The Alliance to Restore Freedom to the Galaxy, also known as the Rebel Alliance, was a disparate band of Men and Women that wanted to give the Imperials some Freedom Fries. Wait. No. Not entirely. *Cough* THE REBEL ALLIANCE Because the Resistance is a silly name... While our polar opposite here on the boards isn't the Empire of yesteryear, the First Order presents an awakening threat that must be combatted for the sake of Freedom. Thus, to act as their antithesis, I, at this moment proclaim the formation of the Rebel Alliance - or simply the Alliance for short. While it would've been more in tune with the recently released film to adopt the name of the Resistance, it's overused in the science fiction genre and to me doesn't fit the Star Wars mythos. With that aside, to those interested in taking the fight to the First Order once the board has been set and the pieces are ready to be moved, feel free to toss your hat into the ring.
(Unlike the Canon version of the Rebel Alliance, we will not be fighting the First Order to restore the Republic to it's rightful place. By the time the Imperium Resurgent has begun its march across the galaxy, the JvS Galactic Republic will be dismantled by a third party, leaving the universe mostly open for the taking. Therefore, the Alliance will be made up of like minded folks that want to kick Imperial arse in the name of liberty, and if these big god damn heroes somehow manage to beat back those Imperial Wannabes, there won't be a galaxy spanning government slapped in place.)
There is no backstory to this up and coming band of brothers, as those that wish to take part in its formation will be the ones making its history.
War is coming, and we'll all be forced to choose a side. So make the right one, and fight for the Alliance.
FOR FREEDOM!

So I've been hashing out some details OOC with Alpharius in regards to the Alliance, and it's best that we assume such a body rather than fully RP out each and every step to get everyone in place. That way, it's easier for people to jump and join the up and coming fight against the First Order.
Another detail I'd been hashing out was that Aerandir himself, after recognizing the man who announced the Knights of Ren as a former Jedi and having misgivings about the First Order, planned on setting out to call together worlds to form this Alliance to prepare for a war that threatens the very galaxy's way of life. The First Order has yet to publicly establish the first contact location between the two parties, but once they do, I figure it would be a good time to also reveal that the galaxy, Republic or no Republic, isn't going to take another Empire takeover lying down, with the new Alliance army and fleet showing up, Aerandir with them, to oppose the First Order's assault and aid the Jedi that will presumably already be present on the world.
Let's do this right, and have us an awesome time. No worldwide government, just a collaboration of groups ready to kick ass.

What's the difference between this and "The Resistence" (aside from you guys having a cooler name)?

There isn't a sole home base and no NPC's preside over any of the character's that find themselves in the Alliance. Everyone who wears the badge can work alone, if they wish, or in concert with other cells/ elements to take the fight to the First Order on various fronts in a myriad of ways. With such a mindset in place, one doesn't have to go through the whole "I wanna join the Rebellion" phase if they don't want to, leaving them free to declare themselves Rebels and drop right into the action.
So, all in all, the difference between us and the Resistance? (Other than the idea being possibly scrapped, due to the character change.)
The Alliance is what we make it.

With this post, I've started to put things in motion for the forming of the Alliance. The backbone is set, and once we have the people, we're ready to give the First Order hell!

Also have this alt. As a soldier, he's more than willing to lend his aid to the Alliance in any way possible. Captain, commander, something that puts him on the frontlines where he's the most useful. Or even spec op missions when needed.

Well, since the Jedi are going to be involved in this, I'm sure I'll end up getting involved at some point, so... uhm.. yeah, count me in.

The R'Crurak clan on Tatooine will not fight, (at least for now), but its territories are open to peaceful people. That includes people laying low and hiding from the First Order Death Squads, mercs, and bounty hunters. ;)

After some discussion with Aer and Picas, the designated first contact between the First Order and the Jedi will be Dantooine. Aer is also working on getting the Alliance suited and ready to join up with this first encounter that will spark, what we can call, the Third Galactic Civil War or the Imperial-Jedi War.
Keep an eye out for when the official thread goes up folks! Expect it this month, early next month, unless I or Aer post a need for a delay.

Can I make a point that the Force Awakens doesn't state the Rebel Alliance doesn't exist. I presumed that the Rebellion or Republic had become a reputable force in the galaxy and wanted to fight the resistance but not so openly, thus they funded the Resistance. I see the Resistance as like a Guerrilla underground freedom fighting group funded by the Rebel Alliance.

While not mentioned in the movie, the Rebel Alliance became the New Republic and had been in power for some time when The Force Awakens takes place. (Possible setting spoilers in the link to follow, if you spoiled yourself through the link? Not my problem. www.starwars.com/databank/the-new-republic ) Like the First Order we're revving up to topple, the JvS version of the Rebel Alliance vastly differs from what's been displayed on the Screen and in EU/Legends Canon. So while there's alot of room for us in the Alliance to act as the Guerrilla/Freedom Fighters, there is going to be a place for those that want large scale combat between the two warring factions. Naturally, with no Republic to fund this Alliance, there's going to be plenty of... Borrowing (read: thieving) happening around the 'verse. Might even have a train heist or two.

Sylvia Quincy here, Professional Thief, Spy, and Saboteur; available for hire should the Rebel Alliance be willing to, eh, float my fees as it were.
I'm looking to be paid in technology. A No-Show, that the Alliance is famous for, would be nice. A Jedi Armored Jump Suit would be great as well. Further fees are negotiable. I'll be offering my services to the First Order as well, just for the heads up. After all, we haven't had a bona fide war on the site in a while now. Not counting the Mandalorian war and all that.
I'll note that I AM a knowledgeable RPer, who, frankly, has done this sort of mercenary work in the past - I just thought I'd offer my services more anonymously this time around. That and thief/spy/saboteur work is more agreeable to me than killing, kidnapping, and the other ilk that I'm used to. Hence the Quincy family was born.
Love and kisses,
- Silver

Well, I guess if we manage to hire you first, we'll have to keep you happy to ensure that don't turn coats. Or, somehow bribe you into the fold if the First Order gets you first.
Never the less, I'm looking forward to seeing how this all unfolds.

A Quincy always finishes the job, sweetheart. It's between the jobs that you have to watch out for.
Regardless, you can find me, and or approach me, on Bespin, Cloud City to be exact. Come alone, or I'll run faster than you can say "What?". Whoever gets to me first has my ear first.
