Ok guys, let's get back on topic. We got JvS Chat and PM's for this kind of casual discussion. On a more related note. Where are all the Jedi at? What's everyone got going on? Who is actually still around? Anyone need any help getting a SL going? Or have an idea for what they want to do? How rude!!! What he said. On Corellia. Not that it's any of your business! LOL. Kidding. I'm in the middle of plotting shenanigans with Serrin as myself, Zaryna is trying to get Mike to give her his blasters... I always have ideas. Carrying them out is something else entirely. Are you bored?

"Hmm, you still owe me...shiny flask, firewater..." Zaryna eyed the rodent thingy. She glanced at Selaya to see if she had an opinion. Since none was forthcoming, she shrugged and took the metallic droid. For a nanosecond she was going to ask Mike what it could do, but then she thought perhaps he'd rethink trading it to her and just confiscate the flask instead. She could figure it out. Zaryna popped it into one of her pockets so no one would notice she still had it, and nudged Selaya with her foot. "C'mon," she hissed.
The two adults could take care of themselves she guessed. And if not, well, it seemed like they thought Master Roma would be angry at them. She was not planning on being around to see that. Goodness! It's not like she was born yesterday. Besides, the other one, Will, didn't seem to be quite so hurt as before. Maybe it was just the alcohol. Either way, things were better now.
The girl and the vornskr slipped quietly down the corridor. Well, as quietly as a curious young girl-child can manage while rapid-firing questions at the large feline pacing along next to her without pausing for an answer.

"Where'd you get this?" Zaryna froze at the question. She'd smelled what was inside. It was like bottled fire. The small sip she'd cautiously taken had left her coughing till tears popped out of her eyes. "Mine! Left ribbon." It was shiny and she had left her best piece of red hair-ribbon in its place before appropriating it. She didn't understand yet that when trading things usually both parties were supposed to agree.
"Hahahahaheeheheheee," bright laughter echoed in the open space as she glanced from Mike back to Will. "He lies," she whispered up at Will. "Not a pet. Dangerous. Guardian. Keeps me out of trouble. See? Fangs?" The child stretched up further on her tiptoes and pushed up Selaya's jowls showing off her fangs. She was quite proud. A definite aura of amusement rippled around the old vornskr. As if confiding a secret she informed Will very seriously, "Don't bit her tail. She hates it---no! Sto----" she cut off as Selaya's rough tongue flicked out of her mouth and licked the nearest side of her face. Her hands were not big enough to close Selaya's mouth and she nearly fell over in the attempt, embarrassment surrounding her like a big cloud. Vornskrs are deadly animals, but it had never occurred to Zaryna to be afraid. With a final lick the vornskr flopped down next to the girl, keeping an eye on her.
As Mike swiped her flask, dark green eyes narrowed speculatively. "Trade?" she inquired, reaching a hand towards the nearest of his pair of blasters. He should. It would be a bargain. Adults liked stuff in flasks. Maybe he'd give her both?

Two faces peeped around the landing struts of one of the Academy's x-wings. One of them belonged to a predatory feline, and the other to her very young companion. Zaryna blinked. The tall person felt hurt. She patted her pockets looking for something, then reached into her tiny boots to see if what she'd taken was still there. It was. And her ankle was starting to hurt.
The child edged out from her hiding place and ran over towards Will as he was leaving the hangar. She fell twice, the first time landing on her stomach with an Oof! and the second time throwing out her hands to catch herself as a long tail wrapped around her waist and jerked her back to her feet. She grinned roguishly and patted the vornskr's shoulder as high up as she could reach.
"Wait," a young voice piped up from behind Will.
The odd duo quickly crossed the remaining space between them and stopped in front of him. Zaryna looked right at his knees, then tilted her head back and looked up. And up. Why were some people so tall?
"You made mess," she stated solemnly, big green eyes staring up at him, ignoring the tail wrapped around her and the immediate proximity of the vornskr as something she was completely used to and entirely comfortable with. Other kids had stuffed animals. Where was the adventure in that? Hers was alive, had giant fangs, and a prehensile tail. Her black hair was a curly mess, but the color and her eyes were the spitting image of what her mother's had been, although the as-yet-tiny horns on the top of her head were a genetic gift from her father.
Leaning on Selaya with one hand to keep her balance she reached into the top of her boot with her other hand and proudly drew forth what looked like a flask. Stretching up on tiptoe she offered it to Will. "Feel good again?" she suggested.

As the randomization flicker crossed all her cards leaving her with a lovely new hand adding up to eight! (1 of Staves, 3 of Coins, 5 of Flasks) she grinned, eyed NC, picked up her glass of tihaar, finished the whole thing, set it back on the table, and decided to fold. This time. She snagged another bottle of tihaar and filled up everyone's glasses while they continued the hand.

Jade accepted her cards and eyed them in silence while her writer desperately tried to remember how to write a sabacc game, something she used to really like doing! Unfortunately, this might take awhile to happen. She considered throwing in her left boot and knocking everyone out...a 4 of Staves, a 2 of Coins, and a 6 of Flasks. Oh dear. She left her stasis chip where it was, hoped the cards would change, and put forth an opening wager of "Two credits, let's see what happens."
She had noticed NC's action of taking the lightsaber. It certainly took him long enough.

"Normal?" Jade (well, her writer mainly) positively grinned wickedly as she glanced back at Aya, Tahu, and NC before looking over at Adelle again. "Oh you've come to the wrong place for 'normal,' unless she meant people who are working through their own issues and challenges. In which case everyone might be classified as normal."
"Perhaps now isn't quite the time then," she nodded acceptance. "It has nothing whatever to do with the Force, and as you can tell, while it has advantages it can also be misunderstood," she shrugged, then picked up her now unfortunately empty glass, while her writer giggled over the reaction to the thunderstorm drink. "Isn't curiosity where everything begins though?" Of course, it could also lead into bad things, but people needed curiosity in order to keep moving. Otherwise everything comes to a screeching halt.
"I discovered that in a cantina of practically non-existent health standards, so I didn't ask," she kept an eye on Adelle in case the other woman suddenly slumped to the floor, "I am told it is highly dangerous, but it does give one a nice buzz, medical aid is within reach, and you looked like you could do with something surprising. Not to mention the thundercloud effect. I shall figure it out for myself one day." She slid to her feet.
"If Tahu is with Aya, then I doubt you'll be able to surprise her," she remarked quietly as they headed back to join the others, "but I suspect you'd have fun trying."
Jade enjoyed playing sabacc, but it had been a long time, and playing with those present would add its own peculiar challenge to the already tricky game of luck. As she resumed her seat down from Non-Com she re-possessed the bottle of tihaar and filled her glass again.

"For a given value of 'friendly,' Non?" she riposted lightly, quite willing to play.
Adelle's apology really hadn't been necessary, "nothing to forgive," she replied quietly, although the world of hurt emanating in a nearly visible cloud from the center of Adelle's Force presence was a strong indicator that the Knight was dealing with her own issues. (Sorry, Mandy, while I myself would oocly love a glomp/snuggle/sitting on the couch and watching a movie session, Jade's got a very good reason for avoiding contact.) Given the circumstances surrounding both as well as the unadvertised fact that Jade was a touch telepath, it would not have been a good idea either to let Adelle stroll around in her own mind, or take a walk through the trauma and pain she was clearly trying to hide. Unfortunately, that led to circumstances that just were not perfect.
Jade slid to her feet, "Sabacc sounds like a great idea, back in a minute."
She headed gingerly over to the bar and surreptitiously ordered a Pink Lizard Thunderbolt, the much stronger variant of a lovely Pica Thundercloud. As soon as the sparking drink was handed over she slowly headed down the counter to where Adelle was quickly getting intimate with a bottle of Whyren's Reserve. Fully aware that the less she said right now the better, as given the other woman's state of identity crisis everything was probably going to come off as either 'teachy' or 'judgmental' and fed into it, she pushed the glass in front of her. A miniature stormcloud of ionized gas was hovering over the top of it, while the glass zapped it with tiny shocks to simulate an electrical storm. "Try this, you'll be ready for sabacc in no time," she said, modulating her Force presence to warmth and hopefully something comforting. "My reaction to sudden physical contact is no reflection upon yourself, or your skill, and shouldn't be taken as such."
Finding that she'd remembered to bring her half-empty glass of tihaar with her, she took a long drink before inching her hand over towards Adelle's lying on the bar counter and waiting. "I can show you exactly what I mean, if you wish," she finally offered after coming to a decision. "You seem to have made a good impression on the table, specifically Aya, and Tahu seems more than curious to see where things will go."
She was willing to listen if Adelle needed an ear, but at least for tonight, she seemed to have available better ways to deal with whatever was bothering her than she would be able to find with Whyren.

Jedi have always seemed a little 'uptight' in some regards, but that still leaves a lot of room for wiggling around and making mistakes. Anyway, it was probably a good thing that Jade had had multiple glasses of tihaar right now. It made her response to Adelle a bit politer than it might have otherwise been. For one thing she found touch to be highly invasive, as Z'har had found out to his cost on the occasion he'd been stabbed, and usually provocative of a painful reaction. Also, as she was conscious, barely injured, and lucid, she was surprised at the lack of inquiry as to the acceptability of the proceeding as that was something even normal medical procedures usually allowed for. She did not mind the knight's flirting with the others, in fact, if it made her happy and filled a void that was all to the good. However, she did not appreciate the attempt to turn her into a puppet to make a point.
Her lips thinned to a line as she realized the other Jedi's intent. "Not a good idea," she said, "if I require medical aid beyond my own skill, I'll ask for it. Besides, the momentary pain is acceptable as a distraction," she added, figuring that Adelle would understand that. If not, she gently, yet firmly reached up and halted her hand before her fingers would have touched her. Then she picked up the bottle of tihaar, and refilled Adelle's glass, shooting a look over at Aya.
"What did you put in her drink?" she inquired, doubtful that someone with the empathy she had displayed earlier would have made the move Adelle had just attempted of her own volition, unless under the influence of more than usual alcohol and perhaps a little something else.
She flashed the hint of a smile over at Adelle, the tihaar was overcoming the initial feeling of surprise at the woman's gesture. She realized that some humans were much more physical beings, but again, that was not at all something she was used to, or frankly, would ever be used to. The only individual she'd been truly comfortable with was gone, and he'd been both careful and understanding when necessary. Jade figured Adelle might not be too embarrassed, but the situation had been her own making after all.

Jade could sense Aya's relief and could venture a guess as to the cause, but at Adelle's interjection she couldn't help a toothy grin, appreciating the silent moral support, as she nabbed one of the bottles of tihaar. She frowned for a moment in order to refocus.
Sometimes the knife is the lesson. It's harder to ignore.
However, the tendency to not bend totally over backwards to avoid violence had kept her on the fringe of the Order for many years. It was simply another tool to be used. She did not agree that NC was an idiot however. In fact, she suspected the two of them were more alike than he wanted to admit. Perhaps his anger even stemmed from an unwillingness to acknowledge that fact. But she did agree that he was operating from a few close-minded assumptions. Now that they had been addressed, the tihaar was at liberty to flow freely. After all, this was supposed to be a party.
She took a long drink of tihaar and hissed as the alcohol hit the broken skin inside her mouth and redefined the meaning of 'fire' in a very subjective fashion. Eyebrows arched as she shot a glance over at Adelle, taking in Aya and Tahu before smiling at Non-Com, meanwhile wondering why Adelle was presenting the front she had chosen for the evening.
"I think you're going to need more credits than that for the other side of the table alone," she interjected lightly as she went on to wonder what it would take to convince Aya to give NC a peculiarly odd-shaped piercing...his buy'ce didn't really allow him much wiggle room.

Jade ignored the flicker of danger that was the only overt indicator of NC's move. The resultant crack! slammed her head against the back of the seat and left her tasting coppery blood as she was already moving. Right hand dropping to the knife in her belt simultaneously with her left reaching for and igniting her other lightsaber, as she lunged for NC, knife blade pinning his ear to the back of the booth with a solid thunk! if he didn't move fast enough as the crackling blue blade flickered a hair's breadth away from his throat. "A lightsaber won't leave blood all over Aya's marble floors," she said in a harsh tone, indicative of having been pushed quite far enough and just waiting for an excuse to really get violent. Her green eyes were fairly snapping with emerald fire as she hissed, "wrong code, also, I was never really a truly good Jedi!" Whereas the traditional Order viewed attachments and emotions, especially anger, as dangerous she'd always found a strange exhilaration in combat, that moment where anticipation and perhaps even fear vanished in the heat of the moment. Given that, her lightsaber style had always been more aggressive than orthodox Jedi were comfortable with. She was much more practical, and the Order had been more idealistic. "I hear piercings are in this season...I'm sure Aya could fit you up with something useful."
In fact, if NC had known it, she had never before been so angry she'd used her honorblade in what was after all a domestic scuffle. That realization alone was enough to drain maybe a third of her anger, as she doused the lightsaber and gave a quick pull on the knife. She scowled at the blade, then dipped it in her glass of tihaar before cleaning it carefully and replacing it where it belonged.
As far as she was concerned the dangerous topic was closed and the account was balanced. Unless NC decided to unbalance it again.
She picked up her newly refilled glass "Exactly," she replied to NC's toast, "as long as it may be." She wasn't planning on killing herself, even if that was how he had decided to take it. But, as a Jedi things usually tended to go warped very quickly. This was one of the reasons the old Jedi Order had forbidden attachments. They added distractions.

And thusly Non-Com touched upon the heart of the issue. Jade was glad she'd had plenty of tihaar by this point, although there would definitely be some more in the immediate future. Speaking of which, she picked up the bottle she'd nicked from him earlier and re-filled his glass since he'd been staring at it dolefully for the past few minutes before topping up her own and taking a long drink. She grimaced as the burn hit her throat. "She cannot stay with me," it turned out to be harder than she'd anticipated given the short amount of time the child had been in her life anyway. But it was too late to regret anything now, and if she looked back she'd only end up ruining everything...
"When Z'har died something inside me broke, and I can feel the beginning of the end, the lingering darkness just out of reach at the corner of one's eye---" she really didn't know how to explain it, and being a private individual she was not good at acknowledging depth of feeling. "I will arrange for her to be sent here, or wherever you and Aya choose, but I would like her to be brought up with the D'Ordinii." She smiled faintly, glancing over at Aya, who she knew very well was paying attention even though she appeared to be indulging in a bit of flirtation with Adelle, right in front of Tahu...an eyebrow arched quizzically.
Jade figured that Non-Com would have no problem looking after Zaryna and teaching her the Resol'nare. But he might have a problem later. However, she was out of options and in the end it didn't matter. He was family. Z'har placed absolute trust in his family. So would she. "I wish her to be given the soul of a warrior, but ---akh, you know what I mean. I don't want her to be coddled and such. But I want her to have what I didn't, people to depend on. If I had not become so isolated perhaps I would not have run from what your buir offered me the first time. I don't want her to make my mistakes." While she was a Jedi herself, her core being went back further, to before she'd been a Jedi. She picked up the bottle of tihaar and refilled her glass with a grumble, feeling rather like an idiot and not enjoying it in the slightest.
"Tell her I ---loved her and was proud of her. You will know when." She set down her glass a bit shakily and reached for her lightsaber. She unclipped it from her belt and thumbed the activation switch. Its familiar green blade ignited with the usual snap-hiss for a second before she closed it down and slid it over to Non-Com. "When she's ready give her this, and tell her I was a Jedi." The petite woman faded a bit, like part of her soul had gone missing, but the resolve never left her tone and her eyes never flinched.

Jade's writer is pretty sure she felt her bones creak with ancientness as she settled into her chair with a wry smile and a crack or two of the old joints! However, she worked on a post anyway, in spite of her arthritic finger bones...
Ael smiled as the other Jedi joined the group. Her reaction was quite satisfactory although she'd never admit it. The indignation on her behalf was pleasant, although she agreed with Aya. She slid a glass of tihaar over to Adelle, "You're from the Felucian academy, right?" She never been there, but she was aware of its existence. There were a lot of things she'd meant to do at one point, however, the Force kept throwing curve balls at her. "He's a bit prejudiced, but it's in the family you might say," it wasn't much of an explanation, but she imagined Non'Com's father figure's marriage to a Jedi had been rather a shock.
"She's neither #8472 nor the Infant Inconvenience," perhaps the tihaar was finally starting to do its job. Z'har's absence was less of a gaping emptiness in her psyche at the moment, although, perhaps the company was doing its part as well. It was good to be able to actually talk about her daughter for instance. And Aya seemed enthusiastic. "Naturally, she will choose her own name one day, but she usually answers to Zaryna. Especially if it's accompanied by a shout." The poor child already had several names, and was in some danger of becoming a byword at the Academy, but Ael really hadn't felt like naming her after herself, and honestly, she thought Z'har would've been proud of the little girl if he'd been around to see her. She pulled out a small holophoto from one of her belt pouches and handed it to Aya. Big green eyes stared a mischievous challenge up at her, and tiny horns could be seen poking through curly black hair. One of her hands was tightly clenched around what looked like an animal tail, though the picture didn't show who it belonged to.
"Everything, huh?" Jade positively grinned, "That would take awhile. I had to inform her that my lightsaber was not an appropriate teething device, and---you remember, Selaya? Your father gave me a vornskr, not a tame one either, the first time we fought on Galantos." She had to stop a moment, sparks had absolutely lit up her eyes as the mental image resurfaced, "well, I had thought she couldn't get up to much in my quarters while I briefly popped out to talk to Serrin, but Selaya jumped in through the window. A few minutes later I heard an animalistic screech followed by yells that clearly indicated a temper." Her heart had nearly stopped for a few seconds. While she and the vornskr got on well enough, they were predatory animals and she had very sharp fangs. "Anyway, when I jumped through the doorway, Zaryna was flat on the floor with her little hands wrapped around Selaya's tail wordlessly lecturing the large feline. I guess she was more surprised than hurt, but Selaya started licking her face---and a vornskr's tongue is rough. It's weird, but I think she's adopted the girl, looks at her like she's some sort of hairless cat with very small teeth and no tail."
