*Maggy had plenty of time to get acquainted with the training area since her arrival here. She and Shari would often spar or challenge each other to various contests just to keep each other on the edge of their game. As well as distracted. That she was now being taken here by a Master, well, the occasion felt a bit more serious.
She sat upon the ground when instructed, watching as he laid out the items for her training. Silently she examined them a moment. They were almost like children's toys to a Jedi... but she knew that he was just trying to gauge her abilities. Deciding to get the less-interesting activity out of the way, she answered,* "The rocks. I assume you want me to stack them?"

"I see you've done this before." He chuckled as he spread out the rocks, using the Force himself. "In that case, I want you to do more than stack them. These are stones I found in my exile in the jungle. They are more a part of this planet than any Jedi could hope to be. I want you to see what they have to share with you as you lift them. This world is strong in the Force and can teach you much. But only if you listen for it." Eruestan sat down across from Maggy, watching her closely, examining her technique and her presence in the Force.

*Of course. She should've known it wouldn't be as simple as just stacking. After all, most Jedi instructors in her experience tended to put more faith in their students, especially those who had been with the Order for a while. She nodded, exhaled, then focused on the rocks before her, mentally arranging them in the best order.
She raised her had and started by pulling a stone she thought would make the sturdiest base into a more central position. Then, she focused on the next stone, lifting it up as she said,* "When I first came here, I felt something interesting... the world felt like a person almost. It felt like it somehow recognized me... Later I found out it was because my cousin was linked to this place..."

He knew the feeling she described well, after all, he had spent several years listening to the planet and letting it teach him. Even before his exile, he had always felt and seen the planet as an individual. "Yes, this place is strong in the Force, and it tends to mark those who come here. It is very sensitive and attuned to itself and the actions that happen upon it. If the balance is tipped too far to one side, it could be catastrophic for the health of this planet, especially the natives." Eruestan continued to watch her. She would find some of these stones hard to balance, though if she listened to them, they would tell her just how she should stack them.

*While the second stone seemed to place perfectly, it wobbled just as she released it. She quickly reestablished a hold as it jostled while simultaneously trying to follow Master Duskhand's words. Fortunately, it was a concept she was already familiar with, so she only nodded as she focused on her task. She turned the underside up to face her and examined it with a frown, looking down at the first rock as well. Relying on her own ingenuity, she rotated the rock and set it back down in a more agreeable position. One that was not quite as sturdy as she had hoped, as it wobbled slightly, but it would do for now.*

Eruestan watched as she realigned one of the stones. Maggy was on the right track, though he wanted to see if she could stack all four first before moving on. She was clearly more proficient than he had expected at first, so perhaps the drones wouldn't be a necessary test. Perhaps something a little more advanced.

*As she continued, she only found herself struggling. The third rock took much coaxing to keep still, even forcing her to rearrange the second to where it had been. The fourth rock refused to remain steady, and after several attempts she realized it was futile. Frustrated but in control, she disassembled the stack entirely and examined each of them closely. She almost thought she could hear whispers... a curious phenomenon, and yet one she pursued.
Almost as though guided by the stones themselves, she began anew. This time, the task was much simpler and was carried out in next to no time. She hesitated upon placing the fourth rock, watching, waiting for it to fall as she released her hold... But it remained steady, and she exhaled in relief.*

A proud smile filled Eruestan's face. Good, to see you listening. The stack was almost identical to when he had made it out in the wilds. The Knight stood up and motioned for her to do the same.
You seem to have the basics down pat. Now, let's see what you can do for combat.
Adjusting his sabers power to low, he switched on his golden blade. Taking up the opening stance of Form V, his most proficient form.
Now, let's see how you handle a saber.

*The words "combat training" briefly drew her brown gaze to the training remote, but it was quickly stolen by the motion of Master Duskhand taking up his lightsaber. She was surprised, not having expected a spar so soon. Taking a quick, steadying breath, she exhaled and removed her own blade from her belt, adjusting it to low power as well before the green blade came to life.
She then took her stance, a rather generic one; she had not yet decided on a form that best suited her style.* "I'm ready," *she announced.*

Observing her opening stance and her blade's color. Typically green was used by Councilors, and those that followed that path, but he couldn't judge since he was more of a Guardian than Sentinel. Soon he advanced, making at first easy to read and broad strikes. He gave pointers on foot positioning and how best to block certain strikes. Eruestan only struck at half speed, not wanting to over power her or be too fast. The whole time monitoring her style and if there was a form she seemed to be tending towards despite her not knowing them.

*Maggy defended against each blow, making small adjustments on the fly as directed. She kept two hands on the blade at all times, not once removing a hand, feeling more comfortable this way. Assuming it was a defensive drill, she didn't bother making any attempts at counterattacks just yet, letting him walk her through the motions instead.*

Once he was satisfied with her work on blocks, Eruestan stepped away.
Now, I want you to try and strike me with your saber.
He brought his saber up once more, ready to block her first moves.

*And there was the invitation. She knew this wouldn't be easy: Masters never really left room for their apprentices to strike. That's why they were Masters. She hesitated for several seconds before taking her first steps forward and aiming an overhead slash at his midsection, fully expecting it to go nowhere, before following up with a horizontal strike from the opposite side.*

The Knight brought his blade up to meet hers with a horizontal block to her first strike, before seemingly letting his wrist go limp as it rotated down into a vertical block for her second strike. Once deflected, he brought the saber back up and around to the ready position again.
Good, good. Now, faster!

*Faster? She could oblige, repeating the same motions at a quicker speed, only this time adding a third strike aimed at his left knee. She had no confidence in her abilities... But was that a mistake? It was just a training exercise though, was it meant to be taken that seriously? Doubt suddenly entered her mind, and she did her best not to let it claim her.*

Eruestan could feel her doubt, more through her strikes than the Force. After she finished her sequence, and he returned to his ready stance, he looked her over. Yes he could sense it for sure now. She was doing a good job controlling it.
Now, we will spar, be ready my padawan.
As they traded strikes and blocks, he asked the question.
Why are you unsure? I can see it in you Lightsaber work, and in your face.

*Maggy indeed held in her doubts, not addressing them even as the steps became a true spar. She became a little more focused as the movements became more serious, but still the lingering doubts remained. It wasn't until a lull in the spar, as their blades crossed, that Master Duskhand asked why she felt so uncertain. After a brief hesitation, she answered,* "I... don't know how hard I should be trying, Master. I know I'm not capable of landing any blows on you, so I don't know if I should be giving it all or just learning the rhythms."

Eruestan smiled at her form across their locked blades.
Try your hardest. I want to see what you are capable of doing. And then we can build on that.
He pulled away from her to give her the chance of coming at him again, but hopefully this time with all she could muster.

*Give her all... She nodded once, still wondering what the point of doing so against a fully-trained Knight was, but opting not to question it. She stepped forward and thus began her attack, with far more enthusiasm than before. The lightsabers were on low power mode, so harming her Master was not a concern for her in the slightest. Truth be told, even if the lightsaber was at normal power, she still wasn't concerned about harming him, mainly because she still doubted she could land a hit on him.*

As the assault commenced, he took note of where her strengths and weaknesses were. The Jedi could still sense her doubt and he guessed why. She doubted her own ability, he could tell in some of her strikes. Perhaps he should boost her confidence? So, he started one of the more dangerous sequences he knew, meant to be high risk higher pay off. At the speed he was moving it would be easy to block, but it would also leave him open for longer. Hopefully she would take the opportunity to score a hit and boost her confidence.
