With the clan leaders congregation, Galaar would rise from his seat to start the meeting.
Fellow Mandalorians, it has been some time since we came together. As the main organ of governance for our nation, I requested this meeting to go over a proposal for all clan leaders to consider. And that is the Mandalorian Defense Corps.
Galaar keys his datapad, allowing the document of the MDC's proposal to be sent to those gathered. Various screens lit up as the clan leaders began reviewing the proposal presented by Aliit'ator Fett. There was a structure to it as well as defined roles for the three main branches that would make up this Defense Corps.
The Mandalorian Defense Corps represents the unified effort of the Assembly to police, defend, and expand our boundaries. The Mandalorian Protectors serve as our vanguard, our shocktroopers, that land upon the fields of battle first. The Mandalorian Supercommandos to serve the role of saboteur, of commando, and of those who go above and beyond what is expected of them to ensure we have the intel we need to win engagements. The Journeymen, once the police force of Concord Dawn, to be the police force of all our worlds.
Galaar looks at those gathered before continuing to speak.
The Defense Corps will owe no allegiance to one clan. It will owe allegiance to the Assembly, to our home of Mandalore, and to all Mandalorians. No matter what world we are born on, no matter where we are, we are Mandalorians. And the Defense Corps will represent that unity as a unified military, ensuring the prosperity, the defense, and the expansion of all families.
Galaar then steps back, letting his proposal sink in and waiting to see any of the others desired to speak.

The smallest of the Clan Leaders strode through the doors just as Galaar was putting forth his proposition for the Mandalorian Defense Corps. Thanks to his diminuitive size, the aliit'alor of Clan Ika was able to pass through the crowd mostly unnoticed. Eventually finding a spot on the highest level of seating which gave him a view out across the assembled group of leaders and clan members. Content with remaining a passive observer of the current proceedings for the time being

*Dral reviews the datadoc that appears on his datapad as Galaar finishes talking. Realizing from the document and the speech Galaar was giving, that one of his own Ideas would fit rather nicely into the MDC that Galaar was now proposing.*
Jate'tuur ner vode, some of you may remember me from some time ago, I would like to reintroduce myself to you, and to introduce myself to those of you who do not know or remember me. I am Aliit'alor Dral Marev. Our clan is based here on Mandalore, North of Keldabe. My clan supports the proposal Aliit'alor Fett has laid out for the Mandalorian Defense Corps. Aliit Marev will send as many of our troops to volunteer as wish to go, once they have finished re-settling around our stronghold. In light of Galaar's proposal, I would also like to put forward a proposition. I would like to Re-form the Mandalorian Knights, albeit with some changes from that ancient organization. If any of you are unfamiliar with that bit of our history, the former Mandalorian Knights were made up of Jedi who defected from the Old Republic during the Mandalorian Wars to US because they believed that we would make better rulers of the Galaxy than the Republic of that time.
Dral Paused here to let his words sink in. He had no idea how many of them knew about that.
Ultimately, they failed in their goals, and were captured and taken back to the Republic for trial. I would like for the New Mandalorian Knights to be drawn from our clans and to operate at the direction of the Assembly. The Knights should be full Mandalorians, as recognized by the Assembly, not jetiise defected to us, with their own agendas. I have no particular love of jetiise, nor any love for darjetiise. The Force, however, is a quite useful tool, and sometimes even a weapon, for those who can harness it, provided they don't take it to the pious extremes of the aruetiise. As such, we should take advantage of the edge it could give us. We do have Mandalorians who are sensitive to the Force, whether they are open about it or if they hide it from those who would not accept it.
Here Dral took a breath and paused, remembering his clan's ten year baslan shev'la in the wake of the start of the Force Crusade.
I believe that reviving the Mandalorian Knights, by drawing on the Force users within the Mandalorian Aliite, and placing them alongside the others in the Mandalorian Defense Corps, would both strengthen the Mandalorian people laterally, through our combined support of our fighting forces, and outwardly, by providing us with a particular unit which we have not made use of, officially anyway, for thousands of years.
Dral concludes his declaration of support and subsequent additional proposal, and re-seats himself.

Kaalin began to read the datapad layed out in front of him as Galaar gave his speech. The Mandalorian Defense Corps, a military organization dedicated to serving the people. Kaalin smirked slightly after reading this, his hopes were coming true. Aliit'alor Fett finished his proposal and Aliit'alor Marev stood up in his place. Another interesting proposition was brought forward, and Kaalin wasn't sure how the others would feel about it. The Mandalorians of the past were taught to hate force users and that they had no place in the previous Empire. However, that was in the past. Kaalin was younger then most of the clan leaders here, but that didn't effect his thoughts on the matter. Force users should remain as Mandalorians, and they shouldn't be expelled out like they were in the past. Kaalin raised his glass towards Aliit'alor Marev, taking a gulp of ale in agreement of his proposal. He allowed a brief moment for everyone to settle themselves before standing up from his seat. He placed his glass of ale down on the table, and brought his hands back up with his datapad.
"If I must say Aliit'alor Marev, I completely stand with you on this proposal. No longer should we dispel our brothers and sisters simply for inheriting a gift that they never asked for. We shall treat them as we've treated everyone else. As Mandalorians."
He paused for a slight moment, allowing for everyone to say what they needed before dying down again.
"With that said, as Aliit'alor Karr I'd also like to add something to this discussion. Since the dissolving of our previous Empire, my people have been rebuilding in the outer reaches of Keldabe. Instead of letting them go loose without a purpose, I decided to focus their efforts on something more important. In honor of Jaster Mereel, my brothers and sisters have transformed themselves into cunning warriors, capable of things unimaginable by the average soldier. They are Ori'ramikad. Following the supercommando codex until their dying breath, my warriors have designated themselves as Mandalore's Vu'traat. The nature of war is not simply black and white, but a spectrum of things we must take into consideration."
Kaalin paused for a brief moment and began keying into his datapad. In a matter of seconds, a holo projection became available to all the clan leaders attending; showing members of Clan Karr conducting CQB drills with extreme precision.
"The capabilities of my warriors are endless. Direct action, special reconnaissance, unconventional warfare....the list goes on. With the formation of the Mandalorian Defense Corps, the need for special warriors has become increasingly important. I've dedicated my life to this community, and I intend to continue this way of life until my dying breath."
Kaalin took another pause, giving himself a moment to collect his thoughts. "With this formation of our clans, I will be dedicating my focus towards this en-devour. Should any other Aliit'alor's choose to pursue this way of life, they should send their finest warriors to my training facility here on Mandalore. In the mean time my clan will be offering their services out as mercenaries, in accordance to the Supercommando Codex. When the time comes ner'vod, we shall be the tip of the spear ready to strike at those who dare threaten us."
After a lengthy speech, Kaalin nodded towards the rest of the clan leaders and descended back into his seat, eager to hear what the others had to say.

=Mando Government Functions== <<108PP; O7 Sector, Mandalore, Keldade, MandalMotors Hall>>
There was a quick flurry of messages back & forth between Aya & the representative for Or'dinii. This was, after all a rather unusual case & it would require the functional support of the Alor, not just a high ranking official speaking in her name. At least within the clan itself. Fortunately, they were both in agreement as to what the clan itself should do.
The droid 21-35-28 had been a long time fixture in the Hall as the usual representative for Or'dinii. It was known that many clans had issue with Mechs, but given their population numbers within the clan, it was only reasonable that one would be chosen as one of the three on call representatives.
- 21-35-28 The MDC has the full support of Clan Or'dinii. An audit will be held. Once that is complete, a budget of warships, weapons, equipment & prefabricated garrisons will be forwarded to the MDC command staff for review & choice.
While it seemed a small enough statement, the unstated implication was that a huge number of warships & other military gear would soon be making its way from the unknown reaches to be redeployed in defense of all mandalorians. As was his logical way, he turned to the next point that had been raised.
- 21-25-28 The Iron Guard of clan Or'dinii has long wielded this weapon in defense of our clan. As it seems the tides are finally shifting against the bias against these vode in the broader Assembly, Clan Or'dinii will be pleased to lend personnel, resources & assistance with training to the Mandalorian Knights in their time of need.
At this point, Aya stepped in. While she had approved the previous grants, she still had to raise questions that would be important in many ways.
-Aya Alor Fett, while your motion is a reasonable & welcome one, I must ask how command of this military force will be handled. Will you personally be in charge of it? Will it be a board of various members? Who has the right to call for aid from this group? How will those requests be handled? There have been many cases in our long history that one clan or another was seen as disrespectful, out of favor, or even dar'manda by the clans at large, despite no fault of their own. I point out our own newly rejoined Clan Marev as such one example. Who is to decide who is & isn't under the protection of the MDC?

Galaar wanted to give attention to Marev's proposal, but the questions presented by the Mand'alor herself were far more pressing matters. The Mandalorian turns to Aya, taking her questions into consideration. He could hear the murmurs of agreement from the other clan leaders, those who found them worthy to ask while others were on the fence. Fett would see to it that these questions were answered to the best of his ability to relieve their minds and assure them of his intentions.
I personally desire to lead this Corps, Mand'alor. To set the example as its first leader and to ensure that standard is set for future successors. The one who conceived the idea and made it into a reality is, arguably, the best candidate. However, if you feel that should be challenged, make it so! I will gladly meet it.
Fett then turns away to speak to the rest gathered.
But I will not lead it alone. The Mandalorian Defense Corps will have its sub-commanders that lead the branches of the organization. They, and a select others, will serve as my advisers, my councilors, and my critics. They will help me ensure that I make the best judgments for the MDC and that it always serves the cause of the Mandalorian people and her clans to the best of our ability. A good commander accepts praise, but an even greater one heeds to criticism and counsel to ensure that the right decisions are made.
Fett then turns back to Aya, addressing the rest of her questions.
Those who are truly Mandalorian have the right to call us. They have the right to be protected and safeguarded by the ranks of the Corps, no matter who they are. But those that are dar'manda... they must fend for themselves. They can only save themselves. If they are returned to the fold, then the Corps will defend them like the others. If clans seek to use the Corps for their own benefit, to pursue their individual goals, or any adversity, then the MDC will not help them either. The Assembly was created to unify the clans and the MDC will be a product of that unity. The MDC will always seek to work alongside the Assembly, the Mand'alor, and the clans.
As for the final question, Fett nods to the Mand'alor.
As for how that is decided, it will be between the leader of the MDC, and her sub-commanders of the Protectors, the Supercommandos, the Journeyman Protectors... and the Mandalorian Knights included. These decisions will then be brought to the Assembly for approval or disapproval as is the way we run things now.
Fett turns to Marev, hoping that the clan leader got the message to Galaar's desire to see the Knights integrated with the MDC.

Post by Damocles Ordo [RETIRED] on Jan 18, 2020 7:26:22 GMT -8
Damocles had hoped to maintain a more muted presence as he read over the proposal for the Defence Corps, which was intended to cover the Protectors, the Supercommandos, the Journeyman Protectors, and the proposed Mandalorian Knights. He removed his helmet and placed it down upon the seat as he stood up. His features perhaps a little bit more weathered than the last time he had been here Ner'vode, I had intended to remain a silent observer to today's gathering, however certain comments and proposals bare addressing... We are Mando'ade, but we are not perfect. Many that have worn the Helm have not always had the best interests of our people as a whole at heart... It is for that reason, that when reunited the clans once more, I gave power back to the aliit'alors. In hopes of curbing and preventing another Ashrah... But we cannot ever account for every situation that may arise and have a perfect solution for it all... We can only work together and strive to be better than those of the past. As such, I wholeheartedly support Clan Marev's Mandalorian Knight proposal, the same as I support Galaar's proposal of the Defence Corps. I trusted him to lead the Protectors, and I trust him to lead the MDC. Just as I trust the Assembly to continue ruling and working together in the best interests of the Mand'ade as a whole...

*Dral had indeed caught Aliit'alor Fett's inclusion of his proposal in his later listing of the branches of the MDC and Dral nodded to him in appreciation and acceptance when Fett looked Dral's way. Dral did not speak because another of the Aliit'alore was standing to address the assembly. He listened as Ordo made his comments and nodded along with the others of the assembly in agreement with his statements of support for the proposals.*

As the smallest and newest of the Clan Leaders, Sol sat by and watched the discussions going on. Making note of the various proposals that had been put forth and the discussions that were being held regarding them. The MDC sounded like a noble cause for the assembly to take up, giving them a proper and unified fighting force to call upon. But Sol took interest in the Mandalorian Knights. A group that combined the Mandalorian way of life with use of the Force. Something Sol had learned to do throughout his life so far. Though he knew there was still much he had yet to learn about both subjects

Aya nods at the response. It was a fairly well thought out, though there were still issues to be solved.
-Aya Aliit'alore, I leave this to you to decide. Barring any further questions, I'm calling for an immediate vote on the issue at hand. All in favor say Oya. All opposed say Nayc.

WIth that, the majority of the major clans had made their will known.
-Aya Very well. I am hereby officially announcing the creation of the MDC under the direction of Galaar Fett.
Aya gave it a short time to quiet back down. Like any meeting of mandalorians, it usually stayed just this side of an open riot. This was probably not helped by the fact the hall made a habit of circulating free booze during sessions like this.
-Aya I am now opening the floor to any other announcements, requests or statements. Following which, I will have an announcement of my own.

After giving the gathered group a few minutes to make announcements, few of which were of anything of importance, Aya prepared to drop her bomb shell.
-Aya Clan lords, I have held this position for a few years now. I have made great progress in sorting out the extensive backlog of small requests & general paperwork that seems to have attached itself to the office & set up an automated system that should aid those that follow me in this role. I have reached out to many of the clans with offers of technology, resources & other aid. Some have accepted these offers, many have not. I have reached the end of what I sought to do when I claimed the helm. There is more I could do, but it would require forcing others to submit to what I think is best for their clans. This is not our way.
For this, & other more personal reasons I shall not name now, I am stepping down from the position of Mand'alor. With my last act being calling for the nomination & voting on the next Mand'alor. While it has often been our tradition to duel for the helm, it is a tradition I would see broken. & anyone that seeks such an action shall have to face me personally, After which, we will resume with the voting.
The tone was fairly mild, but the implication was clear. No challenges based on violence would be accepted as legitimate during this particular meeting. Anyone that wanted the helm would have to gain the support of the other clan lords to claim it.

Damocles had sat and waited, allowing any others to bring matters to the floor until Aya rose from her seat and announced she was going to renounce the Helm. His gaze passed over the crowd, watching to see how the other aliit'alor would react to the news. The room seemed to grow quiet as the assembled Mandalorians were processing just what had occurred. Kad Ha'rangir had lead him back from his exile to lead Clan Ordo, and yet... Yet here he was now, sitting within the Halls and being presented with another opportunity to lead his people once more. He wondered if perhaps this was where his path was leading once more, to lead his people once more. Or if this was but another step in a much longer journey.
He rose from his seated position then. There was a lot that could be interpreted about what this could all mean. But there was one sure fire way to figure out if this was what he should be doing Ner'vode, I would toss my name out for consideration to take the Helm once more and continue the work I began those many moons ago... With his name out for consideration, Damocles retook his seat. Perhaps that would be the end of it, or perhaps it would spark others into action

Post by Tor-Illyas Kryze [RETIRED] on Apr 23, 2020 2:34:20 GMT -8
Kryze had remained silent during the whole assembly, he was just soaking in the different stances and opinions. He could now listen with detail what truly did Fett proposal comprise and what the clan Marev had to add about the Mandalorian Force users. As interesting as all this was, his heart jumped at the mention of a new Mandalore being elected among their ranks. And he waited a prudent time. No-one else positioned themselves to grab the mantle, like he had guessed. So, he stood.
"Ner'vode"
He clasps both hands behind his back.
"I am Tor-Ellyas Kryze, head of the Kryze clan and the Nite Owls. If you do not know my face or my exploits you know my clan and my crest"
His voice was clear and sharp, he stood straigh like a lance.
"It is time we face our situation. Thanks to our two past Mandalores, including Ordo -his feats be praised over the Galaxy- and our beloved leader of the Ordinii, we have rebuild our past strenght, united at last"
Tor inspects everyone present.
"But, we could grow stagnant, we could grow decadent... accomodating. And lose our ways. Our strenght. Our very unity, for it's known that when blades go dull disent is sown, strife is born and rivalries, grown"
He clears his throat to continue, making a dramatic pause.
"The Galaxy is changed. No longer we live like our parents did. Governments have changed, Empires were gone in heartbeat, the Republic was lost, the Corporate Sector is controlled by a devious warlord, there's a new Emperor in Coruscant and now Dac is ruled by Sithspawn"
He gestures now, with both hands.
"We cannot remain like this, else we become irrelevant, brothers and sisters. We will become a pawn for the Galactic powers, mere mercenaries and bounty hunters, reduced to a state of misery and, what's worse, iniquity"
He looks at this audience, one by one.
"We have to grab the helm of this ship of fate, we have to seize the current and head to the future prepared, sure-footed"
Tor makes another pause.
"We cannot remain as pirates, neither can we repeat the mistakes of the past. But, yet, something must be done, we must seize what is ours, reclaim our place in the Galaxy, stop being irrelevant, respected brethren"
Clasps again his hands behind his back.
"I can lead us into a different future, a new man for a new Galaxy. I respect Ordo as much as I did my mother and father, but I represent the new times, the tide that is growing!"
His voice rises in tone.
"By no means I'm an iconoclast, neither I diminish the good work of Mandalore, no, that is not my intention. Neither I believe Ordo would not be a good leader again, for he proved it"
Another dramatic pause.
"But, I am willing to assume the mantle of Mandalore and sculpt with you -for you- not only a new future, but a new present. United we stand, we grow, we conquer"
He clenches one fist.
"I swear this, elect me as Mandalore and our name shall be written on the stars forever. The future is here, clanleaders, embrace it with me!"
