There existed no words to describe how perplexed Adelle was to suddenly find herself in the entrance to a grand affair in what was so obviously a palace. The silver sheath dress she now found herself in dumbfounded her further. Her complaint did not lie with the attire at all: far from it, it was all very classy and elegant from the asymmetrical neckline to the hem brushing against the floor. She just never wore these things and her status as a former CorSec liaison agent never warranted an invitation. Her brain was, however, able to make the logical observation that there was a bar and it did in fact serve alcohol. If she was to be here for any amount of time—and seeing as how she had no idea how she got there in the first place—she was going to take something to calm her nerves first.
After all, parties were so much more fun with alcohol involved.

The droids slid back and staggered at her Pull. Na'an fumbled at her belt. Sluggish. Pained. Exhausted. Her own breath came quick and her pulse quicker. The epinephrine wouldn't last for much longer now. She shouldn't waste it. Adelle rushed the droids, snapping her lightsaber to life. They split at her charge and flanked. Adelle's breath caught in her throat as she blocked one yellow blade only to dodge the other a split-second later. She ducked and spun back, trying to get them both in front of her. They moved with her, rushing and lunging. She parried twice and forced her breathing to remain even. The Force moved much faster than she'd ever felt before. Block, parry, dodge block block sidestep dodge. The aggressive charge she'd made before now melted into a defensive circle. A yellow blade scored the stone where her foot had been. She felt the heat from the blade. Too close. She couldn't keep up this kind of pace for long, not without an answer to the second blade. Na'an. She had two hilts. Adelle batted away a blade with her off-hand and stretched it out towards Na'an. She flipped over a lateral strike meant to cut through her side and caught a hilt much smaller than she was used to. The shoto. Red sprang to life along side blue and Adelle slipped back into the fastest part of the Force's current. The blades became a whirlwind of activity as she answered the droids blow for blow.
There. An opening in the flow. Just a split second between strikes. She ducked below the strike from one, batted the other blade away, and opened up both droids stances for a heartbeat. Red and blue tore through durasteel, wires, and sensitive components. The upper halves of the droids toppled to the ground as the legs fell over lifeless. Her arms shook. Sweat dripped down her brow. Force, she felt like crap. Adelle forced herself to straighten up and stand.
"Na'an," she said, chest heaving. "Are—Are you alright? No, 'course not. C'mon, I can—"
"You will do nothing, Knight Bastiel." Fours entered the hall and walked briskly to Na'an. He inspected the wound then lifted Na'an like she weighed nothing. "You have overexerted yourself. Again. Time of recovery is now delayed. Please re-enter the Medical Centre as soon as possible."
Adelle nodded, unable to speak for breathing. Her legs felt like stone even as her knees and hands shook. Fours was right. As usual.

Tap. Tap. Tap. Adelle pressed her thumb to the small black plate, not even feeling the prick as it drew blood through the callouses. The screen switched and read "Processing Biometric Validation": Adelle withdrew her thumb and waited for her DNA to confirm the all-clear she just keyed in. Metal taps on the large blast doors just outside the main offices let her know that the training droids hadn't given up yet. That sonuvabitch AI was frustratingly persistent; why hadn't Dav killed it when he had the chance? A trickle of silver eased its way into her Force awareness, dim and near lifeless. Adelle stiffened at the pain. Na'an. The biometric pad blinked green and slid back into the wall, a loading circle underneath the phrase "Lifting Code Black Lockdown." Tension wound into her shoulders and tightened her jaw. Something wasn't right. The silence was too much, she could hear every—
The silence.
Adelle looked at the doors. There wasn't another tap.
The droids.
She sprinted out of the main office. The front doors seemed so far away. She breathed in the Force and willed her body to obey. Faster. She had to get there faster. The blast doors opened so slowly. Adelle dove through the opening and rolled to her feet. As soon as she let go of the Force Speed, she used it to yank the droids away from Na'an. If they were going to fight anyone, it would be her.

Heat. It was in every move of Sarah's body, every touch of her skin, every breath on her lips. Adelle felt it in the rhythm of their bodies and in the raw desire radiating in the Force. And it was heat that lulled her to sleep, entangled in Sarah's arms.
I own you.
Adelle woke with a start as something brushed her face. The stranger wasn't him but it was his voice she heard. His touch she felt. She'd been here before, with him. Unwilling. Unable to escape. Nausea settled like a rock in Adelle's stomach as she quickly turned from Sarah and slipped from the bed to sit on the cold floor. It helped. She shoved a fist into her mouth to stop the heaving, the sobbing, and the screaming from coming out. It helped a little.

Adelle crossed her arms and leaned against the table as the man sat up. Something he muttered snagged on a thought in her brain but it was gone before she could quite focus on it. Fours moved with a tray of what little rations the med droids had been able to scrounge up during the surgery. Mostly juice and protein bars. Adelle ground her teeth when Aherk next spoke.
"Who said anything about a tower?" she said, remarkably even. "Decapitation is a much more efficient use of resources."
"Master Jedi," the BXS said. "There are seven standard minutes remaining before the Code Black lockdown initiates purge. Please confirm contaminant free status."
Shit. She'd forgotten the time limit. "Right. I'll take care of it." Adelle turned to Fyarr. "Stay put. The worst is over."

She. He had to be referring to Na'an. Beyond that, Adelle was simultaneously too tired and too hopped up on adrenaline to think about the why. She shrugged.
"To be honest, I don't know. Somewhere here in the Praxeum," she said. "The Medcenter was placed under lock down for security reasons before your surgery. No one's been outside since and no one has made contact."

Adelle smiled slyly. "I bet you would."
***
To be honest, she didn't remember much of the dinner. She didn't remember any of the misgivings she'd had beforehand. She didn't remember how many bottles of Whyren's Reserve she'd had to go through to actually get drunk. She didn't remember eating or tasting food or drink. She didn't remember what other subtle and not-so-subtle innuendos she and Sarah volleyed. By the time she and Sarah left the restaurant and slid back into the luxury speeder, Adelle's mind could only see red hair and flashing eyes, the scent of citrus and liquor heavy in her lungs. She didn't remember who first moved but she knew the taste of Sarah's lips, the smooth metal of her piercing, the warmth of her jaw.
Adelle couldn't remember much from dinner but to be honest, she didn't care.

Rouge one proves THAT disney is going to earn our hearts. That being said Rouge One is by far my favorite Star War's film to date. Wait is that the SW movie where Vader says "You don't know the power of Maybelline?" and it's a battle between the Mary Kay and Maybelline sides of the Cosmetic Force?

I'm not going to get over it, but a whole new generation is going to be exposed to it and be as passionate about the new lore as I am about the old. I guess I just hate the idea of Disney taking something that felt like it was *ours* and then re-writing it, changing the collective experiences that we've all had as we've suffered through the trash of Luke falling to the dark side and Palpatine getting resurrected twice, and I don't know about you, but I almost quit reading the Yuuzhan Vong books when Chewie died. But there were also incredible moments and I guess what I'm trying to say is that in the books, video games, encyclopedias, and comics that the lore was so rich and so deep and so flushed out, that its sorta painful for me to look on Wookieepedia these days and see "Canon" pages that are only paragraphs long and then you go to the "legends" and see a plethora of knowledge, and I think this shows you how much was lost in the switch... And who knows, maybe after years the Disney star wars will be as flushed out and developed as the EU and I'd be happy for it. But I remain skeptical For me it's quite simple. While i do love the EU, i wouldn't want these Star Wars movies to be based off of something we already know about. It would definitely be exciting to see our EU characters on the big screen as they were, but I don't think it would sit well with me knowing what was to happen already. That's just me though. One word: copyright. Sure, Disney owns the rights to Star Wars, its worlds, and lore; but authors and publishers own the books and original characters. As a fan, I'm a little sad to see the EU classified as "legends" and myths, things that may or may not have actually happened. Sure, it does sting a little. It's a little frustrating to watch new movies come out and feel like remakes of the old ones. At the same time, I understand it. The EU, as mentioned, had a lot of truly awful moments. For every Republic/Imperial Commando and Thrawn series, there was The Crystal Star and Palpatine clones. For every good X-wing book, there was a bad Yuuzhan Vong or The New Jedi Order book (can't remember if those were technically the same). And all that lore came with baggage: authors, copyrights, publishers, agents, paperwork, money. It's more cost effective to cut off official fanfiction or designate them as "legends" than to try and buy the movie rights for a book. Disney felt they could do better; they did with Rogue One, I felt. And maybe the new trilogy needs room to grow and a director that understands the feel of the OT. I don't think Abrams really understood. To be fair, (as far as I know) they've only explicitly stated that the books are legends/non-canon. I know comics are still canon and some video games are still canon. The EU's not gone; merely changing. And as long as it's there, it's something I can live with.

Adelle stared at the ceiling, white specks spinning above her. She squeezed her eyes shut and let her head fall back down to her chest. The ghostly adrenaline rush she'd felt earlier had faded but her heart still pounded inside of her chest. Blood roared in her ears. It had been a while since she needed to use stims and she had just flooded her system with a bunch. When she opened her eyes, the illuminated photoreceptors of Fours was inches from her face. Adelle jumped back.
"My apologies, Knight Bastiel, but the patient is regaining consciousness."
"Thank you, Fours," she said. She rubbed the heels of her palms into her eyes and followed the droid into the recovery room. Her eyes went to the monitors first out of habit: all vitals stable, even if the blood pressure was high. The patient looked pale and in discomfort, but that was to be expected. He did undergo surgery without anesthesia.
"Mr. Fyyar, are you with us?" she asked. Her voice sounded so far away.

"Chakta sai kai," Adelle said, reciting an Old Corellian toast. She took a sip of the liquid fire, feeling its bite at the back of her throat. She felt it burn at her brain and settle in her stomach as she rested the glass on the table. "Only had a follow-up yesterday. I'm here for however long I want to be."
She took another sip of whiskey, feeling bolder. "Which might be some time. But I'm sure you have work and family so I won't monopolize it. Or at least, all of it."
