Description:
Designed to serve as a highly versatile warship capable of carrying out support roles as part of a larger fleet as well as long duration, independent deep-space operations, the Augrim-class is a rugged, heavily-armed cruiser equipped with four heavy turbolaser batteries, sixteen quad laser turrets that can be retracted into the ship's hull, six concussion missile launchers mounted perpendicularly to the hull in a manner similar to that of the Victory-line of Star Destroyers and a powerful, ventral-mounted mass driver cannon that serves as its main weapon.
In addition to the protection of its shielding, the hull of the vessel is heavily armored and angled to deflect shots, although the large engines create a large, vulnerable target for enemy warships to fire at. Equipped with six fairly powerful engines, the Augrim-class Heavy Cruiser is relatively fast and maneuverable considering its weight and armament, with a fairly narrow and compact profile at the expense of exposed engine pods. Featuring a small hangar bay that can carry a mixed complement of up to 12 strike craft or shuttles, it can also serve as an escort or scout carrier, should the need arise. Embodying a jack-of-all-trades philosophy, it is ideally suited to mercenary organizations and navies requiring ships that can operate independently for long durations of time, far from support fleets or reinforcements.
