*Tibannopolis was the second largest city on Bespin, after Cloud City. It was one of Bespin's several tibanna gas mining operations. The city was constructed in close orbit around the gas giant, and its builders hoped it would one day rival Cloud City in terms of both gas mining and popularity. Its inability to compete on these terms caused its citizens to gradually abandon it during the ferocious Clone Wars. Left to float aimlessly, the city was often plundered by inhabitants of other colonies whenever they found useful materials. What remained of the city sprawl became little more than a ghost town in the clouds. Over the years, its repulsorlifts continued to operate, but the failure of a power regulator caused the entire platform to list slightly to one side.*

*Kaytra kept a watchful eye on the LAAT/is sensor board as she guided the gunship to its destination. The heads up display in her pilots helmet giving the occasional readout whenever she glanced out the cockpit window. Below her, she could feel the constant rumble of the LAAT/is engines as they powered the ship forward. After several minutes she heard a beep from the ships navigation system, they were almost there. Hitting the comlink on the control panel, she relaid the information to those riding in the back.*
::Heads up people. We've five minutes out from the LZ::

Leftenant Asha Bonafeld, Epsilon Group, 4th Battalion, 1st Airborne Commando Support Brigade, GALSAF On approach to Tibannopolis, Bespin lifezone Asha got her bearings as the readouts on her console updated the gunship's location in proximity to the rundown city that floated in the sky off in the distance. Leftenant @kaytra had them on a direct approach, coming up from below the line of sight of the city. Fourth Platoon's commandos, including its Leftenant Ali Hadrix and the Jensaarai woman assigned to them for the duration of the mission, Crystaall Sehefadu, sat in the troop bay behind the cockpit, waiting for their arrival at the landing zone. Their target was one of the large Star Destroyer-class vessels the pirates had operating over the abandoned city. It was Kaytra and Asha's mission to blast their way into the vessel's landing bay and deploy the commandos they carried on board. As the vessel came into view on Asha's visual readouts, she began wondering if they would be able to make the landing with the Destroyer's bay shields still activated. Not wanting to let the thought be lost in the heat of battle, she relayed her concern to Kaytra.Hey, Leftenant, just a thought here. Are we going to have trouble from that Destroyer's bay shields, or do you think we can break them with rockets alone? It looks like they've got the generator exposed to the left and right of the bay opening, I'm thinking we could use the composites to overload the shield itself. Like most stock Low-Altitude Assault Transports, the neck of the vessel was equipped with outboard composite beam weapons, which were designed to cut through buildings and personnel with ease. The aft-mounted rocket launchers should be capable of handling the generators themselves, but if the pirates had redundancies built in, they would also need to overload the bay shields before they could be reenergized. Asha waited for a response from the gunship's lead pilot, Kaytra, busying herself for the moment by double checking their approach vector.

*Kaytra listened to Ashas concerns about the bays shield. She gave a small nod in agreement, those shields could be problematic. After scanning the ship for several seconds Kaytra responded.*
::Sounds like a good plan. Once we're in firing range we'll overload the shield with the composite beam. As soon as their down we'll hit the generators with rockets. Hopefully that will distract them long enough to buy us some time from any defenses they might through our way::
*She paused for a moment before throwing out a sarcastic statement to lighten the mood.*
::May be should fire a rocket straight into the hangar bay to clear it out some.::
*She knew all to well that firing a rocket into the hangar would be unwise. They didn't know exactly what was in that hangar or if there was anything dangerous enough to bring the ship down if they did.*

*Crystaall stood there, keeping her balance as the gunship shook in the air. The doors were closed, and no light came through the slots, so the glare in her right eye was probably just a simple light to allow the people inside to see what they were doing.*
"I don't think the Destroyer knows our plan of attack, so this should be a breeze. If not, I remembered to bring one of my lightsabers. Its relatively useful when people start shooting at you."

Ali looked over at Crystaall Sehefadu as she mentioned lightsabers. "I messed around with one of those once, on Yavin Four, before Tagira was booted off the moon." Ali glanced at the curved lightsaber handle that hung from Crystaall's slender waist. "I almost cut my own head off, didn't know the blades were weightless at the time." She laughed pleasantly, "I haven't touched one since."Leftenant Asha Bonafeld, Epsilon Group, 4th Battalion, 1st Airborne Commando Support Brigade, GALSAF On approach to Tibannopolis, Bespin lifezone Asha listened to @kaytra's spoken thoughts, deciding that launching a rocket into the hangar bay of the Venator Star Destroyer actually wasn't a bad idea. That's actually not a bad idea, Leftenant. Asha replied, pulling up targeting data on the other pirate vessels holding positions over Tibannopolis. We're still in the lifezone, so even damage to the hangar bay wouldn't prevent us from deploying the platoon inside the ship. I don't see one rocket knocking the vessel out of the fight, but it would certainly clear the way. Do I have your go on that? Asha keyed for the missile targeting system, identifying the Venator-class Star Destroyer that was just now coming within sight. Typing in several commands, Asha made a tentative lock on the hangar bay's massive dorsal doors, which remained open for some reason. She doubted the pirates knew they were coming, though Venator cruisers didn't usually keep their hangar doors open unless they were deploying fighters.

*Crystaall chuckled at the thought of Ali messing around with a lightsaber. She thought it comical that Ali nearly cut off her own head. But she understood how. The blades were weightless, and you had to practice for years with one to even do the basic of moves. Crystaall being a warrior, changing from weight to no weight just gave her the advantage of an extra bit of speed and agility.*
"I'm surprised no one told you that you have to think of the blades as another piece of yourself. It is usable in combat, but it can also turn against its own user, if not careful."

::Roger that. You have my go for that decision.:: *Kaytras eyes narrowed beneath her helmet. Asha was probably thinking the same thing she was.* ::Leftenant, are you picking up any fighter patrols in the area? Those bay doors should be shut, even pirates aren't that relaxed.::

Ali pulled her helmet off for a moment and shook her hair out, running a hand through her thick locks. For some reason, Ali wanted Crystaall Sehefadu to see her smile as they talked. She clipped the helmet to her belt, knowing they were still awaiting orders to move in from the infiltration team. Returning her eyes to Crystaall, she laughed easily. "On Mandalore, we have a saying, Besbe'trayce cuyi besbe'trayce. Weapons are weapons." Ali lifted the sub-assault weapon hanging from its clip on her shoulder. "When I was a child, before I learned how to use a firearm, my father found me out in the forest on our homestead, playing with one of my mother's rifles I'd taken from the shed. He nearly had a heart attack when he found I'd already loaded a power clip into it." Ali's smile grew slightly, though the corners of her mouth twitch as she was reminded that she hadn't spoken to either of her parents in several years."Luckily, my father realized I had jammed the clip in backwards, and my mother later joked that I wouldn't be much of a threat to anyone. That's when she decided it was about time I learned." Ali shrugged her shoulders slightly. "Any weapon can be learned to be used properly, though I'm not sure lightsabers are for me." She patted the rifle with her free hand. "I like firearms just fine." She smiled at Crystaall. "Though I've seen what a lightsaber can do; they're quite impressive."Leftenant Asha Bonafeld, Epsilon Group, 4th Battalion, 1st Airborne Commando Support Brigade, GALSAF On approach to Tibannopolis, Bespin lifezone Asha nodded as Leftenant @kaytra confirmed her orders. Roger that, Leftenant. She replied, confirming the target lock on the Star Destroyer's hangar bay as Kaytra voiced the same concerns Asha had been thinking herself. She looked up from her console, traversing her gaze back and forth around the floating city. Asha could see any fighters in the sky, though suspicion began to build in her mind. Leftenant, do you think they know we're coming, and are keeping their fighters prepped in the hangar for launch? I understand those heavy doors can take a while to open, maybe they just want to surprise us with a launch?Asha glanced back down at her read outs, seeing nothing but the larger pirate vessels, alone. A pair of Acclamator-I cruisers, two Venators, and several smaller support craft, such as gunboats. If they know we're coming, they'll be able to launch those fighters before we're in range to strike the bay itself. And we don't have the fire power on this gunship alone to make it through. And if they're privy to our plan, they might just fire on the Venator themselves if we manage to get on board. That'll scrap the entire plan. What should we do, Leftenant? Asha asked Kaytra, the concern evident in her voice. Asha wasn't sure what support the Jensaarai had prepared for the mission, but she knew the only support assets GALSAF had brought consisted of their gunship alone.

*Crystaall continued smiling at Ali.*
"My combat style with a lightsaber is even more impressive than just the weapon itself. I never had to use this small HUD when I had an AI in my head, but they give me a unique ability. Both give me the choice of attack vector, enemy resistance on how I attack, readings of how an enemy will react for each attack and how I can kill or disable my enemy in one quick stroke. I've calibrated it to scan for attack vectors for waves of enemy so I know how to attack one enemy after another, without any stopping point. Jedi normally can do that on their own, but since I've been trained and re-trained multiple times in the ways of combat, I had to develop my own style with the little help of my astromech droid. He has recorded every attack strike I can make. He's a useful little guy, but he's a little too brave for his size."
*Crystaall looked at all the GALSAF troops in the gunship and sighed.*
"I almost feel like I'm 14 again, doing a joint assault with many of my older hunter buddies."
*Crystaall then looked at Ali and let her shoulders fall to her side.*
"Sorry for the bad reminiscing. I really didn't get the chance to say goodbye to any of them when I left that line of work. They all died before me, matter of fact they all died keeping a me, a kid , safe. I just think back and ask myself why. I was a kid, and they knew I knew what I was doing, but risked their damn lives to save me. Idiots. The only good I've done was when I fell farther than I should have, and took revenge on each and every person that killed them...."
*Crystaall stopped herself and punch the closest door.*
"Goddammit!! I hate it when I weep and moan like this. I act like a goddamn damsel in distress. I do no good looking back at the past. Kriffing mood swings

Ali listened to Crystaall Sehefadu's description of her combat abilities and training methods. They sounded very similar to how Mandalorian helmet systems functioned. Ali's helmet was packed with a variety of sensor packages and programs that allowed for more information manipulation than Ali could even come up with uses for. Targeting and sensory data, even the first person view of an individual's helmet, could be transmitted over some of the fastest and most secure connections available. Battle plans could be drawn onto stills and even live images of an area, creating a living playbook by which Ali and her commandos could execute their operations. These helmets, working in conjunction with their armor systems, were capable of relaying a commando's physical and mental condition as well and their camera systems allowed for each commando to maintain a 360-degree view of their surroundings, so nothing was left amiss."Impressive, Crystaall," Ali replied, her eyebrows jumping slightly in surprise. She had learned a lot about Jedi training methods during her time with the Defense Force on Yavin 4, though she hadn't learned as much about non-Jedi methods as she would have liked. The Sith had been a focus, but then again, theirs were the simplest: Pain, pain and more pain. And through that pain, you somehow became really good at killing people. A ridiculous ideology, though it seemed to work for Dark Siders well enough. Ali silently commended Crystaall with a sweet smile. The Jensaarai woman looked around the enclosed troop bay, eyeing the other soldiers, then commented on the memories it brought to her of assaults carried out with old hunting mates. Ali's lips maintained their smile until Crystaall's composure began to deteriorate, and sadness leaked into her voice. Angrily, Crystaall chided herself for past failures, began slamming a fist into the side panel of the bay door. Instantly, Ali was at her side, gently wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her against her hip. She shook Crystaall slightly, muttering, "Hey, don't get down on yourself. We've got an objective to fulfill and we need you at your best. I need you at your best. Royut cuyi royut, Crystaall. The past is the past." Ali whispered, her voice firm, confident. "People will say you can't change it, but you can. By doing better." Ali lightened her hold on the other woman just enough to look her in the eyes. "I'll keep you on the straight and narrow, ori'haat, I swear?"

Letting out a slow breath she hit her com.*
::Two minutes till LZ. Hangar bay doors on the Venator Star Destroyer are open, no sign of hostiles::
*The last bit Kaytra knew was unnecessary to relay to the others, but if she was right, something was wrong. She then turned her attention to Asha.*
::Leftenant. Keep your eyes on that hangar. If anything starts coming out of that thing, then I want a missle heading straight for that hangar. With any luck it will at least catch them off guard or slow a few coming out of that thing::

*Crystaall was surprised by Ali's reaction to her sadened state. and blinked her eyes as Ali shook her. The woman was more sensitive and more caring than she thought. Any normal leader would have told her to quit whining and get focused. But Ali, just encouraged Crystaall to act better for her past, and to be at her A game for this mission. She agreed. The time for weeping over long dead friends were over, and it was definitely not needed on the battlefield. Crystaall rolled her shoulders back and let out a deep breath.*
"Promise me you won't try to save me if I jump off this Destroyer to try and regroup with the infiltration team, if things go wrong. I've trained myself to push my body over its own limit and survive impossible injuries and stunts of glory."

Ali smiled gently at Crystaall Sehefadu, understanding of both her pain and her determination. They were qualities Ali both admired and respected. She let her hand rest at the small of Crystaall's back just a moment longer as she spoke, her words soft. "If you jump, I'll jump with you." She whispered. Her soldiers were more than capable of operating without her, in fact they worked best that way. GALSAF commandos wrote their own orders, planned their own missions. Ali was just another rifle, an individual contributing to the strength of the whole. She let her hand fall from Crystaall's back as Leftenant @kaytra's voice sounded over the onboard comm system. Two minutes till LZ. Hangar bay doors on the Venator Star Destroyer are open, no sign of hostiles.Ali responded quickly, her mind still on thoughts of Crystaall and the pain of her past. Copy that, Leftenant. Keep on the objective, don't break, even if you see enemies deploy. The second we're in range, hit that hangar with everything you've got. Hot or cold, we're going in. Ali checked her weapon one last time, then slapped her thigh with her free hand. "Up and at 'em, boys, jump positions!" She called, staying at Crystaall's side and reaching up for one of the stability straps overhead. The other commandos inside the troop bay complied with her orders, each standing and taking positions before the gull-wing doors, their weapons and equipment strapped to their kits. The gunship rocked slightly as more power went to the engines, and the interior launch light indicators at the front of the bay turned yellow. Two minutes out.Leftenant Asha Bonafeld, Epsilon Group, 4th Battalion, 1st Airborne Commando Support Brigade, GALSAF On approach to Tibannopolis, Bespin lifezoneAsha confirmed Leftenant Kaytra's orders with a "Copy" and confirmed the missile lock on the hangar bay entrance. To avoid their lock being detected, Asha only locked in the coordinates at the hangar bay entrance, rather than the vessel itself. All's ready, we're on approach. She reported back.

*Crystaall closed her eyes and grinned at Ali's subtle words. That jump would be hard enough to survive on her own, not to mention she only knows how much her body can take, and to prepare for another would take at least a month.*
"I'll have to carry you, ya know."
*When Crystaall saw the yellow light and Ali gave word for a two minute window for prepparation, Crystaall checked her weapons, making sure each device wouldn't fall apart. She put her pistols back in their holsters and took out her lightsaber from her her back pocket. The dull phrik metal was a good contrast to the intricate dragon design that went around the whole handle. When one looked closely, it was shaped to where the design tol where the user's fingers should be located. Crystaall did just that. She held it up to her chest and made sure no one was too close to her as she ignited the blade. It had a bright red shine, and crystaall sighed as she deactivated the blade.*
"This saber is my first hand-crafted lightsaber. I thought It wouln't work so I had to trest it real quick. And don't ask why its red. It's close to my armor color. Sithspit! I knew I forgot something."
*Crystaall took off every peice of gear she had, and handed them to the trooper behind her not caring if he lost his balance. She took off her necklace and pressed the jewel within the middle. Suddenly her armor began to form around her arm it soon lapped over her trench coat, pants and boots, as well as her other arm. The only thing uncover was her head. She took her weapons from the trooper, putting them back in the places they were originally set up in early. and held the lightsaber in her right hand. Her crimson red armor glowed with the reflection of the yellow light its red and white design as well as how smooth the armor was showed that its wearer would be still flexible, yet stronger in the armor. This was Crystaall's personal Spartan armor: Model 7*
"I'm ready.. not sure about the guy behind me though."

Ali laughed in response to Crystaall Sehefadu's offer to carry her if they jumped, glad the other woman had taken her comment seriously, for she had meant it. Ali curtsied sarcastically, a playful smile on her lips. "Well, I think I've got the figure for it." She joked, straightening up once more and reaching for an overhand strap. They were down to just under two minutes. Ali began counting down in her head as Crystaall showed her the hand-carved lightsaber she had constructed. Ali's eyebrows arched, surprisedly, "You made that? By hand?" Ali was obviously impressed. She knew Force Users of most sects constructed their own bladed weapons, but never had she seen one as intricate or well-thought after. It was the sort of thing that could only belong to one person. And if Ali were meeting Crystaall in a line up, for the first time, she would have guessed it was hers. Ali considered the similarities between Crystaall and herself. Both of them maintained similar values and moral direction, though Ali's tended to stray from time to time. Their upbringings, while not identical, contained elements that had both helped shape the women they were to be when they met. Even their craftsmanship were bridged in ways; Crystaall with her lightsaber and Ali with her armor. Both were objects of great personal meaning and importance, reminders of the past as much as they were tools to shape both the present and the future. Shaking herself back from her moment of thought, Ali realized she had lost her count, and checked her chrono. Still a minute left. Crystaall was swearing, declaring that she had forgotten something, and quickly began to strip the gear from her body, handing them over to Sergent He'gai, who grasped them awkwardly in his surprise. Crystaall briefly touched the jewel around her neck and Ali watched in amazement as armor plating began to form around her arms and back, appearing around her ankles and legs, stomach and breasts. Ali had seen a lot of crazy things in her day, but nothing like what she was seeing now. An armor system that appeared out of no where, conforming to its owners shapely body. Suddenly, Ali realized how warm she was, her cheeks slightly flushed, but hopefully imperceptibly so in the dim red lighting of the troop bay. "Now that is impressive," Ali muttered, throwing formalities aside and running her hands over Crystaall's shoulders and breast, feeling the smooth cocoon that had materialized around the Jensaarai woman. She felt as far down as Crystaall's stomach, looking up at the woman with a gleam in her eye."Keep your secrets, by all means, but you have to tell me something about this when we're done here." She said, pulling her hands away as Crystaall began rearming herself. Ali loved her beskar'gam1 with all her heart, it was as much a part of her as her own hands. She could tell that Crystaall felt the same about her own armor. Distracted by a call over the comm, Ali noticed the count was at thirty seconds and she could see the hangar bay of the enemy cruiser on the outside display screen built into the forward bulkhead of the troop bay.1: Mandalorian armor, made of beskar

*Kaytra kept the countdown going in her head. Thirty seconds could sometimes feel like a lifetime. As she gunship closed in on the Star Destroyer, Kaytras heart almost stopped. Without warning dozens of fighters began pouring out off the hangar and began to lay down fire on the gunship. Swearing loudly she rolled right, putting the ship almost completely on its side, to avoid the first volley from the fighters. She felt some guilt as not being able to warn the gunships occupants sooner, by now they were getting an unexpected ride. Instinctively she began to yell through the comlink.*
::Conctact! Brace yourselves people!::
*Less experienced pilots would have turned away from the fighters. She, however, was not most pilots. Gripping the yoke firmly, she dodge in and out of the swarm of hostiles and closed in on the hangar. Most of the shots she dodged, but some glanced off the ship, causing it to shudder and gave threats of a quick demise.*
::Leftenant, open fire! we're not going to get another shot!::

*Crystaall patted her chest with on of her arms and then patted Ali on the shoulder. It made the same metalic noise. Crystaall wondered if Ali woul unerstand by that, that the armor was made out of beskar. It was her only peice of equipment she cared for more, than her own lightsabers.*
"Both the lightsaber and this armor is built by hand. I've had to make adjustments over the years once I hit my teenage years and now. This armor was in development by my bounty hunter trainer. I perfected it. Best of all, is that it is made out of beskar with a pure cortosis weave. No one is breaking this. Before we go into combat I want to let you in on a secret. My first trainer was a Mandolorian. And if I carry you, you better be ready for the knockback when I land, it will hurt you about a pinch as much as it will me, but it will hurt.""

=Garwig Gil Ga'Mesh= A response to Ali via the comm between her and Garwig came to her.:: You may launch now, Ali. And last I checked, the rest of the attack team along with some of Cloud City's sky patrol should be there soon to provide you all backup. You can let sky patrol take care of any fighters in the sky above the upper levels while both teams on the larties storm the Venator-class in the confusion of the attack. While that occurs, the infiltration team will fly to the lower levels of the floating city via thrantas during the said confusion of the attack to not get noticed either. ::The Saarai-kaar said over the comm as the lartie holding some of the tyrosaarai's and bounty hunters amongst the Jensaarai appeared behind the lartie Ali was in. In the far distance to currently keep away from the pirates radars, the small sky patrol fleet from Cloud City held their position to be given the word from the Baron to advance and begin the attack in the sky.=Leon Calrissian= Leon heard the anger in Ali's voice through the comm, though he did not understand one bit of what she said. Was the strangest form of Huttese he'd ever heard, not knowing that the lady was clearly speaking Mandoa. :: Err...right. Sure thing, my sweet. Just give the word and I'll tell the sky patrol to attack the upper levels of Tibannopolis. Those onboard this lartie are ready as well to jump alongside you guys into the hangar of the star destroyer too. ::He told Ali as he saw those in the lartie get prepared for any battles within the Ventator-class. Maahes had his lightsaber ready, as did Yumiko, while Meg made sure her songsteel sword was still at her side. Gogan however looked ominous in the aircraft. Whatever he hid underneath that large coat he wore, it probably wasn't nice. Baron thought of going too, but perhaps it was best he remain on the lartie to help give instructions to sky patrol in the sky battle...... =Garwig Gil Ga'Mesh= Meanwhile, within about five to three minutes of approaching Tibannopolis lower levels, the infiltration team on their thrantas were able to now see the floating city within their sights. Far far above them, Garwig could sense that the attack team was close to the upper levels of the floating city. Once Ali gave the word out on the comm that the attack would start, the Saarai-kaar would tell his team to fly their thrantas faster to the area of the lower levels where the pirates barracks should be located. Not too far from him was Sylas and the Imperial Knight sent by Xeonon Solomon, named Finnick. Garwig hoped that Crystaall Sehefadu was doing ok up there with Ali, as well as the rest of the gang that was sent to join in the attack team. Until then, the Saarai-kaar did his best to enjoy the ride while he rode the flying creature he was on and held on tightly to the reigns.

Ali arched an eyebrow, Crystaall Sehefadu had just furthered her amazement. Beskar's qualities lay in its hardiness. It had the ability to repel energy and kinetic force without the bonds between its molecules suffering any weakening. But it required years of training to know even the first thing about shaping the material, methods Ali had briefly learned in the years before arriving on Yavin 4 and had always wanted to expand upon. Suddenly, she felt both extremely attracted to and jealous of, the woman standing before her as the heat of her skin grew to her neck. Their time was short, and Crystaall had filled much of it with her own words, but Ali managed to eke out an astonished response. "I have so many questions!" She professed, her hands brought once more to Crystaall's slender body, running her hands over her stomach, chest and arms. Lightly, she rapped on the material with a closed fist, feeling the dull ring that the armor emitted. It was beskar, to be sure, though the cortosis weave was near impossible to see. "Who was your trainer? How did they manage to weave the cortosis in? Does the cortosis weaken any of the bonds of the beskar itself?" Ali prattled shortly, amazed by the plating Crystaall sported. The armor was one of the most advanced systems she'd ever seen, and Ali didn't want to let Crystaall go. Unable to stop herself, Ali laughed, "I'm so excited I could kiss you right n--" Suddenly, and without warning, the floor beneath Ali's feet shifted violently as the gunship was wrenched sideways in mid-flight. Ali felt herself thrown against the bay door, the rest of the platoon likewise shaken so abruptly they were thrown from their feet. All sound and noise was diffused to a loud rushing sound in Ali's ears, then silence pervaded utterly. Time seemed to slow and Ali watched as Crystaall was likewise thrown from her feet in front of her. Pain erupted throughout the back of Ali's skull as she was slammed against the side of the ship, her legs trapped by several other armored bodies. In the distance, the far distance, Ali could hear the onboard comms system screaming and lock-on alarms blaring.Cont…ce you…s…p…ple!!! Was all Ali could discern from the distant cries of the comms system. Her vision blurred as the pain in her head grew, her neck throbbing. Her rifle hung in mid-air for several long moments until the gunship shifted violently once more, slamming its occupants onto the floor.
Apparently their surprise attack hadn't been much of a surprise...Leftenant Asha Bonafeld, L-44-E Epsilon Group, 4th Battalion, 1st ACSB, GALSAF Asha felt her eyes widen as the hangar bay of the oncoming Star Destroyer began to vomit enemy fighters. They streamed out in mass, just as she had feared they might. Leftenant @kaytra yanked hard on the stick, throwing the gunship onto its side, avoiding the first streams of enemy missiles and laser fire. Asha felt her heart leap into her throat as the gunship cut hard to the side. She kept her wits about her as best she could, remembering the conflict on Contruum some months before, and the terrors she had seen Nexus' armies wreck on the planet and its population. With deft hands, Asha brought the gunship's nose-mounted cannons to bear on the fighters that were screaming towards them, not bothering to wait for a target lock. She put full force into her fire, watching as hundreds of fierce red bolts lanced ahead and flared against their enemies' shields. The tactic worked in causing several of the fighters to veer off in fear of their own safety, and more than one exploded brilliantly in the sky before them, though still they came, greater in number than their gunship alone could handle. Quickly, Asha brought the composite beam weapons online, and suddenly four vibrant green lances of energy began to cut swaths through the river of fighters seeking to destroy them. Vessels were shorn in half, their shields ignored by the strength of the composite beams, their fuselages and stabilizers turned into little more than debris to be brushed away with the winds of the planet's lifezone. She knew Leftenant Kaytra was doing her best, keeping them on course for the hangar, though her fears began to grow as she watched dozens of the fighters that had passed them in the initial wave now doubling back for a second chance at destroying them all. The gunship was equipped with two aft laser cannons, though Asha knew they wouldn't be near enough to turn away the hostile fighters striking towards them from behind.Kaytra! She heard herself almost screaming. Hostiles six, hostiles six!!! I've got nothing for them! She knew her words were useless, Kaytra was well aware of their aft-end vulnerability, even if she wasn't actively watching the scanners herself. But Asha only felt like a coward as long as she refrained from doing something. Thinking quickly, Asha activated the controls for the rear equipment bay, which was attached directly to the troop bay. Keying the loading ramp for opening, Asha took a deep breath and spoke into the open comms.Everyone, hold on to something for your life, I'm opening the back. She waited no more than a handful of seconds before dropping the rear ramp. With it, the gunship's four scout bikes and various explosive ordnance was jettisoned from the rear of the vessel and sent tumbling through the air towards the oncoming enemy fighters. Targeting the debris the moment it came into view of the aft weapon systems, Asha began firing desperately. Laser bolts screamed through the air from the rear of the gunship, missing anything and everything Asha wanted to hit. She grew exasperated and angry as she continued to hold down the weapon's trigger of both hands. Finally, deep within the heart of the enemy formation, Asha's gambit paid off. A grouping of laser bolts struck the fuel cells of one of the speeder bikes and another hit one of the ordnance crates. The gunship shook violently and Asha was thrown forward against her restraints as the flames of the resulting blast nearly swallowed the ship whole. Alarms wailed as fire engulfed the cockpit's bubbled viewport. When her vision cleared enough, Asha checked the scanner display, overjoyed to see a mass of the fighters no longer appeared, and the rest to their rear had been dispersed by the blast. We're clear, just get us to the hangar!
