Not long after Raine awakes, Doctor Varad enters the room along with Lorcan and explains that the operation was a success. Full recovery, Doctor Varad explains, will take a few days, and the arm will be sore for at least the night. The biggest concern, Varad continues, is the risk of infection, but as Raine is being administered broad-spectrum antibiotics already while the results of her wound culture are being awaited, he does not anticipate any complications. After explaining the use of the PCA pump that Raine has been ordered to personally control her pain, a button enabling her to administer the prescribed small dose of medication at eight minute intervals, Doctor Varad asks if either Raine or Lorcan have any additional questions, answers them, and then says that they will be keeping her overnight for observation, but anticipate that she will be discharged sometime tomorrow after the results of her wound culture have been obtained, her pain is controlled, and she is tolerating a regular diet without any nausea.
After Doctor Varad has left, Lorcan sits on the edge of Raine's bed and grins as he jokes, "I hope you were listening to all of that nerdy stuff, 'cause I kinda stopped paying attention after he said you'll be fine. Ruffling Raine's hair, Lorcan says, You should get some rest, ad'ika. I sent Em home with Auntie Fee and Ro, but I'll be staying here with you until they kick us out tomorrow. Hopefully you have that same nurse from before, huh? I haven't had the chance to ask her out yet."

*Shortly after she woke, her buir and Doctor Varad returned. She was relieved to see her buir, even if it felt like such a short time ago. Doctor Varad then proceed to bombard her with a list of things that her still groggy mind just couldn'tkeep up with. She inclined herself just to nod and agree as he left.*
"I thought you were paying attention. You're the adult after all." *She didn't protestwhen her buir ruffled her hair. A small grin appeared on her face when her buir mentioned the nurse.* "Maybe you should ask her out. Em and i do need a motherly person in our lives."

Waving a hand to dismiss Raine's concerns about neither one of them having been paying much attention to the doctor, Lorcan says, "I'm sure someone will repeat all that stuff at least once more before they let you go. Scratching his chin, looking mildly concerned, he mutters, At least I hope so, and then grins with a nod, Yeah, yeah, they give you a bunch of crap when they let you go, and I'm pretty sure part of the crap they give you is a written version of all of the important crap that you should know. Giving Raine a thumbs up, he says, Don't worry, if worst comes to worst, we can always, he makes a gagging noise, ask Ro what we need to know."
Laughing when Raine suggests that she and Em need a motherly influence in their lives, Lorcan says, "Whoa, whoa there, let's not go jumping too far ahead of ourselves, ad'ika. I was just thinking of . . . editing his comments for his audience, Lorcan pauses, grins and changes his characterization of what he had in mind slightly, you know, um, having dinner and, uh, talking about . . . stuff. Looking mildly worried, he asks, You didn't really mean that about needing a, you know, motherly whatever, did you? I mean, he waves his hands as though having a sudden flash of inspiration, you have Raicheal, Fee and, he winces as though in pain, Ro too, right? They can be you guys' female role models or what not, right?"

*Raine didn't want to think of the list that was going to be given to her when they left. Just understanding everything now wasn't all that easy. Then again, her buir was right in the fact that they had Ro to help them.*
*She couldn't help but laugh at her buir's response to her motherly comment. He seemed uncomfortable with the whole prospectof it.* "They do, but they're also not around a lot." *Then a thought came to her, one that had never actually crossed her mind toll now. She almost felt nervous from just thinking it let alone asking. Maybe it was just her state of mind acting for her, or just a question she couldn't hold any longer.* "Buir, how well do you...what do you remember about my mom?"

Lorcan nods with a frown when Raine points out that Raicheal, Fionnuala and Roisin are not exactly constants in their lives, reluctantly conceding that she has a point as much as it perturbs him to do so even if he does not say so aloud. Setting the train of thought aside, as he often does when any train of thought threatens to become too uncomfortable to dwell on for long, Lorcan tries to think of something to change the subject, only to find that Raine, when she speaks again to ask what he remembers about her mother, has already found one to change it to, though it is not as far afield from what they had been speaking of as he would like.
A wistful smile, suggesting his memories of Raine's mother contain, for him, equal parts sadness for what befell the woman who gave birth to the daughter he only recently found he had fathered and fond recollections of the time he spent with her, surfaces on Lorcan's face as he thinks back, though it ultimately fades somewhat before he replies. "Mostly, Lorcan says in, for him, an unusually somber tone, I remember that she was strong, vibrant, adventurous, funny, smart, and beautiful, inside and out. She, he laughs, was a lot like you actually, and always called me out on my crap too; she didn't let me get away with . . . shrugging with a sigh, not wanting to think about Caitira any longer due to how things had ended between them and what he learned of her tragic fate, Lorcan forces a cheery grin and concludes, And she was smart enough not to stick around when it became obvious I wasn't ready then to settle down and grow up. Shaking his head, wondering if things would be different now that he has changed, or if he has not changed enough that it would make any difference, Lorcan asks, What about you, ad'ika? You had longer with her, what do you remember about her?"

*Raine couldn't help but give a small smile as her buir spoke of her mom. So he really did remember a lot about her. She actually felt bad for her buir that her mom had left him.* "I don't think she was very smart for leaving you. After all, you've been a pretty good buir so far."
*Lorcan's question made her think. What did she reall remember about her mom?* "Well, I remeber her working all the time on our ship. The thing was like an obsession to her. She always had somewhere to go, like she was searching for something. Although, you described her pretty well." *Raine still wasn't sure why she brought up this topic, but it was starting to make her sad. She rubbed her eyes real quick andlooked up at her buir.* "I wish I knew her better. I was always off getting into trouble, and she was always busy with...something. Maybe, I just thought I had all the time in the world."

Lorcan, self-aware enough to know that he had not been at all prepared to enter into a mature, committed relationship at the time Raine's mother had left him, assures his daughter, "Oh, she made the right choice, trust me, and reaches over and pats Raine's hand as he says with a rare hint of sadness and openness, I wish I grew up fast enough that the right choice would have been to stay with me though, I really do. Sniffing back a tear he can feel welling up in his right eye and sitting up, clapping his hands on his knees to force himself out of the somber mood that is threatening to come over him, Lorcan grins and, back to his usual self, points an index finger at Raine as he says, And, hey, like, don't be so hard on yourself, we all do that thinking we have all the time thing, right? And, you know, now you know to, like, not think that, and, erm, you know appreciate . . . stuff more? Nodding, having played back what he said in his head and concluded it sounded pretty wise on the whole, Lorcan says more confidently, Yeah, we should all definitely appreciate stuff more."

*Raine could sense her buir sadness and...possibly guilt? She wasn't entirely sure since it was hard to focus.* "Sometimes growing up quick makes it hard to enjoy other things. Besides, if she had stayed then I would have grown up here on Mandalore. Not lost on some terrible city planet." *She let a yawn and tried to wiggle the fingers of her right hand. All she was rewarded with was a dull pain. Raine pushed the button that administered the pain killer and feltthe pain slowly fade away. Trying her best, she couldn't help but fail to stifle another yawn.* "I'll try and appreciate things, like a new arm, a little more in the morning. I'm kinda tired." *Her eyes closed and she settled back into the bed before slowly drifting off to sleep, not before whispering just loud enough for her buir to hear.* " *"Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum buir."
* I love you buir.

"Mishuk gotal'u meshuroke, pako kyore, *" Lorcan says with a somber expression; as little as he likes to think about Raine's past and what she was made to endure, he has lived long enough to have seen the truth inherent in the old saying reveal itself often enough that he can take at least some small degree of solace in believing that Raine will be one of the gems, strong and beautiful, that the adage refers to because of all that she has been through.
Leaning forward and ruffling Raine's hair with a cheerful grin that does not entirely conceal how touched he is by what Raine says before falling asleep, Lorcan echoes the sentiment in a slightly hoarse voice, "Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum, ad'ika." Leaning back after Raine's breathing has slowed enough that it is clear that she is asleep, Lorcan watches her for a moment before laughing quietly with a shake of his head, wondering how it is possible that she has changed him so much in so short a time that he could feel such fulfillment simply from watching her sleep and knowing that she is safe when he would have laughed at the very idea of such a thing a mere handful of days ago.
The morning proves to be a flurry of activity at first, breakfast followed by what feels like one doctor after another popping in and prodding Raine while asking questions before disappearing almost as quickly as they appeared. Raine is not discharged until early in the afternoon, after yet another visit from Doctor Varad involving a lot of instructions and information that Lorcan, since Fee and Roisin have arrived with Em and are in the room visiting with Raine, feels free to simply nod at while letting it more or less go in one ear and out the other since he knows at least Roisin will be paying attention to.
After Varad has gone, Lorcan claps his hands and cheerily announces, "Let's get the frell outta here, huh?" and then, after helping Raine to her feet, begins leading the way to the medcenter's exit.

*Raine's morning started early and in a stressful manner. The constant barrage of doctors and questions was starting to wear here out and put her in a grumpy mood. Luckily, Ro eased the questions and having to remember a list a mile long when she arrived with Fee and Em. After Doctor Varad left, Raine let out a sigh of relief.*
*She still felt kinda weak as she slowly followed after her buir. Her right arm was neatly bandaged and left in a sling for the next few days. The arm was numb and still not fully functional yet, but at least it didn't hurt anymore. Pushing against her drowsiness, she quickened her pace till she was next to her buir.* "So...does uncle Faelan or Tee know what happened yet? Cause if they don't, then I want to tell them."

Lorcan winces when asked whether or not he has informed his brother and Telarial of what happened on Yavin, admitting as they make their way towards the airspeeder, "I was planning on kind of waiting until they got back from Agamar, actually. Trying to look and sound cheerful, he adds, But, you know, if you want to comm them sometime before then to tell them about it, we can, you know, arrange that."
Fionnuala, shaking her head as she opens one of the airspeeder's rear doors for Raine, tells her with a mischievous grin meant for Lorcan, "You can use my comlink right now if you want to, and then after helping her get into the airspeeder carefully so as not to risk hurting her arm, heads around to the pilot's seat as she asks, Do you need anything in the city before we take you home?"
Lorcan, after saying that they need to pick up Raine's prescriptions for antibiotics and painkillers, slides into the back seat beside Raine and asks her, "Anything else you want or need, ad'ika?"

*Raine climbed into the speeder, taking care not to bump her arm on anything.* "I'll wait to tell them. Probably easier to explain in person than over a commlink." *She finally got herself settled in and buckled when her buir asked if she needed anything. Raine thought for a moment before shaking her head.* "I can't think of anything." *She did her best to hide her grin as she decided to joke with her buir.* "Well...maybe sometime I could get a blaster pistol of my own. You know, just in case."

Possibly contrary to Raine's expectations, no one seems to take her request to be provided with her own personal sidearm as a joke; on the contrary, the question sparks something of a debate between Lorcan and Fionnuala.
Lorcan, shrugging in response to Raine's question as, in his estimation, she is already past the age where most Mandalorian children begin training in the use of edged weapons, blaster weapons, martial arts, and several more areas other cultures might deem inappropriate or dangerous for children to involved in, says, "Sure. We can even start going over the basics, safety, care and cleaning and so on, while your arm heals, and then move on to learning to use it in the field once your arm is healed."
Turning around to face Lorcan and Raine, Fionnuala asks, "Wait, hold on, what were you thinking of starting her with?"
"Czerka 411 hold-out?" Lorcan suggests after considering the question for a moment.
Crinkling her nose, Fionnuala counters with her own proposal for Raine's first blaster, "I'd go with the HattMark Derringer instead. The 411 is kinda lame."
"Good range though," Lorcan says, sounding slightly less confident in his choice than before.
"Yeah, sure, but it has super lousy stopping power, Fionnuala says, HattMark is more lightweight too, kinda'a no brainer really."
Cheerfully admitting that Fionnuala's idea is probably better than his, Lorcan tells Fionnuala, "You're probably right. Looking over at Raine, Lorcan asks her, given that it will be her own personal weapon, at least while training, What do you think though? You want something that has a whole lotta oomph but a bit less range, or something that has better range but with less oomph?"

*Raine was taken by surprised by the unanimous agreement from the adults in ththe speeder. She hadn't expected them to agree with her joke. Her buirs question made her pause momentarily, leaving her almost unsure what to say.* "Well...I don't think I'm going to be trying to hit things at long range. So, I'd say stopping power."

Lorcan nods, grinning cheerfully as he lifts his hands and says, "The HattMark it is then. Scratching the dark stubble beneath his jaw, Lorcan says, I'm pretty sure we've got one somewhere actually, I'll have a look around. If not, we'll do some shopping tomorrow."
Once they arrive at Faelan's vheh'yaim, Roisin and Fionnuala more or less insisting that they stay for at least a little while to help make sure Lorcan does not forget anything he ought to do, Lorcan ultimately decides to step back and let his old friend and her significant other take over. Fionnuala heads almost immediately to the kitchen, preparing an evening meal more substantial and healthy than anything she is sure that Lorcan would have done if left to his own devices. Roisin, correctly guessing that neither Lorcan nor Raine were paying as much attention as they should have to the discharge instructions, pulls Raine aside and patiently goes over the activity restrictions and recommended exercises with the girl, making sure that Raine demonstrates or teaches back all that she conveys so that she can be sure of the girl's understanding. Lorcan, much to his chagrin, is not left off the hook entirely, Roisin pulling him aside after they have all eaten and Fionnuala is bathing Eimhin and getting him ready for bed, and reviewing all of the medication and discharge instructions with him even more slowly and in smaller words than she had when doing so with Raine, and extracting his and Raine's promise to comm her if either of them have any concerns or questions.
Dropping exhaustedly onto a sofa after Fionnuala and Roisin have finally left, Lorcan sighs and shakes his head as he grins at Raine and jokes, "Phew, right? I thought they'd never leave, huh? How are you feeling, ad'ika?"

*The blaster pistol situation was now sorted out, and honestly Raine was kinda excited about it. She had only ever owned vibro blades, never an actual blaster. That was going to have to wait until morning though.*
*Another sigh escaped her lips as she repeated after Roisin. She thought she had let all the orders and questions behind for a while, but here she was going over them again. Once finally free, or at least when Roisin went to pester Lorcan, she finally got something to eat. She felt like she hadn't eaten in days, which oddly enough was kinda true. Once food and company were gone, she dropped into a chair across from her buir.* "I'm still tired. These past few days haven't been very fun."
*She closed her eyes and tried to clear the stress from her mind. A feeling of calm started to flow over her, making her believe that she was falling asleep. When she was actually sinking into the force. Her mind unknowingly reached out and started to grab small objects. Slowly, several items started to lift of the table and float by Raine. All the while she was meditating herself to sleep.*

Chuckling as he nods in agreement with Raine's assessment of the last few days, Lorcan says, "Yeah, hopefully all of our family outings won't be as crappy as the last few have been, huh?" Comfortable enough on the sofa that he feels no particular urgency to get up, Lorcan relaxes as Raine appears to start to fall asleep.
About to rouse himself when it looks as though Raine has finally fallen asleep, Lorcan raises his eyebrows as several objects begin to float around his daughter. Though his first inclination is to try and wake Raine, Lorcan resists the urge to do so when it occurs to him that startling her might do more harm than good; her posture and expression seem peaceful enough, and at present the floating objects pose no threat to either Raine or himself. Lorcan does not know anything more than most do about Force sensitivity, but has seen and heard of how emotions can affect those like his daughter, and so decides, for now, to simply let whatever Raine is experiencing to continue uninterrupted; though he does remain watchful to her posture and expression so that, should things appear to be taking a turn for the worse, he can try to intercede on her behalf.

*Raine shifted some in her sleep, causing her to bump her injured arm. This broke her connection with the force and made her stir some. The objects around her dropped to the ground. Still half awake, she curled up in the chair on her left side, before pulling her legs close to her chest and falling back to sleep. All the while she was completely unaware of what happened.*

Lorcan tenses up when he sees Raine hit her arm whilst stirring in her sleep, expecting that the pain will disrupt her unconscious telekinetic manipulation of the objects that circle in the air around her, possibly violently. Relaxing when the objects in question simply drop to the ground, Lorcan watches his daughter for a few moments longer, her breathing and movements revealing that she falls deeper and deeper into sleep, and then, sighing softly when he reaches a point where he must choose to either let himself drift off into sleep himself or to rouse himself and make sure neither he nor his daughter wake with the aches and pains sure to come from sleeping in chairs rather than in beds, groans as he stands up and stretches after choosing to rouse himself.
Lifting Raine gently in his arms, Lorcan takes her to her room and lays her in her bed, carefully placing a pillow on the bed beside her on the side of her injured arm so that she will not hit it against anything harder than the pillow in her sleep. After watching Raine sleeping peacefully for a moment, laughing at himself for doing so and feeling so content even though they have just been through a stressful experience together that has him worrying about his fitness to be a parent at all, Lorcan goes to his own room and, after tossing and turning while worrying about all the things he has found himself worrying about ever since he learned that he fathered both a son and a daughter without knowing of either until recently, eventually falls asleep.

*Raine vaguely remembered being picked up and carried to her room. Mostly just the foggy recollection of being placed in her bed. She settled into a dreamless sleep, one she was grateful for given what she had been through.*
*The early morning sun filtered through her window and bathed the room in bright light. She let out a groan as the light found its way under her eyelids. Groggily, she rolled over to escape it, but ended up bothering her arm. Half awake now, she slowly crawled out of bed. Getting dressed wasn't much fun with one good arm and a mind that wasn't up to speed yet. A black tshirt, brown cargo pants and a red plaid skirt of that was good enough. Her bare feet moved slowly across the floor as she headed towards the living area. The entire time she was battling the mane of hair that fell past her waist, in an attempt to put it in a ponytail. After a few minutes, she gave up and sat down on the couch.*
