Faina's confusion is evident when Nicademus speaks of Xeonon, not only because the tense he uses is the present rather than the past, but also because there seems to be a lack of the anger or disappointment she would expect to hear in his voice given that Xeonon, in the end, betrayed Nicademus, a crime he paid for with his death. Her own tone is a cautious, mildly perplexed one as Faina replies, agreeing as she suddenly recalls feeling a familiar presence earlier, one that she had not quite been able to definitively pin down, "He taught me well, yes. It is a pity, though, that, in the end, he seemed to forgot all that he taught me of loyalty."
Unable to resist the urge to satisfy the curiosity that Nicademus' tone incited within her, Faina asks in a hesitant voice, "You said Xenon advised you as I did? That must have been . . . before his betrayal? Do you . . . Were you ever able to learn why he turned on you in the end? It never made sense to me," Faina admits, a furrow appearing between her brows indicating that the subject is one as difficult for her as she imagines it must be for Nicademus himself. Despite everything all the lies that Xeonon had concocted to hide the truth from the Empire it still burned him to hear how Faina thought of him. She had been the first Imperial Knight he had inducted into the order after his taking the mantle of Grandmaster. Indeed he had trained her in the few aspects that her parents had neglected in their own training. Still this was the price he must pay in order to still serve the Empire. To serve Nicademus.Nicademus falls silent, gazing out at the fleet as Faina asked her question. The Emperor sighs deeply, turning to gaze upon his chosen Grandmaster and one of the greatest champions that guarded his person daily. The truth needed to be told. If anyone needed to know it, it was Faina.Xeonon never betrayed me, Faina. He never betrayed his oath, the Imperial Knights, nor the Imperial cause. What is known widely as his treason against me was to preserve the integrity and status of the Imperial Knights... for if he hadn't, I fear that they would not exist today.Nicademus slowly walks down from where he had stood before, coming closer to Faina as he continued speaking.Upon that very day, Xeonon warned me of a plot against me. A plot, concocted by several Imperial Knights and the then Grandmaster Antares Draco. When I landed on the ravaged planet of Muunilinst, they struck against me and attempted to assassinate me. Many of those traitors died at Xeonon's blade and by the firearms of my Stormtroopers placed in sniping positions.Nicademus glances away for a moment, turning to the side and looking off into nothing for a moment. Yet, in his eyes, the man was reminiscing on that very same day. If Xeonon had not done what was necessary, either the Imperial Knights would not be here today or Nicademus would not be alive to see this vision of his come true.By his request, I concocted the story of Xeonon betraying the Imperial Knights. Of how Antares Draco, the real traitor, and his confederates died in protecting me from the most villainous of treasons. All for the sake of protecting not only myself but the Imperial Knights themselves. It is by this sacrifice that the Imperial Knights are stronger today, Faina. It is by this sacrifice that they were preserved and their traitorous Grandmaster eliminated before the whole order was corrupted!Nicademus then curtly nods to the Praetorians as all but one depart the room. The Emperor curtly nods once more, an indication for the lone Praetorian to remove his helmet and break his oath of silence. He knew what came next would certainly shock Faina greatly. And it is the very essence of that unselfish and honor-bound duty that he, Xeonon Solomon , has returned to my side, to protect me as he did before, to advise me as he did before, and continue with the oath he gave me so very long ago, Faina. It is because of the two of you here today that I feel safe and that I feel well advised. That I know my son will become a model Imperial Knight and a well-versed successor. And that my Empire will certainly endure for many generations to come. From the moment the Emperor had uttered the truth he felt as though someone had punched him in the gut. He trusted Nicademus to do the right thing but to tell the truth, this truth had been unthinkable. It would bring into question too many things should word get out that his execution was faked.
Head still spinning as the other Praetorians left the room, Xeonon with clumsy fingers removed his helmet for the second time today. Holding it in both hands Xeonon looked down at the ground ashamed. This was not the man that Faina had known. His face pale and skinny with more lines on it that she would remember the only part of him that looked the same was his eyes. Brown eyes that slowly rose to look at her. Hello Grandmaster Nikulin

A blade is only useful when there is someone on the other side sir. That is why there are lots of sayings of beating swords into plows. Although he felt there would never be total peace as there will always be people trying to rig the system in their favour someday Xeonon wished that there would be no major parties to oppose the Empire. I have always felt that the first Empire under Palpatine failed because he held it to tightly. He sowed fear, and used extreme force to subjugate populations which made people fight even harder against him. Just because a local Moff is bored it doesn't mean that they can execute a man for stealing to feed his family. All the leaders are already disciplined and will do as you say, they may grumble and complain but ultimately your word is the final one.
The only reason the Victory Without War campaign failed was because of self important Moffs who wanted to return to a more militarist approach to the Empire. By turning those plows back into swords they nearly brought ruin to the Empire within the galaxy.
Octavian wont be you. He wont need to be. I would hope he could be both, ready for war but wanting peace. The only thing you can do to influence his future is guide him and ensure he is educated with what he needs to rule.

By all means Ren come on over to Serreno. There is lots of room for you to come over. Maybe bring some information about your false brothers or FO personel?
Come on over Zaden. Lots of room on the planet

As always Xeonon found it odd that the most powerful man in the galaxy would ask for his advice. It was true that they had known each other for a great many years but the lack of formality was at odds with the way he had been trained. Experience he assumed. Not only had he been a part of several Empires but prior to Nicademus arriving in the Deep Core he had tried to hold the Imperial Remnants together. It was a stroke of luck he arrived. A stroke of luck that had led to this moment.
I have known you for how many years now? If there is thing I have learned about you over all these years it is that you are a conqueror. After this battle once the Galactic Alliance falls it will be a different universe with no one to oppose you in the same fashion.
Gathering his thoughts Xeonon remained silent for a full minute trying to figure out the best way to phrase his thoughts.
Peace. There will be a lot of worlds out there without protection, and the lawlessness will creep into those systems. Not only that but shortages, hoarding, famine. I have seen some of the more forceful ways those in the Empire try to ensure command and respect over their worlds. Force is needed but too much of it and it will lead to anger, resentment and rebellion. You studied Jagged Fel correct? He had a doctrine called Victory Without War. Once this war is truly finished you, we he motioned to the fleet assembled out the viewport, need to reach out to those worlds leaders and bring them peacefully into this Empire. Those that say no will eventually change their minds even if it takes a generation. At this point we can only become stronger the longer the Empire lasts.

Xeonon Solomon On one of the observation decks, Nicademus gazes out at the gathering fleet. The largest to be seen since the Unknown Region Campaigns and the heart of the Third Galactic Civil War. The Emperor leans forward, placing his forearm against the viewport as his eyes examined the drifting warships; Pellaeons, Imperials, Resurgents and a myriad of support craft. After a while, his eyes glance at the Praetorian Guards present, the silent champions and protectors of the Emperor's person. He turns to those present and waves at them, dismissing them all save one. The champion of them all. They did not argue, they did not retort, the others simply filed out and went to guard the doorway into the observation room. Nicademus looks at the undisputed champion among the Praetorians. You may remove your helmet and break your oath of silence, Xeonon. I could use an old colleague of mine to speak with. Once the others had left the room Xeonon removed his helmet. Underneath he was pale from the lack of sun, the shiny red of the armour in deep contrast of his white skin. No longer did he look like the Xeonon of before, after the proceedings that led to his "death" he had hired a discrete man to alter his face. Again. Bald he only wore a paid of sideburns that ran from the top of his ears to just before his chin, appearing the whitest shade of blonde almost matching his skin tone. Placing his helmet under his right arm Xeonon salutes Nicademus by bringing his left first up to his chest.
Looking beyond the man he saw the many ships outside and nearly burst with pride. Since a young age Xeonon had strove to help bring Imperial rule to the galaxy. It was sorely needed, and they were close to achieving that goal. Closer than any Imperial had come in living memory. What do you need of me sir? It was the first time Xeonon had spoken to another person outside the helmet in a long time and it put some strain on his vocal cords. The vow of silence was necessary, if anyone had found out about him still being alive the Emperor would have a few questions to answer. Even amoung his fellow Praetorians he had never spoken outside the voice modulation in his suit and even then sparingly.

One of the oldest functioning battle groups within the resurgent Empire a broadside cruiser, Tartan Cruiser and Imperial II Frigate, these three ships were part of the Fel Empire and part of the Imperial Remnant inside the Deep Core. Indeed each was named after a member of the formal royal family of the Empire. Hanging about on the outside of the fleet they ran regular patrols on the edge of the system. With this many ships in orbit if word was to get out of them being there the Galactic Alliance would know something was coming. The Fel battle group was joined by a CC-7700 frigate, each of the four commanders getting a feel for each others style as they prepped for the attack.
Since rejoining the Empire Xeonon had felt more at peace than he had in a long time. It was odd to watch yourself die, or at least a clone of yourself but it was not the first time that he had died. It was for the good of the Empire. Another traitor and war criminal had been hunted down and dispatched. The people of Muunilisnt given closure.
Walking the corridor outside the quarters of the Nicademus on the Ad Gloriam he wished to be beside the man but had been expressly been told no. The Imperial Knights had the duty of protecting him today. As such the Six Guards stood silent and ready their armour bright and shiny in the incandescent lights inside the hallways of the ship. Two were posted on either side of the hallway and a single one outside the Emperors room. None spoke, and all were alert ready for the slightest hint of danger. Danger Xeonon doubted would arise.
