Having departed the training area, Luxeria made her way through the academy, eyes watching all that passed. She wanted to begin getting a solid handle on the students and those closest to graduating and ready to become apprentices. While she had a couple in mind, it helped to keep her mind open to all those available to train. While she only had plans to take one, she couldn't deny the possibility that she may take two, especially if there weren't enough masters for those who were worthy enough to be granted a master.
Behind her walked Umbra, keeping a few steps behind and scanning the area for the chance that someone might make a move against her, despite the fact she really didn't need him. But he had been given to Luxeria by Gavin to aid her in any way she saw fit. Considering that it was always accompanying her, it took it as a possible task for it to complete.

As the pair sat back down, Nidana took a deep breath and calmed back down. She could feel and see the sincerity in Geralt's actions. But it had caught her off guard. The last time she had expressed an academic passion to someone, it was her former Jedi Master, and he shut that down very fast. "Thank you for listening. It means a lot to me." She was very close to him now, looking deep into his eyes. Their noses almost touching she felt an almost instinctual pull to get even closer. But before either party could act on that instinct their data pads buzzed with an important message from Gavin. It seemed the final preparations for an 'off world training exercise' had been finished, and all the students were to meet in the hanger packed and ready to go ASAP. Nidana had pulled away a bit to check the message, though only one handed as she was still holding Geralt's in her other one. "Oh. Well, I guess I'll see you on the ship." She squeezed his hand before she got up to start heading to her dorm room. But about to paces away she turned around, blushing as she rushed back to Geralt and gave him a soft kiss on the check and whispered in his ear, "Thanks again!" But then she ran off to her room still blushing deeply. It was intoxicating, being so close to Nidana. He could feel his heart rate increasing being this close to her. He was lost in her mesmerizing gaze...he wanted to kiss her. A sinking feeling befell him as his datapad buzzed, however. A new training exercise was approved and they were being summoned. Clenching his jaw in frustration, he felt her squeeze his hand as she began to leave. Without warning though, she abruptly turned about and kissed him softly on the cheek. Frozen mid smirk, the young man merely watched her run off. Dazed and lost in thought, the Sith trainee was jolted back to the present as his datapad buzzed again. It was time to get ready for an off world training exercise. Interesting, he thought to himself. Maybe he could be paired with Nidana...? Not trying to dwell on such thoughts, Geralt made his way back to his room to prepare for the upcoming training session...

Xasros and Aurra meet up with each other once they were both done with what they were doing. The two of them walked the hallways whispering to each other about their plans to prove that they were better than the other students at the academy.
I'll take on the bald one and knock him down a peg or two. Make sure he knows that we are the top dogs in the academy.
Sounds like fun, Xas. I think I'll try something with a little more tact than a brawl.
The two of them smiled and continued on their way.

Having spent most of her time moving about the academy, she was almost ready to call it for he day and head back to her ship to begin her trip back to Mustafar. It was then that she noticed two new students that she had yet to see: red Zantac and Twi’lek. A small smirk came to her lips as she began to walk up to them when she noticed them speaking to one another. Curious as to the conversation, she let herself move pass them with barely even a glance in their direction. It was then that she heard what they were speaking about, causing her to smirk all the more. Rather arrogant by the little bit she heard in thinking they were the best students in the academy. On the plus side, they at least seemed in a mode to prove rather than just claim it.
Stopping just a few steps after passing them, she glanced back at the duo as they continued on but said nothing to them. Perhaps she could hold off her departure for a time and see if they were able to make due on their claims. She had already seen Gavin’s students in action and she could only truly gauge them by seeing them work.
Umbra had stopped a few steps ahead of Luxeria when he noticed she had come to a halt and noticed her looking at the two students.
::Should I retrieve them for you?::
Luxeria shook her head as her smirk grew wider. "No. For now, we’ll keep an eye on them. But do be ready. We may bring bedding your skills before it’s all over with." With a dark laugh, she began to follow the students from a safe distance.

((Moved from Landing Pads))
Nel followed quickly, though given her position, she missed the change in expression. Though it was quick to begin with, so even if she was next to him, there was a very strong chance she'd have missed it anyways. She listened raptly as he led her into the Academy proper, nodding to show she understood. The fact they were a secretive group and their name were all she had known, and for the life of her, the Zabrak couldn't remember where she'd even learned that much.
Still, the history lesson was appreciated. Knowledge was knowledge and she wasn't sure how this would be useful in the long term, but the fact he wanted to even share it with her meant a lot. She paused mentally at that last sentence though. From knowledge and the understanding that came with it... That certainly sounded like a group she could get behind.
Her head canted slightly to the side as a thought occurred to her though. "How do we know this group follows that same philosophy though, Master?"
She didn't want to say it out loud, and so brought it up through the Force with him; doing it so often lately seemed to be helping her, as it was stronger then before. Still, it was worth it to ask more privately, as the wrong person hearing could lead to bad news, she was almost certain. Minding her tongue, so to speak.

Having returned from Mustafar, Gavin had left Krokaa to do his own thing. Normally, he moved back to visit his students in the training area, but today, he had other things that he wanted to get done. Making his way toward the forge, Gavin carried a large container holding the obsidian he had gathered. Opening the lid, he began spreading out some of the pieces before moving over to the forge, lighting the fire to get the forge warm. Never had he tried shaping the volcanic glass, so it was a new experience, making him glad he brought a lot back.
He looked over the pieces, the shape of the blade taking shape in his mind once more. Like Raiju, it was something of great elegance, something that he had put extra work into. It was also interesting that while Raiju was mostly white and gold, this new sword would be black and crimson in coloration. He looked forward to giving it life and seeing what it was capable of. Due to his studies, it was said that obsidian blades were far sharper and smoother than those of metal, capable of having a razor edge at only a molecule wide. Very fitting considering the blade was meant to be small and thin, more lined towards precision jabs and strikes over slashes, though it could do that job just as well.
Once the forge was hot, Gavin took a piece of the glass with a pair of tongs and put in this flames. As the black glass became red hot, he removed it and began working at it with the hammer, making softer hits than he would with metal, just to be on the safe side. Once he was sure it wouldn't break he began increasing the strength of his swings, occasionally placing the piece back into the fire every so often to keep it hot.

Gavin let out a frustrated yell as he reached down, taking hold of the hot, cracked glass of obsidian and threw it against the wall, ignoring the searing pain that immediately coursed through his hand. He had spent hours working on trying forge and shape the sword, working into the early hours of the morning. This had been his fifth attempt at shaping it, only for it to crack and break off into pieces. He knew that this was going to be a new experience, that much trial and error were going to be done in trying to create this blade. Yet, that still did quench his anger as he planted his hands upon the table, eyes closed as he worked to try and calm down.
The minutes passed as he cursed himself. He had to get ahold of himself. This wasn't going to be an easy task so there was no need for these outbursts. But he knew that this blade would be different than the rest, only because it would be a gift. It had to be perfect, a true sign of his dedication to his craft. Otherwise, he might have as well used just any old material with any design. No, this blade was meant to be special, and he would ensure that it came out as he envisioned it. It just meant it would take more time to find the proper method for forging it. He had a few months before he intended to return to Ambria, but if it took a little longer, then so be it. Nothing worth making ever came quick or easy.
As his mind began to settle, the pain in his hand finally caught up with him as he looked at it. Giving off a sigh, he focused himself as his left hand rose and began to use the force to heal his right. Slowly, but surely, the blistered, red skin began to heal, coupled with his quicker healing ability. Ten minutes of work and he was back to normal. For now, though, he knew he needed to rest. It was back to the grindstone for his students during the day and back here at night. Being exhausted did no favors for either task. With that, he cleaned up his mess, killed the fire and departed for his chambers.

Another day of training came to a close and Gavin found himself back in the forge. He had been waiting, itching to get back here to start again, hoping that the former day's failure and frustration wouldn't be repeated. He had done further research on the matter and looked to try a different approach than what he was used to. Gathering up the broken pieces from his first attempt, he put them in a bowl, knowing he could still use them. From there, he began breaking up the volcanic glass until it was nearly nothing but dust. It was best this way as heating obsidian, as he found out, took a lot of heat. And to melt it down to cast a weapon would require even greater heats.
Once all was in place, he set the bowl to begin heating as he moved to another spot. Now was the time to make a mold for the weapon. Unlike other things, obsidian had to be tended to very carefully, not letting it cool to fast. gathering up some sand, he began working on his cast, packing it with the right materials and making its shape. He worked out every little detail, from burning the cast with a torch to add a layer of carbon as well as barely packing the very edges compared to the rest to allow air to properly escape. This was just as much a delicate process as forging but in its own ways.

Gavin sat against the table, rubbing his eyes in frustration. Once again, he was met only by failure. If it wasn't one thing, it was another. In his first attempt to cast the blade, he had discovered that melting it as he had altered the color drastically, turning nearly transparent with an amber hue. Clearly simply heating it changed its make-up, meaning that obsidian was created in a far different manner than merely extreme heat. As such, he was forced to go through the process again, putting in additives to turn it back to its black color he desired it to be. It was quite the trial and error just to get the mixture right. But that wasn't the only aspect of his failure. From the mold not being packed right and messing up the cast, to it creating bubbles as it was cooling, nothing seemed to go right. Only once did he feel like he had gotten somewhere, but once again, his hopes were shattered as the newly crafted blade was fragile and cracked shortly after he pulled it out.
Once again, he was back to square one, having to look at things from yet another perspective. This time, he had been able to contain himself so as to not start hurling the pieces across the room, though he was no less angered at the wasted time. He really hoped that all his effort to get the material and make these plans didn't go to waste simply because it couldn't be used. Another ten minutes passed as he stood there just looking at the sad excuse of a blade resting on the edge of the forge, calming himself just enough that he could finish cleaning up and call it for the night. There were still a few more options left that he was aware of, so he couldn't give up just yet. He just needed to be patient.

Day three had come around with the rising and fall of the sun. Yet another attempt to be made in crafting his blade. So far, forging and casting the sword had resulted in failure to the highest degree. At no point had he made any headway in his work which left him constantly frustrated. But he refused to give in. Not only for the reason he was making it but for the sake of the challenge it brought him. He refused to accept that it couldn't be accomplished. He would find a way and he would write about its creation for those who wished to do to the same.
If he couldn't heat the glass to get what he wanted, he needed to step back in time and try a more primitive approach. Taking a larger chunk of the glass, Gavin sat on a chair with a smaller, broken piece of obsidian that fit into his hand. Taking a deep breath, he began beating it against the larger piece, looking to carve it into shape. It would be a very long process, but perhaps this one would show greater promise.

The hours had passed by, and for now, all seemed to be working out. Trying to carve and shape the blade by simply beating it with another piece of obsidian was far from an easy task and would undoubtedly take much longer than he would have liked, but for now, it proved to be the most promising approach. By now, after so many hours, He had, at the very least, worked out the major shape and length. But that was just the broader overview of what needed to be done. The hard and tedious part was about to begin. He needed to break it until it was thin enough, then shape the edges. One small misstep and the whole thing would be ruined. Patience couldn't have ever been more key.
But what he had accomplished was enough for the night. Gathering up his things, he put everything on the table and headed out to get some sleep.

Making his way into the forge, Gavin took a seat at the table that held his things. Resting up against the table's edge, he took the obsidian he had been working on and began to once again beat another piece of hardened glass against it. He had to keep his mind focused and goal in mind, but he needed to relax and take it easy at the same time. Get too focused and aggressive, and he risked damage to his work. That, he wouldn't allow. And so the hours went on, working to slowly chisel it like a stone.

Gavin stood over the table, hands clenching the messed up obsidian with a fire burning in his eyes. Once again, his attempt had led to failure. He had been slow and careful, yet it didn’t seem to matter in the end. The overall shape had been easy, but making the fine, smooth edges was another matter entirely. What should have been forming to be a fine razor sharp edge left nothing but jagged shards. Even more was the fact that some of the ages were actually breaking off. It had only been a few days, sure, but it felt like he had been wasting so much time.
Taking a deep breath, he left everything as it was as he headed out for the night. He had become too frustrated to even straighten up. Hopefully with a little sleep he could figure out the answer.

Days went by, filling out the rest of the week, leaving Gavin sitting up against the wall just staring out into space. Each day had been met by failure, the streak continuing on with seemingly no end. At this point, it seemed like nothing would work and the sword would remain just an idea. That final thought was the most infuriating of them all. This was meant to be a gift, a sign of gratitude for all that had been done for him and it was one of the largest obstacles he had ever faced. Frustration was slowly giving way to hopelessness and the acceptance he'd either have to find something else, think up a new idea, or otherwise allow such gratitude to remsin unexpressed.
The minutes ticked on as he remained still and lost in thought. It was only a single sigh that showed any sign he was still alive as he made an inward apology, the image of Mariah floating there. As it did, he thought on her and what saw, his eye slowly growing wider with realization. She was someone who has determined and wouldn't give so easily, especially against something so trival. As such, he couldn't either. He wouldn't. He would make this sword, one way or another.
As late as it was, it was best to wait to begin until the following day. But he now knew what needed to be done, the pieces seeming to easily fall in place now. The sword would find completion as the real work was about to start.

Stepping into the forge, Gavin wasted no time in igniting the forge to start warming up. He had given it much thought throughout the day and finally knew the proper way to handle the obsidian. It would be a combined method, both forging and carving. The heat would allow him to cut and shape the blade better than simply beating it with another piece of obsidian while cold. And if he took it slower than before, the hammering to forge it would be fine as well. However, that was all based around a single reality, one he had attempted to avoid up until now: infusing it with the Force. He was not beyond using the Force to strength a blade, but they were always his. This was meant to be a gift for Mariah and he didn't want to put anything of himself into like that. If it was to be imbued with the Force, it would be done by her.
However, he was out of options and time was slowly running out. It had to be done. In the end, if she desired to do so, his power could easily be replaced by her own. It was this final reality that convinced him to follow this path. Still, he wanted to keep this blade as directed to her as possible, so he closed his eyes, eliminating all thought except for her. He saw her in great detail, the angles of her face, the fire of her eyes, the gleam of her hair. But even more was what he saw within her: determination, passion, an unwavering flame. It had been evident ever since that first day they met within the academy all those years ago. And now, he would direct what he knew and saw into the blade.
With the image locked with his mind, he focused the Force through him and into his hands, into the air surrounding the area and channeled it into the obsidian he had in his hands. Placing it into the fire, his work began.

The days passed on, coursing through another week of work. With his new approach, everything was coming together nicely. Bit by bit, he'd hammer, then chisel off pieces of the obsidian. But this was only truly achieved by imbuing the Force into it, altering the molecular structure of the volcanic glass into a reinforced lattice. Already was he halfway through the blade's shape. Another week and it would be finished, allowing him to move onto the hilts and guard if it could be called that.
Each day, he reworked the image of Mariah in his mind, keeping it fresh. As the session progressed, with each chip and hit of the hammer, he reflected on the times spent with her, the conversations passed between them, his mind remembering everything well. It would be a weapon that complimented her and her style. He only hoped that she'd be happy with it.

A little over another week had passed as Gavin continued his work. He had easily gotten himself back into his old groove of forging weapons, finding joy and peace within his work. Crafting weapons was an art form, something that revealed the heart, soul, and mind of the creator, just as any art piece did. From larger broadswords of his early days in finding his passion for it to the lighter blades of katana and rapiers, all else faded from his mind, everything except the required thoughts and feelings for it. He even remembered the one sword he crafted that took a full month to create, not once stopping to sleep or eat. Shiento had been a simple blade, but powerful thanks to the work put into it. But such times had long past and the type of blade he desired to wield had changed. It was shown in Raiju which was built to function as a one-handed sword of average length. He had other ideas that he needed to look into once he was finished with his current work.
He had come to finish crafting the blade, seeking to slowly cool it as it was glass. It had been shaped to a thin, double-edged blade. While still needing to be hardened, tempered and polished, it already shone a bit and had a sharp edge. It was also just a bit shorter than the average blade, showing that it would be more focused upon speed and precision, though it would still be strong enough to face swords such as his own. Having a vat of oil nearby and ready, he began to process of heating the blade up to harden and quenching it. This process went on for a little while before reaching a point he was satisfied with, before switching to tempering to reduce the brittleness of the weapon.
With it going into the weekend and no training for the next couple days, he had no reason to head to bed normally to prepare for the next's day training. As such, he spent all his time until the early hours when the light would rise and begin the day anew. This allowed him to move to the process of cleaning and polishing the blade as well as sharpening and smoothing out its edge. His eyes were already growing heavy when he finished his work, holding the finished blade in his hand carefully like it was a baby. He smiled as the shining, reflective black surface. It was smooth and without blemish, a perfect piece of art. Though it didn't have a hilt, he took hold of the tang and slashed out behind him before bringing it down in front of him. It was light in comparison to his normal weapons, which would typically mean it was weaker. However, he knew it was just as strong as anything he ever created. The sharp edges rang out as it cut through the wind, making him smile.
Wrapping the blade in a cloth, he set it off to the side, making his way to his room to sleep, the next step is the hilt. At most, he'd need another week and it'd be ready.

The last week of work fell upon Gavin with the blade finally completed. And now that the hard part was out of the way, he could relax and carry on with the easier work. He started with the hilt. Taking the onyx he got from the Dark Obelisk, he began carving and shaping the mineral, turning it into a small shaft, enough for a little more than a single hand to hold it. He worked to shape and polish it so that it was smooth, shiny as the blade and completely black. It took a couple of days to get it just right, but when he was finished, the ending result pleased him greatly.
Then came the guard and piece that held the crystal. Having a little bit of Songsteel left from making Raiju, he was able to forge the metal into a small round section that held the blade and hilt against each other. Alongside it, he took some of the metal, colored it in a crimson color, and wrapped it down the hilt to give it an extra touch of elegance. There was little else left, in its creation other than putting it together. Soon, it would be ready.

The final day came as Gavin worked to assemble the pieces of the blade. Sliding the guard over the tang, he locked it into place over the bade as it extended down into it a bit in the place where the crystal would be held. From there, he set the fiery red lava crystal in place but didn't work to tune it and imbue it with the Force. That would remain a task for Mariah to do if she chose to do so. Finally, the hilt slide into place over the tang, which was almost the width of the blade and almost the full length of the hilt. Mounting it in place, all had been done and the sword complete. There was but a final task that he needed to do: give it a name.
He moved it around in his hands, taking in its completed form, feeling its weight and balance, which seemed to be near perfect. It didn't take long for the perfect name to be granted until it. As long as she didn't wish to change it, it would forevermore take the name of Luxu: the Radiant Shadow. He smiled as he thought the name fitting. Picking up the scabbard he had made of wood and stained in a deep red, he slid it into place, then wrapped it in a crimson silk sheet.
Cleaning up his work, he made sure everything was back to the way it was before the project started, the remaining pieces of obsidian stored away for any others who desired to try. With all back in place, he left the forge, knowing that it wouldn't be long before his return.

Sometime before the formation of the Dark Jedi Order...Ifrit had parted ways with Mariah upon their arrival to Iridonia, the future Fallen Empress declaring that she had some business to attend to while he headed off to meet with the Sith'ari. While he did not relish the thought of meeting with Viox Savage as it was, part of him knew it would be better done without Mariah around. So he left her to her own devices, as he ascended the Academy's interior structure. His unusual appearance drawing more than a few glances here and there, with some outright staring as they recognized the Master Spellbinder. Rumours had circulated like wildfire about the demon known as Ifrit Bladeweaver. And if some reactions were anything to go by, his reputation more than preceded him.
But he paid them no more attention than a passing glance as he finally found himself at the entrance to Viox's residence upon Iridonia. He pushed open the door and strode past any guards as he came to a stop. He gave a nod of his head in greeting to the ZabrakViox... It's about time we met in person...
