The sun was slowly beginning its decent towards the horizon, signifying another day was nearing its end. The city was finishing its daily happenings, people moving about, many in which were heading home to be with their families. All was well upon Kiffu, life going on as it did. The galaxy seemed to forget that the planet even existed, leaving it to continue on undisturbed.
But not everyone that lived here felt the peace that held its sway over the world. From a swing, one young girl watched as other children played, enjoying themselves as they were caught up in their games. She wanted so much to play, to be involved with the others though it never came to pass. She was the outcast, the one no one to be around. Many times she had heard them call her names like freak and weirdo. She could never understand why they felt that way about her. She looked and talked like them by what she could tell. She had a greater intelligence than most children her age, but she never held that over her, nor acted with such. All she wanted was to belong, to be apart of something more. But every time she approached them, they ran, pushed her away. Always keeping their distance, she had been left all alone.
She lifted her head as she heard laughing a little ways behind her. Turning, she watched as a boy a year younger than her walking through the open gates, holding the hand of his new parents. It was an orphanage that she lived in with these other kids, all those who didn't have families for one reason or another. With sad eyes she watched as he left, a smile clear on his face. She had been here since she was only a couple of months and now she had become ten but a few weeks ago. In all that time, not a single family had shown interest in her. From what she could see, they all saw what the other children did. They didn't express it the same, but she was always looked over. The feelings of not being wanted, by the other children, by the families that came always tugged at her heart. It felt like someone had gripped her heart and held a firm grip on it, squeezing occasionally, creating the hurt that she felt.
As they always did, silent tears fell from her jade-hued eyes, causing them to reflect the orange light of the setting sun. She didn't sob, only let the tears fall softly, quietly. She watched them fall on her pale blue gown-like dress, letting the droplets begin to soak through it. She was glad, though, for her hair. It fell around her face, covering her in a long dark brown curtain. This was what always happened, even day for the past five years. She never understood what happened. One day she got upset with one of the other girls; its was but a childish anger over childish things. Something like that should have been forgotten about easily enough. But it had not been the case. Instead, they started to dislike her, and before long, she had become the outcast she was now. All she wished in this life was for someone to be there so that she wouldn't feel so alone.

Time went on, slowly passing by as she sat there away from the other kids. Time had become lost to her mind as she looked at the ground, lost in thought. She didn't notice the others head inside or the sun already descending behind the horizon, casting a darkened orange hue across the clear sky. The ground had grown darker, but it didn't register that it had become as late as it had. It wasn't until she felt a hand rest on her shoulder, accompanied by a soft voice that she snapped out of her daze. She looked back suddenly, surprise lit up across her face. A moment passed before it faded as she realized who stood there. It was Ansha Sorn, one of the workers in the orphanage. Of all the people, it was only Ansha that she really ever talked to at this point. This woman was the only one who seemed to try and understand what she was going through. Ansha smiled a soft smile, speaking again.
=Ansha=
"Come along, Anya. It's late and time for you to get to bed."
Anya looked back to the sky, finally seeing the dark orange sky. She had really lost herself to her thoughts, not noticing how long it had been. Nodding, she stood and let Ansha take her hand and lead her inside. As they walked, Anya kept her gaze to the slowly darkening sky and saw that some of the stars had begun to come out. Only thoughts of wonder carried her mind along now, imagination the only thing that could tell her of what lay beyond them on other worlds. Perhaps one day, she herself would get the chance to see them, to see how different things were from her own home.
With the late hour, the orphanage was busy, children moving about tending to showers, their teeth, all preparing for bed. Ansha led Anya to the room she stayed in. It was empty at the moment as the few others that resided here were already preparing elsewhere for the night of dreams that awaited them. Anya walked over to her bed, which rested by the window, allowing her a clear view of the city and sky. She grabbed a white sleeping gown from a trunk at the foot of her bed. She stood there for a moment, her mind distant from her body. Once again, it was Ansha's voice that broke her out of her daze.
=Ansha=
"Are you okay, Anya? Do you want me to help you?"
Anya shook her head and watched as Ansha smiled and left her. She took a deep breath, one of sadness and a touch of emptiness. The air filled her lungs and she held it there for a moment before letting it out slowly. Moving from her bed, she left the room in a slow walk, heading for the bathrooms. Many of the kids passed her as she walked, already finished and heading on to bed. She didn't look up to them, but she could feel them try to walk around her as far as they could. Whispers emanated from them, the names that she always heard on their lips. She fought back the tears that threatened to fall as her heart tightened once again.
She spent only a small amount of time showering and brushing her teeth. She was ready to fade away into the darkness of night. It was the only thing that she looked forward to now. It was there she was able to feel as if she was wanted. Finishing what she needed to do, she made her way back her room, her dress held her in her arms. The room was already cast in darkness, the only light was the faint glow of the city lights. The other children had already began working on passing into the dreamworld, a place that they all could feel as if they had a family. Reaching her own bed, she dropped her dress into the hamper and crawled under the covers. She covered herself up tightly and faced the wall. She didn't want to look at the others, she just wanted to sleep.
It took no time before her eyelids became heavy and she was out. The world in her dreams always started with darkness. She had been afraid, at first, fearing it was going to swallow her up. Now she knew it was only how it started and waited there. Soon, she heard the soft hum of a woman. Anya smiled as the image of a woman came into view. She stood there, her eyes closed and smile wide. Her arms were open, welcoming Anya into them; it was something she had waited for, embracing the woman. At least, here she had someone that truly cared, a voice that assured her everything would be alright and arms that held her in a warm loving embrace.

The next more came swiftly as the first rays of light began to shine over the horizon. Already the voices of the workers and other children had begun to fill the halls. It was as such every morning, workers raising the sleeping children only to be met by their stubbornness to wake. It was a place of rest and dreams, a realm many did not wish to leave. But in time, the children would rise with their fuss, preparing to carry on the day.
Anya had woken before the stars had faded from the sky. It was always the norm. She'd wake to see the stars a final time before fading away with the coming light. It was then that she'd gaze upon the rising sun, bringing forth the hope and promise of a new day. Each day meant the possibilities of granted dreams and happy moments. It was in those moments that Anya would close her eyes, wishing with all she had that things would be new for her, that she could find the same happiness in the waking world as she did in the dreaming one. But as each day progressed, her wishes were never answered. She tried and tried, every morning as the sun rose, each time to no avail. Her faith slowly began to wane, but she continued to try, always believing that if she held on, the gods would finally answer her in the sight of her determination and steadfast faith.
The golden orb had finally completely left the grip of the horizon when she slipped out of bed, a pair of deep blue pants and a rosy red shirt held in her hands. She progressed down the hall, a smile on her face. She always made her wish and entered the day with joy fueled by hope. She knew if she hadn't done this, hadn't felt this way for so long, she would have given up with an end she refused to see. She entered the bathroom and took an empty shower. Removing her sleeping gown, she let the warmth of the water wash the chill and feel of must from her being. She didn't take her time, though she didn't move quickly. There were rules about time in the showers and she felt to push close to the limit this day. As she knew her limit to be reached, she turned off the water's flow and dried herself with provided towels. Clean and dry, she dressed herself before leaving the shower and moving to the sinks. With her teeth brushed, she finished getting ready by putting her hair into a low pony tail.
It was then that she heard the whispers and looked behind her in the mirror. A group of girls were pointing her way and giggling with a tone of mockery and insult. When they noticed her gaze, one girl, a year older than Anya, stepped up. She was a beautiful girl, short red hair with grey eyes, standing a few inches taller than Anya. Anya turned to her, but couldn't keep her smile any longer. She knew what they said for it was always the same. Another day had her hopes been ignored; her heart began to tighten as the girl spoke.
=Girl=
"Get out of here, freak. No body wants you around."
Anya looked at the girl, her eyes focusing on her. Her hands took shape into fists, their grip slowly tightening. She hated being called that. She wasn't a freak, just a normal girl like them. "I am not a freak. I am not." She tried to remain calm as she responded to her name caller. She wanted to yell, to scream, to jump at her and hit her. All she wanted was for the names to stop.
=Girl=
"Yes, you are. Just a freaky little weirdo."
Her heart continued to tighten as she felt something begin to flow through her. It tore at her, pulling down the bars of her restraints, begging to be set free. "I am not. Stop calling me that." The feeling kept building, now unable to be stopped. Her fists tightened so hard they hurt and began to pale. She closed her eyes as the feeling within her reached the surface. "Just stop it!"
It happened so quickly. The feeling that ran through her released itself at once, flowing from her body towards the girl. Anya looked up with angry eyes to see all the girls that were there had been pushed to the floor. She didn't understand what happened. She wasn't close enough to touch them, but the lay there as if she had run up to them and shoved each of them hard to the ground, just as she wanted. Her breath started to grow heavy, though she couldn't explain the reason behind it.
The girl who had called her names sat up, her eyes widening for a moment before pointing a finger at her, her eyes showing her dislike for Anya.
=Girl=
"Freak. You are a freak."
Anya felt the same feeling rising in her again, but she turned to the mirror. It was then that she understood. After all this time, wondering why she was made an outcast, why she was left alone, it finally made sense. Looking to her reflection, her eyes were no longer the ones she recognized. Shining orbs of jade had completely faded and were now replaced with eyes that resembled rubies. Outlining both the inside and the outer part of her iris were rings of yellow.
The feelings she had building up disappeared at the realization. Tears slowly began to form as the color begun to alter once again, the green of her eyes flooding over the its new shade. Unable to bear seeing it anymore, she took off out of the bathroom and out to the courtyard.

Anya fell to her knees, letting herself curl into a ball. She had gone as far as she could, reaching the fenced boundary of the orphanage. There were a few trees around, concealing her in shadow. Her sobs could be easily heard, even from a distance though she no longer held such a care. It was finally clear what the other children saw. She didn't know what it was, but there was something. She had felt it in her anger growing, surging through her. And now it was plain as day to her now.
"I really am a freak, They were right. They were..."
Her words became consumed in another wave of sobs as tears fell freely from her eyes. She couldn't stop them; she didn't want to. All that kept running through her mind was a single word: freak. It played, over and over again, the voices of the other children, of the workers, of the families that came. Their voices echoed in her mind, overlapping, filling her head until she felt it would explode. Unable to bear it a moment more, she screamed with all she had. All her sadness, her hurt, her anger poured out in that moment of expression.
Time warped and blurred. Was it seconds that passed? Perhaps minutes, hours? She didn't know; her mind lost to a blurred world on the other side of her eyes. Was she dead or asleep? Maybe she was still awake but her mind had become too broken to understand anymore. She didn't hear the footsteps, didn't see the shadow of another fall over her. All she could hear was the muffled echo of another's voice. Her head turned, slowly looking up. Her eyes had become red from tears, her cheeks raw from rubbing them away. She blinked, once, twice. Bit by bit, her vision began to return as she recognized Ansha knelt over her. Her hand rested on Anya, trying to calm her, comfort her.
With a sniff, she forced herself into a seated position. She looked to the ground, unable to look at the other women. Sadness still flowed through her, as well as hurt, even shame. She didn't know what she did to the other girls but knew the workers wouldn't take it well. She had been alone but still had this place as a home. She could only wonder what would happen now. She gave another sniff as she spoke, her voice hoarse from her scream. "What am I?"
Ansha did what she didn't expect. She sat down next to Anya and wrapped her arms around her in a caring embrace. Her hand stroked Anya's hair as Anya moved closer, falling deeper into the security that the embrace brought her.
=Ansha=
"You are you, Anya. You are different than the others, but you are you. Not a freak, not a weirdo, just you." Ansha pulled back from Anya and wiped the tears from her eyes. "Do not listen to the others. They simply do not understand the gift you have in you."
Anya looked up at Ansha with surprise in her eyes. How could this be considered a gift? She herself could not understand, from the events that had transpired, she didn't see how what she had was a gift. "I have a gift?"
Ansha nodded with a smile.
=Ansha=
"Yes, though I cannot tell you what it is for not even I understand what lies within you. But I do believe that one day, one will come that will understand you and be capable of revealing the truth of what rests inside you. Until then, you must be patient. And don't let what the others say get to you. Believe in who you are."
Anya gave a slow nod. She didn't know who she was, but if Ansha believed in her, believed that what she possessed was a gift, and that someone would come for her to help her, the she'd believe it too. The faintest of smiles grew on her face as Ansha stood to her feet, her hand extended to Anya. "How about we go inside and get you something to eat?" Anya's smile grew as she nodded, taking Ansha's hand and working her way to her feet. Hand in hand, they made their way inside, ready to tackle the day.

*Gavin flew on, following the call of the Force. As he went, he began to understand where he was heading. He could already see the city rising in the distance. It was the main city of Kiffu, the one that resided near his brother's academy. But there wasn't time to stop now, time to visit and searched what remained of the academy. He had to continue on. As he approached, he opened up the comms and requested for permission to land. It was no time before he was granted permission and he directed the ship towards the space port.
As he reached his destination,he brought the ship down into the landing area. As the ship's systems began their power down, he couldn't help but look out. He couldn't see anything at the moment, but outside the port lay the city. He couldn't remember the last time he had been here. It had to be forty years ago, maybe a little less. Rising from his seat, he made his way off the ship, leaving his weapons behind. Something told him he wouldn't need them. With a deep breath he pressed on into the city, seeking out what called to him.
It wasn't long before his path lead him inside the gates of a local orphanage. He was puzzled as to why he was brought here, though the idea should have seemed obvious. There must have been a children he was meant to see. As he looked around, he was approached by one of the workers. The man smiled and greeted him.*
=Man=
"Welcome. Are you looking to adopt a child today?"
*Gavin looked to the man, before taking another glance around* "To be honest, I'm not sure why I'm here. Perhaps I am."
*The man looked at Gavin with a confused look.*
=Man=
"It's odd that you would come to an orphanage, but not know if you came to adopt or not."
*Gavin merely titled his head in a small nod. He did not wish to explain the feeling as there were many who wouldn't understand. His eyes scanned the area, taking in all the children playing. He kept his focus up feeling the direction he was being called. It wasn't until his eyes feel upon a young girl on her own away from the groups that he felt the Force surge through him. His eyes focused hard on her. He wasn't sure if she simply turned because she wanted to or if she felt him looking at her, but she turned to look right at him. He couldn't help but let off the tiniest of gasps. She looked so much like her. It had to be her. Looking at the man, he motioned to the girl that sat alone.* "Tell me about her."
*The man look over his shoulder to the girl he mentioned who had already looked away.*
=Man=
"Anya? I must say you are the first to really show interest in her. Most people who come through usual avoid her."
*Gavin's yes focused in on the man.* "Tell me about her."
=Man=
"Alright, come with me."
*He motioned for Gavin to follow and they made their way inside.*

Despite the words Ansha had spoken earlier to her, the feelings Anya had could not be so easily dismissed. In truth, her heart had been lifted from the pits of loneliness, but even still, she was still different. The understanding of what lay within her was still a mystery, but looking to it as a gift, no matter how hard it was, did help keep her sadness at bay. If anything, it was a tiny glimmer of light in an otherwise darkened world. All she needed to do was to press on until that light erased the darkness.
As she watched the other children from her favorite spot, something fell over her. No words could explain the sensation, only that it was suddenly there. It wasn't like the feeling she had earlier, the surging energy building up within her but more like a splinter in her mind, poking at her awareness. She tried to think on the feeling, hoping to understand it and gain some insight to what it was. As her mind settled in on the sensation, she began to gain direction from it. Like a compass pointing her way, it came from behind. Turning her head, her eyes fell upon a man talking with one of the workers. What was more was that his eyes were already focused upon her.
It felt as if minutes passed before his gaze moved to the worker once again. Quickly, she looked away. It was clear that whatever the feeling was did not emanate from her, but that man. What confused her more was why he seemed focused on her. None else who came showed her much attention. Uncertain of what to think, she tried to push the thoughts from her mind and looked to the other children once again.

*Heading into the offices, the man offered Gavin a seat. Taking it, Gavin looked to the man.* "So tell me about Anya."
*Siting across from Gavin he looked at him with wondering eyes. He was the first to show her any attention. He couldn't understand why others passed her up. Shaking his head, he leaned back into his chair.*
=Man=
"As I said her name is Anya. She is ten years old and has been here pretty much here entire life. She was brought us when she was a few months old. The man who brought her here only told us her first name and left. So as for the life she had, it's always been here. As for where she came from, it took us awhile, but with some of her blood we had from checking her over to make sure she was healthy, we believe that we have figured out who her parents were. Her father was an off-worlder by the name of Deveron Namina. Her mother was a Kiffar, Mika of clan Konshi. We never told her though, not sure if it was right or not."
*Gavin's head shot up a bit as the man mentioned her parents.* "Deveron and Mika? What happened to them?"
*The man tilted his head.* "Her mother did a couple months after child birth. She went through some complications. She survived, but she never was able to regain her strength. She held on just enough to help nurse Anya by what we figure. Her father died not long after Anya arrived. Medics say that is was grief that killed him. It truly is a sad way to go. If you don't mind me asking, did you know them."
*Gavin shook his head.* "I didn't know them personally, but I knew of them and have seen them. What else can you tell me about Anya?"
=Man=
"She is mostly alone. Ever since she was five, the other children have treated her as an outcast. We haven't really been able to tell why, though there was an incident this morning. Supposedly she pushed a few girls down at the same time without touching them. By the way it sounds, she has a strong connection to the Force. The children, however, I don't think really understood that."
*Gavin nodded and sat forward.* "Well, I would like to adopt her."
*The man nodded as he stood to his feet and began to gather the needed documents.* "From the way it sounds, I take it you may know something about her."
"I do, actually. And I plan to make sure she has a bright future."
*Sitting down, the man handed him the documents to sign.* "That's good. She's a really good kid. She deserves something. Most families just pass her by. Just sign the documents."
"I think I understand." *Minuted passed as Gavin signed the documents.* "Is that all?"
*The man nodded.* "Yes. I'll take you to her."
*Gavin stood to his feet and shook his head.* "If you don't mind, I'd like to see her alone first."
*Leaving the man, Gavin made his way outside and saw her where she was before. A small smile came to his face. So it was as he thought. Standing beside her, he looked to her, then the children she was staring at.*
"Why don't you play with the others?"

Trying hard to push the thoughts of the man aside, Anya focused heavily on the other children. But as she thought on them, the loneliness began to arise once again. The surging feeling began to form deep inside, threatening to break through the surface. Turning her attention to the ground, she forced all thoughts from her mind, though the feeling didn't subside. She couldn't stop hearing the words, seeing the stares as the feeling surged greatly within her. Just as it was about to break free, a voice shattered the building energy as if it were simply made of glass. The voice was not one she knew, so she quickly turned, only to see the man standing beside her.
Her eyes were hard as they held their ruby red hue. She gave the slightest of gasps, her eyes quickly turning green once again. It was then that she could feel the same feeling from before. Of all the things about him, it was the sensation he gave off that she noticed above all. Her eyes directed their way towards the others again, but not before taking in his appearance. Shaggy, sandy blonde hair that seemed to reflect the sun and flow easily in the soft wind only enhanced the focused ice blues eyes. The features of his face were hard, such as they would be from one who had experienced many things in a lifetime. She took an empty breath as she thoughts upon the question he asked of her.
"The other children do not like me. They think I am a freak, something that should not be."
Her eyes began to glisten as tears threatened to flow. No matter what words she told herself, no matter the belief Ansha had in her, her heart was not convinced that she had a gift. All she wanted was friends so that she wouldn't be alone. If she could've given up what she possessed, she would have long ago. Nothing was worth the emptiness.

*As he looked down to her, her eyes struck him. It wasn't odd or creepy, but very familiar. Aside from the hair and the simple fact her eyes didn't remain their reddish color she completely looked like Tyra. It amazed him so much. But he pushed the thought aside for now. Instead he looked to the other children as she spoke, her words sinking into his mind.*
"What makes them say that?"

Her hands tightened around the chains of the swing in which she sat. Never before had the reason been known until this very morning. As her eyes fell to the ground, her mind began to play the scene in her head. The girl calling her names, insulting her as if she wasn't anything worth living. The feeling that surged so strongly through her being, releasing itself from her. She could only believe that the released energy pushed the girls down, but she didn't understand what it was. And then there were the eyes, the eyes that she had but yet wasn't hers.
"Th..there is something in me, something that builds up when I get upset. It comes out if it becomes too much. And my eyes, they change as well."
Tears continued to try and form within her eyes as she forced them back. This man was giving her attention and didn't seemed bothered by her as other people had been. She didn't want to run him off with tears. She thought on Ansha's words earlier about what she had. Slowly, she head turned to look up at the man. Perhaps he was one who could understand her, help her see just what rested in her.
"Mrs. Ansha says that I have a gift, though I do not know if I believe her."

*Gavin gave her a smile as she asked if she had a gift. He couldn't blame her for thinking as she did or even what the other kids thought. Red or yellow eyes usually signified one's connection to the Dark-side. A child having it that had no understanding of it was unheard of, but Gavin knew the truth that lay with her.*
"Well, she is right. You do have a gift, provided you understand what it is. I can help with with that. I can teach all there is to know about your gift and more."

Her eyes widened slightly. He was smiling at her the way Ansha did. He wasn't like the others who came; he seemed to show a true interest in her. It was that small fact alone that made her heart soar. A smile began to grow, slow at first, then spread wide and bright in such a way that she couldn't remember ever doing. What was more was that he agreed with Ansha and her gift. Though she wanted to believe Ansha, she couldn't help but feel she was simply saying it to lift her spirits. But from Gavin, it felt genuine.
Her smile faded quickly and her face tilted as surprise took over. He wanted to show her what her gift was and what it meant. How would he do that? To do so meant he'd be a new helper with the children here or perhaps....no, he couldn't be here for that.
"You can help me? Are..are you a new helper here?"
She couldn't believe that he would adopt her; she refused to hope for such a thing. True, his words had made her much happier, and having said that he'd help her understand only seemed to erase the darkness that surrounded her. But she couldn't let that hope grow too brightly for fear of falling once again into the endless black.

*Gavin's smile turned to a light smirk as he shook his head. He turned and notice the man he had talked to earlier and another woman walk up next to them before turning back to Anya. He knelt down so he could look at her without her having to look up.*
"No, I don't work here. I'm adopting you, Anya."

It was in that moment her heart skipped a beat. The very words she had always dreamed to hear, the single most thing she had ever hoped to be spoken had. His words played over in her head like a gentle song, lifting her heart to heights she never thought possible. She didn't know anything about this man, but here he was, wanting to adopt her, and more so, seemed to understand what rested in her and desired to help her understand it as well. She didn't smile and her eyes began to stream tears as if one had turned a faucet on low and let it run freely. However, they were not tears of sadness as per the norm, but tears of happiness, of joy. In this very moment, she had never felt happier.
"I...I am, you want to adopt me?"
She could barely find the words and turned to gaze upon Ansha, who had joined with the other worker. She had to see it from them, to know that she wasn't dreaming and that this was real. Her face began to brighten in a smile as Ansha smiled her warm smile and nodded.
=Ansha=
"Yes, Anya. You've finally been adopted. Everything is in order. All that remains is for you to gather your things and go with him."
From her lips came a faint laugh. It was true, not a wonderful fairy tale her mind had played out for her. She could finally have someone there to care for her, to keep her from being alone. She was quickly removed from the swing and wrapped her arms around Gavin's neck in a firm embrace. Her wish, her hope had been seen, and on this day, had finally been answered.

*Gavin wrapped his arms around Anya. He couldn't explain the happiness he felt himself. He had lost much in his life, much sooner than he should have. So many times he felt he had failed in life, as a father, as a husband, even as a teacher. Once again, the Force was granting himself another chance. He wouldn't take this chance for granted, he wouldn't fail a another time.
Pulling back from Anya he smiled.* "Well, Anya. I'm Gavin Phoenix." *He ran his hand across her cheek as a father would.* "Whenever you're ready."

It took all that she possessed to restrain herself from bouncing around. She couldn't have asked for anything better. She looked at him with bright jade eyes; the shine from them was so bright she felt it could have been blinding. When his hand ran across her cheek, it felt so right, as if he truly was her father. When he had spoken, letting her know that now all that resting upon her leaving was simply if she was ready. She couldn't hold back her excitement as she nodded.
"Let me just get my things."
When she broke away, she first turned to Ansha and wrapped her arms around her and held her tightly. Ansha meant so much to her. Ever since she had become an outcast, Ansha had been there, always comforting, always guiding. Now it was time for her to move on. As the thought passed through her mind, she became sad. She would miss Ansha greatly. She may be gaining a family, but none could replace her. After a moment she pulled away and looked up at Ansha with sad, yet happy eyes.
"Thank you, Mrs. Ansha, for everything."
Ansha ran her hand through Anya's hair. She didn't speak, only nodded with a smile. Anya could see in her eyes tears were starting to form. It seemed that despite all the children still here, Anya leaving still made her sad. With a deep sigh, Ansha motioned towards to orphanage, encouraging her to go and gather her things. With a final nod, she ran inside.
The children that resided with the building cast stares of confusion as she ran past, a smile clear on her face. They hadn't heard the news, but she didn't care. She knew it and such was all that mattered. As she entered her room, she bumped into the girl who had insulted her that morning. She apologized, her voice full of excitement, as she moved to her bed. Pulling out a small suitcase, she gathered up her possessions, which consisted of simply a few pairs of clothes. She didn't turn as the girl came up behind her.
=Girl=
"What are you so happy about, freak?"
With all her clothes packed, she secured the suitcase shut. Grabbing it, she turned quickly to face the girl, a smile plastered upon her face. Not even this girl, not with any words she could say could bring her down now. She began to bounce slightly as the words that formed in her mind echoed there. Her smile turned into a wide toothy grin.
"I am being adopted!"
The girl froze, her eyes lost in wonder and words without a voice. Anya didn't wait for a response but ran towards the door. Part of her wanted to rub it in her face. The freak that everyone hated so much was being adopted before them. But no, she couldn't be like that. In thinking such, she'd be no better than the rest. As she reached the door, she paused and looked back to the girl. Her smile softened and her voice became gentle.
"I hope that someone comes soon to adopt you as well."
Without another word, Anya took off through the orphanage. Time seemed to stretch on as she ran, trying to hold back the time before she'd leave this place as someone's daughter. But it didn't matter. She was moving on; a bright future waited for her, she knew. Finally making it outside, she saw Gavin waiting by the main gate with Ansha. Her heart was pounding, her breaths heavy as she set her bag down in front of them. Looking to Gavin, she gave him a bright smile.
"I am ready!"
Ansha stepped up beside Anya, running her hand along her head one final time. Anya looked to her with a smile. If Gavin would let her, she'd attempt to visit when possible. Ansha was important to her and would always be. With a content sigh, Ansha looked to Gavin.
=Ansha=
"Please, take good care of her."

*Gavin nodded to Ansha.* "I will."
*Reaching down, Gavin grabbed Anya's bag for her, taking her hand is his free one and led her on. They walked around the city for a little while before Gavin stopped at a restaurant. He could go for something to eat. Looking Anya asking her a similar question.*
"Are you getting hungry, Anya?"

With a smile, Anya waved to Ansha as Gavin took her hand in his and led them away from the orphanage. As they left the gates, her free hand moved from a wave to rest over her heart. She never thought that she'd end up missing the orphanage. But shouldn't she? While there may have been many hardships faced, it was where she had grown up. However, a new life awaited her, something more than she could ever dream possible. She looked to her hand in Gavin's, feeling his warmth. It was strange, yet it felt so right to be led on like this. It was nothing less than a dream come true.
As they walked along the sidewalks of the city, Anya couldn't help the excitement that ran through her. She had been here a few times when the workers took the children out to see the city and every time she was amazed at the sight. There were so many buildings: cafes, bakeries, and stores of all kinds. It no doubt took several days to see them all. Maybe she'd get her chance to do so one day.
Coming to a stop next to the restaurant, she looked at it with wide eyes. It may not have been the fanciest one in the city, but it was held with high esteem. As his question filled her ears, the sound that followed was the rumbling of her stomach. Placing her hand there, she took to him with an embarrassed smile.
"I guess I am a little hungry."

*Gavin chuckled a bit as her tummy rumbled. He let go of her hand and ran his hand over her head. Opening the door, he led them inside. Their wait was short as they were escorted to a table. Given menus, Gavin looked his over.* "Feel free to order whatever you like."
*Little time was spent looking over the menu before a waiter arrived. Handing him the menu, he made his order.*
"I'll have a nerf steak and some water."
