Right, well, the Fel crew is a smuggling crew which is not much of a place for an archaeologist, so I've been trying to think of reasons why you guys might want to keep me around and for me to want to stay around after this story is over that would make sense in character for both parties. So here's what I've come up with...
Though his recent work, including his search for the Eye, has been met with some criticism Daniel is a fairly well respected member of the academic community and so he receives substantial funding from the Galactic Museum on Coruscant for most of his expeditions. This is important for several reasons, not the least of which is the fact that these expeditions would be an excellent cover for the crew's illicit activities and should the crew get in a pinch Daniel's credentials would likely be enough to make anyone believe that the crew was on the up and up. You might be asking yourselves what does Daniel get out of this? The answer is simple, he gets to explore the galaxy, learn about several cultures, and depending on what world we end up on he could make some interesting discoveries. So he essentially gets adventure and knowledge. And of course with the museum funding him he can pay of any legal supplies, such as food and fuel, and of course my passage. Now, you might be thinking that all I'd like to do is run these artifact storylines, and I assure you that is not at all what I want to do. Of course it will be part of Daniel's story, but I by no means intend to try to force any one of you to join me in them. In fact I intend for them to mainly be side and background stories to explain my ability to pay for things. Perhaps in the future I might have the chance to gain a more centralized story, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it.
Thoughts? Questions? Concerns?

I'm not sure where or if I fit into this story anymore but I have an idea for how I can still be useful to the crew if I'm welcome to back, I can pitch it if you'd like.

Daniel Logan if you're around and able to post, I'd like to have a few words with you before we land on Bespin. Otherwise, I'll continue with the landing, and catch you another time. I'll work on a post and hopefully have one up by Saturday.

With a nod at Dante's advice Daniel changed his grip to the recommended 'tea cup' grip as he watched Dante walk away and into the storage container. He thought it was a bit odd to hang around inside a cargo container but then again was it any more odd than locking yourself in a broom closet like Daniel had? Probably not. Though Daniel did so for his research, something that wanted to be left alone to do because that is what made him feel at home and something he was passionate about. So why the cargo container? Daniel curiously thought to himself, Maybe it's something important to him. Little did Daniel know just how important that something was.
He shook off the thoughts and started to practice his shooting once more, short bursts as Dante instructed. His aim however was much worse with the quick fire, even with the teacup grip that he had adopted. Luckily Daniel was a quick study, but he knew that shooting at actual people would be much different than shooting at some target, it was certainly something he wasn't looking forward to and would avoid until there were no other options.
That was the thought that made him most nervous about Bespin, harming someone simply wasn't something he was prepared nor wanted to do. This is just for protection. I'm not going to hurt anyone. He kept thinking to himself over and over again to justify all of this, not that it was working, he knew that he would be the only one not shooting to kill. Perhaps if he were a better shot he could save some lives by stunning their adversaries before the others had the opportunity to gun them down. He needed to keep practicing and that's exactly what he did.

I'll post tonight but after that I think I'll wait for Liya or Jace to check up on us. At some point I kind of have something I want to say to everyone but I need a little more build up to it.

Dante nodded silently as he listened, and eventually walked over to Daniel, and began pointing out various pieces of the guns anatomy."Trigger, safety, power pack release, cooling grid - careful not to let your finger slide up when firing, it'll get burned, stun setting, lethal setting. It's good you've already had some instruction, you'll know then that a blaster is just a standard particle beam weapon...you run out of gas for energy amplification, and you switch out the cartridge with the release lever...easy as one two three. Never yank on the trigger...it makes the barrel flip up slightly; thats an issue on laser weapons, as the beam is non ballistic...where you point IS where you'll shoot. Instead, gently depress the trigger till you feel it click, then pulse your finger...every weapon has its own sweet spot in the trigger pull, find it, and you can fire off shots without effort. As he spoke, Dante clicked the weapons safety on, and pulled on the mans finger, demonstrating the differences in pull length."...when your shooting an attacker, the vital areas are of coarse where you want to shoot. But contrary to popular opinion, it isn't wise to shoot for the head in a fast paced firefight. An unskilled shooter like yourself is going to miss half the time, unless you're at point blank range. Instead, shoot for center mass, that is the torso of most humanoids. This thing will punch through armor and cook a hole straight through most any sentient you come across...you don't need to worry about where you hit it...just that you do hit it." Walking over to the crate, Dante tapped the chest of the roughly humanoid figure. Then gestured for Daniel to take several steps back."Now...practice time. You need to get acclimated to the weapons kick, and the sound of blaster fire in general. Shoot this target as long as you have to till the sound doesn't make you flinch. Try not to focus on the durasteel sights on the weapon...try and focus on the target just beyond the sights...with time, aiming - accurately aiming - will become second nature to you. Give it a try." As Dante pointed out the various parts and functions of the weapon Daniel followed along listening intently, taking particular note in the stun setting as he would be making use of it if there was a need for him to take part in a fight. To the rest he merely nodded to confirm that he understood. It was clear that the time for conversation was over and it was time for him to begin his training, but Daniel knew that no amount of training he would receive would prepare him for what may come once they set foot on Bespin, and he was certain that Dante and the rest of the crew felt the same, so it begged the question, is this for their benefit, to set their minds at ease?...or for mine? And it was a question that he would have to ponder whilst attempting to learn the basics of taking a life. The thought made him cringe as he looked at the blaster, this wasn't who he was, it wasn't who he wanted to be... In his final days on Dantooine Daniel was introduced to a side of his father he had never seen before when their team unwittingly opened a Laigrek hive. Luckily for Daniel he did not witness the carnage that unfolded nor did he lose his father. But it was something that stuck with him, seeing the survivors being rushed away as his father scooped him up in his arms and instructing a young Daniel to hide his eyes as they ran, his father firing his blaster behind him. The noises however did not escape him, the sounds and screams that he heard he did not understand for many years. And it wasn't until he discovered what had happened that day that he truly understood his father's lesson, that fear would only serve to hold him back, to make him useless. It was a lesson that he had forgotten on this trip, and he had almost been killed as a result. Another lesson he wouldn't soon forget. His gaze down at the weapon turned to the silhouette on the cargo container and he raised the blaster, leveling it with is eyes and took aim at the center of the target and with a deep breath he squeezed the trigger, too high- he thought as he adjusted a few degrees and fired again, too far right- he adjusted once more and fired, too far left- his adjustments and firing continued for several more shots before his arm began to get tired. He brought his hand down and shook out his arm before continuing.

Daniel cautiously stepped into the cargo hold, looking around at the makeshift shooting range that Dante had put together and something told him that this wasn't the first time Dante had made something like this, nor would it be the last. He listened to the breakdown of what the weapon can do, nodding every now and then to convey that he understood what he was being told. He held the weapon by the grip lazily in front of him making sure that his finger was nowhere near the trigger, glancing down at it from time to time. Listening to what Dante was saying about what makes a weapon deadly, and he agreed mostly, however in his mind it could be argued that while people make weapons deadly that weapons in turn make people deadly though he would not bring up the point.
"My dad used to have a pistol, he taught me how to shoot it once, but it was much different that this one. Smaller, lighter, he used to use it to shoot small rodents and reptiles on digs. He let me stand guard once. It was--" he stopped and looked down, with a quick shake of his head, "nevermind."
It was the last time he had seen his parents alive, but that was personal, no one needed to know about that. He sighed and looked at Dante, "Honestly, I'm lost." He certainly was, he didn't know how to use a weapon, and sure didn't know how to take someones life, nor was he willing to.

It certainly wasn't his turn to talk, but it was apparently Dante's, who had just returned clad in black and ready for battle, drawing Daniel's attention to him. That was quick. He thought to himself before looking Dante over, what could he possibly need all of those weapons for? Daniel knew that they may be headed into trouble, but Dante had enough weapons strapped on to take on a small army. And as he stood there staring at everyone Daniel only had one thought on his mind, he's really creeping my out. And then he spoke.
Killing people is going to help his mood? That makes me feel much better. He thought sarcastically. Thank the core they were almost there. It wasn't exactly difficult to tell that Dante made Daniel uneasy, his cavalier attitude toward death and apparently murder would have made almost anyone Daniel knew want to report him to the authorities and then run for the hills, or the other way around depending on the person in question. It wasn't until Dante pulled a pistol out that Daniel got really nervous, but learning that the madman would have one less weapon on his person set Daniel's mind slightly at ease.
But then the weapon was tossed to him and Daniel's heart almost stopped. He fumbled the weapon around in the air before finally catching it in one hand with his journal securely grasped in the other, as he thought to himself who throws a blaster!? Then he realized that he actually had a blaster in his hand and he looked quickly up at Dante, only seeing his back as he walked away, he then looked to Jace and then to Liya with an Oh-My-God-What-Do-I-Do? expression painted on it. Clearly he was still uncomfortable around blasters of any sort, and this one was pretty big.
He looked back down at the blaster, then to Jace, then to Liya, then back to the blaster staring silently before he started to walk, not sure where he was headed. He preferred to use his brain for defense, not some killing device.
As he exited the cockpit he looked back over his shoulder once more, not really sure where he was headed or even why. The last thing he wanted was to be trapped alone with Dante...out of screaming distance. But surely enough he followed the THUMP, THUMP of Dante's steps as he lead the way to the cargo hold.
