Major Calin and his twenty men set themselves up in the auxiliary command center, setting the rooms that had once belonged to the senior officers up as their own. Captain Salvo selects the north-east guard tower for Sabre Unit 's command center. Captain Wulf selects the guardhouse of the main command center as Kyr'am Company's barracks. The troops of Kyr'am Company begin work on restoring the command center to full operational capacity, while Calin and his men do the same for the auxiliary command center. Captain Salvo and his men convert their watchtower into an autonomous fortification.

The soldiers of Death's Cohort complete the repairs to the base, and contact the planetary government to inform them of their presence. They settle into a routine, conducting simulated missions on the plains nearby using simunition.

The troopers of Kyr'am Company who are monitoring the space around the planet take notice of the battle beginning to take shape. Major Calin directs the comm officer to send a message to the planetary council infroming them of the situation. He then orders his twenty men and Kyr'am Company into their ship, while Sabre Unit ensues the security of the base.

The troopers determine that the situation in orbit has improved, and return to their regular routine, although the troopers at the tactical displays keep an eye open for trouble.

The troops disembark from the Carrack-class light cruiser landed in center of the compound. The troopers of Sabre Unit in the command center notify the rest of the forces that have landed, and are beginning to head in the direction of the base. The command staff of Kyr'am Company return to the command center, and take their duties over again as the rest of the soldiers take up defensive positions around the base.

The troopers add their E-Web blasters to the defenses, and ensure that they have sufficient cover at their chosen defensive positions.

Major Calin orders the Carrack-class light cruiser to take off. It maintains a secure perimeter over the kilometer circle around the base, hidden in the clouds high overhead. It feeds targeting data to the troopers on the ground, allowing the two snipers in Major Calin's group, the fifteen snipers from Kyr'am Company, and the thirty snipers from Sabre Unit to pick their targets among the unknown force. The snipers ensure that they are all under excellent cover, and in perfect defillade from counter-snipers, scouts, or anyone who might be scanning the base. Four of the snipers lock their crosshairs on Master Kote, two lock onto Commander Claw, two lock onto Commander Rex, and four lock onto Asalla. The three scouts, despite their excellent attempts at camoflage, do not go unnoticed, and two snipers lock onto each of them as they expose themselves by climbing a tree. The remaining snipers pick targets among the remaining soldiers, sighting in on those that can be determined as officers. The troopers keep their weapons aimed at their targets, while ensuring that no more then half of the total non-sniper soldiers are visible to the unknown army. Half of the snipers aimed at each target switch their fire selector to stun. The unit designation is easily determined by the spectacular dark blue paint scheme of the 501st Legion proudly displayed on the armor of the approximately one hundred and thirty-six visible troopers Kyr'am Company.

The men start to set up tents and make some campfires to keep warm. The battalion settles down for the night. Most of them sit down on some logs and rocks they found around the campsite and eat their rations. They talk about their wartime experiences and about their possible bright future, if this whole mission works out. Master Kote goes into his tent to meditate and rest for the evening. Claw and Rex meet up with Hammer, Helios, and Rock.
Claw: Good job guys on your finding we may have ended up walking into a trap.
Hammer: It was nothing really.
Rock: We believe that we may have been spotted.
Claw: As did them.
Helios: True.
Claw: Get some rest and enjoy yourselves tonight. It isn't everyday you get to be around a fire with your brothers and enjoy a laugh or two.
Hammer: Thanks Sir.
The scouts walk off and go talk to some of the troopers. Claw and Rex go and sit down on a long log near a fire. Claw looks around and sees Asalla and motions her to come and sit down with them.

The troopers of Death's Cohort settle down for the night, keeping alternating shifts throughout. The snipers alternate, ensuring that their targets always have a rifle locked on them. The Carrack-class light cruiser's crew alternates, keeping the ship hidden in the clouds over the outpost. The crew lock the ships main cannons on the unknown army's camp, while scanning the area for incoming vessels. They link feeds with their allies of the planetary defense fleet in orbit, just in case they need further support.

Asalla examines her guns quietly while sitting in a tree next to the camp. When she finishes polishing her guns, she looks up and sees Claw waving for her to come over. Asalla returns her guns to their sheaths and leaps gracefully out of the tree and onto the ground. Asalla gets up from the crouching position from which she landed in as she thinks of how she loves the thrill of falling through the air. Then, she walks toward Claw swaying her hips like she doesn't have a care in the world.
Asalla: Hey. What's up?
Asalla sits down across from Claw, monitoring every movement in the trees surrounding her.

The troops are calm and enjoying themselves when all of a sudden a weird screeching sound occurs then is answered by another. A kinrath jumps out of a tree and lands near a trooper. He quickly puts on his helmet and fires at the Kinrath. It falls over and doesn't get up again. All of a sudden a bunch of them practically come out of nowhere and start attacking. The troops get their buckets on and load their weapons. Blaster fire almost fills the area around them. The guy throws a thermal detonator at a group of them and they explode in a ball of flame. A kinrath lands on a trooper after leaping and uses it's poisonous pincer to attempt to break his armor. Another trooper runs up and helps out his brother in need.
Claw: Where are these all coming from?
Master Kote: I don't know.
Rex: Just shoot them.
Master Kote jumps and shoves his lightsaber into a kinrath. Claw and Rex blast their way through a swarm of them. A bunch of kinrath attack an unsuspecting soldier and he goes unconscious. Claw rushes over and blasts them, he kneels down and checks for a heart beat.
Claw: Medic, we need a medic here.
A medic rushes over and starts to help the unconscious trooper. More kinrath attack a clump of tents that has troops in them trying to hold them off. Guns fire continuously to hold them off. The one soldier falls down from a blow to the head by one. Troops start to fall but the kinrath can't uses their stingers to kill them because of there armor. The sound echos out in the distance of yelling clones and blaster fire.

Asalla closes her eyes and senses kinrath surrounding her. Asalla's eyes shoot open and she draws both her lightsabers as fast as lightning. And before the kinrath can even think about advancing, Asalla curls herself into a small ball and then quickly stands, extending her arms and screaming as the power of the Force shoves the circle of kinrath in various directions. Asalla looks around and sees Claw kneeling next to one of the troops as medics rush over to him. Coming back to her senses, Asalla soars through the air to the nearest kinrath, and uses both lightsabers to cut its head off. Asalla lands right next to Master Kote and yells to him over the sounds of explosions while stabbing two kinrath at once...
Asalla: WHERE DID ALL THESE THINGS COME FROM?!
Asalla then rolls out of the way of a kinrath's stinger and stabs the it in the abdomen.

Claw and Rex run over to assist Master Kote and Asalla. Rex pulls out twin pistols and uses his trusty jetpack to fly over toward a swarm of kinrath. He uses his wrist rockets to fire at the swarm sending them flying from impact. Claw fires his DC-15A rifle to fire at the advancing kinrath. Five troops come up to assist Claw. One of these is Niner the heavy trooper. He comes in with his Z-6 rotary blaster cannon to plow down dozens of kinrath at a time. The other troops come in and use the trees as cover from the jumpy kinrath. One pounces at master Kote. He slices the kinrath in half right down the middle. He uses a force pull to pull three toward him and he slices all three with one clean stroke of his saber. He forcepushes the kinrath back and they smash into some of the trees. He throws his saber and it spins right through a wave of them, he uses the force to grab it.
Master Kote: I don't know padawan but that's a question for later.
Claw: Sir we actually located a cave where we believe the hive is located.
Master Kote: Try to push them back and we can attack the hive.
Claw: Right away Sir! Asalla help me push them back toward the cave.

Asalla stabs a kinrath in the neck and says...
Asalla: You bet your butt, Claw!
Asalla helps Claw by herding the kinrath back to the cave. Everytime a kinrath tries to attack or run, Asalla uses the Force and slams it into the ground and throws it away from herself and Claw. Asalla's forehead is beaded with sweat from the slight drain of energy from using a lot of the Force's power in a small time period. After about 10 minutes, Asalla looks up and grins after shoving a kinrath in front of her...
Asalla: Claw! I think I see that cave you were talking about!

The troops follow them firing at approaching kinrath and providing cover for Asalla and Claw in front. Rex flies in using his jetpack and uses dual pistols to pursue the hordes. Behind him flies his jetpack squad blasting from above. Niner fires at the horde taking out a bunch at a time. A group of kinrath jump from the side and ambush the unsuspecting troopers. Some troops get knocked over and kinrath try to eat them but all they do is bite the armor. Other troops come up and take out the kinrath. Claw: Cave in sight. Flame troopers do your stuff. Match: It's a pleasure Claw. Flame troopers rush into the caves and unleash the power of their flamethrowers on the kinrath. The troops wait outside. The sound of screeching and dieing kinrath comes out of the cave. The dumb kinrath are attracted toward the fire and are incinerated in the scorching fire. The troops continue down the dark cave path toward the hive to destroy the queen. The troops follow the sound of screeching and where the kinrath are coming from. they eventually reach a room where a bunch of kinrath are waiting to ambush them. They all rush toward them and the flame troopers ignite their flamethrowers. The kinrath bravely fight to save their queen but fail terribly when they all get roasted in the burning fire. They don't even attempt to retreat but instead lash out suicidally towards the flame troopers. The troops continue to burn them until they rush back to guard the queen. Match: Requesting back up to take out the last of them. Claw: Right away. Claw motions for half of them to enter the cave system. ooc starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Clone_flame_trooper |

Asalla chuckles as she twirls her lightsabers in her hands already following Claw into the cave.
Asalla: This oughta be fun.
Asalla continues behind Claw and watches ahead. Just as she is about to look away, she see their destination and her heart races with anticipation.

The troopers of Death's Cohort watch in moderate amusement as the unknown forces base camp's inadequate security perimeter is breached by the horde of Kinrath spiders. The snipers laugh silently inside their helmets as their targets utterly abandon all pretence of cover, and then chase the spiders into the unsecured cave that they originated from. Iside the command center, the few ops troopers of Kyr'am Company access the old GAR comm network, and locate the channels and encryption that the unknown army is using.
"Major Calin, we know who's sneaking around out there. It's the Nine-Ninety-Ninth Legion. Holonet records indicate that they refused to execute Order 66 en masse, and fled with their Jedi Commanders. As of three ABY, there was a bounty of five billion credits on their collective heads. However, given the fall of that Empire, I doubt that that offer's still good.""Good work, Shade. Link us to their comm channels. I want to hear whatever they're saying. And try to make sure that they can't backtrack the connection." Unknown to the soldiers of the 999th, the troopers of Death's Cohort had previously set remote demolition charges in the tunnels, in order to ensure that the area is secure. If someone were to take a careful look around, they would notice the demolition charges. If that someone were to take a closer look, the devices are clearly stamped: :GAR PROPERTY: -501st LEGION- -DEATH'S COHORT-
The explosives are of a design common for Republic soldiers during the Clone Wars. An experienced tracker would be able to determine that the devices were placed barely a week ago, and a skilled EOD tech would be able to detect that they were set by soldiers trained for the clone army.
