"Di'kut?" He laughed, "Ni nayc kar'taylir, kaysh vhisur guuror a kar'tayl luubid jag." Of course his Mand'a wasn't perfect, it was a hard language to study but he was pretty sure he said 'I don't know, he seems like a smart enough guy.' Or as close as he could get with his limited knowledge of the language.
He looked in Isabelle's direction and visibly blushed as Neassa calls her his admirer. He did think they were an odd trio but not unlike his own companions in relation to him. "That's interesting, I would have never guessed." His attention was diverted to Curjas as he spoke up. He found the size of the Mandalorian's buy'ce to be a little distracting and very odd given the size of his body. Then again, as far as he knew that while Mandalorian culture was was predominately human there were aliens among their ranks. He nodded at the information given, despite the question never crossing his mind, "Thank you, I was wondering that." He spoke sincerely for the sole purpose of politeness.
He glanced once again in Isabelle's direction as she leaned against the door. "So is she...? I mean to say, what does, err, I mean what's her?" He stopped realizing he was making a fool of himself. "Does she have a...my book? Does Ami really have my book?"

A small, almost shy smile comes across the doctor's face with the playful punch on his shoulder. He nodded at the mention of Captain Draykon calling the shots. "Of course." In truth he knew who they had to thank, Karana had made it clear that it was Captain Draykon who had gathered this information for them. As to how he was uncertain of, but perhaps someone here knew, or Adrien would reveal his source himself.
He smiled again at the next question of how he found himself on smuggling crew, "You mean someone like me?" He held up his hand to stop any response. "It's a valid question, no shame in asking it. But it is a long story, and not terribly interesting I'm afraid." He glanced at the office where the remaining members of the Fel crew had gone, "In truth I'm still a bit on the outside, but I owe these people my life, Fel included. He was taken from us--them, and like to think I'm doing my part to help get him back." For all his knowledge he felt so lost in this world at times, he knew that Karana and Liya cared enough for him but he always felt like a bit of a burden, one that they had to make do with. "They've lost so much along the way, I couldn't just abandon them." His voice had begun to trail off, almost as if he had left the conversation and was thinking out loud. His eyes lingered on the office door for a moment longer before snapped back into the conversation.
"I'm sorry. It's been a long road and I suspect there is yet another long road ahead." He forced a smile. "What brought you to this crew? Captain Draykon's I mean."

He nodded to both Trent and Curjas, shaking the former's hand as it was offered. He wasn't offended by the implication that he should wear his glasses, he knew he should. "Oh, right." He muttered as he retrieved his glasses from his pocket and began to wipe the smudges away with his shirt. "Anyway, to answer your question, archaeology, xenolinguistics, and galactic history with a focus on ancient cultures. I also have a masters in museum studies, a bachelors in sociology, and various certifications." When he was done he slid his glasses up onto his nose and looked at the three people standing there, for the first time getting a clear look at the pilot. He continued on, "I also dabble in anthropology, cartography, and cryptology in my free time but I'm not formally trained." He looked around at each of them and began feeling a little self-conscious about what he hoped they didn't misconstrue at bragging. "I like reading and learning." He said sheepishly before clearing his throat.
"Anyway, I can't begin to say how grateful we are to you all for helping us find Captain Fel. I didn't expect that a rival smuggling crew would be so willing help us. It's fascinating really, back home most people assume that worlds beyond the Inner Rim are filled with nothing but a bunch of cut throats and thieves. And yet you invite us into your home to help us with something we've been doing alone for three years. And you didn't have to. I really can't thank you enough."

The doctor looked around the hangar with squinted eyes, seeing little other than the outline of people filled with blurs of color. But he did notice the Mandalorian from the Red Shift standing over to the side, the one in the red armor. She was hard to miss, a red blur in a big grey room. He wasn't sure if he should approach her or not but seeing as she was one of the only people he had yet to meet from the bar it seemed like a decent enough idea, after all this was a safe place right? Daniel smiled and began walking in her general direction which was further than he had estimated. His smile faded as he realized how he must look.
As he drew closer he could tell there were more people around her, maybe three people total. He walked up to her and very simply introduced himself. "Hello. My name is Dr. Daniel Logan. Pleased to meet you all." He squinted to get better looks at faces. "I'd like to thank you for inviting me and my friends here, wherever here is." He smiled somewhat awkwardly not sure what else to say.

Xeonon had since moved on to a holo of an ancient battle. Although his knowledge of recent history was good he was a little more foggy on the older stuff.
Turning he saw a bespectaled man extend his hand to shake it. Concious of the ffact his right hand was a prothstetic that could cause some damage Xeonon flipped over his left hand and shook Daniels rather awkwardly.Nice to meet you Daniel, Im Xeonon Solomon. One hell of a party Adrien threw eh? "Yeah this is something else." Awkward handshake aside Daniel turned to the holo and watched for a moment. "I believe this is the Battle of Cathar, from the Mandalorian Wars." Daniel grinned to himself watching the history as it unfolded. "I'm a bit of a history nerd." He laughed to himself at his 'joke' that only he found amusing.

There was a lot to unfold and everything had happened so fast that Daniel didn't even have time to react. First they were just standing by the door in the bar and then over by the table. Starting from the moment Daniel had introduced himself he was ignored by the majority of the people sitting there, flattered by an extremely attractive redhead over his book, then basically told by Liya that he was nothing but a glorified passenger to her; which if he was being honest with himself stung him a great deal and only further cemented the feeling that he didn't belong out here. But, of course as stated, he didn't have time to react before they were rushed off aboard a strange ship and flown to a strange canyon before landing in a strange hangar. Daniel had kept to himself for the entirety of the short trip, even away from Karana and especially Liya. But he didn't sulk, if he had learned anything out here it's that no one cared about your problems.
When the ship landed he was anxious to leave but waited at least for a few others to go ahead of him, long enough to have his attention stolen once again by 'Amy' in the most ego boosting way possible. She knew all of the right buttons to push too: his book, his theories, that he wasn't just some smart guy. He of course didn't know she was pushing his buttons, he was just extremely flattered once again and it felt good to be viewed as something other than a passenger signing the next paycheck.
Daniel wasn't used to this kind of attention, especially from someone like Amy, and though he didn't notice it himself she he was smiling like an idiot the whole time she was talking. "Well, I--I mean, I'm always available to uh talk to err I mean, you know, discuss my um-a work to willing ears." Willing ears? Really? He thought to himself just as she was about to walk away. Her last remark left him standing there with an even bigger, dumber smile.
He took his blaster off and set it on the table, noticing that everyone else seemed to put theirs in a special place. It made him really take in the lack of trust that everyone seemed to have but he wouldn't be that way. He refused to be that way. He took his glasses off and dropped them into his shirt pocket and with squinted eyes he slowly and carefully descended the ramp and into the very blurry hangar. He could see the woman who had made the announcements and greeted them and he took a moment to stop next to her with a smile, which was still slightly dumb. "Thank you so much for your hospitality." There was a genuine tone in his voice and with a polite nod he walked on into the hangar.

The rest of the crew hadn't arrived yet and truth be told Daniel had no idea how he had even gotten here but here he was, dressed in his only suit and apparently ready for a party. Just through the door there was music that he seemed to gravitate toward, but once he was inside he cared very little about the music, it was all background noise for the people here. He saw one particular person who didn't seem to be talking to anyone so he made his way over to him. "Hello, I don't believe we've met, I'm Daniel Logan." He smiled and extended his hand to the man.

Daniel was clearly out of his depth here, things were going on all around him and he was struggling to keep up with all of it, but there was one thing that caught his eye as it caught many of the male eyes around the bar, the gorgeous woman with the red head of hair making her way across the bar seemingly out of nowhere to the very table that Karana was sitting at, now with yet another purple haired stranger who he didn't even notice sit down. Who was he? Who was she? And why were they at that table? He followed Liya somewhat sheepishly after she had stopped him from making a huge mistake in drawing his blaster, he wasn't even really sure why he did that. Yes he was afraid, and that made him jumpy for sure and the breaking glass certainly startled him, so of course he reached for the blaster but he would have done more harm than good and he knew it. So he couldn't justify in his mind why he would reach for it even if he were scared. Besides the blaster on his hip was more for show than anything or at least it was just for show in his mind.
It didn't matter though, despite him beating himself up about it. Then again, he was sure someone noticed it and that in turn made him more nervous so he of course made the conscious decision to not touch the instrument of death on his hip, well not so much an instrument of death in his hand as a hazard for himself and everyone around him. Shooting stationary cargo containers was one thing, stationary cargo containers that weren't firing back that he couldn't kill and couldn't kill him, but these people were hardened criminals right? Or at least it could be assumed based on where they were. But that begged the question, who was the woman talking to the guy with purple hair at the table with Karana and this Draykon fellow? Was she a criminal too?
Was he overthinking all of this? Was he just thinking too much? Was it distracting him entirely? Liya pushing past him gave him at least some sort of reprieve from his thoughts as he could focus on her and not this place, and these people, at least for a moment. He was a little surprised to find out that Liya knew this person, the woman that is, or at least it seemed that way based on the way that she addressed her. Even knowing Liya for so long Daniel couldn't tell what sort of relationship these two had, it neither seemed good nor bad with just that tone, maybe both? He was so confused by all this, which was a strange feeling for him, but up until now he never had to get involved much with the crew's dealings outside the ship. Not since the Jekk, and he still had nightmares about those creatures. It made him visibly shutter just to think of them for the briefest of moments.
But the matter at hand, this table, with these people, and seemingly a lot of information being traded in the strangest of ways. Were these people all friends? Foes? Neither? Both? This was so far outside of his realm of comfort that he did the only thing he could think to do. He stepped forward with a cheery smile on his face and waved a hello to the table. "Hi guys, I'm Daniel Doctor Logan. Err. Daniel. Logan. Doctor. Uh. Doctor Daniel Logan." That was embarrassing, why on in the world would he do that?

Daniel had sort of just stayed next to Liya for this, he looked around at the dingy bar and decided that it was just best not to touch anything. He wasn't afraid of germs or anything, but it all looked so...greasy, and of course he didn't want to touch something that wasn't his for self-preservation reasons. Most of the people here looked to be a bit on the rougher side, with a few exceptions and there was even a Mandalorian near by, he'd always wanted to study their people first hand but they weren't exactly friendly to outsiders. Though the thought of speaking with one was exciting, he had even learned some of the language through his studies, but had never gotten the chance to hear it spoken aloud before.
Karana had made her way to the guy with the long hair who was sitting alone in a booth. They seemed familiar but it was pretty clear that she didn't want to be here with him, it kind of made Daniel wonder why they were listening to him at all. He also wondered why she would need back up to meet with someone who was a friend, especially when it appeared that he had come by himself, at least Liya didn't seem to recognize anyone, though she did seem to take interest in the Mandalorian as well.
He looked around and started to mimic other people in the bar, relaxing his posture a bit and even leaning against the wall for a second until he heard a loud laugh and saw this Adrien guy point in his direction. "Did he just?---" He asked Liya before Karana broke the glass and he reached for his blaster but was stopped by Liya's more steady hand as the bar fell silent and diverted their attention to Karana and Adrien.

Years ago Daniel stood in front a crew of strangers unsure of his place, unsure if he should even be there, and he knew they felt the same about him. But he also knew that he was responsible for things that had happened to them and it ate him up inside. So as he stood in front of this group, seeing the hurt in their eyes and what he took as resentment for him he made a promise, a vow.
It seemed like so long ago he had spoken those words and it had been a long trip for Daniel, a trial by fire so to speak. The crew had started out rather large when he first joined them but they had lost friends along the way, and now there were but three. In truth, as time went on Daniel thought of the crew as family more and more every day, though he didn't count himself as one of them. To Daniel he was still an outsider, a passenger riding along to help out when he was needed. He never wanted to ask his place because at this point he didn't want it to be awkward. So when Karana came onto the bridge with her newest lead Daniel sat silently, the wheels clearly turning as he thought of all the possible scenarios that could play out. He didn't know this Draykon guy but Karana seemed to trust him, but did Liya? He looked in Liya's direction to see if he could get a read on what she thought but his attention was diverted back to Karana when she said their destination. "The Skip?"
When they arrived to the Smuggler's Run it was like a window into the past, and he looked at the pilot's chair with glossy eyes. It was here that Jace had given him his first flying lesson. It was the first time he felt truly welcome on the ship, now just a shadow of a distant memory.

From the moment Karana burst onto the scene Daniel had been at a loss for words, not only was her entire rant complete news to him he didn't even know she was back from looking for Wade. He hadn't seen her in so long that he honestly wasn't sure if she was ever coming back, of course he always seemed to be out of the loop when it came to matters with the crew since he had only been a passenger up to this point, albeit an extended stay passenger. What she had said was a lot of useful information that he would have to store away for later, for example Daniel had been under the impression that Karana and the Captain were together but having revealed just now that that Wade left her in bed with a note only led Daniel to assume that this was not the case and that Wade and Karana were something. Like a daytime holodrama if he had ever seen one...which he had. And, though he knew it shouldn't, it did take some weight off his shoulders learning that Wade didn't want to come back since the doctor partially blamed himself for chunks of the crew missing.
It wasn't until Karana came over to him and slapped him on the back, which actually stung, she was pretty strong for such a slender woman, anyway it wasn't until she slapped him on the back that Daniel snapped out of his speechlessness and opened his mouth to answer both Kim and Karana but Kim interjected before he could say anything thing so he exhaled, closed his mouth and waited for his next opening. Which came surrounding a question about a brawl that Daniel had no knowledge of so the three of them just stood there staring at each other.
Daniel stared at Kim, then at Karana.
Karana stared at Daniel, then at Kim.
Kim stared at Karana, the at Daniel.
Until finally Wrench broke the awkward silence. And boy was it awkward. But not nearly as awkward as the next bit where Karana beat on Liya's door to find her room vacant and then blocked the exit for Daniel and Kim as though they had done something wrong. And when she asked what happened the only response that Daniel had was to shrug nervously with his mouth gaping open trying to speak as she shook his head. And then the droid saved the silence again by broadcasting the HoloNet News, though ironically the answers they were looking for only sent the two women at each other's throats, literally, while Daniel stood back not sure what to do. When Karana lunged it was like the person he knew wasn't there anymore, she had so much rage and hate, not at all like the person he had met two years ago.
He looked back and forth between them and knew that he was probably going to regret this decision but did what he had to before Karana killed this woman. He reached out and cupped Karana's shoulder just as she had loosened her grip on Kim. "Let her go, Karana." He spoke gently but firmly, making sure that she knew it was more than just a request but he knew that there was something strange going on with her, like she had this unnatural strength and aggression from something. "Please, this isn't you." His tone was softer this time and he placed his free hand on the blaster in an attempt to get Karana to lower it as he pleaded with her to let go of the woman. He turned to Kim as he tried to calm Karana, "I don't know the Liya you're referring to, but like she said, our Liya is very much alive and we're not leaving her behind." He turned to Karana, "We're not leaving anyone else behind." He started to push down on the blaster, hoping that she would give in and let him move the barrel from Kim's side.
"Karana." He tried to get her to turn her attention to him. "Karana. Look at me." His tone was still calm and gentle as he tried to defuse the situation. "We're going to get Liya back." He looks at Kim, "Our friend is not the person you knew, and even if she was, that was three years ago. A lot can happen in three years."

"You're fine, I've been scaring a little too easy these days." He said laughing at himself as he returned her smile, which he kept through her explanation that she was an old friend of Liya's. "Unfortunately I don't, I'm fairly new here myself. I was heading to see if Jace has an extra set of clothes but I'm pretty new here myself so I don't know which cabin is his either." He looked around the small corridor and then back to Kim. "Process of elimination?" He shrugged his shoulders and adjusted his glasses by pushing them up further with his index finger.
He started to walk toward one of the doors, "Honestly I don't know, like I said I'm pretty new here but she's been nice enough to me in the few interactions I've had with her." He had a bit of an amused grin on his face as he stopped in front of the first door and turned to her. "Uptight about military protocol? That sounds like a story."
This might be his best chance to learn something about the people he was on this mission with and it might give him a little insight on how to connect with at least one of them and not feel like such an outsider. Despite his fears of guns, fighting, the very real and terrifying monsters that are scattered across the galaxy, and just space in general, Daniel was excited about being here.

{ The Red Cred, Crew Quarters }
*If Daniel was startled, so was the woman on the other side of the door. Kim half-stepped, half-jumped to the other side of the passageway, putting her back to the wall, and stared at the professor in shock. No one had told her that there were other passengers aboard The Red Cred, aside from the ones that had rescued/kidnapped her last night. She would have immediately assumed the bespectacled man was an intruder, if he had not been quite obviously not a threat, and very much at home on the ship.*
*The middle-aged Palawan human woman wasn't particularly short by human standards, although she was a full half-foot shorter than Liya. Her long, black hair was pulled back and tied together tightly at the back of her neck, before being allowed to flow down her back, and her white kimono was fastened with a brilliant blue sash around her waist.*"Hi." *She tried to sound casual.* "I'm Kim." *She tilted her head slightly to the left. The stranger didn't look dangerous, but he didn't look like the type of person who would be on a spacer crew, either. Something was wrong. She did what she did best: play dumb, keep talking, and look for information.* "Jace didn't mention that anyone else was aboard." Much to his surprise the woman standing in front of him was just as startled as he was, though Daniel was way outside of his element here so despite her seeming to not be trouble he still felt somewhat leery of her. It was a strange feeling for him to immediately express distrust in someone, but beyond the core was a frightening place for an academic who had lead a rather privileged life, never having left his comfort zone, only traveling beyond the Core Worlds with people whom he knew personally. The spacer's life was something he never thought he would find himself in. "I'm not surprised, they probably forgot about me." He joked. "I'm Daniel." He stood silently with an awkward grin after he had introduced himself wondering if he should try to find out if she was an intruder on the ship or just another passenger. That was until he realized that if she were an intruder and he poked his nose where it didn't belong that she was probably well trained enough to make sure he didn't tell anyone he had discovered her given that if that were the case she had been well trained enough to infiltrate the ship without detection thus far. Then again he had seen her face and even spoken with her, albeit briefly, so if she were an intruder he has probably already signed his own death warrant. "So.." He broke his silence trying to think of something to say, "I've spilled stimcaf all over myself and I need to change." He said rather awkwardly before he took a step back, "But I need to see if Jace has another set of clothes I can borrow."

It seemed to Daniel that he had been alone on the ship for days, he hadn't even spoken to any one since Dante pulled him aside for some target practice and once Dante was gone he stopped that nonsense. He didn't anticipate needing to use a weapon again, the first time was such an extreme situation that it called for an exception. Instead he sunk his focus into his work, not just the research on the Eye, but on many projects that he had not had the time to work on at the museum. The one downside to his isolation was the silence, typically he had someone to bounce theories and ideas off of but here he was just alone locked away in his makeshift study and it was wearing on him. He removed his glasses and set them down then leaned back and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He was exhausted but was still afraid to sleep because every time he closed his eyes he saw those things, the Jekk. He looked around at all of his notes and sighed as he put on his glasses. Held up a drawing of what he speculated the Eye looked like based on ancient descriptions and stared at it for a moment, "Where are you?" He said quietly as he pondered. "I need some caf."
He set the drawing down and stood with a stretch, picked up a book, then opened his door and stepped out into the hall, and then onto the lift. When the lift stopped one floor up he stepped off not realizing how late it was until he had actually made it past the passenger cabins, but he made a mental note to make sure he moved more quietly as he approached the crew quarters since someone might be asleep. If it were earlier he might have found it odd that he hadn't passed anyone, but given the time he assumed that everyone was either asleep or up in the cockpit if they were back from whatever it was they were doing that is, though he assumed that by now they had to be. As he reached the second lift he hoped that it was there so he didn't have to wait to cross.
Luckily it was and he got through to the lounge without having to wait. He set his book down on the table, then turned on the stimcaf machine and sat down to read while the machine worked it's magic. The book he had chosen was actually a relic of the Old Republic called Studies of the Force which was one of the many subjects that Daniel had found himself interested in learning more about. His interest in the force was purely academic of course, he wasn't even force sensitive, but he the force had shaped the galaxy and continues to shape it today which makes it of great historical importance for everyone. He had a series of books like this, from the Old Republic, that he had read through a handful of times each.
He wasn't more than ten pages in when the machine dinged that his caf was done, so he set the book down and got him a cup. He took a sip and sat down again then went back to his book with his cup in hand. It wasn't until he checked his watch to see what time it was on Coruscant that he realized how sleep deprived he actually was, turning his hand and dumping his scalding hot caf all down the front of him. He held back a scream but stood up very quickly to pull his shirt away from his chest. "Son-of-a-" He cut himself off as he looked around from a towel or something to clean up his mess. "Well at least I'm awake now." He said under his breath with slight irritation. This was the only shirt that he had right now, his supplies from home hadn't arrived yet but Jace had given him a shirt before, maybe he would again. He sat his book down on the far side a the table away from the liquid and then walked to the door with to the crew quarters and opened it.
Much to his surprise as the door opened there stood a woman, whom he had never seen, in a white robe. He stood staring at her in confused silence with a hint of embarrassment for a moment before he opened his mouth and in an equally confused tone said, "Uhm, hi," His brow furrowed and he darted around to see if there was someone else with her, "who are you?"

Daniel, what are you up to? You've got your hands full offline as well, are you still interested in 'rejoining' us? Wanna wait until you have more time? Where are you on all of this? I'm still in, I just haven't had an opportunity to write recently and before that I honestly didn't know where we were or if there was a place I could jump in. Let me know though and I'll throw a post up.

I'm not sure where or if I fit into this story anymore but I have an idea for how I can still be useful to the crew if I'm welcome to back, I can pitch it if you'd like. Go for it. I was hoping Dante would offer an opinion on the status of our hunt for the Eye and where you might fit in. As for this I was kind of thinking that I could have kept to myself on the ship, in deep study mode, locked in some room and oblivious to what is going on...unless there has been something going on that would make that impossible.
