The Azure Palace once belonged to the Hutts. However with the disappearance of the organized Hutt Cartels, the palace fell into disrepair and was ultimately neglected. Upon his arrival to Nal Hutta, Zordo the Hutt poured his resources and wealth into the Palace, restoring it to its former glory. Now the sole domain of the Hutt Cartel, the Azure Palace is the place where the Hutt Crimelord currently dwells. Catering to a multitude of illicit or illegal activities, the Azure Palace has a casino, bar, red light entertainment rooms, guest quarters, A Throne room and several hangars, warehouses and other utility rooms to facilitate the Hutt's business dealings.

This was a grand surprise to Nasir when Zordo's offer was given to him. The Zygerrian was offered much; a high command over the armies and fleets of the renewed Hutt Cartel, riches, position, influence and the likes... yet there was a question within the mind of Nasir. A few prominent questions that made him contemplate, not for long, but slightly. After all, he would effectively lose all freedom if committed to this. Yet more importantly, what would that mean for Nar Shaddaa, his crew and their slaving operations?Mighty Zordo, your offer is one of great opportunity. An opportunity that only a few are truly worthy and that many would die for such a chance. For surely there are those better than I, I am honored by your offer, Great Zordo.Nasir had some experience with commanding soldiers and ships given his operations. But it was hardly anything compared to what assignments and battles that entailed the expansion and prosperity of the Hutt Cartel. And yet, I must be allowed to present some questions though... what do you want in return for me accepting this offer? After all, you give me much, but there is not a hint of what the Cartel and Mighty Zordo demand in return. What will become of my slaving operations, of Nar Shaddaa, and of my crews? A man who works hard cannot easily give up what he has worked hard for after all.Nasir had every right to present these questions before Zordo. Otherwise, he would only have a small picture of what was being offered and what was to be expected of in return. In order for the Zygerrian to be ready in accepting, these questions needed answers. A smile of sorts, crept onto the Hutt's face as the Zygerrian posed his questions. Questions that were indeed important. Nasir did pour a lot of effort and resources into becoming the self-proclaimed Warlord of Nar Shaddaa, after all. His name, reputation and livelihood were all going to be affected. Though with this offer, hopefully for the better. Reaching for his hookah, the Hutt took a haul off of it. As the smoke slowly escaped through his nostrils, the Hutt exhaled a large cloud of smoke."Your operations on Nar Shaddaa shall remain yours. Independent from the Hutt Cartel if you so choose." Zordo replied to the Zygerrian in Huttese "A small tax will be imposed on your sales if you choose to go independent, however, for operating in Cartel space. In return, you will be under the protection of the Hutt Cartel. My slavemaster, Vrossk Kodra, would oversee that your operations ran smoothly and that Cartel policy would be enforced..." The Hutt took a few moments to collect his thoughts, as well as take another pull from his hookah. As he exhaled the cloud of blue-grey smoke, he continued. "Should you wish to amalgamate your operations with the Cartel, you would recieve...royalties...from the services provided due to the foundations you have laid. The choice is yours, and in order to maintain prosperous business ties, I will not force you to choose one option over the other. Aside from that, I ask of nothing in return, aside from your loyalty and your dedication to the Cartel..."And with that, the Hutt trailed off, casting his gaze over to the Zygerrian before him. If Nasir chose to remain independent, the Cartel would become his business partner. The specifics would be hashed out later. If he chose to join with the Cartel, he'd be well compensated and his men, those that didn't join him right away, would remain in charge of the operations on Nar Shaddaa. Either choice would benefit Zordo. When building a criminal empire from the ground up, he had to be a little more lenient in the beginning. Once the credits began flowing, spice began moving and slaves were being bought and sold, he could be more decisive on his business choices. With Nasir holding a portion of the slave trade on Nar Shaddaa, he was competition. And competition was bad for business. And Zordo would hate to have to remove such a useful resource rather than utilizing it as it should be.

==Ball of Stars SL== <<107 PP; S12 Sector, Nal Hutta, Azure Palace>>
Zayd ibn Walther had been nominally in charge of what had over time come to be called the Ball of Stars for the better part of four years. The Genie was rather shorter than most expected before actually meeting him, but he was well versed in politics & well suited to rubbing elbows with the Hutts. Even if such actions required large amounts of degreaser later. The smooth click & wire of the overlay on his armor look like nothing so much as an overly complex clockwork. It had no impact on the actual armor, but he did enjoy the aesthetic of it. This was, however, the first time he had been in the Azure Palace. For one, it had been a deserted ruin for most of his trips to Hutt space. Now it seemed a new power had gained ascendancy in the Hutt Cartel. This meant yet again restarting the subtle dance of stabbing them in the back as often as possible.
As always, the delegation arrived with a large number of relatively younger & lower ranked diplomats, along with a few more experienced hands. As always there were no official stakes at this Ball, but unofficial ruled the day. He was sure many backroom deals would be once again made, broken & betrayed once again. Plus the ever present scandals, gaffs & blackmail material gathered on the youngsters. So far the balance of power among the minor powers in attendance was more or less even. A state that had stubbornly persisted for the last decade of these events. Though nearly every minor power had shifted sides multiple times over the course of that dance.
Leading the party through the primary guest entrance, He waited to be introduced as 'Zayd ibn Walther, Master of the delegation of the Infinite Imperium. And party' Or some such wording. All the minor powers had already arrived & been introduced. Only the Hutts themselves & the Imperium had yet to be announced & formally join the proceedings. & as the host, the honor of final introduction would go to them for this round. Of course, Zayd would have been a fool if he didn't hadn't already had taps into the proceedings. Which gave him a quick rundown of what power had sent whom. It was a fair mix of older, familiar faces & younger ones. Some of the 'experienced' faces from the minor powers included people that he had gained blackmail material on as new attendees a decade ago. It brought a smile to the face hidden behind his helmet.

With the dealings between the Hutt Cartel and the self proclaimed Warlord of Nar Shaddaa having concluded, the next round of business came to pass. The 'Ball of Stars' as it was called. An elegant party of intrigue, subterfuge and backroom politics. Suffice to say, it was something that while unnecessary, played to the favor of their hosts this year, the fledgling Hutt Cartel. Having disappeared for a few years, the Hutt Cartel was rising to prominence once more under the leadership of none other than Zordo the Hutt. Having built up his name, reputation and wealth by playing fast, loose and dirty with the underworld communities, the Hutt had managed to secure connections, allies and followers. Adding to his numbers, both material wise and follower wise, Zordo finally had amassed enough wealth, power and prestige among the underworld to reach out and claim Nal Hutta in the name of the Cartel. Playing host to the multitude of lesser powers among the underworld brought his enemies or potential allies together to marvel at his splendor. Though the lesser powers weren't truly his main focus, the Infinite Imperium had garnered his attention. From what he had managed to discover, the Mandalorian faction was a mix of several species, most of which were either clones, or of former slave stock. Something he would have to be somewhat delicate with, given Imperium's history with those embedded within the slave trade. On the ballroom floor, the guests of the mighty Zordo were mingling, dancing, drinking and catching up, as it had been some time since the 'Ball of Stars' had taken place with this much pomp and show. As the representatives of the Imperium were brought to the main entrance, they were announced to the crowd.
"Now arriving, Zayd ibn Walther, Master of the delegation of the Infinite Imperium!"
Applause rang out, as well as a few hoots and hollers to cheer on the arrival of the Infinite Imperium. Known well within these circles, it was obvious that the Imperium had managed to garner a significant amount of respect, good or bad. Clearly they were able to play the 'game', as it were. As the Imperium guests would settle in, free to mingle with those already present, the Speaker announced the arrival of the host, Zordo himself.
"Now arriving, Zordo Issulla Ajuur, honored host and representative of the Hutt Cartel!"
Thunderous applause and cheers erupted as Zordo slithered into the room, flanked by two Hutt Security Droids, Vrossk Kodra, his Trandoshan Slavemaster and Kargesh Vizla, his Mandalorian Lieutenant and right hand man. After all, this event was being hosted on Zordo's dime, with 'charitable' donations being accepted. Clearing his throat, Zordo spoke, his voice booming in Huttese over the applause.
"Welcome, honored guests and allies, to the Azure Palace! Enjoy yourselves with the finest dining and entertainment the galaxy has to offer!"
And with that, Zordo and his escort moved into the Ballroom, where Zordo himself would slither up to his hoverchair and seat himself, taking in the atmosphere of the party. Vrossk, dressed in his usual attire of a faded yellow flightsuit, covered by a Wookiee pelt complete with dangling shackles, leaned in and spoke.
"I fear thisss isss a missstake, Mighty Zordo...sssomething isss off...I can sssense it."
Waving a stubby arm to dismiss his concern, Zordo retorted.
"The only thing off here is the fact that a known slaver is in the same room as the Imperium delegates. Disappear until you are summoned. Kargesh can handle my security for the time being..."
Bowing reluctantly, Vrossk slunk away from Zordo, as Kargesh, clad in his armor as per usual, stepped in closer. Silent and stoic, Kargesh was silently scanning the room, arms crossed over his chest. Soon it would be time to mingle with those present and begin cutting deals to aid in the small scale power struggles most of the lesser powers were involved in, giving Zordo the chance to exert his influence and assimilate those he could into the Cartel's ranks...

While the other members of the delegation spread out to mingle, Zayd made his way toward what could only be described as a throne. It was customary for the other leader of the major player to greet the host first. It was also fairly well established that the first day or so would be simple relaxation before getting on the meat of the fun.
-Zayd Greetings Supreme Mogul Ajuur. It is a pleasure to meet you personally. Hopefully, you will address me as Zayd. This is after all a chance to be a touch more informal than our nations generally are able to act.

Kargesh eyed the approaching diplomat carefully, though did not make any sort of move. Zordo, on the other hand, inclined his head respectfully.
"Zayd. A pleasure." Boomed the Hutt in Huttese. "It pleases me that you were able to attend. I look forward to seeing if the Imperium and the Cartel can maintain a close alliance..."
There was a certainty in Zordo's voice. It was clear that he believed there could be some sort of mutually beneficial alliance between both factions, however, Zordo wasn't the type to put all of his credits in one pocket, so to speak. He had other ventures to pursue, should the Imperium not agreed to some sort of trade agreement or something of a similar fashion. After all, the Imperium was just one of many galactic factions. Anything could happen...

In his younger years, he had relied rather heavily on the translation programs on the Imperium holonet. After this long dealing with them though, he was comfortable enough to understand with ease. It would seem that the newest host on the Hutt side hadn't been brought fully up to speed on how the games were played here. Which wasn't too unusually given how the changes in power often happened on that side of the fence.
-Zayd Please, I am sure that our people will remain as close as ever, however it is the measure & purpose of these gathers to forget the pressures of such talks. I am certain that in the coming days, we shall have wonderful conversations & find plenty of amusing events to recall in our respective retirements.
Zayd did have a sense of fair play though. Which meant that the Hutt would get a somewhat veiled warning about what was actually happening here. He wouldn't spell it out of course, as dealing with someone blind enough to require that would be no fun at all. Of course, it made it more interesting in the short term at least, as if the Hutt went outside of what had been deemed acceptable contact according to the official rules of the gather, at least openly, it would prove a major PR win for the Imperium & many of the minor powers would flock to the Imperium's banner. If enough of them did so, it might even be enough to tip the scales & make open war a feasible goal. Then that very same blunder could be used as a trumped up excuse for the first blow. After that, things would only escalate.

With Nasir holding a portion of the slave trade on Nar Shaddaa, he was competition. And the competition was bad for business. And Zordo would hate to have to remove such a useful resource rather than utilizing it as it should be. Zordo was driving a hard bargain, Nasir noticed the two choices well. A small tax versus integration with the Cartel. In truth, one option kept the wealth with Nasir but his operations would be overseen by Zordo's slavemaster, or in this case, puppet, over his operations and ensuring Cartel policy was enforced. However, to hand over his operations would prove his loyalty to the Cartel, but Nasir would lose his source of wealth, his reputation and certainly, the loyalty of his men. The Zygerrian had two choices; loyalty to the Cartel or loyalty to himself... both had their benefits and consequences in the end.
The Zygerrian had witnessed such contracts destroy and even benefit people throughout his life. Such competition existed within his people's society as each fought for better slave contracts and clients for their wares. But here, the stakes were much higher. Nasir was a foreigner in Hutt Space and Zordo could easily bring the Hutt Council down upon him, ruining his foundation and everything that he had worked for. There was still a third option to consider however.Mighty Zordo, I wish to present a third operation. The Zygerrian spoke clearly and confidently.I will offer the Hutt Cartel a share, worth forty percent of my operations, as a sign of loyalty and submission to the authority of yourself and the Hutt Council. The remaining sixty will be divided accordingly; I will hold forty percent, personally, of my operations with the remaining twenty percent open to investors, both foreign and native to Hutt Space. What is drawn from the invests will be divided accordingly between the joint control over my operations. This ensured that the Zygerrian had a safety net. Control of forty percent, equal to that of the Hutt Cartel, with the remaining twenty as a neutral ground, one that Nasir could easily control. If things go well, Nasir will divert investments to the Hutts. If not, then the money of investors will be diverted to him. This would be most suitable for him.Are these agreeable terms, Mighty Zordo?

Drawing another haul from his hookah, the Hutt laughed loudly as he exhaled. A deep, guttural laugh that caused the Hutt to clutch his belly as he did so. Raising his arm and pointing at the Zygerrian, he spoke.
"Bargaining with a Hutt..."
Still chuckling to himself, Zordo continued speaking in Huttese to the Zygerrian.
"You certainly have a pair, don't you? I can respect that."
Nasir certainly knew how to offer an agreeable counter-offer. And the Cartel still stood to profit off of Nasir's slave market. Nasir was a cautious, calculating man. Something that would make him excellent at commanding the Cartel's forces once they established themselves more. And as long as Nasir served the Cartel loyally, there would be no issue. If he crossed the Cartel, his slave trade would burn, along with him. Zordo hadn't attained the position he was currently in without knowing how to properly eliminate the competition. Pulling another haul from his hookah, the Hutt exhaled and nodded in agreement.
"I find these terms agreeable, Nasir. You have yourself a deal."
And now that business was concluded, it was time to enjoy all the splendor the Azure Palace could offer.
"Now that business is finished, let use enjoy the splendors and luxuries the Azure Palace has to offer!"
Motioning to the doors on both the left and the right, summoning server droids, scantily clad slave girls and more. Maneuvering his hoverchair, Zordo and his escorts moved into the Casino portion of the palace, where there was gambling, both legitimate and otherwise, entertainment of several varieties, refreshments and more. With a successful business deal having gone down, it was time to enjoy the finer things in life.

There is an entire ballroom filled with entertainment, let us not waste time over such trivialities."Motioning for a serving droid to cart over some refreshments, Zordo merely took a pull off of his hookah. Exhaling the blue-grey smoke, he laughed again."You are my guests! Please enjoy yourselves!"Excusing himself from Zayd's company, he maneuvered his hoverchair towards the bar. He tolerated the Imperium's presence here because it was the polite thing to do. It didn't mean he had to endure speaking with its lackeys for longer then necessary. Appearances or no, the Imperium was a slippery bunch. And coming from a gangster such as Zordo, that was saying a lot.

"Retirement? Ho ho ho! Zayd, you amuse me. Of course, that could be turned to good as well. Usually, that sort tended to either alienate the lesser powers, or tried to strong-arm them. In either case, many that were currently on the fence would likely flock to the Imperium side.Watching the slug float away, Zayd snagged a drink from a passing tray. The balance of power between the Hutts & the Imperium was actually fairly level. The hutts had a much larger population to draw on for combatants. The Imperium on the other hand had a significant edge in the field of technology. In terms of total throwing power however, the minor powers represented a combined force that was slightly more powerful than either of the two major forces. True, it was highly unlikely that they would ever join up into a single effective force, but if they did, it would be a major threat to either the Hutts or the Imperium.Zayd was already plotting who would be the quickest to turn once the Hutts started making their moves. It was rather simple to have various aides & others in place to take advantage of it when you could guess what was going to happen.

There are certainly those that can be bought off temporarily, others through diplomacy, but, without a doubt, the Cartel will need a military to subjugate others and ensure those who agreed, by other means, stay in line.Assassins, mercenaries, professional soldiery... the works, thought Nasir. The Hutt Cartel would need it all in order to re-establish order, quell the chaos and enforce rule within Hutt Space. Otherwise, the Cartel's grip would be minimal and merely within the system of Nal Hutta. A proper defense force that could keep order, protect the interests of the Cartel and police the borders. It would require a lot of coin, but this was the Mighty Zordo! Nasir was certain the Hutt had his means.\ A necessary defense force is needed. Otherwise, your power will be nothing but words, Mighty Zordo. Money can persuade, but it is not a permanent means to quell sedition. A defense force, owing its allegiance to the Cartel, is a more physical presence of your great will and influence! None would be able to speak out with such an awe-inspiring presence around them.

Zordo chuckles loudly at Nasir's suggestion. A military presence? What a perfect way to expand his influence! Money certainly wasn't an object right now. With trade opened between here and Iridonia, he could recoup his losses soon enough. And with Nasir's operations on Nar Shaddaa, money would begin flowing soon enough. Nodding in agreement with the Zygerrian, Zordo spoke in Huttese.
"My fleets have secured Nal Hutta for the time being, but they won't be of any use in expanding our interests...go. Make the preparations. The Hutt Cartel will be in power of this sector once more!"
The Hutt chuckled loudly as he envisioned the Cartel's rise to prominence. Aided by Nasir's tactical and haggling brilliance, the Cartel would soon be on top of it's game.

By your will, Mighty Zordo.
The Zygerrian bowed his head with due respect to his new employer.
I have a number of vessels at my command as we speak. A ragtag composition, but with plenty of firepower.
The Zygerrian warlord had intended this fleet to guard his trade and slave routes. It was a number of ships captured throughout his operations, refurbished and cleaned up for a military role. As his prominence had grown on Nar Shaddaa, so too had the fleet. Nasir pulls out a holopad, offering it to a service droid that brought it to the Hutt. Upon activation, it revealed a fleet of fifteen vessels, commanded by a Providence-class Destroyer. The Zygerrian gestures to it.
I call it... Vagabond Squadron.

As the holopad was handed to the Hutt and activated, the Hutt's eyes lit up with delight. Speaking in Huttese to the Zygerrian, he explained his delight.
"Vagabond Squadron? You have an eye for power, my friend..."
Thinking for a moment, he spoke again, inviting the Zygerrian in on his plans.
"Perhaps a demonstration of Vagabond Squadron's power is in order?"
Giving Nasir's holopad back to the droid and picking up a second, he activated it. The image of Bonadan sprang to life.
"Bonadan. Just outside the fringes of Hutt Space. But a valuable target, none-the-less. But I have set my eyes on this as our first target. It has resources and can supply us well. As my military advisor and commander of the navy, what are your thoughts on this move?"
The Hutt opened the floor to the Zygerrian, seeking his input. After all, what good was employing the Zygerrian if he wasn't going to listen to him?

While the discussion between Zordo and Nasir continued about the Cartel's first official move, Kargesh Vizla, Zordo's lieutenant, was tasked with taking a few ships and heading to Ryloth to collect a group of slaves that were being sold to Zordo's Cartel by a lesser known Hutt. Gathering a group of Gamorrean warriors and ensuring all of his gear was in proper order, Vizla headed to the spaceport in Bilbousa where the ships were waiting to head to Ryloth...

After all, what good was employing the Zygerrian if he wasn't going to listen to him? It is a bold statement, Mighty Zordo. To push for Bonadan was quite the move for the Hutt Cartel, considering its distance from Hutt Space. The Zygerrian had considered a target like Hypori, Onderon, Dressel, or Kessel, within reach of Hutt Space. There were rumors about of Sith to their southern border and smaller states forming within reach of the Hutt Cartel's influence and reach. However, there were some bonuses to taking Bonadan. It was known to have a shipyard and a link with major cooperations as a part of the Corporate Sector. It would be wise to scout the situation first. In the meantime, I would suggest we seize control of systems nearby. Kessel sits right on our backdoor after all. To control the spice mined there would be an economic boon to the Cartel.

The Hutt nodded in agreement. Bonadan was a test, to see how strategically the Zygerrian thought. Committing all their current resources to such a campaign was foolish until they knew the situation. But, the advantages were clear. Kessel would be a huge economic boost for the Cartel. And, being a Hutt, anything that would turn a profit, was appealing. Speaking to the Zygerrian in Huttese, he replied.
"Indeed. You are correct. Kessel is the most obvious move for us. However, Bonadan is no without its own advantages. Dispatch scouts. Gather intel on Bonadan. Until we are certain it would be a wise move, let us proceed to acquire Kessel. The spice mines are a valuable asset. Once our borders are reinforced and secure, we will return to entertaining the acquisition of Bonadan."
Zordo liked the way the Zygerrian thought. Building their economic base was key to their success. Having secured trade with both Iridonia and Ordo was beneficial, but they still needed more. And Kessel would certainly provide that.
