now, if you will excuse me, I am afraid I really must return to my duties. May the Force be with you," the blue skinned Rutian Twi'lek adds before turning and departing.
Smiling as she watches the young Sou'kora depart, Ayy'teska tells Trishna, "Please forgive his haste. Vuren'dira means no disrespect, he and the other Sou'koras have been driving themselves rather relentlessly in the aftermath of the recent attacks, and I fear it may have made them less cordial than usual. Her right lekku uncoils from around her neck and slides to drape behind her back beside her left as she turns and says, Come, I will see that you are put in contact with our Sesk'vati."
Leading the way into an improvised communication center, Ayy'teska contacts Chom'racor, the Sesk'vati leading the team tasked with hunting the rakghoul, and after requesting his current position, makes him aware of the fact that Trishna will be joining them on the hunt, and then has him hold his team's position so that Trishna can meet them. Ma’allesh *, Watchman Menon," Ayy'teska tells the Jedi after providing her with directions to where the Sesk'vati await her arrival.
In Lessu's lower levels, Chom'racor orders his two scouts to hold their positions, and then, after ordering the other members of his team to remain watchful for any signs of the rakghoul they are to hunt down, joins the Sesk'vati in the drag position to join her as she watches for the arrival of the Jedi.
* Travel safely

Her stride, like her mindset, is purposeful and intent as Trishna makes her way through the hot, dusty city streets to the entrance into the lower levels where she is to join with the Sesk'vati in their hunt of the rakghoul. It must be odd, the woman who has decided to be a Jedi, inasmuch as one who chooses to be one rather than being chosen and trained as one can be, to hunt creatures so vicious and foul while knowing that the creatures were once native citizens of Ryloth just like the Sesk'vati.
Once in the labyrinthian lower levels of the city, Trishna closes her eyes and stills her thoughts to focus on her awareness of the Force and all that It can tell her of the moment, of the beings near and far, of the future, and of many other things if only she can be still and silent enough within to hear and see and those things. She knows that she has not sensed all that she might sense from the awareness that is hers by virtue of her command of the Force, but Trishna is content, as she resumes her movement through the winding, lower levels of the city and leaves the more traveled and inhabited areas further and further behind, that nothing will be able to take her or her fellow hunters when she has joined them, unawares.
Her sense of possible threats is still only a faint tugging at the edges of consciousness when she nears the Sesk'vati that have been stationed to meet her, causing Trishna to believe that they will have a bit of time heading deeper and deeper down before they find the rakghoul, but she takes the lightsaber that is now hers from its clip as she strides confidently forth to meet the Sesk'vati all the same.
"I am Jedi Watchman Menon, Trishna informs the Twi'lek she encounters first, and smiles as she follows up that statement with a request, Take me to your leader, please."

Ilar'jab, the Sesk'vati that Trishna addresses when reaching his position down in the city's lower levels, grins as he says in his heavily accented Basic, "And here I thought they only said that in the holovids, Jedi Watchman Menon. Nodding his chin the direction they will be heading, Ilar says, Chom and the others are just . . ."
Trailing off as he thinks he spots something in the darkness behind the Jedi, Ilar takes a step closer towards her as he squints as though doing so will enable him to pierce the gloom and see whether or not his eyes have tricked him."Frotz!" Ilar cries as the first of the growls and skittering of claws scrambling for purchase on stone sound forth and signal the charge of the rakghoul horde responsible for the glowing red eyes that the Sesk'vati has spotted in the inky blackness. Boiling forth from the darkness, thirty or more rakghoul rush towards the Jedi and the Sesk'vati who, shouldering his blaster rifle, begins to back away while firing into the oncoming rakghoul, raking their front line with reckless abandon . . .

A Jedi, Trishna, who is not a true Jedi given that she has only assumed the identity of a Jedi, would probably concern themselves first with the survival of others, and only then with their own; as the rules she has set for herself when taking on the identities of others demand that she immerse herself in the roles she takes on so completely as to court losing herself entirely within them, Trishna knows that she will have to handle the present situation differently than she might when she is herself rather than actively assuming the role of another.
Activating the lightsaber that came with her new name and role, Trishna puts herself between the Sesk'vati and the onrushing rakghoul, turning to face the threat to them both, and when facing them rushing forth to meet them head on as they rush forward. Unfamiliar with lightsaber combat, Trishna knows enough about the weapon she wields to know that it will not require any great exertion of strength from her to utilize the humming blade of light illuminating the mass of teeth and claws and rippling muscle bent on tearing her and the Sesk'vati who takes out several of the unnatural beasts with his blaster fire to pieces, and so focuses instead on using her command of the Force to quicken her movements and enhance her agility as she leaps to close the last of the distance dividing her from the rakghoul with the lightsbaer held over her head in a two handed grip.
The lightsaber sings a savage song as Trishna swings it down and severs the head of a rakghoul with jaws open wide to tear her throat out, and before the head has hit the floor, arcs it out in an upward swing that slays two more of the beasts. Removing her right hand from her hilt, Trishna lifts it to send a Force push out to buy her and the Sesk'vati a brief reprieve from the rakghoul cast backwards by the telekinetic wave she cast out, and then dodges to her left, ducking to avoid the claws of a rakghoul swiping towards her.

Ilar'jab steps backwards, switching from full-automatic to burst fire when the Jedi almost literally dives into the fray, leaping forward into the oncoming wave of rakghoul with her lightsaber flashing and wailing as Trishna wields it against their foes. Trusting that the sounds of the battle will bring his fellow Sesk'vati, Ilar wastes no energy, breath, or focus on contacting them, and instead steadily backs away while carefully firing on the savage beasts, mindful of the need to keep track of Trishna so he does not hit her.
Chom'rakor and the seven other Sesk'vati comprising the team he leads, hearing the blaster fire of their comrade, begin to move switfly through the subterranean tunnels to close on the position where Ilar and Trishna stand against the rakghoul, but are moments away.
"Pull back! Ilar shouts as Trishna's telekinesis forces the rakghoul back briefly, pulling a thermal detonator from his bandolier and then hurling it towards the rakghoul. Fire in the hole!" Ilar cries, ducking behind a branching of the tunnel the fighting has erupted in to shield himself from the blast wave and debris the detonation of the explosive will create.

The lightsaber that is now hers flashes and hums savagely as she swings her arm out and forward to sever the head of a rakghoul that escaped the telekinetic wave that sent many of its packmates back, and Trishna then vaults backwards after hearing Ilar's warning shout.
Her lightsaber humming softly at her side as she lands and crouches after darting into a moderately sized recess in a cavern wall, Trishna steadies herself with her free hand as the roar of the detonator sounds forth, the light from the explosion dispelling the darkness briefly as the cavern seems to shake as the blast wave spreads out from its point of origin. The clattering of rock and the keening of the rakghoul not fatally wounded by the blast are the first sounds Trishna hears when the sound of the explosion ends, and she cautiously peers from her refuge to see whether the surviving beasts will retreat or renew their attack, looking for Ilar as well as she tightens her grip on the hilt of her lightsaber.

Chom'rakor and the other seven Sesk'vati arrive shortly after the thermal detonator their comrade, Ilar'jab, had thrown into the oncoming rakghoul swarm, explodes and kills many of the beasts, crippling or wounding many more.
Trishna will see that the scattered surviving members of the rakghoul pack elect to retreat and regroup rather than risk another frontal attack, and witness the deaths of several more of the beasts as Chom and his fellow Sesk;vati open fire with their blaster rifles.
"Cease fire! Chom orders, lifting a free hand when he sees that his team is firing into tunnels no longer occupied by the rakghoul they have been sent to wipe out. Set up a perimeter, Chom says, pointing towards individual members of his team and then towards the tunnel branches he wants them to take up watch over to prevent the rakghoul from attacking them by surprise. Glancing over towards the Jedi, Chom asks, Are you ready to pursue, Master, or do you need a moment?"

Keeping her lightsaber ignited so that its glow illuminates the tunnel around her in a bluish light, Trishna watches as the Sesk'vati leader deploys his comrades to establish a perimeter, shaking her head when asked if she requires any break before they resume their hunt. "I am ready when you are, Trishna says, tilting her head to the side as she extends her awareness of the Force and casts it outward throughout the tunnels in an effort to sense their quarry. Pointing her lightsaber towards a branch in the underground caverns that bends towards the northeast, where she can sense the remnants of the Rakghoul pack moving further and further away, Trishna smiles beneath her headscarf and says, We have them on the run, friends. Let's finish them."
Keeping her lighstaber ignited and at the ready down at her side, Trishna begins running towards where the Rahghoul are retreating, eager to end the threat the beasts represent.
