A smile fell over her face as Gavin spoke. He would be proud for her to take Tyra's name. So from here on, she would be known as Anya Syen. Her smile grew as she said this in her mind. It had such a nice ring to it. Slowly, the falling pieces of her empty life were dropping into place before her, creating for her a new path to follow. She looked to the bangle Gavin had put back in her hands. Now she had a possession of Tyra's, something that truly came from her. She held it up and ran a finger along its golden edge. It was so beautiful and she looked forward to making it apart of her when she gained a new crystal for it.
Watching as Gavin moved away from her, she noticed the statue he went to look at. Walking up beside him, she was amazed to see that it was one of him. It held the exact same appearance that he did now, which was odd to her. He said he was old, but to see that he hadn't aged since the statue was created confused her. What exactly was he besides a Kiffar? She pushed the thought from her mind. In time he would explain things to her about himself. Her attention then drifted to the large sword it held. It stood tall, reaching his shoulders. The blade tip rested in the ground while the hands rested entwined over a spike on the edge of the hilt. It was such a beautiful sword. She wanted to touch it, but decided against it. It was a weapon and as the armor held memories of battle, the sword would hold such as well. One experience was enough. But a single question now resided in her mind. Turning to look at him, she asked.
"This statue is one of you, is it not? Why is that?"

*Gavin let off a sigh as he turned to Anya. He figured he couldn't hide that much at the moment. Looking back at the statue, he began.*
"This was made the same time Tyra's was made. I survived the battle that day and the machines retreated. I knew better though than to think they'd stay away. So I went to the main base and destroyed it along with its leader. I returned to my brother here in secret. From that moment, I went into exile and I was assumed dead. I gave my brother that sword as a memento, something that could be shown that was mine. Shiento was its name and it was a powerful blade, one I prized."

Her gaze shifted from him to the statue. It was built as a memorial as it had been for Tyra, a means of remembering those who died in battle, plagues most likely for many, statues for those who held a position of great power and respect within the academy. But Gavin wasn't dead for the dead didn't stand and speak as Gavin was now. But he did explain why it was made for him. After the battle here on Kiffu, he alone assaulted the machine's main base to assure they would never return. And then he returned here in secret. But why? Why go into exile and let the galaxy believe him to be dead?
She turned her head, allowing Gavin to only just come into view. As he stood there, something seem to radiate from him. Whatever it was, she couldn't explain it. She had no knowledge of how to use the Force or feel the sensations that flowed through it, but there was something different about him. Even the way he stood, the way his eyes looked at everything when not at her. With greater understanding she learned to watch her surroundings. Before, she never tried, only kept herself caught up in her loneliness. Now was different; she was different. The biggest thing she could tell from Gavin at this moment was that he was a complete mystery.
She pushed the thought aside and set her gaze fully on him. She smiled as she walked up and took his hand with both of her's. He had told her that little bit about himself, about an event of his life. Perhaps he would open up as time went on. After all, they had only been together for a day. They still needed time to fully adjust to each other. With her smile she looked back to the statue.
"Well, I am glad you did not stay in exile."

*Gavin looked down to Anya with a smile and rubbed her head. He looked back to the statue for a moment before turning to leave.* "Well, if you're going to be trained, we need to grabbed some things."
*Leaving the Hall of Memories, he made his way down the halls, turning a couple times until he came to a large room. Moving to a few lockers, he forced one open and pulled out a few lightsabers. He clipped two to his belt and put two more in his holsters on his legs. He looked at Anya and gave one to her.* "These are training sabers. Until you learn how to use one properly and are capable of building your own lightsaber, we'll use these."

Anya was quick to fall in step with Gavin as they left, her eyes taking a quick glance at the statues one last time. As they made their way down the halls, her mind began to wonder what things they needed. She had heard stories of the Jedi and other Force users, but she was unsure how one went about being trained. So in this, all she could do was wait and see.
In the midst of her thoughts of the items they'd need, she worked to place the bangle around her wrist. She chose to bear it around her right wrist as she was right handed for one and it felt right on that side secondly. Once it was in place, she held her arm out to admire it. It was quite beautiful and it was surprising that it still held its shine after so long. Sure it hadn't received any dust from being under glass, but without a cleaning and shining put to it, it would be expected to dull over time. Nevertheless, she figured it could still use a bit of cleaning. Her hand ran over the large cracked emerald that lay in the center as she wondered what gem she'd place there in time.
Finally, they entered the large room. It was quite vast and appeared to have seen its share of a beating. Markings covered the floor and the walls. Even a few broken droid parts littered the ground. Following the logic of the size of the room, its appearance and what lay upon the floor, she could only assume it was a training area of sorts. This was verified as Gavin moved to a locker and pulled out the training sabers. She watched him load up four of them before handing her one. She had heard of the Jedi's weapon before in their stories and she then began to ponder how her's would look when she was capable of creating her's. She moved the hilt around in her hands for a moment. Taking in all the aspects of its shape, she held it in front of her with the emitter pointing up. Finding the ignition switch, her thumb pressed it and a green blade sprung to life with a hiss, the light illuminating the room instantly. She moved it around, admiring the color and the affect that came from its movements, along with the thrum that accompanied it. Pushing the button again, she watched the blade disappear as quickly as it appeared. Looking up to Gavin, she wondered why he had taken so many.
"Why do you need so many training sabers?"

"Training with me means you'll learn many different styles of combat as well as how to fight them. Just making sure I have enough" *Reaching into the locker he pulled out two training staffs.* "Alright that should be all for now. Let's head back."
*He lead the way out of the training room and soon out f the ruined academy. Loading up into the speeder, they made their way back to the city. Deciding now was as good a time as any, he took them back to the hotel. making their way into the room, he set the equipment on the bed. and motioned for Anya to sit on the floor.* "We shall not waste any time getting to your training. As I said, you'll have to start from the beginning like most younglings. So the first lesson, and shall be until you come to understand it, is feeling the Force." *He took a seat in front of her and took a deep breath.* "The Force is all around us, in us. Reach out with your feelings, let go of what you know and let go of yourself. Feel the energy that's all around us. Until you can truly feel the Force, the way it moves and flows through all things, you cannot progress."

She looked to her training saber again as Gavin made mention of the training of combat. Would she be ready for it? How hard would it be? So many questions that held no answers for her. The only way to know was to try. She only hoped she'd be able to live up to it and make him proud of her. Her gaze shifted to the locker as Gavin pulled out the staffs. She was unsure of what to make of them. They were at least twice the length of the sabers he had pulled out already and it seemed the emitter came from both ends. Her head titled as she tried to understand the weapon without having to actually ask. But her mind came with nothing but a blank.
She gave a light nod as he began to walk out of the training area, stating they had what they needed for now. A new line of questioning came to her mind as those words played out in her head. What else would they need? What else was there to learn and experience? Again, questions without answers. All she could do was walk along in silence behind Gavin, each surging thought left in the whirlwind of her mind.
As they stepped out of the academy, she squinted, her eyes adjusting to the sunlight. She inhaled, taking in the clean fresh air of the wilderness to expel the musty air of the building. The sun was already beginning its decent in the horizon. While many hours still existed within the day, she figured most would be on their way home for the night; she assumed as much for them as well. Jumping into the speeder, she buckled herself in as they sped off. The whole trip was spent looking from the bangle to the saber, trying to grasp what lay ahead for her. No matter how much she tried, she was only left further in the dark.
After the hour ride, they arrived back in the city. Gavin returned the keys and lead them along the street back to the hotel. She kept in step with him, trying no to fall into the rushing current of pedestrians that walked by. As she figured, many where heading home, some even to the cantina. Making it to the hotel, they moved in until they reached their room. When Gavin told her to sit, she tilted her head for a moment. So they were meant to begin now? Setting the saber on the bed, she did as she was instructed. His words came clear as he followed suit. The Force was all around them, always flowing. If she was capable of using it, she should be able to feel it. But she had never understood how, her abilities reflected only through intense emotions. But this was where it started, to gain the control she needed. All she had to do was let go of herself and become apart of the world around her. This is what she gathered from his words, to separate herself from her own mind, her own knowledge, for it'd be only a hindrance in understanding something that logic couldn't explain.
"So exactly how do I do that? What do I need to do to become removed from myself and feel the Force around me?"

"Close your eyes. Meditation is the best option. Steady your breathing, let your mind and body find peace. Relax and let go. This can be difficult at first, mostly due to getting used to staying still and calm. Doing that for long periods of time, especially for someone who's active can take its toll. So remember, take it easy and slowly. I know you want to learn quickly, to be like Tyra, but you must work at your pace. If you ever happen to find calming yourself is hard, think of something that can ease your mind and do so before meditating."

As he instructed, she closed her eyes. Doing nothing and being still was something she was used to. While it bothered her then, it was due to emotions than simply being still. She took in a deep breath, slowly letting it exhale as she relaxed, her body becoming calm. It was actually nice to just find a place to be peaceful. Now was the first time she could truly let herself go. As her breathing began to steady, she started to clear her mind of questions, letting go of all she knew and felt.
It was far from an easy task. Living with a certain understanding, seeing things a certain way, they started to harden in the mind as reality. So many new opportunities and abilities lay in wait, all which defied logic. Deeper and deeper she let herself slip, falling passed her doubts, her fears, her curiosity until there was nothing but the emptiness. Unlike the emptiness that usually eroded her heart, this emptiness was simply that, clear and free of chaos, open to anything.
Minutes ticked on, her mind feeling nothing but the emptiness. She was here, but it wasn't enough. She needed to reach out and so she did. She felt as if her spirit was pulling itself away, flowing out of her to entwine itself with its surroundings. With each passing moment, nothing came. But she refused to stop. She had felt the Force before, she knew it. When Gavin had come to the orphanage the day before, she had felt him, his presence in the Force. Of this she was certain and no emotion was involved. She was just there, letting herself just fade into the existence around her.
It was then she realized what it was, what was needed to reach out. Letting herself become part of her surroundings, letting herself fade into it, she felt herself get pulled along by an invisible energy. At first, she couldn't feel anything, merely knew she was being pulled along. But slowly, she could feel the flow, the way it moved around her, through her. Her eyes opened suddenly with a gasp. How could she have never truly felt it until now? It was still weak in her mind, but she could sense it, feel it flowing through everything, in all things. She couldn't help but smile as she let herself dwell upon the feeling, taking in the life that surged through it.
"I...I can feel it." Her words came softly, still lost within the sensation.

*Gavin nodded.* "Good. You catch on quite quickly. Alright,." *He set one of the training sabers on the floor in front of her.* "Continue to meditate and feel the Force. As you do, try to lift the saber off the ground."

Anya gave Gavin a small nod as her eyes closed once again. She was proud of what Gavin said, that she caught on quickly. She hoped that she could do so in all things he taught her. But was that wise? Despite being able to understand and adapt quickly, was it the right approach to move along that fast? If she couldn't help how fast she could adapt, it shouldn't be a problem. No, it wasn't the ability to catch on that mattered, but the focus applied afterwards. She wouldn't become full of herself, thinking she could master things quickly. She would continue to practice and train until she was certain she had full control and mastery. Only then could her power be certain. Patience would always be the key.
She continued to let herself reach out into the flow of the Force. She could feel it, surrounding everything. But how would she use it to lift the saber? Gavin didn't explain it, but should she rely on Gavin to explain everything? She needed to figure things out on her own sometimes. That would be what was necessary to grow. As she let herself flow into the Force, she began to feel the things it surrounded, the solid objects that blocked the current. But within living things, the current flowed through them, each person having their own current as well. Letting the thoughts formulate in her mind, she took a chance. She focused upon her own energy letting it flow out of her towards the saber. It was slow, minutes passing on. Finally, her energy reached the saber, wrapping around it as if she was gripping it in her hand. With the Force wrapped completely around it, she beckoned it to rise. So it did, the saber levitating off the ground to rise and float in the air between them.
Her eyes opened slowly so as not to break her focus. She wanted to see it for herself, to know that she really did it. And there it was, right at the height of her eyes. She gave a soft smile to Gavin though she said nothing.

Taking a deep breath, she directed her focus upon the saber. She kept her eyes open, though her head tilted forward a tiny bit. She felt the energy around the saber, now it was time to move it other directions. Applying the same method she had to lift it, she pushed the energy from her, like a gentle river flowing from her. She imagined it pressing up against the saber like a wall, then moving forward to push it along. Slowly and steady the saber moved through the air. Her brow tensed as it moved until it reached Gavin. At that moment, she took grip of the saber again, bringing it to a halt. The task was much more difficult than she'd imagine. Sure, it was simply moving things around, but the focus she had to apply took its toll on her mind. Mentally, she was becoming exhausted.
Still, she didn't stop. With the grip on the saber, she drew in the Force, much like she'd pull on a rope. The saber then changed course and made its way back to her. She lifted her hand to it as it came, realizing that it came just a tad faster. She also noticed an ease in her mind. It was as if the movement of her hand helped direct the flow as well as her mind. It would be something she'd remember for future attempts. Finally, the saber rested itself in her hand and she released a heavy breath. Her mind let go of its focus and began to relax. A smile grew faintly across her face as her gaze fixed itself upon Gavin.
"I did it." She had become proud of herself, managing what she did in just an hour. But that was it for the day, as Gavin had said. Deciding to get a shower, she began to stand. Never making past her knees, she collapsed, her mind unable to continue as she passed into the realm of sleep.

Gavin reached out and caught Anya as she fell forward. She could only smile as he stood and put her to bed. He removed her footwear and tucked her in, kissing her head slightly before going to the other bed and soon falling asleep as well.

The night passed swiftly for Anya. The toll of using and feeling the Force for the first time had left her mentally exhausted, allowing for a peaceful sleep. When she woke, it came quickly. Sitting up she started to speak, ready to apologize to Gavin. Looking around, she saw that it was dark in the room and Gavin was asleep in the other bed. She let out a small sigh. Surely he was disappointed in her and her lack of stamina and mental capacity. Her gaze shifted to the window and notice the faintest of lights on the horizon. Dawn was approaching and she was once again up before it came. Closing her eyes, she said a prayer, a wish to be able to hold on and be stronger and more capable than she had been the day before. With the opening of her eyes, she watched the golden orb of the sun rise over the surface of Kiffu.
Gathering some clothes, she headed to the bathroom to begin her morning dealings. The shower was quick, as was the brushing of her teeth and hair. She wanted to get an early start; she wanted to show Gavin her commitment to her training by building a strong connection to the Force whenever she had the opportunity. Making her way from the bathroom, she saw Gavin still asleep. Happy that he had still not awoke, she sat down on her bed and closed her eyes.
Once again, she let go of herself and reached out to the world around her. The time it took was much shorter. Now that she knew what to do and knew what she was feeling for, it was a far easier task. She felt it flow through her, coursing like a river. She didn't feel she'd ever get over of it felt, how energizing and invigorating it was. It brought a smile to her lips as she reached farther, out of the room and into the streets. She could feel the life out there, the early bustle of people making their way to work. It was nothing less than amazing. With the Force, she could feel the presence of others and feel the life that surged through the universe.
Opening her eyes, she continued to let the Force run through her. Her focus had lessened slightly, finding it just as easy. Noticing her training saber on a table across the room, she reached out her hand, hoping to lift it. With the same method as before, she let the Force flow from her and wrap itself around the hilt. Her hand lifted slightly as the saber rose from the table and began to move towards her. She didn't bother to grip it; instead she worked with the saber, using the Force to move it around in all directions, learning how to use this technique with ease.

*Gavin woke an hour after Anya had. As his eyes opened, his sight was met with Anya going through the same training that they had last night. While many things always took time to develop, there was always the large gap that spanned the attempt of the first try and the second once it is understood how to do it. And he had already discovered that her understanding and ability to adapt and progress was great. It was still too early to tell, but perhaps she'd be even better than Tyra.
Sitting up from the bed, he watched as Anya kept the saber afloat but turned to looked at him with a smile. He smiled as well as he stood and headed to the bathroom. Stopping at the door, he looked back to her.* "Keep practicing. Once I'm done, we'll be heading into the city. We will be getting you some new clothes as well as getting your clan tattoos." *With that, he went in and began to shower. He took his time, enjoying the heat of it. It eased his tense muscles. Once he was done, he dressed and went out and sat on the bed as he put on his boots.*

When Gavin finally woke, she had come to find a sort of ease in using the Force to move the saber. She was sure it'd take a little more time to master it completely, but she was making good progress she felt. It floated around, the saber twisting in on itself as it moved up and down and back and forth in types of circles. She was beginning to like the ability, seeing how helpful and easy things could become.
When he sat up, she turned her head and gave him a soft smile. She didn't need the complete focus as she had earlier, though the saber stopped its movements. She was glad he was awake to find her practicing. It was what she hoped for and prayed it made him proud. When he smiled in return, joy filled her seeing that her hope was a truth. Though he didn't say anything, he didn't need to; a smile was all she needed to feel encouragement to continue.
When he finally spoke at the bathroom door, the joy she felt surged to a new level as excitement filled her as well. As he left, she gave a happy laugh as her excitement surged through the Force. This caused her saber to spin extremely fast in its patterns. With its sudden movement, she dropped her hands with a gasp. A final burst of energy released itself from her and sent the saber off towards the wall across the room. It wasn't a heavy push, letting it flop against the wall harmlessly and with barely a sound. Taking a moment to clear her mind, she reached out to the saber again as it lifted from the floor and back to her once again.
She couldn't help herself in her progression for as Gavin came out of the bathroom, she now held both hands up as if she was holding someone's body. The hilt was spinning just above one before moving to the other hand, then back again. When she noticed Gavin take a seat and begin putting on his boots, she gripped the saber in her hand and set it on the bed. Moving to the edge, she couldn't help but think about the night before. Dropping her head a slight bit, she spoke with a soft, sad voice.
"I..I am sorry about last night, for passing out and not being able to use the Force for long."

*Gavin looked at her before reaching over and rubbing her head.* "There is nothing to be sorry for. It was your first time learning how to feel the Force and use it. It is to be expected. You are doing very well. Don't ever think different." *Standing to his feet, he made his way to the door.* "Let's get going."
*Gavin lead Anya out of the hotel and down the street. First thing would be to get her clan tattoos. Finding a place who could do it, he entered with her behind him. Approaching the worker he spoke.* "This girl is wishing to receive her clan markings. She was orphaned before she could get them from her family."

Relief set in as Gavin spoke. It was a comfort, to say the least, knowing that this was expected and that she was, in fact, making great progress. With his words, she felt encouragement and a stronger desire to press forward. As Gavin made his way towards the door, Anya was quick to follow. After what he had said to her, part of her wanted to stay here and continue practicing and honing her connection to the Force. But with the errands that were to be done, she couldn't help but be excited.
Keeping right in step with Gavin, she shadowed him as they made their way down the street. So many things were going through her head again. Which would they do first? What kind of clothes would she want to get? Obviously, she'd want some clothes best for her training, though hopefully she'd get some nicer clothes just to walk around in. Her answer to which came first was soon answered as they entered a shop. There were no clothes, not even a sign of a fitting room. She did see some tools on the other side of the counter, most containing a needle. She huddled in behind Gavin, wondering what would happen.
As Gavin spoke, she stepped around behind him so the worker could see. He gave her a smile and led her to a seat and helped her get comfortable. Upon being asked what clan she was from and what the design was, she explained what it was from the name to the design. "It is the markings given to Tyra Syen. They are brown and look like small angles pointing down. They have a slight bend in the lines and are on each cheek starting just below the outer part of the eye." She held up her bracelet and showed the man the design in it, helping to give him a better idea of what they looked like. The man thought for a moment before before nodding. Leaning her back, he began to work.
He had told her that she might feel a little sting from it. At that moment, a twinge of fear set in, unsure of how to deal with it. But as he began to work, she felt a little bit of a sting, as he had said, but not as bad as she imagined. Still, she waited for it to pass, hoping it would be quick. After thirty minutes, the tattoos were in place. As she looked at herself in the mirror, she noticed her cheeks were a little red and a tiny bit sore. Otherwise, they had come out nicely and she was happy with the appearance. Hopping off the seat, she went over to Gavin and waited.

*Gavin thanked and paid the man before leaving the shop. Next was getting her some new clothes. He wanted her to get so clothes made just for her for training and such, but some average clothes would also be acquired. Continuing down the street once again, he found the clothing store that Anya had looked at before. Entering the store, they were welcomed by an attendant. Gavin nodded and motioned down to Anya.* "We'd like to get some clothes made for her as well as purchase a few styles on the racks."
