Varonat's terrain was primarily composed of steaming jungle, as well as mountains and plains.

*Outside the twin cities of Tropis and Edgefield groups of Yuuzhan Vong starfighters began to patrol the area. Civilians cited fleeing from the cities were shot down by the yaret-kors on the Slayer ships. Any farms were noted and information regarding their locations was sent back to one of the Vua'Spar in orbit. The Yorik-Trema had made their ways back to orbit and would fill their carrier bays with the Yuuzhan Vong Warriors stationed onboard the Vua'Spar.*

*The Yorik-Trema began dropping off groups of 5 at each of the farmsteads that had been pinpointed by the starfighters patrolling the areas around the two cities Edgefield and Tropis. The remaining 20 warriors were dropped off at the exiting roads of the twin cities ensuring that no further aerial assistance would be needed to contain the populace from fleeing into the jungles around their cities.*
*The three Yorik-Trema would head back up into space to continue to bring out the soldiers stationed within the Vua'Spar. Within an hour over 1144 Yuuzhan Vong warriors would be deployed in the areas surrounding the twin cities. They would leave half of the soldiers from each Vua'Spar within the vessels as a precautionary measure in the off chance that the ships would be boarded.*

*As more and more soldiers flooded down from the Yorik-Trema's constant runs between the ships overhead and the landing zones, the quietness of the jungle broke into a sound of marching and guttural grunts and mutters from soldier to soldier. The Slayer Ships were constantly being alerted of the whereabouts of various HoloNet broadcasting areas and were clearing the way for the Yorik-Tremas to make their drops there after they had made the initial drops for the troops around the city.*
*Soon the roads in and out of Edgefield and Tropis were completely blockaded by the Yuuzhan Vong, and once positions had been secured there some of the soldiers either moved into the city or into the jungle searching for any humans that may be hiding out in the jungle. Chants rose up over the canopy of the trees as the Yuuzhan Vong cheered loudly their prayers and praises up to Yun-Yammka, the God of War. They had his favour in this war, and this planet was only the first battle.*

*Tzu Shai guides his Vorik-Slayer down to the landing zone that his Trema had been using to deploy troops into the twin cities. Shortly after landing he exits the Slayer, the 6 foot 5 Yuuzhan Vong Slayer moved to stand in wait for the brother he had spoken to in orbit. His larger than normal amphistaff was curled tightly around his forearm, and his now sanguine coloured Mqaaq'it scanned the current scene around him. Troops moved about from station to station, some going into the city as others left it. It was a flurry of movement, and from the sounds coming from within the cities the battle would be coming to an end soon.*

On the way down Esthh Krazhmir looked over the deployment of Shai's forces. They seemed to be in good order, but in typical straight forward fashion. That would do fine here, but he had a feeling that it was those tactics themselves that meant the destruction of too many troops in the last war. Either way it was a good way to allow the warriors to relieve some strain and momentarily satisfy their bloodlust before proper planning could be introduced. The ship set down in silence and he stepped out into the humid steamy atmosphere of the jungle planet, turning to view the slayer waiting off to one side.
"I am Esthh Krazhmir. I didnt know there were any forces left in this area of the galaxy until one of my yammosks detected gravitic activity of one of its own."

"My forces are making their way from Tur Yenagh. We had begun rebuilding the Yuuzhan Vong Empire, and when I returned from a small voyage to Coruscant, I found no one. It was as if they had all vanished..." *Tzu looked over the Praetorite, before looking towards the city of Tropis.* "So I set out with my forces left and sought somewhere closer and clandestine to make our new home."
"We will do well here, this planet is perfect. And from what I gathered from the Galactic Registry it isn't too densely populated, much of which is pirates, seemed too good to pass up. What news do you have from the Unknown Praetorite Esthh?" *Tzu's spoke a bit slowly, while he continued to watch his soldiers. He was amused to see how well they had done, he still however would have a talk with the Yuuzhan Vong that had been in charge of the units where warriors had died. He had expected less casualties than 17, and if only the pilot who had been gunned downed had lived through the crash Tzu would flay him. But he had accomplished it, for the most part, to acquire a planet for his shapers to come down to. So that the ships could be repaired, and so that biots and polyps could be grown.*

"We are all that is left. I was forced to destroy a task force sent by Nas Choka just to keep what was there. Our entire species it seems has surrendered to the Jedaai, and Nas Choka sent fleets to destroy those who would not submit and surrender our warriors ways. Being in the Unknown Regions were were generally unable to get replenished on any regular basis and were left largely to our own devices. I managed to grow new ships to hide that we still existed, sacrificing the ships that we had originally set out with to complete the illusion. I have hoped against hope that there was more than just us out there. But now I have found you. Perhaps we can restart our peoples Empire together, pooling our resources. What we lack in numbers we make up for in...new...biots. Our shapers are eager to begin growing defenses if you have an initial location for your base."
The Yorik-Vec itself spoke to the...new...biots, short almost pipe looking creatures extended in pairs from the vessel that should not have been there, their positioning gave them wide fire arcs not covered by the typical Yaret-kors.

"We shall build our base a few kilometers away from the city Tropis along the road, already the slaves are being commanded to restore the starport and salvage some of the technology within. Your journey sounds much worse than mine, it shows our favour with the Yun'o. We are the last true Yuuzhan Vong." *His right arm relaxed, as did his stance once he mentioned the technology. He was not sure how tightly he clung to old traditions, traditions that had gotten much of the chosen race eradicated and caused others to bend to the jedi peacefully.*

Esthh gave him a sidelong look, but his body relaxed just visibly.
"It seems the Praetorite were not the only ones who have been forced to deal with unsavory things in order to continue our ways. The Intendants that we have with us have great experiance with such things, as do our warriors. If you wish I will set them to aiding you while I set the shapers to begin growing our base structures and defenses. Then we will have to discuss what each of us brings to the table in full, and decide on a strategy."
In truth hearing Shai mention that he and his men were more comfortable working with infidel stillborn technology was a great relief to him, since many of his biots and activities during the war were be declared heretic and he and his force would once again be on the run. He no longer believed in the gods...not since Coruscant and the surrender. But he knew too much of Shimraa and the true goings on in and behind his courts to worry about any thing the 'gods' could have done to him.

"Know thy enemy. Yes, some of your warriors and Intendants could be helpful in showing the Yuuzhan Vong I have stationed there as well as keeping an eye upon the cattle within the spaceport area." *Tzu Shai scratched at his chin with black claw like nails, while peering at the Praetorite before him. Praetorite were a crafty group, he had spent time with some on his last trip to Coruscant. His Mqaaq'it turned to a sparkling sky blue while he thought about sneaking onto Coruscant to gather Yorik coral.
"I can bring my Yuuzhan Vong to the table, they have followed me loyally for quiet some time. The various skills that I have in combat and tactics, I have done some work alongside Praetorite in the past and am familiar with some espionage and subterfuge works. And I have our home." *Tzu didn't need to mention that he had been Dread Lord for some time, at least to all the men here, and the few that he had brought from Tur Yenagh before it had vanished.*

"I shall set them to it immediately."
He turned one arm over and slapped a discolored portion twice and a light villip floated a hologram above the plate.
Commander?
"Bring down the ship, set the Intendants and Warriors to aid...Overlord Shai's men at the spaceport, then set the Shapers to growing the base and defensive biots."
He got a confirming nod before tapping the discolored spot twice more and the warriors likeness vanished back into the nothingness of air before he looked back up at Shai.
"It is more difficult to destroy than a villip upon one's shoulder. If you would grant me some time Overlord...perhaps we can tour our new home together and get on the entry of the qhasa?"
Without waiting he started walking slowly to his left around what would become the new perimeter of the base. He had used the honorifics, and noticed that his warriors did not bristle at its use, but had remained stiff each time he had used it. He had no intention of insulting this other commander in front of his own men, not until they could work out how the command structure actually was. As he passed out of earshot of both warriors he began to speak.
"Let us speak plainly as warriors, even though I am a Praetorite Vong, and you a Yuuzhan Vong. We served the same master, who is now no longer with us, who defied the gods, if they ever existed, and now we find ourselves alone in this galaxy, and we and our men are heretics."

*Tzu watched his light villip in amusement, it was an amazing biot. He would have to see about having one implanted in time to the inside of one of his forearms. He followed the Praetorite's walk and listen to his words. He had respect for this Esthh, they were both survives, and both heretics. Their only major difference was their belief in the Yun'o, but this was not something Tzu Shai concerned himself with. The moment he worries over another's beliefs he has made himself weaker.* "Heretics only to old and flawed traditions that were either schemed up by Intendants or Priests."
*He pauses his stride for a moment to look towards Esthh.* "Esthh, we are the masters now. I of my men, and you of yours. If we joined together I don't see any reason on why a joint leadership would not work. Shimraa, was never my master, I served for the glory of our Empire." His mqaaq'it turned the hue of a deep violet as he spoke. Tzu had watched in countless battles how small changes could have turned the tides, such as extensive knowledge on infidel technology.*

Esthh paused and turned to face Tzu. It was good that they both saw things in the same light, he was unconventional in his thinking, considering he was a Slayer, but then he had ordered warriors with a certain view on things be put forth to the secret shaping compound as candidates for the Slayer modifications...perhaps this was one of them...perhaps not. It no longer mattered now. His own mqaa'its shifted colors subtly, but with much less flair as his strictly warrior counterparts' had done.
Behind him one of the Mataloks floated down slowly from the sky to slowly and carefully settle onto the ground on studs that shifted down to hold the ship in place as dovin basals held the majority of the weight.
"Then we are agreed. We shall each retain command of our own men. We shall have to share what we know, so we can optimize our forces."
He looks over at the obviously different than standard Matalok as it extended boarding ganadotes and Yuuzhan Vong began streaming down the tongues to set about their tasks.
"Come, let me show you some of our biots, I noticed you eyeing my light villip earlier. You may find much more even more interesting than that."

*Tzu nodded with the others words then looked towards him, gazing into the other's mqaaq'it. "We shall lead together....this is new for us Yuuzhan Vong." *He then did a mild movement that could be registered as a shrug.* "If there is anything that I have learned from the Yun'o, it is that we must always become new. And I am most interested in your biots. The shapers onboard the Vua'Spar in my fleet are mostly all Adepts and novices."
*Tzu followed Esthh, his amphistaff moving up his arm and over his shoulders before stopping coiled around the left forearm of Tzu Shai. Tzu Shai had been once a guard for Shimraa in his youth, before being dispatched with Hunters and eventually with the Praetorite. But of all things, he would always be a Slayer, bred to cut down the infidel Jeedai and the Steng's Talons implanted in his upper forearms and into his kneecaps spoke of the strength that he had carried. He could recall initially being looked at as an abomination, and over the course of years those who once looked down on him could only strain to see eye to eye before it was him looking down upon them.*

Esthh nodded.
"That is one thing that we always had available was master shapers. Adepts simply couldnt handle the strain, though we do have a number of excellent ones, only the masters can truly attend some matters."
He gestured to the modified Matalok.
"My shapers have found a way to create an analog of the infidels energy weapons, combining the chained energy glands of amphistaffs, lambent crystals, and a modified version of a creature in this galaxy known as a beldon. It gives us a much greater range than our yaret-kor does, and doesnt take up the internal space for molten material. A similar operation happens with electrified gasses turned to plasma, without the lambent for ion cannons." He gestured again to the side puckering areas on the Matalok, three on each flank. "Our mataloks now carry their craft inside, we have a remote villip controlled drone that our pilots can direct from across the galaxy if needed, as if they were in a cockpit themselves, and the openings open into a modified blorash jelly, providing nutrients to the entire craft to heal and recharge at internal structures, much like the lungs in our chest. We couldnt keep replacing pilots that we didnt have, so we decided to create expendable craft that could fight on their own, be directed by yammosk, or piloted by pilots who continue to learn, rather than die with their craft and take their knowledge with them. They are only 2 infidel meters long, grown in one tenth of the time as a full coralskipper, small enough they can be grown if necessary on a ship, and are capable of going to darkspace. It has given us a reach previously dreamt of by commanders, and has made the difference many times in turning the tables on an infidel ambush in the Unknown Regions."
He was silent for a moment.
"As soon as the base structures are seeded I will assign some of my masters to take some of your most promising Adepts and bring them up to Master status as soon as possible."

*Tzu studied the ship looking from it to Esthh, the infidel technology grafted with their own. It was a brilliant move, and surely if the infidels saw such a vessel they would be sent into shock out of fear. He listened while he described the drone fighters, and how quickly and efficient they were made.* "I appreciate such an offer, and if there is any way that any of my Yuuzhan Vong may be of assistance for you tell me and it shall be so. Tell me how much of this region of the galaxy are you familiar with?"
*Tzu Shai walked alongside his fellow Dread Lord, his history was rusty but he could safely bet that for the first time in the history of Yuuzhan Vong there were two Supreme Overlords. Something his Yuuzhan Vong would have to get used to, as well as the galaxy full of infidels. The fact that the Matalok flew and did not die from having the infidel technology grafted from organic material shows the lies that had been spread about the Yun'o wishes. Esthh had gotten to do so much that Tzu would have liked to have done, however the ever watchful Priests and Priestesses amongst the Intendant chaste would never have allowed such studies of infidel technology. Perhaps this is the moment in time that the Yun'o had chosen the Yuuzhan Vong to be the rulers of the Universe.*

Esthh frowned.
"Unfortunately my knowledge of this region of space is limited to just that. Knowledge. Being Praetorite we were able to get the best intelligence and star maps available, and the best intelligence, but I am new to this sector, and whatever information that I have on it is years old at this point. Since before the end of the war. I am afraid it would be largely insufficient for much detailed planning or for foreseeing nearby threats."
It was the major downside of being isolated. He knew how to move about in the Unknown Regions, commanded the fleet that had silenced the Yevetha, and started a civil war in the heart of the most abominable of all infidel species, the Ssi-Ruu...he had taken great pleasure in seeing that fight begin.

"I see. Still the information might be useful, specifically anything regarding fortresses or strongholds on planets nearest ours. We are close to Coruscant here, closer than I have been since Tur Yenagh. I have been in some of the other rims around here, and had made plans in the past for invading several planets. We could be in a strategic stand point here." *Tzu had long ago abandoned the plans, it was something not achievable on his own, however with Esthh's help and in time they may actually be able to pull it off.* "The plan relied on effective blocking of hyperspace lanes, and using gravity wells to force fleets and ships out of hyperspace. Doing quick attacks this way before jumping away ourselves."
*He stood beside the Praetorite, with his arms folded over one another and his yellow hue eyes peering into Esthh's. He didn't have the exact diagrams with his person but he could have it brought to him within a moments notice. He looked back to the magnificent abomination that Esthh had ordered constructed. If Tzu was the type to smile he would be doing so now, but he wasn't.*

Esthh nodded at the plan. It made sense. A slow start while their base or eventually bases, grew up enough to repel an attack on its own, and they could gauge the strength and intelligence from infidel ships that passed through the systems around their new home before committing forces to large scale attacks.
"A sensible first step. I can send some of my scout craft to nearby systems as well to take an inconspicous look around. We don't use the disguised like an asteroid ruse anymore. The infidels seemed to have a fascination with mapping all the objects in their space, so we could never count on our ships getting the right intelligence."
Esthh could work with this Overlord, he hadnt missed the new title that he would have to be referred to now. It made him a little uncomfortable about being escalated to that level, after all he felt he hadnt really earned it, but better a promotion than forcing Shai to take a, even informal demotion in the eyes of his men.
"Where were you thinking first?"
