There are options. the question is, what is it you want to do?

There are options. the question is, what is it you want to do? I prefer skirmishes, raids, and battles but I wouldn't be bothered if I was called on to bodyguard someone, hunt someone down, or do anything else.

Okay folks,
I've had an idea for a series of border incursions and skirmishes along the border of the Southern GA-FO border.
Essentially this will operate like a fighter incursion in the modern world would - the Syrian incursions into Israeli airspace a few decades ago or the Turkish incursions into Greek airspace today being a prime example, except this will end in moderate violence.
The main idea here is that a task unit crosses the border, is met by a scrambled force and subsequently withdraws.
These incursions will be on a small scale, with one to two medium to large ships and plenty of Fighters. There will be no major ship losses, we aren't fighting for a strategic advantage, this "campaign" exists on a purely tactical/nuisance level. We won't be hitting planets.
I will talk to Nic and the GA folk, to see if a slightly larger fight between two squadrons, where a capital ship or two may be lost, but in most engagements the intruder will retreat even in the event of an overwhelming tactical victory.
Now, I'd like to ask who's interested. While obviously this is largely naval, it's also the perfect cover for more covert operations. What more stylish way to enter enemy borders is there than sneaking past a firefight that weakens border security?

Consider me interested. My posting will be slow as the phone keyboard is small, but I think I can swing it.
Ps. Hello from the other side. Road life is interesting but I am starting to settle into it. Still nowhere to hook up my laptop though. I might have to look into getting a tablet. Still no discord though.

So, I've already thrown the idea out to the FO side of things, and I would like to do the same here. With the return of the Firefist Pirates, would anyone here be willing to RP with us raiding an Alliance transport and it's escort? Hopefully we can get things moving and get back into the swing of things!

I’ve brought this idea up to a couple people so far, and I figured it was worth mentioning here given the positive feedback so far.
Given the shortage of writers the GA has, what would you guys think about just disbanding the thing. Have the FO make the final push to take over the galaxy. Then the good guys side is made up primarily of the Rebellion/Resistance. Basically multiple rebel cells that work together, starting uprisings and hitting FO targets. All the while, they work with isolated governments that are still independent of the FO.
Just an idea. Might be good, might be bad. The more support for this, the better it will be. We just seem to have stalled dead in the water. This might help jump start this.

I am not a fan. of this idea. There is a raid getting ready to start soon. It may be slow moving, but I am ok with it. I know I have been one of the problems as real life has been keeping me away, but I kind of like the way we have things going.

I may not be a GA writer, but from a naritive stand point I like seeing multiple galactic powers on relatively even ground. It's one of my main grips against the new trilogy is that it reset to being an insurgency vs empire. But again that's just my opinion.

Hey, if the GA was actually on a relatively even ground with the FO, wouldn’t have suggested this to anyone. As is, the FO has a vastly larger military than the GA (FO has a total of what, 8 or 9 armies? GA has a total of 3 armies, maybe 4). Pretty sure the only reason the FO hasn’t taken over already, is because they have been narratively handicapping themselves OOC...

I'm not a GA writer exactly, although I do have a bit of experience with the whole "good guy" faction thing. And personally I really really like the idea. The GA is sort of handicapped when it comes to military power, but that doesn't matter if you're fighting hit and run wars against the GA, with a few independents standing up and making their own little mini-empires to keep their own systems independent. Honestly I see it as a new and quite interesting dynamic that we haven't seen on JvS before.

Whatever drives narrative and interest the writers. I would be for. I like the scrappy ragtag insurgency.

I mentioned this elsewhere. What is the difference in one group "controlling worlds" and not playing them and another group controlling them and not playing them

Because that's not actually what's being talked about. It's one group condensing itself into a smaller more manageable geographic area/non location based existence. It's letting the FO take over "control" of most of the galaxy so we can have some cool "look the bad guys are winning so we must use hope and such to rally together and all that nonsense" stuff. It's basically just an interesting dynamic change for the galaxy at large.

That's part of what Im eant by non location based existence.. which is still location based I know, I'm bad with words, but it's not location ownership so it counts as me making sense. haha
