The troopers in the fort keep aim on the tunnel that the 999th Legion has entered. Calin sends an encrypted comm to the command center, where it is recieved by Lieutenant Greah. He keys a comm code that is completely unknown into the stations comm relay, sending a five minute long pulse deep into space. This pulse is easily detectable, but impossible to decipher.

As the soldiers of the 999th legion exit the tunnels, Lieutenant Shade goes to rouse Major Calin from where he is resting. He knocks on the door to Calin's quarters. "Sir, they're exiting the tunnels. Corporal Havok is getting a little twitchy with that detonator." "Right. I'm on my way up. Sound general alarm, and get the men back on the walls." Calin starts clipping on his plates, and in a few minutes he is on top of the wall, surveying the situation. The rest of the troopers take up their positions.

Calin and his soldiers resume their positions, acquiring perfect sniper locks on the command personnel of the 999th legion. "Shade, are our reserves in position?" "Yes sir. Captain Kyrk is in position for immediate insertion." The troopers of Calin's company maintain their position on the top of the walls along with the soldiers of Kyr'am Company. The troopers of Sabre Unit position themselves in reserve in the courtyard.

Several of the soldiers adjust their aim to target the approaching squad. "Shade, open a link to Kyrk. I want the reserves ready to strike." "Got it, sir." Shade taps his forearm control panel. "It's done. I honestly pity those poor saps if they start something." The troopers of Calin's company maintain their position on the top of the walls along with the soldiers of Kyr'am Company. The troopers of Sabre Unit remain in their position in the courtyard.

Claw and his four squads he picked head up to the fortress. They have their blasters lowered but are prepared to fire if anything goes wrong. Claw is in the front with the surrender flag raised to show he means no harm to any of the men guarding the fortress. They reach the courtyard and put the flag in the ground.

As the soldiers approach under their flag of truce, Major Calin quickly moves to the gate, followed by Lieutenants Shade and Kix. When the other group reaches the closed door to the fortress, Calin nods, and a trooper opens the gate slightly. Calin and the two lieutenants quickly step out of the fortress, allowing the gates to close without revealing any of the interior of the fort, even as the soldiers on the walls steady their aim on their targets. Calin looks the new arrivals over. "I am Major Calin, commander 505th Legion. What is your business here?." The troopers of Calin's company maintain their position on the top of the walls along with the soldiers of Kyr'am Company. The troopers of Sabre Unit remain in their position in the courtyard.

Claw removes his helmet and his men do the same shortly after. Claw: "I'm Claw and this is Sevens, Echo, Fives, Niner, Vod, Tank, Spike, and Shooter. We found signs of GAR presence here and we came to check it out.

Calin nods, showing no inclination of removing his helmet. His modified DC-17 blaster rifle clacks quietly against his backplate. Lieutenant Shade rests his right hand on the hilt of one of his twin DC-17 Hand blasters, while Lieutenant Kix holds his DC-15A sniper variant loosely across his chest. "No GAR forces here. Punched out a few weeks after the Temple op." The troopers of Calin's company maintain their position on the top of the walls along with the soldiers of Kyr'am Company. The troopers of Sabre Unit remain in their position in the courtyard.

Claw: "So you are a deserter too." Claw chuckles to himself. Claw: "So we aren't the only ones who can't stand the Empire. We deserted when order 66 occurred before the Republic became the Empire."

"Not exactly. Some sort of wormhole hit us in Coruscant orbit." The troopers of Calin's company maintain their position on the top of the walls along with the soldiers of Kyr'am Company. The troopers of Sabre Unit remain in their position in the courtyard.

Claw: "That could be possible." Claw's men look around and can't spot anyone. Claw: "Where are your men."

"In position. That's all you need to know." Calin looks over the men that Claw has brought with him disdainfully. He glances at the sky, as if receiving a communication from above, then returns his gaze to Claw. "So, what brings you here?"

Claw: "After we left the GAR we came out here to the outer rim. The place people come to not be noticed. We planned on settling down here to enjoy our "retirement" away from those who want to use us for their own personal gain.

Calin shrugs. "Well, you picked what is normally one of the better planets to disappear on..." Calin deactivates his helmets external speakers. "Erik, pull up the Nine-Ninety-Ninths service record and send it to me." In the control room, Lieutenant Erik begins accessing the remnants of the old GAR and Imperial data networks. He streams the processing files to Calin's helmet. "Working on it, sir, but the encryption on them isn't light. Nowhere near as heavy as ours, but no walk in the park either." "Thanks Erik." Calin reactivates his helmets speakers. "So, how do you want to play this?"

Claw looks over at his men that are with him. He looks back at Calin with a serious face. Claw:"My men need shelter and a medical facility. Our tents aren't doing good against The creatures because we were ambushed by kinrath earlier today. Many of my men got injured in the fight and they need medical attention immediately." The men look around at the wall and their surroundings to make sure all is safe.

Calin smirks under his helmet. "Maybe you should have put up a better security perimeter." He glances across the open fields towards where the rest of the 999th is camped out. "What is your force strength?" The troopers inside the fort maintain their defensive positions. Lieutenant Erik keeps the link to the fleet open, ready to call down reinforcements from the fleet in orbit.

Claw smiles. Claw: "I'm not one to brag but we have an impressive force of 50,000 split into two groups. We were one of the republics finest forces. The other men smirk to themselves in agreement.

"Fifty thousand, not bad, not bad at all." Calin glances over the transcript of the 999th's battle record on his helmet's data feed. "Yeah, you guys were pretty good; as far as mainline units go. Of course, the elite black ops units were in their own class, and still are." Shade and Kix grin under their helmets at Calin's indirect joke at the expense of the 999th.

Claw: "Well you got us there." Claw grins but a second later puts on a straight serious face. He then puts on his helmet. Claw: "Ok lets get down to business. Can we stay at your base for a while to tend to our injured and regroup with the rest of our force?" Claw's internal helmet comlink system activates and he deactivates his external helmet speaker. Rex: "The men are regrouped and ready to move on." Claw: " I'm asking now." Rex "Send word when you get a reply." Claw then reactivates them again and folds his arms.

Calin silences his external speakers again. "Wulf, Salvo. What do you think of this guys idea?" Wulf activates his comm from the operations center. "Calin, even if you do let them stay here, they're going to need to set up some of their own stuff anyway. This base can only accommodate three thousand at maximum, and is intended for a garrison of about one thousand or less. If they're anything of the special forces they claim to be, their ships should have at least a prefabricated command center and medical bays. He shouldn't be begging for a secure area for his injured when he's got three perfectly functional cruisers with medical bays far more capable then ours is here." "He's right mate. Why aren't his larties picking his wounded up and transferring them to his cruisers, where they would have a secure zone to recover in?" Calin nods, almost imperceptibly. He reactivates his external speakers. "Is something wrong with your ships, that your wounded can't recover there? Regardless, this base cannot accommodate an army of your size. I am willing to let you camp outside of our walls for the moment, until I have assured myself as to your intentions. You may dig trenches and erect any portable fortifications you have, as long as you keep them facing out."
