*Two figures stood there, but Aerandir's sight was locked upon the older of the two. The tails of his white robes flowed behind him as he quickened his pace. Morgan hesitated only briefly before darting towards him as though she were still a child. She flung herself at him and he caught her, pulling her into a long embrace. He heard the Farghul guard say,* "Guess that's proof, then," *but it didn't spoil the moment in the slightest.
Eventually they released the embrace, allowing father to look upon daughter. She was much older now, sure, but he knew the face of his Morgan. He was nearly overwhelmed by emotion—clearly, so too was Morgan—but it seemed both of them had the discipline to hold it in, exchanging grins with each other.*
"Welcome home," *he said.
Morgan laughed in mild disbelief.* "You're not gonna ask me to explain myself?"
*Aerandir shook his head.* "It's done. No use worrying about the past, even if we've got a lot to keep up on. I can already see some things haven't changed, though."
*As she laughed, Lokay croaked happily as the tailring climbed across Morgan's arm and onto Aerandir's, perching up on his shoulder and nuzzling against his cheek.*
"Good to see you too, Lokay," *Aerandir said.* "Hope Rush and Terror are fine."
*Morgan nodded, glancing back at the jungle and saying,* "They're back there waiting for me, just like old times."
*Aerandir looked past her, but at the very curious girl watching them. His eyebrows flickered upward and he blinked, for what he thought he saw was a second Morgan. No, not quite, but the resemblance was remarkable.* "And that's... ?"
*Morgan looked at the child, glanced back at her father with an almost-embarrassed expression, then half-turned towards the child, beckoning her forward.* "Roma, come here."
"'Roma'... ?" *Aerandir repeated, almost immediately recognizing such a name.
The girl eagerly approached, Morgan kneeling by her side and gesturing towards Aerandir.* "Roma, this is... your grandfather."
*Aerandir knelt down as well as Morgan confirmed his suspicions. Hearing the word, however, had a powerful effect as he looked into the girl's gray eyes, who stared back into his curiously.* "You made Mama?"
*Despite himself, he choked on a laugh.* "Well—" *He looked into Morgan's eyes for only a brief moment and smiled.* "Yes."
*Morgan returned the smile with glistening eyes before looking down. He looked back at the child—Roma—who seemed both surprised and pleased by his answer.* "That means you're my family too, right?"
*A grandchild... was the last thing he had expected Morgan to bring with her upon her return. Of course he was curious about the father, but judging by their rugged appearances, it was clear they both knew a wild life these last several years. A story for another time, as he only nodded and said,* "Yes."
*Smiling, Roma threw herself at him with a,* "Yay!" *and wrapped her arms around his neck.
He returned the embrace naturally, though in his mind it was a young Morgan he held. His wave of nostalgia subsided and the reality was no less wonderful. He released one arm to wipe the moisture from his eyes before placing his hands on her shoulders and breaking the embrace, smiling into her face.* "What's your mama told you about the temple?"
"She said it's where the, um, 'Jeguy' live!" *she answered.*
"'Jedi,'" *Morgan corrected, voice almost clear.
Roma didn't seem to notice, continuing,* "Right. She said you use the Force like we do, and all of you have lightsabers like Mama! And that you fight against bad guys and you help the, um, Galaddic..."
"'Galactic Alliance.'"
"Right!"
*Hearing the name of the fallen democracy nearly cut into Aerandir's joy. He glanced into Morgan's eye, the look in them telling her everything she needed to know.* "There's a lot to discuss," *he said to her with a serious undertone. The joy returned when he looked upon Roma again, smiling once more as he stood.* "But first, I'd better show you around. I've got a feeling I'm gonna be answering a lot of questions." *Looking at Morgan as she stood, he pointed at her, adding,* "And you're helping!"
*Morgan managed a laugh despite the concern in her eyes. He turned and began to lead the way, but not before Roma grabbed his hand. As his mind processed the notion that he held the hand of his granddaughter, emotion threatened to overtake his mind once more, but he quickly regained control.* "Now I think it's probably a good idea to start with finding you a place to stay," *he said, heading in the direction of the residential towers.* "Besides, I'm sure the rest of the family will be eager to see you again."

*Chatter. Just words, arrogant words with little hint of thought behind them. The Sith assumed—poorly—that Aerandir had no faith in his fellow Jedi to defend where he could not. He was also foolish if he thought the Jedi would want who he perceived as the most dangerous Sith among them allowed any further into the base. Were base personnel falling? Yes, however...*
"To be fair, so are yours."
*Aerandir released the lock and flourished his blade, feigning a strike for the Sith's right knee before sharply turning his wrists, aiming for the left thigh instead.*

FeluciaOriginally known as Galuch, Felucia was a fungus-covered, fairly inhospitable planet between Thanium and Mossak, located near the Perlemian Trade Route. Settled by the Gossam race early, it would become an important CIS stronghold during the Clone Wars and the site of a major battleground. The Twi'lek Jedi Master Aayla Secura was sent here to fight for the Republic, but was later killed during Order 66. The Togruta Jedi Master Shaak Ti would later seek refuge from the Great Jedi Purge on this world, only to ultimately be defeated by Galen Marek, falling to her death in the sarlacc pit.
The Galactic Empire would gain a foothold on the world, and Jabba Desilijic Tiure briefly set up a cartel here until his fall in 4 ABY. The Empire's rule was later relinquished when the New Republic drove away the Imperial Remnant.
Later, Felucia would again undergo a power struggle of Jedi versus Sith until it came under the influence of Jedi Master Raven Alora. She, along with other Jedi, founded the Felucian Conclave within the Jedi Base originally built by Commander Belac. The world, due to its strength in the Force and ever-shifting balance, continued to see its fair share of struggles with dark forces, such as the being Ramius and later the demon known as The Legion, though both were defeated. The Jedi of Felucia would later be joined by Aerandir Calmcacil and the Jedi of Belkadan when their Academy was attacked and damaged.
Eventually, the Jedi Order would come to call Felucia their home, largely operating from the former Jedi Base as well as a small number of other locations. The same Base was eventually damaged in a raid by the Blackguard, leading the Jedi to build a new, better-suited temple as their central home, from where the heart of the Order still operated, proving their ability to stand strong in the face of adversity. For more canon history, please see the Wookieepedia article. Current Ruling Factions:Felucia is an independently-governed world, watched over by and sharing a cooperative working relationship with the Jedi Order. IC Sympathy Tends Towards:Jedi or other servants of the light, allies of the Jedi Order, researchers, civilians, and other such non-hostile entities. Antagonistic entities are free to appear with the understanding that their IC discovery will be met with appropriate resistance. Type of RP and/or SL Likely to be Found:Felucia is open to any and all types of RP, whether it be closed, open, planned, or spontaneous. Our only request is that you do not seek to be disruptive for the sake of being disruptive; our primary focus is to create a welcoming RP environment for all. However, our other goal is good story, whatever form that may take, and do not wish to control the RP of another party, just so long as everyone involved keeps a level of respect for their fellow writers. To Join the Story Here:As always, respecting each other is key. Felucia is welcoming of all types of storylines, as long as you respect your fellow writers. However, in a departure from previous procedures, requesting landing clearance via orbit is only required if seeking to land at the Jedi Temple, unless otherwise prearranged with a member of the writing team there. The Temple would understandably desire to screen any and all incoming traffic, but any seeking to RP in other areas of the planet are free to come and go as they please. While not necessary, a PM or other correspondence with the writing team would be beneficial in helping provide you the best possible RP experience; similarly, new arrivals may receive a PM from the writing team asking if there's anything we can help you with. So stop on by and we hope you have a good time! Things to Keep in Mind:Felucia is largely untamed and uncharted jungle, full of dangerous beasts, plants, and fungi. It's also home to a number of diseases, which can be prevented by inoculation; said inoculations would most likely be found in civilization, though it's conceivable one could receive them offworld. The world is watched over by both the Jedi and the native Felucians; the Jedi tend to focus on the civilized areas, but will lend a hand when needed within the wilderness, where the Felucians protect. The Felucians tend to have a good relationship with the Jedi and a tolerable one with offworlders, though perhaps not all of them. They adore and worship their homeworld, thus they would not take kindly to any who would willingly desecrate it, for instance. Who to Contact:As mentioned above, you are generally free to arrive and write on Felucia as you please. For seeking Jedi storylines on the planet, you may contact Aerandir Calmcacil ; for further Jedi Order activity beyond Felucia, you may contact Mike Frantz or Will Sontir as well. Important Landmarks:- Jedi Temple
- The home of the Jedi Order, the temple was built after the Sith raid on their former base. Constructed from white marble, it stands as a beacon of light in the galaxy, proof of their unity and devotion to peace and freedom. As a newer establishment, it is equipped with the best accommodations the Jedi could provide for its residents, whether it be their state-of-the-art medical wing, expansive archives, tranquil gardens, or varied training facilities.
[li] Military Base[/li] - This base, originally built by Commander Belac for military personnel, once served as a branch of the Jedi Order, and later its home. The base was left damaged following a Sith raid, resulting in the construction of a new temple. The base was repaired during and after this construction, reverting to the military base it once was.
[li] Kway Teow[/li] - Kway Teow is the capital city of the tropical world of Felucia. During the Clone Wars, Commerce Guild Presidente Shu Mai maintained a secure compound just outside the city borders, which was a short speeder ride from the city. Now, however, it is a free city, its government working closely with the Jedi to ensure its residents' safety.
[li] Niango[/li] - In the final days of the Clone Wars, the Sepratists constructed a biomolecule facility within the city of Niango, from which a toxin spread into the planet's water supply. Jedi Master Aayla Secura and Jedi Knight Barriss Offee, along with their plans, attempted to stop the poison spread, but were killed when Order 66 was executed. The newly-formed Galactic Empire, however, would finish the job. Now a simple city, the people of Niango would sooner forget the incident.
[li] The Vanishing Place[/li] - The Vanishing Place is a prison established by the Galactic Empire on Felucia shortly after the end of the Clone Wars. Gilder Varth was interned there before being rescued by the Alderaanian Resistance. Captain Vischera worked there. For a time, it was the base of the darksider Ramius, until he was defeated. The Vanishing Place was later purged of its shadows by Mary Cerulea and a small strike team.
[li] Ancient Abyss[/li] - The Ancient Abyss is a sacred sarlacc pit located on the planet Felucia, home to the largest known sarlacc specimen in the galaxy. At the time of the Galactic Civil War, a Felucian city existed between the teeth and gums that stretched for kilometers around its maw. The tendrils of the sarlacc are so large that they are capable of dragging large beasts such as rancors into the creature's mouth.
[li] Rancor Graveyard[/li] - The Rancor Graveyard is an ancient site on Felucia filled with the bones of dead Rancor creatures. Bail Organa was held here during the Felucian genocide by Maris Brood, who had taken control of the Felucian tribes. The ground around the area was seemingly unstable; when Galen Marek fought a Bull Rancor at the graveyard, he used the force to pick up and drop the rancor, causing the earth to collapse and opening up a large chamber.
[/ul] Hopefully this guide will be helpful to you and provide you with the necessary information to guide your RP. Welcome to Felucia!

Throughout my many years of writing here, as my style constantly shifted and developed, an idea I absorbed both from discussions and reading others' posts is "less is more." Hell, it's not an idea unique to JvS either, but I feel it's important. Details... some of us got so caught up in them, myself included. Used to see these other writers posting these large chunks of text and feeling inadequate, so I started to add more to my writing to "keep up."
I hate those posts now. They're full of what I call "fluff." Meant to look nice and little else.
Detail-laden posts have their place, especially when setting scenery, analytical moments, or when the history of an object or character is relevant. Insight is important, but it doesn't need to be omnipresent. You want things to flow as best as they can. Keeps the RP moving, makes for an easier read overall, helps a lot with investment. It's incredibly easy to lose people in the nittygritty. "Show, don't tell" is key. Readers love to pick up on implications and wonder what they mean. If you're wondering how that works in writing as opposed to visual media, it's telling a story through character actions and dialogue rather than expository narrative. Again, narrative is fine, even necessary at points, but it can disrupt the flow easily, and flow is key.
In short, details have their place, but generally less is more. Show, don't tell; flow is key.

Alright, well a few more days became more than a week. Had family from out of town so I'd been distracted the last couple of days. But now that I've finally been able to sit down and actually remember this, I'm calling it official.
Mike Frantz, Will Son'tir... welcome to the Jedi Council.

*The new Calmcacil family quarters... or not so new anymore. Ten years was enough time to settle into familiarity...
But it still didn't feel like a home.
Yes, this was where he lived. Where he slept. His wife lived here, as well as his children, Mina, Lucina, and Alvis. But Morgan was gone, and didn't want to be found. Annabelle and Kayla had left too, but in their cases, it was to seek new opportunities elsewhere. He had been able to see them off. Give him his blessing. Morgan? She simply ran away.
Not a day went by he didn't think about it. He swiftly became an expert at not letting it show, if only to keep a strong appearance for his family and of course the Order, but his wife knew it. His sister. His closest friends. They knew, visible anguish or not, he always thought about the daughter who left.
His only solace was that he had been able to reach out to her through the Force and communicate with her. She was a part of his very soul, amplified through the dantari crystal she had poured her own energy into, as well as Felucia's. She was alive, she continued to survive... but she never told him why. Never responded when he nearly begged her to come home, every single time they had spoken. There were even times she didn't respond to his call at all, or at the very least didn't allow him to see her.
He would have looked for her. Had tried often to pinpoint her location in the world. Felucia herself interfered, however, masking her child well. He'd almost sworn she'd even asked him to let her be "selfish," to keep her daughter to herself for a time. Begrudgingly he came to accept this, but he never ceased asking her to come home.
Today, she once again chose not to answer his call. He'd since learned not to sustain the attempt if she didn't answer. With a sigh, he withdrew his reach and opened his eyes, just as the door to the quarters slid open. Looking back at him was Mina, appearing a bit disheveled. Her green eyes asked if he was alright; a decade had done little to change the sixteen-year-old's quiet nature.*
"I'm fine, Mina," *he said with a smile, standing to his feet.* "Training hard, huh?"
*She only nodded, her gaze skeptic as she entered the quarters, doors sliding shut behind her. She walked past him as though to head to her bedroom before stopping and continuing to stare at him questioningly.
With a sigh, he replied,* "Fine. Morgan didn't answer again today."
*Mina gave a look of concern.*
"She's alive and well. She just... chooses to do this and I don't know why."
"Miss her," *said Mina.*
*Aerandir nodded.* "We all do."
*A brief moment passed, Mina glancing down at her feet. Without another word, she nodded and headed to her room.
Aerandir sighed again. Mina was becoming a beautiful young woman. Lucy was a few months away from fourteen, and Alvis was nearing his twelfth birthday. Jake and Michelle were now young adults now and leading their own lives within the Order. Michelle's Knighting, as he had long ago predicted, came earlier than most. Jake had been recently Knighted, at a more typical age. Both were very proud moments for Aerandir.
Morgan would have been Knighted as well by now.
Her disappearance had an effect on them all. None of them had let it distract from their development, but each of them had their moments. Jake especially; Aerandir had needed to work him out of a period of self-blaming in the earlier years after her departure. The only one seemingly unaffected was Alvis, but this was likely due to him being too young to remember her. For his sake, and not wanting him to share in the family's woes, Aerandir made sure never to let her disappearance cloud his childhood.
Aerandir just wished he knew when his child would return to him. Not even Ashla seemed to have an answer.
For now, he had to put it out his mind and attend to his duties. With a simple gesture to reopen the door, he stepped out into the halls, taking the elevator down the tower and making his way deeper into the temple...*

On another important note, Councilor shuffle. Rawkill stepped down a little while back, and Serrin regrettably fell in battle IC, which leaves... just me. I've already reached out to two potential replacements before bringing them before the Jedi writers to see how receptive you lot were. The choices are Mike Frantz and Will Sontir. I'm waiting to hear back from Will, but Mike has already accepted. I want to make sure it's alright with the rest of you before I go through with it. I don't foresee any objections but I want to make sure your voices are heard first. Also Serrin agreed with the choices and if you disagree with Serrin you have no soul.

The deed is done! The Jedi Order now has a new temple to call home. I put a description in the main thread, but wanted to get the other threads up and running, although I will add descriptions to those ASAP. As said earlier, the Jedi Base threads will for the time being remain until the conclusion of the raid RP. This way though, RP at Felucia can continue as normal, with a fresh start even! Speaking of fresh starts... I'm doing one myself. A sort of "soft reboot" and something I've basically never done before on JvS: A timeskip. Basically, I've felt some elements of my writing have grown stale, as well as the fact that quite frankly I have more characters than I need, be they alts or PCs. Instead of some crusade to kill off or write out these characters, I chose the timeskip as an easier out. This way, I can simply pick and choose which characters remain, and others can simply fade into the void. If for some stupid reason I talk myself into bringing back certain ones, I can find a way; similarly, I don't really need to explain why they vanished either. A few obvious ones will remain, but I want to reduce my core characters so it's easier to be invested and harder to get lost keeping up with them all. We'll just pretend my avatar looks like an average mid-40s man. Even if it was already stretching to claim I looked late-30s. I'll find a replacement soon enough. >.> <.<

Gardens

Post by Aerandir Calmcacil on Aug 21, 2018 21:00:20 GMT -8
Located in the center of the temple, the expansive gardens were a place of tranquility and relaxation. Spanning multiple floors, they were decorated by flora both from the world and elsewhere. Flowing through the gardens were several artificial rivers, originating from fountains on the upper levels, trickling to the lower levels via waterfalls and culminating in a central fountain on the ground floor, from where the water would be recirculated to the upper levels. Several benches dotted the gardens for resting upon, whether for meditation or simply to enjoy the scenery.

Residential accommodations at the Jedi Temple were divided into four adjacent towers, each with their own designated residents.
Two of the towers were dedicated to the children of the temple, and as such built differently. Children were divided into age groups, each of which were assigned to a specific floor. These floors consisted of several bedrooms, furnished with bunk beds, all connected to a single common room. Each floor also had a bedroom belonging to that age group's caretaker, allowing them to better monitor their students and ensure their safety.
The third tower was dedicated to both the older and the more experienced residents of the temple. Knights and Masters alike were afforded their own simple, but comfortable rooms. These possessed basic amenities, including a bed, closet, and fully-equipped refresher. Each room was also just sizable enough to afford the owner a modest measure of customization. Padawans were also given their own rooms in this tower, close to those of their Masters. A small handful of floors were also dedicated to larger family quarters, consisting of multiple rooms and more space for the Jedi families to live in.
The fourth and final tower was also the smallest, dedicated to guests who stayed at the temple. These rooms were similar to those of the third tower, but meant to be temporary accommodations rather than permanent residences.
The four towers were connected at the bases by a hub, which included the temple's expansive dining hall, where all residents of the temple could dine together. While residents of the children's and superiors' towers could freely move between the three, residents of the guest tower were only allowed access to that specific tower for safety concerns.

The Archives were an expansive wing, rivaling those of the Great Temple of Coruscant. Knowledge from across the history of the Jedi Order and the galaxy itself could be found here, though some was restricted based on rank or clearance level. Terminals in the archive operated on their own network, separate from the other systems of the temple, preventing outside access. Most terminals were free to use by all, and a librarian was almost always on hand to aid those who sought it.

The Training Wing of the temple was quite an advanced step up from those of the former Jedi Base, as well as more properly divided by purpose. They did, of course, possess several combat training rooms, complete with sparring droids, spare weapons, and adjustable terrain, along with holographic visual filters and weather controls to simulate various environments.
There were other combat training courses of a more specialized nature. On the simpler spectrum were a handful of shooting ranges for those who preferred or dabbled in firearms. These came with adjustable settings, ranging from simple still targets to various movement patterns, whether set or random, at differing speeds. If looking for further challenge, the ranges could be converted into a battle zone simulation, providing cover while the targets even returned fire.
On the more complex end, there was the zero gravity training room. A more unique style of training room suited for simulating rarer combat situations, such as on the hull of a spaceship. Access to this room was restricted; only Knights and Masters were allowed access, or those accompanied by one.
The training wing wasn't all dedicated to combat, however. Some simpler facilities included a running track and a gym, for honing one's physical prowess. As well there was an obstacle course room, fully customizable with all sorts of hindrances, platforms, and hazards, all with their own adjustable settings. One room even housed a large pool, fit for both recreation and even underwater training. The facilities were also equipped with a central set of locker rooms and showers, for changing into appropriate training gear and washing off after an intense training session.

Hangars
Aug 21, 2018 20:59:17 GMT -8
Post by Aerandir Calmcacil on Aug 21, 2018 20:59:17 GMT -8
The temple sported multiple hangars, each suited to a specific need. The first hangar, adjacent to the temple, was meant for the public, whether they be guests or on business relations. The second, located within the temple itself, housed the ships of resident and staff of the temple, requiring special clearance to enter. The third, located underground, was a military hangar, sporting starfighters and various other warships which could be prepped and launched in record time, as there were always a handful of Jedi on duty in case of an emergency. This hangar sported an iris hatch in the ceiling, through which the ships would travel.

In the wake of the Blackguard raid upon the Jedi, the Jedi Base suffered significant damage. This expedited plans by Grand Master Aerandir Calmcacil to build a more proper Jedi Temple in the same region of Felucia's surface. Built from marble, the massive temple was constructed by Jedi builders, both from the High Council as well as additional volunteers, bonding each piece with the Force itself. Mike Frantz installed the temple's electrical systems alongside its construction, ensuring an efficient, centralized intelligence and security system, specialized for the Jedi Order.
Upon completion, the High Council and additional builders meditated within the alabaster temple, bathing it in Ashla's light, blessing it with her presence. Soon after, when the temple was fully-furnished, it was at last being deemed the new central home of the Jedi Order.

Alright guys, big announcement. I'm going forward with the creation of the new Jedi Temple forum. Attached to that is the deletion of the Felucian Conclave usergroup. I had spoken with Raven before about merging it into the main Jedi Order usergroup but I decided instead to announce this change, so that anyone in the Felucia group but not the main Jedi Order group may find their way over on their own. Similarly, if anyone still has their display usergroup set to Felucia but is a member of both groups, please consider changing said display usergroup to "The Jedi Order." Thanks! That said, assuming things go through as requested, the Base threads will for the time being remain until after the conclusion of the raid RP. Think of it like a Temp RP forum, as I still plan to have all but the titular "Jedi Base" forum archived after the RP has concluded. The reason I'm moving forward on this is because I want to open Felucia back up to RP. The raid is great, but with the nature of it being a little more "controlled," it does make Felucia seem a bit locked up. There's the old "You can RP a different timeline" argument, but I'd rather just have the open environment back. That said, this will probably be the crop of threads we're looking at to start with, potentially adding more in the future based on need:

This seems to be the most appropriate location I can find for this request, apologies if I'm wrong. When the request was made for the Jedi Order thread, we at the time didn't ask for an HQ, as Coruscant's Temple already existed. Seeing as we're no longer using that location IC (haven't for some time and officially disavowed it), I'd like to request a new headquarters for the Jedi Order. I'll just use the typical form for that bit: Group/Faction HQ: - Name of the HQ: Jedi Temple - Planet and part of planet where the HQ will be located: Felucia - Permissions: Open. I'll take care of posting the necessary threads. If you're wondering about the Jedi Base already on Felucia, well, that's what the second part of the topic title is about. Please delete the usergroup "The Jedi Order - Felucian Conclave." I had meant to do this some time ago, but decided to group it with this request as they're related. If it's no trouble, I'd like to keep the Base forum open for the duration of the Sith raid RP, but once that's concluded, I'll request archival of all but the titular "Jedi Base" thread. Please and thank you!
