The young Corellian's smile broadened as he caught the fire in the veteran pilot's eyes. He'd read up on the unit's record, and while it was painfully true that the Sand Panthers were short both on numbers and on administrative success in keeping their unit together, there could be little doubting their raw abilities on the battlefield. It seemed strange, really. He had spent months touring the galaxy, and calling on nearly every major Jedi Enclave, only to find what he was seeking right back here, home on Corellia. Sure, he had found other capable and successful Jedi squadrons, and there was nothing wrong with the Dragons or the Shadows or any of the others, but their missions and their membership just hadn't fit with what he was seeking. The Force had nudged him, telling him to continue looking. And now he knew why. There had been something better out there, waiting to be discovered. The Sand Panthers were all right, they just needed some new blood. And Kel was determined to give them that push.
Kel glanced at the other assembled Masters. "I'm no medical expert, but I do know a thing or two about healing the mind, and I believe Lt. Witwer will heal faster, mentally and physically, if he's flying, instead of sitting at home in an academy like a caged animal." He turned back to Cal. "However," His tone became more serious, and the smile faded. "This can only work if you hold yourself to a high standard of obedience to the Jedi Code. You must remember that you don't fly or fight or to avenge what an enemy did to you, or to ease your own pain through personal triumph. The first sign of trouble, and you're grounded. The same goes for myself, and every other pilot."
It would be the risk, he calculated, to take the man on, so long as it was done with the understanding that it was conditional. And then there was the question of squadron leadership, but he wouldn't go there just yet. It would be best if their new structure grew organically, rather than a relative outsider imposing it.

Kel'Al cracked a smile as he approached the conference table on silent feet, and slumped into a chair, almost casual in his motions. He nodded to Masters Grynt, Saturnia, and Roma, acknowledging each in turn, before turning his attention to Lt. Witwer. Simply speaking, the man did not look right. There was too much tension in how he held himself, and it wasn't just landsickness. There seemed to be something deeper about it, although the Jedi Master was loathe to dig too deeply into a man he barely knew. That would be rather poor Jedi etiquette.
Instead, he responded only to what the pilot had said. "You are quite welcome, Lieutenant. I've never taken well to 'missing in action' as an answer. Defending Corellia is my sworn duty, and than includes bringing home every proud son and daughter of our planet." He paused, choosing his next words carefully, and decided to cut right to the point. "We also, I believe, have a common interest, which is why I paid your squadron a visit in the first place. I have a vision for creating a response team of Jedi pilots, and I need every man and woman I can find."
Kel eyed the man closely, to see how he would respond. His initiative could be just the medicine Cal needed, or it could be a disastrous combination that would finish breaking the man. And he wasn't sure how he was supposed to judge. He would just have to trust the Force to help him discern whether the man was serious about the cause, or was only seeking an escape. It was almost agiven that the rest of the Sand Panthers would join the initiative if Cal assented, but Kel couldn't let his priorities get skewed by his need for pilots, either.

=Queen Mother Emelie Ka= Emelie sat in an ancient wicker chair, rocking comfortably as she looked out over the city from the top of one of the observation towers that crowned the Fountain Palace. As the highest point in this, her capital city, the Queen Mother, or any of her entourage and guests, could gain a stunning view of the surrounding city and countryside from way up here. Tonight was no different than any of the thousands of other nights since Commander Djo's triumph, and yet, the fresh air seemed to smell just a little sweeter, and the sharp reds and yellows of the western sunset seemed just a little more vivid. It was utterly peaceful. Emelie smiled, the corners of her eyes wrinkling with age as she did.

=Jordaan Halcyon= The Jedi Padawan shut down every last system and subsystem on the ancient, shuddering GR-45 transport, then triple-checked the navicomputer to ensure that it had been wiped, aside from the red herring data that Master Raganella had provided. Satisfied at last, Jordaan raised the hood of his cloak, and melted into the shadows in the depths of the ship. Sliding out a garbage disposal shoot at the back of the derelict, he scanned the empty landing pad, before jumping quickly from the freighter and flattening himself against the wall of a nearby shed. His task was almost over now: he just had to get clear of the abandoned vessel, and casually book passage back home to Corellia.
Meanwhile, the Dearic Bargain had it's final resting place. In a couple months, it would be impounded by CorSec, and in a year, it would likely be sold for scrap. Until then, it would serve as a dead end for an undercover Jedi mission. If the Sith had traced it, which seemed likely, it still wouldn't lead them to any definite answers about their visitors, not after the way the techs had scrubbed it. Or so Master Raganella apparently hoped.
Smiling slightly to himself. Jordaan made his way to the public interplanetary taxi office.

Should I just do it? It really just does not seem fair at all. No one ever complained about me doing both jobs, did they? (Well, actually, some people did, but it never stopped us...)

Ok, so as I said on the other thread, in the past I was RPing the Hapans, and where I last left things, the Queen Mother was presumed killed by a Sith occupation, but the Sith had been thrown out once more, and Hapes had rejoined the Republic. The previous Queen Mother's granddaughter Emelie Ka was the heir to the throne, but as she was 5 years old, a long time Hapan military commander (one of the few males in such a role), Willis Djo, was serving as protector. At Ana Rhian's suggestion, we were thinking of moving ahead as if some time had passed, and Emelie is now the well established Queen Mother (possibly even at the end of her reign). I think that also means Djo would have died of old age by now. Other than that, I am quite open to ideas - given the time gap, there is room to add almost back story imaginable. I don't intend to, or have the time to, be involved as the Queen Mother long term, so I welcome the opportunity to pass the throne to Ana Rhian. I just want to see Hapes in good hands, and written in a way that respects the canon Hapes Consortium. Oh, and I do love their ships, too. I believe my Dmitri Koronov alt holds the business registration for those. I'd be happy to transfer that, too, so long as I can come back and buy the odd starfighter...

=Pilot= The freighter pilot frowned as he stared at the miniaturized holo of a Republic customs agent, emanating from just beneath his viewscreen. "What did you say?" He asked the officer incredulously, unable to believe his ears. His freighter was completely empty, how could it have come up on the scanners as loaded with contraband. This had to be a mistake.
=Control= You heard us. Remain on your current heading to 030, and stand by for boarding.
=Pilot= "With all respect sir, I don't know what the chaos you're talking about. This is not a slave ship. In fact, she's empty."
=Control= Then you have nothing to fear. Let us have a quick look and you'll be on your way. The pained, yet patient, voice responded urgently, with just enough of an undercurrent of do-as-we-say-or-else to send chills up the spine of the most hardened criminal.
=Pilot= The grizzled young man's eyes blazed. "Very well." He bit out curtly as he moved to comply.

=Shawna= The CorSec officer looked sceptical as she emerged from the tunnel, her glossy coat shining as it caught the first early morning rays of Corel's light. The tawny Selonian looked left, right, up, and down as she scanned the barren sand and scrubby vegetation of the small island. There was not a sentient in sight anywhere. A disruption on the Baymore beach, the caller had said. Right. Likely story. No one bothered to come here to sunbathe until there was enough sun to bathe in. It smelled like another false emergency call, but like all the other calls in the last week, CorSec had to investigate. It never paid to let their guard down. It was better to follow a hundred false leads than to let one genuine call for help go unaided.
Shawna sniffed, and turned to leave.

=Hadrig= Hadrig sat quietly in the shade of an ancient oak tree near the center of the village as he contemplated the recent political developments in the senate, the increasingly violent and warmongering state of the galaxy, the ever-increasing strain to keep Drall from being caught up in the wars with the Mandalorians and the Sith, and, more generally, the meaning of life and the meaning of pacifism. Occasionally, he sipped from a styrocup of stimcaf, and occasionally his head sank for a moment as he nodded off. The Wingrider had many thoughts and concerns on his mind, but fortunately, they remained distant, and Drall was still a place of peace. But for how much longer?

I am hoping for this Character to rise to become political and thus matriarchal leader and Queen Mother of Hapes. I have no experience writing a type of character such as this and never before have I written a female. I look forward to beginning Ana's journey and am looking for all the involvement and help I can get. For now Ana is a Princess and I don't presume for her to just seize power without having established her character and having built up some experience. Therefore I am hoping someone cold help me and either write the NPC Queen Mother until her death or what have you, or perhaps the Queen Mother is dead and Ana has some form of mentor. Which ever way it would be good to have another involved so I don't have to have her learn the ropes by her self. If I do, then I will and my proposed short term goals are to establish Ana and a small writing team on Hapes. My long term goals are to create a Hapan Navy and possible defense force, to enter Hapes into working relations with the Jedi Order and Galactic Republic and hopefully create some good and interesting roleplay. I wrote the Hapans for a long time, but I never had the time to truly develop them, and everyone else who's helped in the past has disappeared and left me in void. I finally decided to focus my effort elsewhere, and I've been hoping someone else would take over, rather than the Republic losing a powerful ally. I would love to help you get started on this in any way that I can. As of when I last wrote the Hapans, we had just finished removing a Sith occupation from the Hapes Cluster (with fringe elements no doubt still hiding somewhere). The Queen Mother was missing and presumed murdered by the Sith, leaving her 5 year old granddaughter Emelie Ka as her heir, under the protection of Commander Willis Djo, a military general and former advisor of the Queen Mother. We could either work from that, or we could toss it out, pretend a number of years have passed, and start with a fresh backstory. But like Will said, feel free to just jump in. It's perfectly plausible that there would be other Princesses.
