::Pop in to the MandalMotors Hall in Keldabe or get your holo on. We need to talk. Alor Australis.:: OOC: Forgot to add in Damocles Ordo [RETIRED] , Orrick Awaud , Kaalin Karr , Erik Itera , Tor-Illyas Kryze [RETIRED] and Brayark Vizsla . Best not leave them out if they want in. The Legate, Galaar Fett, was on Mandalore for Defense Corps business as usual. He was a rather busy man since his new appointment by the Assembly. Thus forced him to split time between Mandalore and Concord Dawn, as well as, duties between the MDC and his own clan matters. When the message came from Alor Australis, there was a sort of grimace. Galaar wasn't exactly fond of this individual. Already, a Coalition diplomat had asked him what he knew of Australis, but didn't give much beyond being rogues and wild cards. The previous Mandalore, before Marev took over, had practically named Kaine dar'manda... but that was reversed, it seemed, by the reigning leader of the Assembly. A fresh start for a new leader. Marev knew what he was doing though, he wasn't one to be doubted about.
Whatever his personal feelings, Galaar came nonetheless. A meeting among the clan leaders was one of a mandatory nature, no matter who requested it. He walks in with his silver beskar armor, with the emblem of Clan Fett upon right shoulder plate. His officers had been left outside, suspecting this would be a quick meeting before the Mandalorian could return to his usual work. Fett looks at Australis before taking his usual seat at the Assembly's table. His helmet removed and set upon the table. Galaar looks at Kaine.I thought your clan tended to keep to themselves, Kaine. Surprised that you requested a meeting of the Assembly.Past experiences made Galaar state as such.

Unlike previous gatherings of the Alor, Damocles had not been near enough to Mandalore to make a personal appearance. Instead, a holo-projection of Damocles appeared in the Halls. With his helmet removed, nothing covered the disdain with which he looked upon Kaine. The last time the pair had been in this chamber together, Kaine had been ranting about Damocles letting the Yuuzhan Vong leave peacefully and demanded a trial by combat. That day, Kaine had shirked the responsibility he so desperately seemed to want and destroyed a priceless artefact. For now, Damocles sat in silence, waiting for the other's to arrive or call in

Labrax Aurelius was on duty when the Australis Alor had entered & called for a meeting. The Rakata had no great love for the mando. The last time that particular mando had been in this hall, one of Aurelius' fellow emissaries had threatened to gut the hot head rogue. Hopefully, this meeting would go somewhat better. Though Aurelius fingered the knife at his belt. If it didn't, he could always make good the promise already made.

I thought your clan tended to keep to themselves, Kaine. Surprised that you requested a meeting of the Assembly. As the Fett entered, Kaine made his own way over to the table and found a seat. Showing respect, he removed his own buy'ce. Fett's point was well made, but there were good and proper reasons for requesting a meeting of the clan chieftains. As the man had said; Clan Australis tended to keep to themselves and mind their own business when it came to Mandalorian affairs. Yeah, we do. Figured if we're doing things that might affect the other Clans we owed an explanation before the fact, out of respect.Kaine saw the holo of the Ordo arrive, and had noted a Rakatan, good indication of Aliit D'Ordinii's presence. Shabla Damocles looked as happy as usual, which amused Kaine. He couldn't read Rakatan faces worth a damn, so he didn't try, the fingering of the knife when the beady eyed alien looked at Kaine told him enough. That was fine and good, and fair enough too, he hadn't always shown the other Clans the respect he was attempting to today.
Still some others to arrive, and he wasn't going to repeat himself. Kaine Australis was no politician, preferring shooting to talking in most instances, but as an older man, a grandfather, and a Field Marshal, he wasn't the man he had been in his younger days. Hotheaded still, to be sure, but tempered by experience. The greatest teacher failure was, as someone had said, probably a Mando'ad, though Kaine couldn't recall who, and he'd been taught well. War is coming. I'm here because I don't want to see Mando fighting Mando in the wars to come. That would do for openers, and no one could really argue with the sentiment. That was key to speaking with vode, even the ones that didn't like you; you had to speak sense. Lying or trying to manipulate them would just piss them off unnecessarily. Damocles scoffed as Kaine spoke of wanting to let the other Clan's know what Australis was doing out of respect. There were still others to arrive, including Mand'alor himself, but Damocles did not need the rest of them here to say what was on his mind The grass is green and the sky is blue Kaine, we can all state the obvious. War is always coming or already here, and we profit off it what ever side we choose. But it's so nice of you to be so concerned for Mando'ade fighting each other, when you're not one yourself... only those not considered dar'manda are worthy of the title of alor, so it is odd you assume such a title and yet talk of showing respect... Damocles was thankful he had reason to call into this meeting, though even if he'd been able to appear in person, he would have opted against it. At the very least, Labrax at least seemed to share Damocles' sentiments towards Kaine, based on the placement of the Rakatan's hand close to his knife. Perhaps this meeting may yet improve

War is coming. I'm here because I don't want to see Mando fighting Mando in the wars to come. Galaar's eyebrow went up slightly.A war is coming... and you don't want to see Mandalorians fighting each other? The Fett was sort of confused by these words. There were wars every where in the galaxy, both large and small. Mandalorians fought for whoever gave them the highest bid and performed their contracts to the letter. All for the glory of Mandalore and their clan. Bralor stood out among those who gained the most from the recent conflicts... to the point of envy from other clans.
Galaar looks at Australis after a contemplative silence. What exactly are you talking about, Kaine? Our life is competition! We are warriors and warriors seek glory and deeds through conflict. People would be underestimating us if they tried to fool us into fighting each other for the sake of their gain! There is nothing wrong with clans aiding two different sides of a war. For in the end, the whole of the clans will benefit from those who seek our services. The Legate keeps his focus on Kaine. But when you mean by war is coming, do you speak of a specific conflict brewing?

One of the many holo-emitters in the hall, a necessity for a culture of nomadic warriors, and a long unseen form sitting on a hand-carved veshok chair appeared among the rest. Brynden Skirata, son of Reyn, alor of aliit Skirata, and alor'ad of the Kagaht'Kranak sanctuary appeared, He looked much like his older brother Cuyan, save in his fairer coloring and much less heavily scarred visage. He wore armor of forest green, with a mantle of vornskr fur about his shoulders, flanking him was a huge mandallian likewise in green, his right-hand man Harper.
=Brynden Skirata= Kote bal gar, bal gar aliite, ner'vode. What is the meaning of this Australis? It is the middle of the shabla night on Lehon. Ashla will be very displeased.
Brynden smiled, he had always been the more personable of his siblings, save Athyna.

Kaine heard Damocles say some things from his hologram, and he gave the man the same respect and attention he would give to a particularly rancid fart. Whatever his opinion was, Kaine wasn't particularly interested in listening, so he focused his attention on the rest of the vode. He nodded to Brynden as his holo appeared, meeting the man's gaze. I said I don't want to see Mandos fighting Mandos. I'm here to make an offer that should any aruetiise place good coin for Mando'ade to fight Mando'ade, I will better the offer. Fight with us and get paid, or stay home and get paid for it. Whether Mando'ade choose to accept or not is up to them, but the offer is there.Kaine met Galaar's eyes. No, there's nothing wrong with Mando fighting Mando, I just prefer not to kill Mando'ade if it can be avoided. As for the rest, well, Kaine was limited in what he could share, lest word reach unfriendly ears of the future plans of his own Clan and their allies and associates, but he could at least warn his own people.War is always coming, ner vod. I speak of my own Clan and our allies. Sooner or later, we'll be fighting aruetiise. I'd prefer the vode to join us or stay home, and i'll put credits up to show that i'm serious.Kaine pulled out a flask of tihaar, and took a sip, all the talking was making him thirsty. The burn and sear of the liquid took the edge off, and he relaxed a little. Mandos can make their own decisions, i'm just here to make the offer. If war comes, and I see a vod on the wrong side, they'll get the glorious death they deserve, I just won't enjoy it. He couldn't see how anything he'd said could be argued with by any sensible and logical being. Galaar Vhett Damocles Ordo [RETIRED] Reyn Skirata

It was no surprise that Kaine chose to ignore his comments. The man was also a stubborn shabla and didn't care for anyone's voice or opinion but his own Ah yes, let us not forget Kaine the undefeatable... It seems as though you've already set yourself upon an unavoidable path of conflict with Mando'ade. After all, aruetiise are who hire Mando'ade... Is that why you've come here? to try warn the rest of us from taking legitimate work while you horde it all to yourself? Or are you afraid that another clan might best you in battle and ruin what ever lucrative business deal you have going? Must be pretty lucrative considering the reports of prototype ship designs near Concordia and the use of Myrkr...

Clan D'Ordinii was often thought of more as an economic power than a military one. Aurelius knew that was because the clan took the ideal that it was just another form of warfare. A form they were particularly gifted with. He stood up to respond to the Australis Mando.
-Aurelius You are a weak coward. Your plan would slowly bleed the clans dry of both reputation & funds. In the short term, things might look fine. Your clan would suffer some minor economic hits. But it would soon be known that other clans are unwilling to fight. Our prestige would drop. People would stop offering clans contracts for mercenary work. & your own clan would slowly need to pay out fewer & fewer of the bribes needed to keep the other clans docile. Any clan foolish enough to take your offer would only be agreeing to die slowly of a thousand cuts, all while watching your own clan become the dominate power.
He pauses a moment to take stock of the others gathered. His gauntlet creaked under the pressure of his grip on his knife.
-Aurelius You say you don't want to see mandos killing each other. But poverty & rot kills as surely as any blade. & your plan would soak your hands in the blood of countless mandos.

Galaar remained silent as others voiced their concerns and their counters. Damocles had every right to be as harsh as he was while the Ordinii representative understood economics better than most clans. 'I'd prefer the vode to join us or stay home'... those words rang within the Fett's ears as he kept his silence. After the others had spoken, the Legate took his opportunity to speak.
Either side with me or don't... Either be warriors with me or don't... your words of 'join you or stay home' are not charismatic, Kaine.
Galaar speaks to Kaine.
Aurelius makes a good point. Who's to say you won't use those you hire and ensure the prosperity of your clan over that of others? Who's to say those mercenaries don't do most of the work, or perhaps the minimal, while your warriors keep within a determined 'safe zone' of conflict? Too many questions and too little answers.
Fett pointed out as he taps the top of his helmet lightly.
Sure, a comment can be made that any employer has the means to do that. The aruetiise don't understand us so they make poor decisions. They cannot be blamed for their ignorance, but we may them pay for it. Always have, always will. But it would be worse if a fellow Mandalorian did so.
Galaar then turns to the rest.
The Assembly has given power to the clans to make their decisions and be their own masters. Yet remain united and strong under this confederation, the leadership of their alor, and their Mandalore. It was built on the ideal of prosperity and advancement for all clans and for all Mandalorians. All Mandalorians contribute, all fight, all cultivate, all do what is best for the greater good of every person and clan.
The Mandalorian then turns to Kaine and shakes his head. This was not acceptable to him one bit.
Fetts will be getting their own work on their own terms. We will earn our pay and loot by the way set down by Jaster Mereel. Our gains will be shared and utilized. As their alor, I cannot accept what you propose. Your comments may be viewed as a means to corner the market on deals and contracts... to force your kin to work through you or not at all. Your words are dangerous, Kaine.
Fett would certainly keep the Mandalorian Defense Corps out of these talks. They were the standing army and police of the Assembly, beyond each clan's personal militaries. The Corps serves the ambitions and desires of the Assembly to protect and serve, defend and expand, consolidate and advance. It was their duty to protect all Mandalorians and serve as the Assembly's means to police and make war if the alors, and the Mandalore, agreed.

Kaine still couldn't see how anything he'd said could be argued with by any sensible and logical being. He could also see that the Assembly Mandos were reacting to his plan as if they were aruetiise in Kaine's eyes. It was disappointing, but hardly unexpected. Still, he'd done what he came here to do, assuage his own conscience about the wars to come. If Mando fought Mando, it would not be because he had done nothing to prevent such an outcome.Hah. Kaine laughed without much humour, he certainly didn't feel humour right now. All these conflicting views, ner vode. The Assembly reminds me of the old Empire. Words are dangerous? I say, only a coward would believe that words are dangerous. He took another sip of his tihaar, then put the flask away.I've come here to make this offer, and it's made. You can discuss it among yourselves, and Mand'alor, and decide on the course for the Assembly and your own Clans. I would expect no less.Kaine stood up from his chair. I'm not here to convince you to accept. That's up to you. Run fast and shoot straight, vode. And he headed for the door, his task done, though his heart was a little heavy. Despite their apparent intransigence and wilful misunderstanding of his offer, Kaine still valued the lives of his vode. He had spoken truly, he'd take no pleasure in killing Mando'ad in an aruetiise's war.Galaar Vhett Damocles Ordo [RETIRED] Reyn Skirata House of D'Ordinii

Brynden cocked an eyebrow at the proposal from Kaine, and at the immediately hostile response from the others. He sighed heavily, remembering once again why his father had built Kagaht'Kranak in the first place. After Ordo spoke, Brynden offered his words. =Brynden Skirata= ::I appreciate your offer, Kaine, and I will relay it to my clansmen. As always, in matters of employment I trust my own warriors to decide which they would prefer. I will pass along your contact information as well. As always, when called to war in defense of our people by Mand'alor, Skirata shall ever be in the van, otherwise leave us out of politics. Jate'ca ner'vode. Skirata out.
Brynden's holoimage vanished.

Galaar watches as Kaine departs. He wasn't one to be accepting towards the proposal by Australis. The Mandalorian had been a serrated blade under the reign of Damocles and, often more than naught, a loose cannon, just as he described it to the Coalition diplomat. The proposal just didn't seem like something that would benefit the Assembly as a whole, at least in his eyes. Despite his personal feelings, Fett wouldn't let those get in the way of his decision. Listening to the words of the proposal, itself, was what caused the Fett to be rather against the offer.
The Mandalorian quietly taps the top of his helmet, contemplating deeply. No matter how it was looked it, there was that gut feeling that this wouldn't be of major help to the overall goals and ambitions of the Assembly. True, each clan could seek their own agendas, but there was still a necessity of unity to keep the Mandalorian people strong and the clans from fighting each other in senseless and bloody feuds. Competition was healthy, feuds weren't.
After a long silence, Galaar turns to the Mandalore, Dral MarevMandalore, your thoughts on the proposal by Alor Australis?

After a long silence, Galaar turns to the Mandalore, Dral Marev Mandalore, your thoughts on the proposal by Alor Australis? Dral had stood silently in the shadows of the room . He was aware of the reputation Kaine had garnered over the years, but having had little to no contact with the man, he wished to judge him based solely on his conduct and words during the meeting he had called in order to make up his own mind. What he had heard Kaine say made it clear this was a matter for the clans and their Alore to decide, not for the Mand'alor to dictate, so he had kept to himself and listened to the other Alore voice their opinions, both of Kaine and his proposal. Hearing Galaar call on him to voice his thoughts roused him from his musings. Moving into the light to stand next to the Legate, Dral removed his buy'ce and placed it on the table. We can quibble about his motives, as well as his intent, but the fact remains that he gave us forewarning of actions that will be performed by his clan which may impact other Mando'ade. According to the reports I've been given of his past conduct,, this at least seems like an honorable thing for him to have done. He could just as easily have gone ahead with his plans and not informed us of potential conflicts. His proposal won't work for those wishing to do headhunting during the conflict he implied, but those who are offered contracts just for their services can either let Kaine outbid them, or can use Kaine's offer to demand a higher fee from the potential employer. The other Alore have already made the point that as Mando'ade, we pick who we choose to fight for based on who pays the right price. So then each Aliit can do with Kaine's proposal as they see fit, either ignore it, accept it, or attempt to manipulate and exploit it. He said he would even pay for us to stay home. As Mand'alor, I have no ruling other than that. As Aliit'alor Marev, I will inform my troops. SOPs in my clan state that when we encounter other Mando'ade on the field of battle, we treat them with the respect that their prowess deserves and afterwards make every attempt to return the fallen Vode Bes'kar'gam and remains if possible to their clan. At least in this instance, we will have a place to start looking.

Another holo appeared in the room, a shirtless sweaty Kaalin appeared in view. He appeared with a smirk on his face, eager to hear what was being discussed amongst the other clan leaders. His excitement was quickly smothered by the realization of Kaine Australis' appearence. "Dar'manda..." He muttered under his breath, his arms now folded in front of his chest. He hadn't much experience with the man personally, but being declared Dar'manda was not something to be hidden from Mando'ad. His sudden call for the clans was surely a curious move and Kaalin was intrigued to hear the reasoning. After several minutes had passed, Kaine finished his declaration and departed the hall. Kaalin was astonished. How can a man with his reputation come into the hall and speak with such a devilish tone. His decision to do so made him worthy of Dar'manda indeed. Kaalin was unsettled by the whole thing, his thoughts racing for answers for which he didn't have. Kaine's motives weren't clear, at least Kaalin didn't think so. He kept quiet for the moment, watching as Manda'lor stepped forward from the shadows. We can quibble about his motives, as well as his intent, but the fact remains that he gave us forewarning of actions that will be performed by his clan which may impact other Mando'ade. According to the reports I've been given of his past conduct,, this at least seems like an honorable thing for him to have done. At least in this instance, we will have a place to start looking. The Manda'lor was right, and Kaalin couldn't help but agree. Despite Kaine's past, the fact that he came to the clans with a warning was admirable. No one wanted to see Mando'ade blood spilled, especially from ner vod. Kaalin keyed his intercom channel, enabling him to speak with the other Aliit'alor. "Manda'lor is correct. It is up to the other Aliit'alor to decide on what they wish to do. Whatever contract you take, know that there is always a risk. What Kaine has done is given everyone a warning, and to pick your contracts wisely. If you decided to pick a fight with Mando'ade on the other side, be prepared to continue your duty by following the Codex with honor and dignity. If you think differently, I suggest you pick up farming with the rest of the civilian populace." Kaalin paused for a moment, his arms now braced against the console in front of him. His intentions weren't intended to anger the other clan leaders, but to remind them of their culture. Forgetting their culture was to live without a soul, and Kaalin thought it important to remind everyone of that, even if they disagreed with his comments.

These words again...The good Alor Karr seems to have forgotten what Fett means in Mando'a, as another prior. A surname, a Mandalorian word, that means farmer. The Legate states, giving his Mandalorian kin a good look.Jango Fett started off as a farmer among the many fields of Concord Dawn, yet rose to became a feared bounty hunter. Many of my clans capable and strong warriors came from the humble fields of farming life and plan to retire, when their time comes, to those very same estates. These words were starting to get on his nerves. First Kryze's brazen words and now Karr.My clan, who rank among the greatest in our history, are filled with kin who work the fields and reap the crops on Concord Dawn. And yet, we continue to be among the most reputable of warriors and the most skilled of commanders. Being a farmer does not make you less than anyone else... and it seems there are those who forget that. To state as such is an insult to the Fett clan. The Mandalorian taps his finger once upon his helmet. It is better to say that if you think otherwise, then follow the ways of Arasuum, the Sloth. Do you not agree?Galaar keeps his eyes leveled with Karr for a moment longer before turning away to look at their Mandalore.Dral Marev , I will notify members of my clan and those of Concord Dawn of Kaine's offer nonetheless. I will not bar individuals from seeking work with what he offers. As for being Legate, in terms of the Mandalorian Defense Corps, they will keep out of this business. Their agenda must be to always follow the will of the Assembly and the Mandalore for the greater good of all clans and Mandalorians.

Damocles would be lying if he said he had not felt a sense of relief as Kaine took his leave of the Hall. The "Aliit'alor of Australis" was a mark against everything the Mandalorian Assembly stood for. His attention was soon turned toward the current Mand'alor. Dral handled the situation as was to be expected, by reminding the Cleans that it was up to them, he was not going to call them to war. But it was Kaalin's comments that drew his attention quickly after I have to concur with Galaar. It is odd how often of late our vode have thrown around the term farmer as a term of insult or belittlement. Much like aliit Fett, aliit Ordo are also primarily farmers. It is an honourable profession, the same as fighting. After all, when the fighting is done we come home and tend to our fields as generations before us have done. Kad blesses those that work hard and do not give into the deceit of Arasuum.... I also agree that taking any contract will always mean the risk of facing vode on the field of battle. We just know it's more of a possibility now. As we have agreed this is a matter for each aliit to decide, I will take my leave nervod... Damocles gave a bow in his holographic form, before the connection was closed and he disappeared from the Hall
