While there were no visible indications of it, Jade suspected that the Rakatan had surfaced upon noticing Zaryna out for a run though she was unfailingly polite to the older woman. "The offer is appreciated, but I am not in need of lunch. Besides, I've been meaning to find Non-Com. He's got something that belongs to me." She smiled, "Zaryna'd probably jump at the chance though," she hadn't said much, but there was a certain reserve between the two of them, and the girl would probably like talking to another Ordinii. Zaryna wanted to know everything about the father she'd never met, but Ael Jade had never been a woman who found it easy to talk about the things that were deeply important to her personally. She would get there eventually, but between that and the Jedi Academy on Corellia and politics she was trying to figure out how to relate to a very young woman who was an adult, but still seemed to her to be very young.
That didn't keep her from grinning at the mental image of Aya as a protective mother hen type. It was too incongruous. "Aya? Well, your mother is right. It's what anyone would do. I think perhaps Zaryna might have been frustrated by me in that regard as well. And there will always be sharks."
Zaryna had of course noticed Orania's arrival. As Jade got to her feet gracefully and seemed to be leaving, she jogged up towards them from the beach, hair a wreck as usual, but green eyes sparkling from the exercise of a morning run.

Jade's eyes popped open and she sat up as the tall Rakata swayed towards her in a state of undress that caused no further reaction than a slightly arched eyebrow. The Ordinii family had been losing its power to surprise her, or rather, by now she was so used to the unusual that it seemed normal. Given the tropical nature of Lehon and the warm sea breeze, Jade herself was not in anything that resembled her old uniform. In fact, she was wearing billowing trousers of a shimmering turquoise that only escaped transparency due to a positively opulent amount of fabric and were confined by narrow cuffs at the ankles. Her shirt was sleeveless, and because of sun, of a light sandy color, also given that it was cut short it revealed a nice collection of the scars she'd acquired over the decades.
"Su'cuy, Orania," she replied after a second's thought, then inquired further, "Enjoying the water?" although she figured the answer was fairly obvious. "I think perhaps Zaryna is part fish, though I do not know where she comes by it."

{Not in the City at all, but on one of the Numerous Beaches}
The ocean was one of the things Jade most enjoyed about Lehon. Although, if she was being honest, the peacefulness was becoming irritating. She was used to the odd blaster bolt coming her way and the current absence of evil intent was unsettling. That wasn't enough to move her from her position though. She was currently lying flat out on the sand with only her head in the shade of a large palm tree. Her eyes were closed and she was listening with all her ears to the crash of the waves on the shore and the various little noises that were part of the beach. Somewhere down the coast a much younger female was trying to tire herself out while running on the sand and splashing through the waves.
Zaryna liked Lehon. It was very different from Corellia however. Even though Jade refused to discuss what had happened at the Jedi Academy she was fully aware that something had happened to Master Roma. Being busy was undoubtedly the best option. To that end, she had a plan. A small smile tweaked at the corners of her lips, brilliant green eyes sparkled mischievously. She hadn't told anyone, and she wasn't planning on it. Not yet anyway. Not till she'd made it happen. Zaryna was good at making things happen.

Hey Corellia... dunno where anyone is, but I wanted to log back in. Not to bore anyone with details, but I got really sick (still not exactly better) and I fell back off the writing train. Never meant that to happen. Thought I was back for good, but that was almost five months ago now. Missed you guys.

On a similar note I ended up without being able to connect to the internet. I didn't enjoy that surprise. But, for whatever reason, the laptop was able to connect tonight. >.< Hopefully that holds true tomorrow as I'm pretty sure I owe Serrin a post again. XD

"Err, thanks," Jade paused, almost waved, and frowned instead. Then the corners of her lips twitched. She headed off the grin by pressing her lips together and moving off with the fussy protocol droid in the direction of the sounds of mayhem. Cafeteria storeroom? Garden? She was going to have to do something. Doubtless Z'har would have found his daughter's chaotic activities within a Jedi Academy quite hilarious, and she was forced to admit she did find it amusing herself, although a large part of that was related to C3-P9's reactions to Zaryna's marauding habits.
"What did she do?" Jade figured she would have been notified if anyone had been injured, but given Serrin's solicitous and somewhat overprotective bearing towards her since Z'har had passed on, she knew it was all too likely that such a notification might have been intercepted and dealt with. So she asked quietly, "Was anyone hurt?"
Stretching out in the Force she could easily tell Zaryna's mischievous aura apart from the other padawans, and Selaya had her own peculiar aura, the others were a muddle of surprise, definitely a large amount of annoyance, and the Force only knew what else. She really was going to have to put her foot down. Deep inside she reluctantly admitted that it was hard for her to be around the child. She looked so much like Z'har, and their time together had been so short. Sometimes the resentment and bitterness bubbled up inside and she knew that there were times where she had blamed Zaryna, usually inaudibly, for things that were in no way her fault. And yet, she also loved the girl.
"I suppose this is as good a time as any to express gratitude for your willingness to run damage control, Pee," though she expected that had more to do with Serrin than with the protocol droid's own desires on the subject. "It is appreciated."

So, I am definitely late to the party, but I did read the whole thread. I think Sin made a definite point about the new movies. The throwing out of the EU, especially Zahn's books and Rogue Squadron, really has made it hard for me to enjoy Star Wars anymore. The old magic is gone. Or maybe I'm just old and tired.
Other thing: I finally posted yesterday. I've been planning to come back for awhile, and every time I thought about logging in and posting, I just felt emotionally drained. I think that was because I felt the "this-post-must-be-long-and-absolutely-perfect" pressure and eventually decided to just post something anyway otherwise I'd never get back into it. It wasn't what I wanted. But, I did it. I guess what I'm saying is the often unspoken feelings about post length is something that anyone is susceptible to. I enjoy writing long posts, but I find that when I'm writing with people, long posts can sometimes be a detriment, for instance if two characters are having a conversation and I am writing a super long post, essentially I have sort of forced my partner into carrying on the conversation a certain way--it doesn't allow for the organic flow of thought and interaction. So yes, I do sometimes write short posts. I'll do whatever I feel is good for the situation/story, but I do still feel guilty about it sometimes. (Shorter posts also let me back and forth a bit, super long ones leave me feeling emotionally drained and tired at times. Too much feels.)
Also, hi! I'm back.

When Jade did arrive back on Corellia finally she was surprised at how familiar the place felt. Given what she had been dealing with over the past months the solidity of the Jedi Academy was simultaneously reassuring and infuriating. Her quarters were too quiet at the moment. Evidently Zaryna and Selaya were causing mayhem elsewhere. She'd briefly read through the list of her escapades that Serrin had sent her upon arrival the previous evening, or to be accurate, early in the morning.
Getting dressed was automatic, but as she fastened the wide belt of a Jedi around her waist and reached for her lightsaber, she hesitated. She had always carried two lightsabers, her own, and the one formerly belonging to a dead friend. She no longer had hers. She'd given it to Non-Com. Jade picked up the burned lightsaber hilt that remained and ignited it. It might have been her imagination, but the shimmering blue blade seemed to flicker for a nanosecond before solidifying. She shut it down and clipped it to her belt before picking up the voluminous outer robe she usually wore and settling it upon her shoulders. She straightened, thinking that it felt like a mountain as it settled across her shoulders.
She barely glanced at the rest of the room before heading to the door, catching the barest glimpse of a head covered with snow-white hair whereas formerly it had been raven black. Age and sudden shock can do that to a person.
The door slid closed behind her with a quiet snick as she headed off into the Academy proper looking for Serrin and whoever else she might find, half an ear listening for the sounds of chaos that experience had told her usually accompanied Zaryna.

Oh. This is exciting. I have been meaning to post and somehow have not 'found the right mood' or whatever. So, tomorrow or next day I shall finally just do it. I'm sure we'll all run into each other at some point.

So the Jedi could dramatically speed things up by just invading the younglings minds. Saves on years of training and such. Much more economical. Of course....I guess there is that whole "Jedi Code" thing...

I don't understand how Rey all of a sudden became a full-fledged Jedi with the ability to use Telekinesis on a Master level practically overnight. Even Yoda didn't lift that many rocks, and it seemed like an effort for the oldest Jedi of all time.
I liked *****'s use of Battle Meditation though. That was freaking awesome.
